I was initially put off by the number of reviews which said that the sensor alarm gave numerous false alarms, but having contacted TT beforehand, who told me as long as it is positioned correctly this should never happen, I went ahead and bought one. What everyone doesn't mention, is that if you do get false alarms, you can switch the sensor mat off, using the monitor as a standard baby monitor.I have a wooden slatted cotbed with a sprung mattress, the monitor was placed completely flat (No wobbles) roughly chest height where my baby normally sleeps.I must say that I have been really impressed by this monitor. It is reassuring listening to the blips of your baby's movements rather than straining your ears trying to listen to your baby's tiny breaths.(I must add that this sensor seems sensitive enough to detect your baby's breathing!)The clarity is very good, but it doesn't seem to be as sensitive as my old BT monitor (used for my first child). The battery life seems to be much better though. In the 6 months I have had this, there have been 2 possible false alarms (Waking to find a flashing red light which means that the alarm had been activated but movement is now being detected, throwing us into panic mode!)This leads me onto the negatives for this monitor. The alarm sound level cannot be adjusted, it just seems like it's not loud enough (Although if you pick your baby up, forgetting about the sensor mat, the alarm does get a bit piercing). And the reassuring blips I mentioned earlier, they cannot be adjusted either, which means at noisier times it is difficult to hear and at bedtime when you are trying to sleep you have random blips constantly going off. (You can turn the sensor tones off and keep the sensor active, but personally I would of preferred the option of keeping them on but with variable levels)If you are worried about SIDS, then you really can't go wrong with this monitor. For the price of a standard monitor, you have the reassurance that your baby's movements are constantly being detected and will alert you if the unspeakable should ever occur).Would I recommend this? Definitely. This would of got the full 5 stars if all sound levels could be adjusted, but overall I am really pleased and I am glad I didn't listen to the negative comments.

We bought this kit as we have bought lots of other Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature stuff. I think it looks smart, visitors always ask what it is as it doesn't look 'babyish'.The sound is as though the baby is in the same room, it is so clear. The two way function is great- more so for speaking to the other half than the baby though. The cradle could be a bit better as the monitor is easily knocked the base but generally we have been really happy with this monitor and have had it for a couple of months. However, we weren't really using the sensor pad much when the baby was sleeping in the crib right next to our bed.We have started to use it more recently as baby has moved to a cot in his own room on a different floor to ours and also has taken to sleeping on his front (and as this is not advised we worry more about something happening but he just WILL NOT stay put). But since we have been using it under his cot mattress (we place it in the middle as he moves about so much) the alarm has gone off unnecessarily every couple of nights. This is obviously terrifying as we leap out of bed and rush to his room only to find him sleeping peacefully. We are getting annoyed as our sleep is being broken more than necessary but don't want to get to the point where we just ignore it as it could be a real emergency, and we don't want to not use it as we paid to have this peace of mind over a straight forward audio monitor. The pad is about A4 size so maybe a bit small for a baby who wriggles about a lot? His mattress is deep and sprung so maybe this hinders it a bit? When we used it in his crib under the thin foam mattress it never went off. Thankfully the alarm hasn't woken him up yet as it is actually quite quiet (it goes off from both ends of the monitor). As an audio monitor I would give it 5 stars so maybe go for the one that is £35 cheaper without the pad if you have a thick mattress?

we have the non digital one of these given to us by a friend:)If im honest everything ive had of tommee tippee hasnt been very good. I know a lot of people have good experiences with this brand so maybe it is personal preference. I found the tomee tippee breast pump useless and all the bits couldnt be sterilsed so i replaced with an avent combined electric and manual one. We replaced the tomee tippe steam sterilser with an avent one as the lid didnt fit correctly. we reaplced the tomeee tippee bottles with avent ones as the plastic went funny (mottled and sort of bumpy after sterilising.the avent stuff all fits together really well and is interchangable with other products, like easy to hold trainer beakers, the pumps, storage containers and such like. Unfortuntaley now i think ive exhausted most the tomee tippee feeding products so i dont think there is much left to give a chance too. Im sure other people have positve experiences with this product but it just wasnt working for us.HOWEVER: we have found the tommee tippee baby movement monitor fantastic, no problems, brilliant sensitivty and peace of mind. so long as the little green light flashes we know baby is sound asleep and ok, negating need of the new parent nervousness to check why baby is so quiet and if she is till breathing :) the baby movement and sound monitor is an excellent product.

