I like scented candles in the house in winter, but I’m no connoisseur – my wife is the candlemeister, so I leave her to pass judgement. NB her comments cover covers both White Tea & Jasmine (medium) and Cinnamon Chai (large). I liked both , but Cinnamon Chai was definitely the winner. The first we tried was White Tea & Jasmine:“During the colder months I always have a scented candle burning, sometimes one in both the living room and the dining room, and I was really looking forward to lighting this one. I have often seen them in the shops and I had no idea that they were made by Yankee Candles, a brand that I always buy because the candle and the fragrance last a long time. This one was so different from what I actually expected. The fragrance is lovely and subtle, but certainly noticeable, and it gets stronger when you move around and displace the air around it. I love the popping sound that it gives off, not really a crackling in my opinion, just a gentle popping which is so soothing. The fragrance of this one is white tea and jasmine; the white tea smell is the first fragrance and then the jasmine follows. The jasmine is not as strong as the tea, but it provides a kind of base note which is needed. You get a lot of burn time for your money (this is good value for a quality candle); it is supposed to last about for about 60 hours, but it is suggested that you let it remain lit for at least 3 to 4 hours straight. I assume this is to ensure that it burns evenly, as sometimes when you blow out candles after a short while they tend to leave a lot of wax on the side of the jar and the wick just sinks down inside the wax well. I have had mine alight for just over an hour so far and the wax is melting evenly and the wick is still popping well.It is very well packaged in a cardboard protective box inside a strong cardboard box, so there is little danger that it will be damaged in transit.A beautiful looking jar, an amazing perfume and at a very good price, far cheaper than I have ever seen in the shops.”Then the Cinnamon Chai:“The white tea and jasmine we had previously was medium size, and the burning sound of the wooden wick was more of a popping sound than a crackle. With this larger one it really is a crackle, probably due to the size of the wick.I love the cinnamon fragrance - it is so festive and makes the house feel warm and cosy, especially as the nights are getting colder. No more than five minutes after I had lit it the whole house smelt of cinnamon, even up in our loft extension. It is very strong indeed, and I will keep it for the festive period when the curtains are pulled shut and the cold wind is blowing around the house. The flame from the wick burns high for about a minute, and then settles down to a perfect height; it is virtually smokeless, which is a bonus. The wax burns evenly, which is a pleasant change from some candles in this price range; there is nothing more annoying than lighting an expensive candle, only for half of it not to melt as the wick gets lower and lower in the chimney of unmelted wax stuck on the side of the jar. This is supposed to burn for up to 130 hours. It is suggested you leave it lit for at least 3 - 4 hours at a time - I assume this is to ensure it burns evenly. It has a wooden lid which doubles as a base for the candle to sit on so as not to damage your furniture.A brilliant candle that I love.”

