Having been a fan of the Tropico series for many years I've invested countless hours building my own tropical dictatorships. Whilst I've thoroughly enjoyed each release, they're not perfect and often a bit buggy. Unfortunately Tropico 6 is no exception and is essentially a re-skimmed version of Tropico 5. I can't comment on the single play campaign as I only play in sandbox mode, but here are my thoughts so far.Firstly, the positives...- Crisp, vibrant 4K visuals- More choice of buildings (mostly tourism based)- Still retains the humour and wit of the previous instalments- More choice of islands- Added addition of tunnels and bridgesNow, the not so good...- The dreaded soft population cap is back, once you hit 2,000 plus (which seems to be the max population) the game slows right down. Incredibly frustrating, so keep your cities small!- Very clunky menus and user interface- Tunnels are hard to place- Less choice of scenery and no more parks with trees- Islands are far too big given the small population cap - You won't fill them- World Wonders are too hard to obtain as you need to complete raids, which is confusing in its self- Long load timesAll things considered it's a worthy successor and fans of the Tropico series will the enjoy the new additions, but given its shortcomings even devout El Presidente fans will soon revolt.

After the slight disappointment of Tropico 5, this is a return to form. They've included the best parts of 5, such as eras and research and also some things in previous versions that many people missed in 5 like election speeches. New features include being able to build a nation on several smaller islands and to loot wonders of the world such as the Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower. The game is built entirely from the ground up in the Unreal Engine this time and it looks beautiful. The interface feels better and more intuitive than ever. The hardware requirements are also much higher than for previous Tropico games. The previous ones needed only a fairly low end computer to run for the time.A mid-range machine from the last few years is required here, with a reasonably powerful dedicated graphics card (GTX 750Ti is the minimum).I'm more of a sandbox player, but one thing that some may miss is a campaign, instead there are several missions instead. Overall the game has more content at launch than previous versions and I can only see it getting better with patches and DLC.

I remember playing an earlier version on another console and this is remarkably similar despite it's 'El Prez Edition' banner headline, (In fact, the 'extra' download content is just the manual and postcards already in the box unless I'm missing something). Not a bad game by any means, which is basically build stuff while under time and in game character pressure constraints but you can play at various difficulty levels to progress. One small gripe, which seems to be getting worse with more and more games released these days, not just this one, is the amount of 'tutorial' learning needed to play a game. It took hours just to work out what does what and trust me,you need to pick it up at the start to progress but that said, it's a light-hearted, fun enough game to while away some time, with plenty to occupy and containing a basic grasp of economics for younger players. I've paid more for a lot less and this just about gets a four star rating from me, because of it's overall content and potential game hours to complete, with a side of tongue in cheek dark humour.

Oh my gosh! Firstly, Tropico 6's UI confused the hell out of me because it is so different from Tropico 5. I first thought that the UI is a lot worst than its predecessor, but I was wrong. Yes, it takes practice to master its new control scheme but just take the time and you will soon get used too it.The game is a blast to play, especially if you start to realize how things work and its new God given mechanic that will allow you to link islands in order to boost your production and economy. OMG, I am getting addicted to this new scheme i. Tropico 6. This is definitely a must buy for similator lovers.Enjoy being the El Presedente of your own island.?️?️?️?️?

easy to learn. if you are bright. nice graphics and easy to figure out. however, you must be super ace at life skills and have a good understanding the Real world to play this and win? cos I cannot win without cheating by setting the cash and unlimited. lol its a great game, but you must be an economic genius to be a winner

Have loved Tropico since Tropico 3. Whilst struggling to adapt to the economics at the start with new systems and money making schemes. After a brief learning curve the game is fun, easy to learn, and easy to play on Console. Fun way to pass the time for sure!

My wife loves being a dictator and smoking Cuban cigars. Now she can do it in the game too! Great improvements and additions to last release, while retaining the humour and atmosphere. Was a welcomed Christmas present.