This product has been one of our best baby buys. It gives us reassurance without causing paranoia. The respiratory clicking sound it makes is just right- you sort of tune out of it but listen subconsciously and the alarm noise is good too. We've had 2 false alarms in three weeks which has been totally acceptable for us given the usefulness the rest of the time. I love the fact that there is a little green flashing light indicating breathing and a little blue flashing light indicating noise i.e. crying etc so you have a visual as well as audio way of checking the baby at all times. It's portable, robust and has plenty of charge for use in other rooms as needed as long as you put it on to charge in the base overnight. My only criticism hence four stars not five, is that the audio can't be turned up very high volume wise so quiet noises made by the baby are a little hard to hear over background noise if you're in another room. Otherwise I love it and would buy it again, for the money it's an excellent must have item.

We really liked having this monitor for piece of mind that baby was ok. We used it for two of our children and found it very rarely went off and that was normally because they had moved so much fhey had left the mat. Even as big movers they didnt do this often. My middle child had sleep apnoea which wasnt diagnosed until after she had outgrown this monitor and it didn't pick this up but i think her episodes of non breathing were less than what this monitor alerts for. She has since had an operation to fix her issue.I would say this was easy to put on. We first had a cot with a solid bottom but we just put a little hole in the bottom for the wire to fit through. We found the wires an issue but easily attached them to the cot leg with cable ties so they weren't a safety issue. When we went to a cot with slats we simply put it on a flat, thin piece of hardboard and it worked perfectly. We tested it regularly. The sound part worked very well, no issues. I would recommend this product.

To all the people complaining about the "false alarms" would you rather it was real and something did happen to your child?I love this product. I have had it for over 2 years now and it still works perfectly.you hear everything through this monitor, if positioned in the correct place. My screens are both working perfectly, the alarm can be turned down if your child is in their room playing making lots of noise. I stopped using this monitor months ago as my some is just over 2 now, but started using it again the other night as my son isn't well. I had forgotten just how great the monitor was, i could hear his little footsteps going through the room, he coughed I was awake. He did anything I was awake.Yes I did have a few false alarms when he was little but I'm so great full that they where just false alarms. My son did stop breathing a few tines but he was in a deep sleep and by the time we got to him he was back to normal. I would recommend everyone to buy this.

This monitor has completely lived up to my expectations. The first thing I did was read the instruction manual from cover to cover in order to turn off the 'tick' noise when a movement is detected (yes this can be turned off once you figure out the buttons on the parent unit!). The green light flashing on both units gives great peace of mind that your little one is ok. The alarm has only gone off once and thank God it did as it alerted us to the fact that our baby had momentarily 'forgotten' to breath when he was 8 days old. I hate to think what would have happened if we hadn't bought this. So if you are a paranoid parent like myself and need a digital monitor (as opposed to the angelcare version)then definitely buy this, especially as it is at a bargain price at the moment!UPDATE - Now using the movement mat under a cot mattress as our baby has outgrown his crib. Still works fine and has only gone off a few times when he has wriggled too far!

Haven't had it long but been an awesome little monitor. The sensor pad works fine in moses basket. Signal is clear with no interference.Could do with better explanation on the sound sensitivity levels/sensor sensitivity. The sound sensitivity can be set from 1-5 but I have no idea if 5 is most sensitive or if 1 is most sensitive. Same with the sensor pad sensitivity switch on the baby unit, it goes from 1 bar to 3 bars but again no idea what way round it is.First unit I received was faulty as the parent unit would not charge but amazon had replacement to me the next day.Temperature monitor is really handy feature, as well as the talk back and nightlight features.Would definitely recommend this to a friend,my sister uses this and recommended it and I couldn't be happier. Plus for the price it was a steal for a digital monitor with sensor pads and all these other features!