This is a first for me from this brand, a sister company from the group that brings us YANKEE CANDLE®.It was hard to light the X-shaped wick the first time, then it was a bit wild, so I quickly had to adjust the height of the wick as advised in the enclosed instructions, once it had cooled down. When lit, it is a nicely subdued ‘posh tea’ fragrance that dominates, to my nose, and scents the whole room. The ‘crackling’ from the wood-wick is soothing to me, taking me back in time to toast and marshmallows by the fire after a cool evening walk.If any of the wick breaks away when lit, there can be a bit of swirly smoke, as also happens when the flame is extinguished (image below refers), although,I find, that the smoke soon disperses. To prevent too deep a well developing, I tend to gently circle the jar at an angle when the wax is still liquid (& the flame is out). There is a yellowy tinge to the settled wax.In my environment, it burns evenly right down, with very little left. After removing the wick, I scrape out the residue and add it to my electric wax melt for another period of the relaxing scent. The glass jar easily cleans up to use as a vase, in my case, so an added bonus.ooOoo※ YANKEE CANDLE®※ WoodWick™ ‘Crackles as it Burns’※ 275 g ~ MEDIUM CANDLE~ FRAGRANCE: WHITE TEA & JASMINE~ CANDLE COLOUR: CREAM~ PRODUCT REF: 92062E? ‘Pure white tea with a hint of jasmine gently blends with scents of red cedar and rose.Patented +PLUSWICK® wooden wick ~ CRACKLES AS IT BURNSFRAGRANCE NOTES:❅ TOP: BERGAMOT, TEA ACCORD❅ MIDDLE: ROSE, VIOLET, JASMINE❅ BASE: CEDAR WOOD, AMBER, MUSK’ooOooThe candle jar came impeccably packed, nestling in a cardboard inner in a thick cardboard box and in a sturdy cardboard outer carton, for safe transit.Exactly as currently pictured in the stock images above, the hourglass-shaped jar is reassuringly heavy in hand and the trademark ‘WoodWick’ label with interlocked 'W's is slightly raised on the front. The scent is evident as soon as the stained wood-like top/coaster is removed to reveal the X-shaped, natural wooden wick. The glass jar stands around 10.5 cm high with a base diameter of around 8 cm, narrowing to a slightly slimmer waist and gently tapering out again to around 9 cm at the rimmed top. The lid swells the overall width to around 9.5 cm, the height rising to around 11.5 cm.The lid has a seal to help preserve the scent & keep out the dust and doubles up as a coaster when the candle is burning. The usual candle instructions are on a label on the base of the jar, which peels away for more detail regarding maintenance of the wick. These details are replicated on the removable label on the underside of the lid, which has the ‘WW™’ logo in SILVER coloured lettering. The ingredients are also on the base of the jar, with a warning (last image below refers):? ‘MAY CAUSE AN ALLERGIC SKIN REACTION. HARMFUL TO AQUATIC LIFE WITH LONG LASTING EFFECTS’~ LID LABEL:? ‘For Best Burn Results:Burn candle 3-4 hours per use. Trim wick to ⅛” before each use. To trim wick, gently break off burned edges with fingertips and discard.Avoid drafts.’~ BASE LABEL:? ‘Allow candle to burn until the wax melts out to all edges of the candle container’[16 images attached]

I'm pleased to say that this is a lovely candle that I can recommend highly. I find that some sweet scented candles on the market can smell sickly and cloying, but this WoodWick Cinnamon Chai candle avoids that. The scent is very pleasant and has notes of cinnamon and vanilla, reminding me of Christmas, warm drinks in front of log fires, and spicy home baked cakes. This is very much a feel-good sort of an aroma, and fits perfectly with the interest in the Scandinavian concept of the hygge (or cozy) home.My candle is the large size, and impressively big at 175mm high x 105mm wide. Although expensive initially, taking the 130 hour burn time into account it's surprisingly good value for money when you realise this equates to less than 20 pence per hour of use!The glass jar it comes in is an attractive curved shape and has a wooden lid that seals in the aroma when not in use and doubles as a heat protective mat for your table top when the candle is lit.Wood wicks have been a thing for centuries, but have only recently become popular with the public. Unlike a woven cotton wick they're solid and need to be carefully trimmed every so often, keeping them just 3mm or so high. The beauty of them is the lovely crackle sound they make when lit, reminding you of a real fire. An important piece of advice for you is not to light this (or any over wide candle) for a short period of time. Only light it if you'll be burning it for at least three to four hours, until the entire candle top is liquid. If you don't do this you'll quickly bore a hole down the middle of the wax and your candle will become unusable, which would be a huge shame. When your 130 hours are over and your candle is used up the glass jar would make an excellent flower vase, kitchen storage jar or storm lantern for a small candle.

