This candle was well packed and I received it with no breakages in the glass or wooden lid. I'd not lit a candle with a wooden wick before so I went to the Woodwick website to see if there was anything I needed to be aware of. I'm glad I did and I would recommend you check it out as well to make sure you get the best out of your candle. From the Woodwick site - the recommended time you should burn the candle is 3-4 hours and you shouldn't extinguish it until the melted pool of wax has reached the glass - this way when you relight the candle the wax will be completely level. The site also explains about when you should trim the wood wick, that you should light the whole wick and about siting your candle. The candle is meant to evoke the beach and smell of tropical citrus, coconut and sea breeze. Hmmm. I didn't get any of that. It had a very nice smell but just like a nice perfume, maybe a little sandalwoody. The scent of it did permeate the room whilst it was burning but not in an overpowering way.I did initially find the wood wick slightly tricky to light but it was easier on subsequent lightings. I love the crackling sound it makes as it burns, though it's slightly more like static than burning wood. It would be great to light one of these on a winter evening. This candle is not cheap but I have been impressed with how long it's lasted so feel that it's worth the price. It would make a beautiful gift. It would be great if you could make use of the candle holder and lid as a container after the candle has burned.Overall - Stunning candle but make sure you check out the website so you get the best out of it.

Review is for the coconut candle. This is a multi page product so reviews may not correspond to the product you are looking at.This candle turned up in a Yankee Candle box and I thought it was a mis-pick item, but it is WoodWick, so I am guessing it is a Yankee Candle subsidiary?? The jar had a little greasy feel to it, but all was in good order and well packaged for the transport. The glass comes with a wooden top with rubber seal. The top is said to be suitable for a stand, but I wouldn't recommend it as it is polished wood and the glass slides too easily on it. The fragrance from the unburnt candle is a delicious blend of coconut and fruit. The unusual wooden wick certainly does crackle when lit,but to me the crackling is quite fast and sounds like a little more like a crackling gas burn than a gentle fireside, but it isn't unpleasant to listen to.The smell when burning is not overpowering and it certainly lifts the ambiance of the room and leaves a lingering coconut smell. It really does smell good enough to eat.EDIT: Originally gave this 4 stars, but after using it for several days now, guests have commented how nice the house smells. The scent really has lifted the ambience of the rooms. Absolutely love it, so much so that I have bought a larger one, which was even better packed than the small one. If you do get one, there is some instruction to rub off and remove any older charred wick to keep it short. You don't have to, but the wick might smoke a little until it burns down.

I am very amazed by the features that this stylish candle packs. Starting with the design, this candle comes in a sleek and well-crafted glass. It doesn’t have a boring cylindrical shape, but rather the glass narrows around the middle and widens on the extreme sides, making the design and shape very appealing. The cover is wooden and also very appealing in colour and build quality. I usually put it below the candle which adds extra elegance.Once lighted, the candle starts making some amazingly unique crackling sounds. It really mimics a fireplace and gives a feeling of warmth especially in these cold days. The sound is loud enough to be heard but not disturbing at all,so it can be placed nearby either while chilling or working. This scent in particular (At the beach) is not very intense compared to other WW candles I tried before, and this is what I like about it. As I work from home, I like scents to be less intense while working. I also prefer less intense scents when in small places like when taking a bath. This candle is very durable as it is claimed to last for up to 130 hours which I find really massive. It is the longest lasting candle I ever had. In fact it is amazing value for money compared to the small variant or the ellipse variant which last 60 hours and 50 hours respectively.

Having been a massive fan of Yankee Candles for several years, I was excited to try this woodwick candle.Having got through the three boxes it came packaged in, which seems a tad excessive but ensures it arrives in one piece, I was impressed with the quality of the glass jar and the candle topper. The top is heavy and everything feels very premium. The scent of this candle is like a nice aftershave. It’s sophisticated and smells very pleasant, without being overbearing or smelling artificial. The added benefit of woodwick candles is the gentle, subtle crackling effect when burned. It’s quite comforting especially as the nights draw in.With regards to the “throw” which is the strength and reachability of the scent,it quickly filled the room within about half an hour. I did notice it burnt quicker than other candles, and it’s more expensive too, so you will find yourself replacing them more often.Overall I was very impressed. A lovely looking candle which has a strong, pleasant scent and looks and feels very expensive

Comes in a plain hourglass shaped container with a wooden top. At first I was not happy with the colour of the wax then realised it was supposed to represent wet sand, i used the top as base to sit candle on and the smell of wet sand hit me immediately before lighting it. When lit it there was the comforting sound of the fire crackling. Its a long time since I heard that. I had not heard of woodcock candles before but will certainly be using them more now. I like it24 th october Received medium candle with currant smellLove this candle. Comes in a slight hour glass shaped container with a wooden lid. The lid can be used to stand candle on when in use.i have used it for the advised 3 hours and found the smell delightful and very reminiscent of bygone Christmases. The red colour too will add to the Christmas decorationsI will definitely be keeping it for Christmas Day when we are having our first 'grown up ' christmas for many years so candles are permitted. I love it

This is a lovely large scented candle which should burn for a long time and provides a wonderful fragrance. The smell is pretty floral for a beach scent - no fried donuts or vinegar fish and chips here. For me it brings to mind sand dunes with sea grass and white washed high end beach shops selling drift wood art and.... err... scented candles?.... or maybe that's just me. I do really like it.What sets these scented candles apart from others on the market is the Pluswick system. Rather than the traditional string wick it is a wooden cross running through the candle that burns very cleanly and evenly producing a nice little crackle effect. The lid is a wooden affair with a rubber seal which doesan excellent job of containing the scent when in place. If in these times of Covid-19 restrictions you have someone who is missing the beach, then this beautiful candle would make a lovely gift.