I love this monitor and can't imagine not having it. After stressing continually with my first baby I wanted something to reassure me and allow me to sleep without panicking. Yes we have had some false alarms, some where we have found the sensor pad has moved and some whereby we couldn't find out why it went off but we would much rather be disturbed by a false alarm than not have the alarm at all. Also one false alarm occurred the night before we had an incident with his breathing - so who knows if it really was false (was fine as soon as we had checked). I also like the digital thermometer on both the units although I find the nightlight too dim for anything practical like night feeds.Never had any problems hearing baby through the monitor and seems to pick up his little noises really well. Would definately recommend this product.

We had an Angel Care for our first baby and frankly it was a bit of a pain, with the weird LCD buttons. It started going haywire when we had our second so we replaced it, and this was cheaper. The mat system is almost identical, but the handset uses rubber buttons, much easier. I wish we’d had this one first! The alarm is also not so piercing - anyone with a newborn knows you essentially wake up if they sigh too heavily, so the “your baby isn’t breathing” alarm just needs to make a noise, it doesn’t need to wake the dead! We’ve had no false alarms with this one and I feel like we had them all the time with the Angel Care. Plus, it is a reassuring mechanical slide switch to turn on the motion sensor, not another stupid LCD button.

Love love love this mat. Our daughter is now 4 months old and we've used this almost from birth. When I wake in the night it's nice to see the sensor mat light flashing away so I know she's safe and sound. It's a huge reassurance for me. The pressure mat has gone off a few times for no reason our daughter was absolutely fine she was sound asleep while we both ran around like headless chickens freaking out! But it's not gone off for a few weeks now so maybe it just wasn't positioned correctly. The temperature gauge on the unit is lit up so you can see how warm the room is. The night light is a great feature it's a really soft light so you can pop it on with out waking anyone else in the room.I'mso pleased we bought this x

We tried a couple of different brands of monitors / safety mats (thanks to awesome amazon customer service) and we definitely preferred this one.We had much less false alarms with the mat - which to be honest was our main reason we preferred this one.But also the quality of the sound on the parent monitor seems better as well, and also we loved the talkback feature that other brands don't utilise. We never use it to talk to our baby - but instead to each other when we need to ask for something from downstairs or something! It was also invaluable when she was feeding lots in the nights - I would tell my wife when I was coming back upstairs so she could get her ready for a feed etc

i purchased this product from kiddicare for full price didnt think of looking on here but the mat has been a good investment as my baby was a prem it put our minds at ease there was a couple of times it went off wen she was first home so that panicked us alot but she was fine. now though that she is 8 months old n moves constantly that mat goes off more which we still rush in to her nursery but shes sound alseep. will be trying her without the mat next week as the alarm sometimes wakes her not sure how i would cope though. bottom line this has been the best thing i ever brought and would recommend this to everybody its well worth the full price and even better if u can get it cheaper

I have had this mat for just over a year and i have to say it has been a godsend , it really puts my mind at rest, there has been a couple of nights recently when my little one rolled off the mat and it didnt sense him, all i did was preposition the mat to where he normally rolls to and problem solved, i would much rather have to get up in the night to preposition my baby than face the alternative , as for the battery life of the monitor we regularly have it off the stand for an excess of twelve hours and i can count on one hand in the last twelve months how many times it has beeped to say low batter, i would highly recommend this to all new parents and wouldn't live without it

I can't rate this any better. As a new mum I was terrifiedto leave my little one on his own even just to make a cuppa. Since having this monitor its made me so much more relaxed. Only ever had 1 false alarm but to be fair the mat wasn't positioned properly. I would say to put the mat directly under your child's back so it picks up chest movements. I don't think worry ever goes away completely and I wouldn't recommend relying on a monitor 100% but I can say I now sleep for most of the night without worry with is great for a new mummy. Lots of reviews say that the alarm noise is annoying. To be fair, if it played a nice tune you wouldn't react as fast. Can't recommend enough!!!