Weighty, 21.5 oz, substantial, long-lasting enjoyment and relaxation to be had from this generously made wood wick candle. Quality assured, in all design, presentation, the carved wooden lid can also be used as a stable base when the candle is alight. Afterwards, it acts as a neatly sealed lid, preserving the scent and wax until next required. The cinnamon, 'Fireside' scent is wintry cosy but there is a warning to say that it could be harmful to aquatic life, with long-lasting effects, so this is not to be used in a home with fish in tanks, bowls. Some are allergic to scented candles, so consider the occasion and use for this.Burning for three hours at a time is recommended. The wick should be trimmed to between 1/4" and 1/8" between each use by breaking off the burned edges and discarding them. Do not place the candle in draughty places or leave it burning unattended. At the very end of its life, the glass jar would make a most attractive vase. This will sit neatly in the hearth on days when it isn't worth lighting the fire, but having the candle going provides a focus.ps I have also received the 'Sand and Driftwood' candle which has a crisp, coastal scent, very refreshing and uplifting, slightly reminds me of a gentleman's aftershave. The 'Magnolia Magnolia' one is intensely floral, really deep and this time the wax is white rather than dark grey-green as the others are. Otherwise, all have the same crackling good looks of the above. The candles can be quite intense when burning so you may like to keep a small window open slightly to stop them becoming overpowering in an enclosed space. The flame being flickery too, can be distracting.

WoodWick Medium Hourglass Scented Candle, White Tea & JasmineThe candle. This comes very well protected for its journey in the mail. This is a medium sized premium scented candle from WoodWick. The scent of this one is White tea and Jasmine. The candle is contained in an hour glass container with polished wood cap.Features.WoodWick use a special wick in the candle which crackles while burning. The candle burns very slowly and lasts a very long time. The scent. This is very subtle but fills a room very quickly and lasts. It is hard to describe a scent but here goes. This candle leaves a old fashioned tea shop aroma with a hint of sweet Jasmine. It is rather pleasant and not at all overpowering. The crackling wick noise is quite nice and reminds me of an old-fashioned open fire my grandmother had – see it triggers memories which to me rises the product above the ordinary. This candle burnt slowly and did not go out once lit. Just to point out we have had a few of these candles and the wick is very sensitive to draughts so to prevent the candle going out place it away from sources of draughts.Value.These are quite expensive but make nice and unusual presents. Production values are obviously high and only quality materials have been used.Overall.We liked the scent and the overall design. These make nice and unusual presents and it’s up to the individual buyer whether they like the scent or not plus the initial outlay. In my opinion these are the single malt Whiskies of the candle world rather than the cheap blended whiskies.

Fans of Woodwick will know they have a couple of gimmicks here to go along with what is known as some strong, long-lasting scents. You won't be disappointed by a candle that smells good in the jar and of nothing when lit. These are excellent at scenting a large room in a short time. The candles contain larger than average wicks, made in rectangular or, as in this case, a crosshair shape of wood or some other material, and this means not only a much larger flame, but a crackling sound reminiscent of a log fire. This is a lovely addition and something I enjoy more than the scent - they should make unscented ones,so I can have a longer crackle time without having to blow the candle out because the scent got too much. The one issue I'm going to knock a star off for is that the wick doesn't protrude from the wax, so it may take a long time to get it lit for the first time. I use matches to light them, no fancy tapers or candle-lighters, but it is impossible to hold the flame for the time needed to melt the wax away from the wick the first time. I had to use about 8 matches held in salad tongs. It was a faff and I wondered if I'd have to start chipping the wax away in order to reach the wick at all. Thankfully a tiny part caught fire and now, after a few hours, the wick is fine and accessible, but it was a bit of a pain to get started. The scent of this white tea candle is really delicate and sweet, not too overpowering, but they do their job well and, like I say, you may not want it burning for the recommended 3 hours.

