I bought one of these because I had pain on the inside bony part of the elbow. Searching the internet this is called Medial Epicondyltis. Otherwise known as ‘golfers elbow’ or ‘climbers elbow’ and is damage to the tendons of the forearm. It is usually caused by overuse such as taking up a new sport or activity too quickly, and in my case was very sore and painful. Looking on various internet sites the FlexBar is suggested as a means of rehabilitation. The FlexBar is a 12 inch long round bar made of a dry rubber material and has a ridged surface. They come in different colours that have a different level of resistance. Red is the lighter one, then green with the blue bar having the highest resistance.I decided to go for the green one and this seems to offer the right level of resistance for me.As others have mentioned this arrives with a booklet of exercises written only in German. However it doesn’t take long to find descriptions of the exercises to do on the internet.I found a very useful You Tube video - search for ‘ Intrinsi, formally The English Osteopaths’. They have a video called ‘How to use a Theraband Flexbar for wrist, elbow or shoulder rehab’ – this covers all the exercises you can do. Also the ‘Thera-band Academy’ site has a leaflet you can download in English and details of exercises. It is also worth searching for the ‘Tyler Twist’ (for tennis elbow) and ‘Reverse Tyler Twist’ (for golfers elbow). Most of the exercises for tendonitis problems are what are known as ‘eccentric’ exercising. This is a fairly well established concept and means exercising a tendon by starting with it contracted and then letting it extend under load. This is how both the ‘Tyler twist’ for tennis elbow and ‘reverse Tyler Twist’ for golfers elbow work. There are other exercises that can be performed with the FlexBar for wrist, forearms and shoulders.I have combined using this with stretching exercises and t only take a few minutes each day. I have had an almost immediate improvement in my elbow. Obviously may not work for everyone but in my experience so far, well worth the money.

I have only just received this so can only review with an initial impression which is overall positive.I work as a builders apprentice and have suffered from lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) for several months. The condition prevents me from using a hammer and is also very painful with any movement involving loaded extension of my wrist/elbow and this is very obviously detrimental to my career.I have used stretching exercises, ice, massage all to no improvement. The nature of my work means any reduction in inflammation in muscle/tendon in my forearm is quickly undone by repetitive and heavy movement.I need a treatment that will strengthen as well as stretch the affected tissue and i believe the Flexbar is the best option. The band works by stretching the affected muscles and connective tissue under load. Having used the flexbar for the first time i was aware that i could not even straighten my arm due to pain throughout the exercise. Now into four days using it for 5 reps at a time i can straighten my arm though it is still painful, there is definitely no doubt it engages the appropriate muscles!I am not expecting a complete recovery from tennis elbow but want to get to a stage where i can work without having to protect my arm. I don't mind some pain but if you are reading this you may appreciate the way the condition will cause your arm to become immobile which is very frustrating. So far the flexbar has given me confidence that i may make a recovery to the point i can have mobility and strength in my elbow.

This is awesome!Had been having elbow pain for about 6 weeks before my osteopath diagnosed tennis elbow.I couldn’t lift a kettle anymore, big problem to a tea drinker..! When testing my individual finger strength by pressing finger to thumb, ring finger and middle finger were really painful. It improved a bit through stretching for two weeks and acupuncture. But then came across the thereband bar, ordered the green one.I have to admit, at first the green might have been a bit strong as the first day using it was pretty sore. However, I didn’t do as many reps as recommended in a youtube video (recommended were 3 sets of 15 reps per day), but only 3 sets of 5 reps to start with.I also noticed some small adjustments in the elbow muscles like little release "clicks".Within three days, I noticed my strength increasing and less pain.I have been using it for 6 days and am now pain-free! Will persist for another 5 weeks or so.What a difference it has made! Finger strength test now without pain, really chuffed about this and can only recommend!!I’ve seen a few comments where people claimed this was a marketing trick and that there were no studies to substantiate the company’s claim this worked.I didn’t look up the studies, but am pretty amazed by the result first hand. Well worth it from my experience.

I have a bit of golfers elbow from over playing tennis. Thought I'd try one of these before it got bad, hence I have the harder to twist green and blue ones as I am not in chronic pain. It does work - you twist it with good arm and then let the bad one slowly release at the wrist (the aim is to extend the injured tendon under tension). This with a bit of stretching and massage helps it to heal stronger (you want to break up weak scar tissue and replace it with strong tissue). I have noticed a difference allowing me to play more. However you can do the same thing by just putting your bad arm on your leg or a chair arm and then using your good arm/body weight to push down your on clenched fingers as you strain against it.This actually works better then the flexbar as you have finer control over the amount and angle of the pressure. So in summary:+it does work.+it's easy to keep at your desk, or by the sofa and then do a few reps.-it's even easier to do an exercise without the bar.-the bars can corkscrew a bit with sufficient torque (ie. the full twist you see the big muscled guys on youtube do) which is non ideal.-the blue bar is too wide to grip easily unless you have monster hands.