If you like Pina Colada then the scent of the ‘Island Coconut’ candle is likely to appeal as that is the scent I get, mixed in with some vanilla. Yummy enough to eat, almost.I like the crackle from the wick being burnt and, so far anyway, it does appear to ensure the candle burns down more evenly. I may struggle to burn for the recommended minimum 3 hours however, so this will not be my regular go-to candle for only that reason. The hourglass shaped container is different from the norm and looks special when used as a centrepiece on the table or in prime position on the mantelpiece. I will use it as a votive holder once the candle has been fully used.Packaging is thoughtfully 100% cardboard and thus fully recyclable whilst also looking good enough if gifting. An excellent Secret Santa or stocking filler idea, particularly if the recipient likes Pina Colada.

These candles are a good size (16cms high and 10cms wide) and look really nice withe a distinctive hourglass shape and a wooden top. The smell (Sand and driftwood) once the candle is lit is quite strong but pleasant - reminding me of the smell of old Catholic Churches that used incense. The wooden wick tackles the main problem with large candles - that of not melting the whole width of the candle. When lit the wick crackles - but not too loudly that it will disturb your TV viewing. The wax melts across the width of the candles and burns down slowly - I estimate it will last for at least a month if you light it for several hours most evenings. My only criticism is that the Sand and Driftwoodcandle is a murky brown in colour which even though it blends with my decor I wouldn't buy for myself - still there are plenty of other colours to choose between.

Purchased in the Black Friday sale and the price was excellent,Woodwick take some beating when it comes to quality and fragrance.Had not experienced this one before (purchased as a present)scent was nice but not as strong as others i have come across that have been used at the same distance away and found that it had to be quite close to the user to fully appreciate it.When received from Amazon it honestly had the best quality packaging so far received for these candles, as in the past had received a number of these that had been broken when delivered (not from Amazon)but received 2 and they were both in dedicated packaging and completely intact and unmarked

I like Woodwick candles and this one is no exception. They do take a little management though when it comes to maintaining the wicks, but once you've got that side of things worked out they work really well. The sound of the wick burning is impressive, although to me it sounds more like rain on a tin roof than the crackling of a fire. The fragrance is quite strong (coconut) and one that could my wife could smell throughout the house. The candle lasted for just short of fourteen days burning for around 4-5 hours a day. One good thing about these candles is that the jars once cleaned make great little plant pots.

This is an absolutely lovely candle. The very solid glass jar and the wooden lid give it a feel of quality and luxury. The scent is fresh without being overpowering. I've been burning it for a quite a few evenings and it's lasting well, so it seems like value for money. The only thing is that it is quite noisy! I'm not sure that the crackle of the wooden wick is quite as "soothing" as the tag line suggests. Depending on your personal tolerance for noise you might find that the sound gets on your nerves a bit! Personally I'm used to it and now and don't mind it, but I wouldn't say it's a relaxing sound.

I have never had a candle that crackles as it burns, but the wooden wick at the middle of this candle does exactly that. It seems to smoke slightly at times, but it's a nice effect. The smell, unlike many of these scented candles, isn't overpowering and has a pleasant fruity smell. As usual with candles, I'm left wondering exactly how much has been spent on the glass container, as it's very nice, and an hourglass shape. I never seem to find a good use for them when the candle is finished, though!I'm not a fan of Yankee Candles because I think they're over-scented, but this one I like.

Had this burning all night and its not touched the wax much so I think you will get longivity out of tis candle which concidering the price would make it good value for money. It was a lovely smell and was not too over powering. The wick is special as I have never seen one like this before in a upright candle. It crackles and the flame burned so the wax pooled evenly. There was no dip and the wick stayed upright ready to light again. Lovely wooden lid as well and being in a glass jar made it feel very premium so would be a nice gift.

28.10.2018

I really like these Woodwick candles which (as the name suggests) have wooden wicks which don't burn down as quickly as traditional wicks and produce a nice, soothing crackling sound as they burn. The robust glass jar comes with a tight fitting wooden lid which can be used as a stylish base for the candle.I'm not overkeen on the scent of coconut and thankfully this 'Island Coconut' candle is subtle rather than overpowering. I think these candles are slightly more expensive than Yankee but they look a lot more stylish.

This is an attractive candle with a very nice, albeit quite subtle scent. For some reason the fragrance seems a bit stronger when it is unlit than when it is lit. I read a number of reviews complaining about damage to the candle and wick but mine was fine and I had no problems lighting the wick. The effect is very pretty with a wide flame across the centre of the bowl. The crackling effect is muted - it certainly doesn't put you in mind of an open fire or log burner. The price is reasonable for the size of candle.
