I ordered this game for a fairly reduced price, and I must admit, I'm glad I didn't pay full whack for it!Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game by any means, it's fun and action packed with some awesome graphics and good voice-over work during the great cutscenes and lots of cheeky lines throughout.First thing I noticed about the game when I started playing it was that it borrows a LOT from the Arkham Asylum/City games, and I mean a LOT! This in itself isn't really a bad thing as those games set the high-ranking benchmark for how superhero games should be made, however this game doesn't do anything to add to the standard set by Rocksteady's superb Batman games and feels more like it's doingit's best to copy every element it can from those games while not really setting out it's own unique personality to difference itself from those games. Like I said though, it doesn't make it a bad game at all. After the first (tutorial) mission, you're set out free into the city of New York, which I must say looks spectacular! From the very rooftops of the huge skyscrapers right down to the bustling streets below, every inch looks and feels like Manhattan, it may not be exactly be to scale but given the limitations of modern consoles, the developers did a fantastic job recreating a very realistic looking setting, and it is pretty fun to be swinging around it all as Spidey. That brings me to my next point, the web-swinging mechanics. Although the overall feel of swinging around feels and looks very natural, I was left feeling a bit disappointed that they chose to make it be so the web hooks onto the clear sky above instead of actually hooking onto the nearby buildings/structures like they did in theSpider-Man 2 movie game. It may be a small issue but for me it kind of took away the element of feeling likehow Spider-Man does when he's swinging about the city. On top of that, there have been quite a few occasions where the camera jolts into a dodgy position and Spidey suddenly gets trapped against a building while swinging which can end up spoiling what should be the most fun you have while out on the streets. The story itself follows a plot which to me was just like a standard infection crises in a major city, like a typical zombie storyline but without the added risk of actually having to survive against thousands of infected hordes, instead you only deal with a handful here and there during the missions that are set inside. That's if you aren't battling tons of robots set out to kill Spidey. You do get the odd normal human thugs to battle with but it's spread so few and far between that it didn't really make me feel like a powerful superhero, just a regular smash 'em and bash 'em type of game setting.Speaking of combat, it borrows the fighting mechanic set in the aforementioned Arkham Asylum/City games and adds very little to the overall style, i.e X button for hitting Y button for reversing when the icon flashes above your head and when you build up your combo you get to unleash a signature move. If you've already played Arkham then you'll feel right at home fighting in this game. I was so much so that I found the hardest difficulty level to be easy when dealing with a handful of foes at one time.It isn't that long of a game, I was able to complete the main story in under 12 hours, and there's other stuff to do besides missions such as stopping petty crimes and taking part in challenges that ranch from checkpoint racing to taking certain photos for the newswoman who gets friendly with you. Also there's 700 comic book pages to collect as well as other stuff, if you collect enough comic book pages you unlock a handful of fully readable comics during the menu, which I found was a pleasant addition. My overall rating of the game:Story: 7.5/10 - Just a typical infected population storyline that's been done to death already, but with some good voiceover work proves to be pretty entertaining while it lasts.Graphics: 9.5/10 - I was totally blown away by how great everything looks in the game, with lots of detail and no 2 streets ever looking the same. The more Spider-Man gets beat up in a fight the more ripped and torn his suit gets and more scratches and deep gash wounds appear on his body underneath, which I thought looked great and very realistic.Gameplay: 8/10 - Plenty of fun elements with players of the Arkham series feeling right at home here with what to do, and only the occasional camera/movement glitch spoiling an otherwise fun game. The boss battles are all very repetitive though, all following the exact same pattern as the last one with no need to really have to think about how to take them down, although it makes up for this with the sheer scale of some of the foes you battle.Overall: 8/10 - A fun game while it lasts though it is a bit short and once you complete the game and collect everything, there's very little to have you coming back for more playing over and over again, so unless your a real Spider-Man fan or you like a decent action game to waste a few hours to, then buy this just don't go for the full £40 option, get it as cheap as you can lest you'll feel ripped off.

