This is serious stuff, which is to say it's quite difficult. Challenging, anyway.I started out in the 'Rally School', drove around a gravel car park, demolished a picnic table and rolled the car. "You're a natural at this," Richard Burns said, positively. Hmmm.He wasn't too pleased with my performance on the next lesson though, but if you do well enough, he shares a can of Red Bull with you.I suspect many will be tempted to jump straight into a 'Quick Rally' to see how much damage they can do to their car by ramming it into a tree. You'll soon tire of this though, because the graphics, when looking at the car (rather than looking out FROM the car) aren't all that good. Not a patch on, say,Gran Turismo, for replays: the car seems to hover above the road and replays can be jerky. I liked the way one of the doors swung open after a collision though, and ultimately fell off when I hit the next tree. However, the view from the car while you're driving is spot on - very realistic - and the weather effects excellent. The recreation of the Welsh country lanes is unlike anything I've seen before: it's very 'natural', with branches to push through, and superb trees. If you hit fences, you smash them. If you hit trees, your co-driver groans. Once, I saw a hare jump out of the undergrowth in front of me.The courses in other countries are equally stunning.I really haven't got the hang of it properly yet. Most of the roads are so narrow that one false move sends you into the trees, or sends the spectators running for their lives (the animated spectators are very effective). If the weather is bad, your visibility could be so poor that finding the road again takes a minute or two though. The game interface is very good, very straightforward. An annoyance is the time it takes for the next bit to load, so if you muck up your lessons in the rally school in the first two seconds, you have to wait twenty-five seconds to try again. So to sum up: apart from the dodgy replays and long loading times, and as long as you are prepared to put the time in to learn how to drive this thing properly and learn how to 'read' the pace notes, it's absolutely fantastic. If you need instant gratification though, steer well clear.

Not for casual gamers admittedly, but if you are a true Rally fan searching for that elusive Rally sim & are constantly frustrated by the likes of the overly arcadey WRC3 with its ridiculously late & poorly detailed pacenotes, then this is the game for you...and then some! Finally a Rally game that truly delivers accurate car handling, damage, pace notes and decent long complex demanding stages. The sensation of speed, engine sound (which is awesome) and other details - like the effect bumps in the road have on the car at high speed - are easily the best and most accurate available in PS2 driving games. On the down side, there is a lot of loading time and moving from one screen to another invariably means another 30 seconds wait for the next screen to load. This is especially annoying when, say, you are in the rally school trying to just have another quick go at that tricky handbrake turn test! All in all though, Best Rally game ever!!

If you REALLY want to know what its like driving a rally car then THIS is the game for you. No easy handling let offs that you get with the official WRC franchise games this game towers over all else for simulation style realism. After plenty of practice with a steering wheel you will start to reap the benefits as the adrenaline really kicks in! Bumps in the road, sliding on gravel, speeding along narrow tarmac roads all faithfully reproduced. Enough to make you seriously consider mortgaging the house and jacking it all in to take up rally driving full time. The best rally game there has ever been...

The most realistic, exciting, and fabulous driving game there is. Ended my first rally in a ditch upside down, second coasted to a halt with a wrecked engine. Ok so the graphics don't match WRC or Mcrae but they don't make you wince when you run wide and are heading for a group of tree's. Go to school learn how to drive and away you go... I cannot recommend this game enough.

Well this is supposedly the most realistic rally games coming out with all its realistic car handling and the console actually running the engine - don't understand fully at the moment but if it does stick to it and not dumb down the realism for more than a dedicated rally fan then this could be a very very good game!

This really has been worth the wait, there is currently no other rally game/sim that comes close in terms of detailed realism. There really is nothing much else to say.Stunning.
