This is a seriously powerful rally game. I always liked the original WRC, preferring it to the Colin McRae series (though the CM 2005 I had on X-Box was very good) - but clearly the developers have gone further as time's moved on, creating a more absorbing and complex rallying experience. It's a little more like Richard Burns Rally with the difficulty settings and driving aids off.Using a Logitech wheel, handling is excellent. With all the aforementioned driver aid turned off, it's pretty difficult and very easy to oversteer - or indeed understeer by braking too hard or too late.In much the same way that GT4 refined its physics engine in relation to GT3,in WRC Evolved you can't just slam into corners and drift round with loads of opposite lock too easily. If you brake too hard or too late, you'll lock up and go straight on, completely missing the apex of the corner. You have to use incremental braking and accelerating (the latter to avoid wheelspin). It's tough to get the hang of, but very satisfying when you do. It's hard to judge whether the physics are more or less realistic than other top driving games, as the developers seem to have really gone into detail in this area, and without driving a real rally car it's difficult to judge. When you crash, the momentum of the car being spun round in relation to what its collided with, and at what angle, is really amazing.The visuals in this game are at times extraordinary. On occasions, the graphics of the tracks and scenery verges on photo-realism - incredibly well designed. As with GT4, they've made the best use of what are essentially flat sprites for the trees - far more realistic than most games despite the limits of current hardware and processing power.Engine sounds are dynamic and realistic, noticably better than other games.Faults include the infuriating ghost car which I can't seem to turn off in historic car mode, and slightly irritating steering wheel vibration at the start of each race.Perhaps there could be a little more attention to creating the feeling of a bumpy road, which GT4 did very well on its rally sections. At times, the cars feel like they're gliding a little too smoothly - maybe needs some screen juddering and / or low level constant / regular wheel vibration?With the refined physics, it's not always as much pure fun as something like the original WRC - but if you're looking for a satisfying and realistic rally game this is the one to get.

This is an excellent rally game. The game is visually stunning and has superb gameplay elements which have only improved from previous instalments in the series.I personally feel it is a game anyone can play. The use of Driver-aids makes it easy for novices to pick up the driving quickly and the novice championship is set at an excellent level for the beginner driver. However there is plenty to offer the hardcore gamer with the challenge of the professional and expert championships and reducing or removing driver aids to really test you’re driving skill.The additional features of the game such as Rallycross and the inclusion of random events on the tracks really make the game shine.The cars have great handling and the online mode is a treat.Overall this is a stunning title well worth the money.

This game is great! Its far more realistic than other rallying games, especially the co-driver's comments. I love the way he reacts to the way you are driving and adds commentary to the race. Also the way the spectators react if you drive too close to them.There are lots of driver aids you can add if you are a novice driver. This allows you to play the game and not get frustrated by going off the track and crashing all the time. As you get more experienced you can turn the aids off and just use your skill.I always like Colin McRae rally games but this one beats it hands down

This is my review.1. The graphics are brilliant and stun me!2. The gameplay is uniquely testing and engaging at the same time.Hoewever: (this is me nitpicking)they went the whole hog on trying to emulate realism so why not include more tracks. there are only 3 tracks per stage and they are only 2/3 mins long on average which dissapointed me! i think that "richard burns rally " is equally as good if much harder! and also more realistic.this game is pretty good though certainly a strong 9/10 in comparison to others.

hello people if you love rallying you will love this game, an old game now but when you play it, it really doesnt show. i have played colin mcrae rally 2005 and richard burns rally and id say this game is between the pair right in the middle, not as simulation like as rbr but not too arcadey either like colin mcrae... this is a very enjoyable game you will love it and the graphics are very good! worth buying even now days, i would give this game 7.6/10.

This game is the best on rally game on the PS2, miles better than GT4. The car visuals, damage and handling are all A1 as you'd expect on this type of game. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is smooth. No long loading times and just all out fun. Not played online with this yet, but that should be good also. Loads of extra content also, unlocks etc...If you want a good rally driving game then this is the one to buy...

this is my favourite motorsport. this is my reason for coming back to ps2. this game is amazing, it looks fantastic, it plays superbly. love it, beats colin mc hands down. you like off road racing you should buy this. its one of those games where you just got to keep coming back to improve your times. what more can i say.

Just got a PS2 again after missing the one I sold a few years back! Got this game and it is amazing how much this console has moved on since I last had one. The graphics in this game are stunning as are the car and track physics etc. A dream to play and the replays are jaw dropping!

Good game but there is only 3 stages to each rally which is really annoying but graphics are excellent.