The Spider Man games have never truly reached their potential, but I have always enjoyed them. The best games to star the webbed wonder have opened up New York, allowing you to swing around and solve crimes. Last time out, `Spiderman: Edge of Time' did not do this, instead setting the game inside one building. Kudos to Activision that they have returned to the winning formula in `The Amazing Spider Man'; a tie in game that is actually very good. You, of course, play as Peter Parker's arachnid alter ego in a story set after the 2012 film ends. Gwen Stacey is trapped in OzCorp when a disease is spread that turns its victims into animal/human hybrids. You must search New York for a cure and even call on the help of The Lizard. The main enemies in the game are not the human/animal hybrids, but the OzCorp machines designed to destroy them. These machines are programmed to destroy anything with hybrid DNA, isn't that Spider Man? Yes!After a couple of early missions the game opens all of New York for you to play in, as well as main mission there are a series of fun side adventures, including capturing fleeing criminals. As an old school gamer I also liked the vast number of items you can collect, doing so will provide experience that you can then spend on improving Spidey's skill set. The feeling of swinging through the Big Apple is as good as ever and graphically `Amazing' is very solid, never glitching or tearing. I loved having the whole city to play in and tackling the various mini missions was as fun as the main action. The issues with the game are the repetitiveness, not only during `Amazing' itself, but also as a whole series. `Amazing' plays like an updated `Spider Man 2', but seeing as that is the best game in the series, that is not a bad thing. I actually didn't get bored with playing the same type of thing as I was enjoying myself, the action, fighting and swinging may be samey, but it's great. All the side aspects means that the game clocks in at an impressive length; 12-15 hours and is good value.

The new Amazing Spider-Man is a great game, taking place after the film but weirdly coming out before it, I strongly suggest you watch the film first, many spoilers! This game is very much like Spider-Man 2, which is a good thing! Even the music has been taken from the Treyarch series of Spider-Man! But the game has improved on things, mainly adding in little extras that look good on the eye and gameplay tweaks. The combat system has been completely changed, and works well, but play on Super-Hero difficulty for a challenge. However the combat in Arkham City is a lot better! The free roaming is far better in this game though, and on completion you can pick what time of day/ weather you want to roam about in!But what I most like about this game is how it plays true to the comics, the boss battles are great, oscorp plays a major part, Peter's apartment is used frequently, photo missions, car chases, stealth, great webbing techniques like webbing foes to the wall and webbing cars into giant webs on the side of buildings! Also more suits are easily obtained, like the original Spider-Man film series red and black suits, and comic book pages are scattered across the huge city, 700 to be exact, they unlock real Amazing Spider-Man comic books to read!So therefore I recommend this game, if you're looking for a game as stellar as Arkham City, well it's not! But this is the closest a Spider-Man game has have ever come to being that great!

I absolutely loved this game! I was in two minds at first as Spiderman 3 was such a let down. I played it for 10 minutes in HMV and thar was it. I was hooked. I bought the game the same day and played it for a good 6 hours that night. This game see's the return of free-roam, something that made Spiderman 2 the amazing game that it was. I loved having the ability to climb the tallest building in New York and just dive off it. The control you have over Spider-man in this game is astounding. With a simple click of RB - I play Xbox - you can have Spider-man web zip to a building, run along the windows and then leap into the air while doing some acrobatics that would make Olympic gymnasts envious.Another thing that completely kicks butt is the combat system - see what I did there? It's kind of Batman-esque. You can build up massive combo's and then unleash some amazing finishing moves. You can use the environment to your advantage by throwing all sorts of things at your enemies i.e. dustbins and gas cylinders - to name a few. You can hide in the shadow and perform scary silent take downs.Over all, I give this game a 10/10. It's great fun and is a good follow on from the movie.

I've read somewhere online that the film has been beaten by Ice Age 4 in the Cinemas which was a bit shocking but then i read that this game was beaten by Lego Batman....seriously?!Anyways so ignore all of this negativity and this game is actually pretty darn good! It's NEARLY as good as the Batman arkham games, in the way that there's side missions relating to several of the franchise's characters. The main thing i was dissapointed with is that some of the bosses are 'created' differently than the original comics would suggest, yet this is meant to be based on the comics, such as...majority of the bosses are created the same way as The Lizard in the film, but say Rhino,Scorpion ect...so if you're looking for a badass showdown with Shocker, Vemon, Mysterio ect...you won't find it here...but i'm guessing that's only because they could be the foes for the next Spidey movie....WHO KNOWS!Still an enjoyable, quite comedic game that should be a lot more popular than i've heard! The swinging is fun too, all free roaming ect. Oh and the game is set AFTER the film so watch that first.