WoodWick Large Hourglass Scented Candle, Fireside is manufactured by the Yankee Candle factory and what makes these candles different from their more famous relations is the Hourglass holder as well as the "wick" which when lit has an audible crackling sound which resembles the noise an open fire makes which makes these candles perfect for a winter evening and if your house is like mine, we very rarely have an open fire lit as we have central heating. I do miss the warmth and homely feeling an open fire creates, which makes these candles a great purchase as well as the audible crackling the beautiful warm scent they create is really relaxing and even more heavenly to have in the home.I loveeverything about these candles and the scent they create is truly divine.I was very pleased how well packaged the candles were as the manufacturer has done everything possible by providing first class packaging. The candle has secure packaging of its own which holds the candle inside a strong cardboard construction, it is placed within another strong box. Which holds everything safely and securely without any room for movement. This box placed inside another strong box and of course Amazon uses plenty of their own packaging to make sure this candle is being shipped as safe as possible. This is a beautifully scented which is warm compared to Yankee candles which are more flowery or fruity.A beautiful candle which I personally love and happy to recommend.

One thing that really did get my goat over this was the sticky label on the lid of it. A wooden lid which looks good quality only to be wrecked by the sticky round label on it. The candle itself is a big chunky glass jar one which the scent of it Fireside really does conjure up that smell from a real fire. The jar the candle is in looks modern and stylish and would look at home in any room from kitchen to bedroom think to me this is why it appeals more to myself can use it anywhere. As for the crackling effect not that much of a massive effect to write home about. Bit of a novelty thing I think as what else can you do to make any candle different. Not much. What amazes me is the price of these things but will have to admit the aroma from it even when not lit. Just on opening the box it came in you can smell it straight away. Is it on a par with another well known branded one which is usually in glass jars? I would say it is and myself. If either of these makes were on offer they are well worth getting if not as gift for someone else but just yourself as they do have strong lasting scented aromas. The first time I’ve had a Woodwick one and can see why people like them so much.Four stars though due to the fact it took ages to try to remove the sticky round label off the wooden lid and even when removed slight sticky residue left behind.

This is an absolutely stunning candle! Upon opening the box you can feel you're holding something special. The thick wooden lid gives it an attractive look and when opened releases a mix of calming and floral scents, coming together to form 'Calming Retreat'.The candle itself is the largest round version with the horizontal wick. I'd never seen anything like that before and was intrigued to see how it burns and it produces a visually amazing horizonal flame which also makes crackling sounds like a wood fire burning. This is so relaxing to listen to and I've been using this whilst laying in the bath before bed to have the mixture of relaxing scents and just to have the crackling sound is really enjoying as it is subtle but comforting! The candle burns in layers of scents and eventually mix together, the top 2 layers are shorter burning times and then the bottom layer is the scent that is most dominant as the other layers burn away. Perfect for a calming scent experience and the chosen blend is subtle and enjoyable.I'd never tried a Woodwick candle before but this is proving to already be the longest lasting candle I've ever used. Each time you burn you need to break off the burnt parts on the wick to maintain the full effectiveness and with proper maintenance should be able to be enjoyed for a long time. Highly Recommended!

I have always liked the style of WoodWick candles. They look smart and contemporary, and not quite as crass as some of the more traditional mainstream scented candles. What I’ve never been as keen on though, is the crackly noise they make, as to my ears it sounds like an FM radio that’s not tuned in to a station. As such I’ve avoided them for a while since they first came out. This one is the first one I’ve had for over a year, and I could be imagining it but it does seem a little quieter than I remember - so to my ears, that’s a good thing. The scent of this ‘White Tea and Jasmine” is more subtle than I was expecting. Often you find scented candles are very strongly scented, and in some cases a bit overpowering, but WoodWick brand candles don’t usually fall into that category and this one is much the same. In fact some could argue it’s quite a faint smell and maybe not strong enough.WoodWick candles that I have tried - this one included - do have quite a slow burn time, which is good, as they seem to last a decent amount of time. The price is a bit of a sticking point, as I do think that a price of c. £18.99 (at time of review) for their ‘Medium’ sized candle is very expensive. You can get cheap imitations of this brand which I am yet to try, but will likely give a try soon.