Love this thing - works very well to relieve forearm pain, in my case brought on my playing badminton 2-3 times a week. My treatment has been to wear a brace while playing (I recommend the Band-It), along with using the Flexbar daily. I found the following video very helpful in showing the exercises to use:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we4UoiKG3Co - this one is for tennis elbowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P-QOaCoDWY - golfer's elbowIn the videos another product (The Stick) is recommended for loosening the muscles before starting the exercises, but I improvised with what I had and used the Flexbar as a massage tool. It seems pretty effective, just brace it against a table/worktop,lean your forearm into it, then roll it around to hit the tight/sore spots. One thing I would say is to check Amazon US prices before ordering. I already had the green bar from the UK site but also wanted the red and blue. It was actually cheaper to buy both from the US site, and that includes international postage and customs fees - crazy! One added benefit of ordering from the US is that the instructions come in english. When I ordered my green bar, it came with german instructions!

I was sceptical about this thing because, well, it's just a rubber bar, but after a couple of weeks of doing the required exercise 3 times a day, there has been a genuinely dramatic improvement. The pain hasn't completely gone, but the constant throbbing and burning pain that became absolutely searing as soon as I tried to pick anything up, disappeared within days of beginning to use this thing. When I first started the exercises it was very sore to be honest, and I could barely straighten my arm out when the bar was under minimal tension. But now I can happily fully extend my arms, and do 15-20 reps on my extensors, and 20-25 reps on the pronator muscles, with the bar under real tension.I will probably buy the blue bar and take the resistance up a notch. I'm slightly addicted to the exercises to be honest, just because it's so obviously working and being relatively pain free after months is such a relief.

I received this product less than a week after i placed my order. The box contained the flex bar and a multilingual instructions manual, however i found many youtube videos demonstrating the use of the flexbar, so after two videos (took less than ten minutes to watch both videos) i knew how to use the flexbar properly. I received this product only a week ago and have been using it since then (three consecutive sets of fifteen repetitions each, a day, with half minute rest between each set), so i can't state whether it healed my tendonitis problem or not. What i can state for sure, is that i can feel the muscles of the affected area being worked up and i can already notice a slight reductionof pain albeit the short period of time use.

I rarely submit reviews though this is worth passing on. I had pain in my left elbow joint and couldn't pick up even a litre of juice without experiencing shooting pains in my forearm preventing me lifting the item. The GP suggested anti inflammatories and rest, the Physio identified the issue and recommended a set of exercises.Thera band is superb, some days became too painful to use but the steady progress of recovery has been excellent. The instructions are in German though youtube clarifies the basic moves and they're learned really quickly.I highly recommend this to anyone suffering tennis elbow or that needs to increase their grip/forearm strength.

I bought this item a few months ago as I was suffering from golfers elbow from starting weightlifting. After reading several good reviews I decided to purchase the flexbar green. The item arrived quickly and I searched on youtube and found many different videos including[...]I performed these exercise a few times each day and each week I began to notice improvements. After a couple of months the niggle has almost gone away and I am able to use my elbow fully. This item is a great for rehabilitation and can be used anywhere.I suspect that this would be equally beneficial for tennis elbow as well.

I have been using this product for a couple of weeks with great success. I saw a video on Youtube promoting this product for sufferers of both tennis & golfer's elbow. I have suffered from tennis elbow for almost a year and nothing had helped me until I tried this. I'm still waiting to see the NHS physio to tell him about this fantastic product. Tennis elbow is really difficult to get rid of especially if your work doesn't allow you complete rest from movements which continue to irritate the tendons. This product has allowed me to carry out my work where everything else has failed!

<snigger, snigger> , <fnaar, fnaar> ..... Well this is a great piece of kit.Tennis elbow? - get this, works a treat. There is an excersize chart but go to Youtube and you'll see better demonstrations.BUT! - what were the marketing people thinking??? The picture on the box makes it look as though I've just taken delivery of a 'special' item from a 'special' store. Seriously, even the woman in the photo appears to be able to barely contain herself :-DSeriously, get this kit, but if you're as immature as me then be prepared to snigger loudly at the packaging!

As a tennis coach, I deal a lot with new players coming to the club with tennis elbow due to poor technique. It takes time to change the technique and some players have to take a break due to the pain. NOT ANYMORE. Thanks to this Thera-Band, tennis elbow is not a problem anymore. 10 twists for 2 or 3 days and your tennis elbow has gone. Even the shoulder gets better thanks to this amazing, simple and cheap product.Seriously this is not a miracle but close enough.Highly recommendedAnd apparently you can also use it for other exercises.

This has been the only thing that has given me complete relief from my tennis elbow.I have had tennis elbow for a year, brought on by doing kettle bell swings.I tried chiropractor, ice, rest, massage but nothing gave me any relief. The first time I used this I could feel the relief from the constant pain. It's been wonderful and very simple and quick to use.I'm a small female with relatively strong arm muscles and I purchased the green which has been perfect for me.I would highly recommend this for anyone with tennis elbow.

Well made product. Tests strength in forearm when completing reps of 15-20. As a cure for tennis elbow, it didn't work on its own. Took me 12 weeks to bring pain down to allow a return to the golf course - but when adding the Thera-band exercises to manipulation from osteopath and ice on the elbow each day, it all seemed to help. Green band was ideal for me (sporty male). I'd avoid an ego rush and stay away from the heavier band if you are using this for rehab.

I bought this to help with elbow rehab (strained tendon preventing rotation). I've only had this 4-5 days and already have noticed a huge improvement just by doing a few exercises and playing around with the bar whilst working. As an added bonus my wrist, which has been crunching for years after too much keyboard work over 30 years, is already much smoother and getting stronger. I'm really impressed! This medium weight is ideal for me (fit mid 40s man).