What a great return for our beloved super hero Spider-Man. Exploring the open world of Manhattan by swinging your way through the city, stopping robbers, confronting Rhino (easily the best villain in this game). The wall climbing mechanic has been fixed so it is no longer confusing on which direction you are climbing, and the web swinging is fantastic, how the camera blurs as you swing your way through new York city making you feel like the Spider himself. I could go on all day praising this game as everything is done to near perfection for a Spider-Man game. My only concern with the game is the age rating, Beenox have certainly aimed this game towards an older audience, and while I have no problem with that a younger audience might. However all in all this is a great game filled to the brim with content to collect and explore while enjoying the fantastic storyline. Move over Batman Arkham City this is the new ideal superhero game to own.

I have only recently gotten back into gaming and got this as a Christmas present.I loved Spider-man 2 and was thrilled to see this is pretty much that but with more bells and whistles. The graphics are better, the combat is far more improved and the story runs on brilliantly from the film.Achievements are fairly easy to come by in this game but that just adds to the fun factor. It's an easy game to pick up, play and enjoy whatever your mood. The story is fairly short, but you can free-roam throughout the game and can continue to do so after you have completed it. I made full use of the free roam feature after completion to collect all 700 comic books (after you've collected the first 500,the last 200 are marked on your mini map. So not as tedious as it sounds.)I would highly suggest getting this game and just going nuts. I loved it so much that I bought Web of Shadows just to keep playing more Spider-man games.

This game takes place shortly after the movie and provides a great story for spidey fans to get into grips with. But does it rally live up to its name.Pros:*Great fluid combat similair to the arkham series*Swinging through manhattan is a precious gem everyone should try*The story is an excellent one and the voice acting is superb*The animations, combos, moves and stunts really make you feel like spiderman.*Unique boss fights*The controls are fantastic and suit the fast paced actionCons:*Story missions can sometimes be repetetive*The game is a bit short in my opinion*Camera angles get a bit clusteres when its close to spidey.(Like when stuck to a wall)*The games is too easyOverall I think this is a great game.If your into spiderman then this is a must buy. I rate this game an 8 out of 10

Finally, a Spider-Man game worth playing. This has been the best Spider-Man game so far for me. The close second being Spider-Man 2 which I played back on the PS2. The graphics are great, the storyline is very good (it continues from where the movie ends, so i recommend seeing that first, even though I don't recommend the movie in general, its not that great). Finding all the comic pages that are scattered through-out the city keeps you busy, as well as defeating thugs, stopping car chases, doing races and photoshoots etc. There's plenty to do during or after the main story.I'm determined to get every achievement in this game. It's great.

After the so-so 2011release of Edge of Time' we now have a new spider game based on the movie, based used loosely. The game picks up after the events of the movie so spoilers are in there. The game introduces villains like Rhino and Scorpion to the movie unerverse as well as others , and a exclusive game villain. This time the game is free-roam with a whole manhattan to explore. The web slinging is amazing and exciting while combat is copied from the batman arkham games, but hey copy a good combat system. Graphics are fairly good with spiders costume , some areas look bland but their good enough over all a brilliant game!

The amazing spderman is game that you can jump into and enjoy ,i was very pleased with the graphics in this game because on a pc with a good graphics it will bring out the best in this visual treat of a pc game. The amazing spiderman has some elements of the hit asm movie but is is much more fun playing spidey than watching the movie..pros- great fun.graphics are superb.easy to get into.feel like you are the char of spider.free roamingthe amazing spiderman has about 20 hours plus of game play and i enjoyed playing this game,a game worthy of the title 4 out of 5.

While I didn't buy the game from Amazon I purchased the Games on Demand version on Xbox Live and I must say I was surprised at just how entertaining it was. Even things that I normally find tedious such as searching for comic book pages, completing side-missions etc was pretty fun. I even found myself slightly miffed when I had completed most of the things in the game. The game unfortunately isn't worth a five star rating but it's one of the best looking and well functioning movie games out there, even if it does act as a sort of epilogue story to the actual movie.

9.8.2012

This is a really fun game to play, you don't need to think much you can just sit back and enjoy as you swing from building to building, that said it is a very short game and not worth £40 I got mine for free with an xbox but if I had paid for it I would have been slightly disappointed however this is a game I am glad I played. If you have a chance to rent it or pick it up for cheap then I would say do so but you wont be occupied for too long maybe a weekend at best, but it would be a good weekend :)

3.7.2012

In one word I would describe this game is, simply 'Fun'. A very enjoyable game were you can play as our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. I was hoping the game would start out as Peter Parker before becoming Spider-Man and then perhaps showing you how he got bit by the spider but still i enjoy playing it. The only negative point about this game is that the free roaming is not as good as the older ones, in my opinion, but still find it fun to swing around. Really do recommend buying this game.