I have first seen these candles on social media and struggled to find in shops, I was excited to find these on Amazon and when I bought it, there was some sales on so I was happy to save a few pounds. The product arrived packaged in a very sturdy case and it was very secured as it is a delicate item to handle, it seemed the seller did everything to ensure its safety and avoid breakage. The product burns delightfully, the crackling sound is incredibly soothing and relaxing. being a larger wooden wick, the flame is bigger and brighter than your usual candle, and burns quicker for the same reason. The only issue I had was with choosing the scent, as it can't be tried online.I bought "FIRESIDE" and although I did not know what to expect the scent really surprised me with the winter warming feeling. Unfortunately, there is no trick in getting this right without smelling them before buying, but if you know you usually like certain scents from other brands (in particular yankee candles) then stick to the ones that have the same name or have more descriptive names (for example "vanilla").Other than that, it is a bit pricey for a candle but if you are into this type of things then it is worth the experience and the little treat.

The presentation, at least in the sample I received, is a bit lacking in that there are some voids between the wax and the glass which makes it look a bit ugly. I haven't noticed any other reviews mentioning this so I assume I was a bit unlucky in the one I got.The USP of this candle is the cross-shaped wooden wick. This gives the burn a crackle and flicker of the flame, sounding similar to a burning wood fire, adding a bit of theatre to your otherwise slightly boring candle. So far this crackle and flicker seems to be perfectly safe - I haven't seen any spitting or embers flying, but as always you shouldn't really leave a candle unattended anyway. This candle comes in a number of differentflavours - the one I have bears the appellation "Fireside" and it is supposedly intending to reproduce the aroma of a wood fire as well as the sound. Not sure this is a scent you would want to reproduce exactly, but I would perhaps expect some sort of woody aroma given off which I'm not getting - it seems to be more of a generic floral scent to be honest.3½ stars rounded up.

This is a scented candle with a crackling wick and an estimated burn time of up to 50 hoursFirst of all £30 is a lot to pay for a candle so I expected great things.Taking the candle from the box was a 'wow' moment because it is big! This is the sort of candle I like to place in the fireplace as the winter nights draw in before its time to actually light the fire. The lid didn't seem to be a good fit. I tried turning it around but it still didn't want to line up properly with the top of the candle. The wick is a low wide wooden affair that crackles as it burns although that did seem to be less obvious as time went on.The scent from the candle is a gorgeous fresh blend that soon permeated the roomand then the entire lower floor of the house.50 hours seems rather optimistic as this one has been burning for approx 36 hours and is almost done.It is an extremely attractive and pleasant candle to use and would make a lovely gift.I have docked a star for that ill fitting lid and the high price. I would possible pay £20

A great quality candle, of quality ingredients, as it were. The solid wood lid is almost a mahogany colour and makes the candle look very exclusive when out on display, and equally a fantastic gift. The wick is designed to crackle; it's a pleasant sound but one you need to be prepared for it doing! And the scent is lovely, not too overbearing but adds a lovely freshness to the room.I'm pretty sure WoodWick is a derivative company of Yankee Candle, and those are great too, so this has really made itself on par in terms of quality. But like many candles, it's good practice to have the first burn of it for a few hours - this is to make sure it burns the wax evenly right up to the edges, meaning that future burns of the candle will do the same. If you allow them to burn a smaller hole on first burn, then it just keeps going down and down in that circle...and also to trim the wicks when the wick is cold. This prevents smoking and black stuff getting all over the lovely white candle and the sides of the glass.

This is a nicely scented candle that comes with a special wick that creates the subtle sound effects of a crackling fire. The scent fills the room and definitely makes for a good impression as soon as you enter. There are three different scent layers so you will get a differing sensation as the burn progresses. The bottom level is my favourite. For the best burning experience, it is suggested that you burn the candle for 3-4 hours per use as that will help to even out the melt and produce the longest use possible without leaving half of the wax stuck up the sides of the jar. The wick should also be trimmed to 1/8 inch before each use: removing burnt pieces with fingertips is the suggestedmethod. This is a good candle that comes in a well designed box that cushions it for the delivery process. Note there is nothing on the box exterior to alert as to contents, so it will be great for gifting, whether to self or to others, including as a secret Santa or (large) stocking filler.
