Not gonna lie, I rarely drink and know next to nothing about gin, so I'm not going to be able to comment on the Tanqueray botanticals: "The refreshing juniper, peppery coriander, aromatic angelica & sweet liquorice" like some of the esteemed gin experts here. They could have sent me a bottle of lighter fuel and I would've been none the wiser. Fact is, I was in lockdown alone with no friends, family or gym and I needed a hit of oblivion. Gotta say this really did the trick. Couple of slugs of this mixed with Ocean Spray cranberry juice went down a treat. Don't really know how to describe the flavour but it's pleasurably harsh,in no way sickly sweet and there's no doubt about its reassuring kick.Took out a tumbler to raise a glass to the carers and essential workers on the Thursday of the week Boris went into ICU and my new next door neighbour saw me said she could kill a drink. I put some surgical gloves on (see one of my earlier reviews, LOL) and gave her 300ml in a 500ml water bottle I emptied and left it on her wall with a fresh carton on Ocean Spray. We then went round the back and enjoyed a socially distanced drink through the gap in the fence whilst we listed to cheesey 80s music on TuneIn Radio. One of the positive experiences to come out of this awful time.Word to the wise, though, this stuff is so nice it could become addictive. I was surprised at how quickly I got through it even though I'd given some away. Would definitely buy again for a special occasion or Christmas/New Year tipple. In addition the bottle is quite impressive and it was a bargain at £20 I'm told. All in all, great product that has made me a gin convert as well as a new friend. Thanks for reading.

This is a traditional gin that has been around since1830, so you know that by now a mere 185 years later they have really got the hang of this gin making lark. The gin is utterly delicious, it is made with 4 “botanicals” –Juniper, Corriander,Angelica and Liquorice, when distilled these give the gin a warming flavour behind the instant Juniper that we all recognise in gin, it has a more citrusy finish that is very drinkable, sophisticated and utterly delicious. This is a 43.1% gin, so whilst no slacker in the alcohol content department it has not been distilled to blow your head off at the cost of flavour, this is a gin that grown-ups drink and enjoy -with a nice tonic (fever tree and bottle green are the best readily available ones we have found)an ice ball and a twist of lemon/ lime -well its served like this in our house anyway!Tanqueray have a range of other Gins that are worth a try too, some can be hard to get hold of though unfortunatleyTanqueray 10- Juniper, grapefruit and jasmine with vanilla richness to finish 47.3%Tanqueray Malacca- more grapefruit and citrus behind the juniper flavour 47.3%Tanqueray old Tom – Juniper, lemon and camomile - malty and floral 47.3%Tanqueray Rangpur – tart lime with traditional juniper – weakest produced by them at 41%

I've never been a fan of gin but I think a lot of that has to do with my first experience with it, back in my youth. I don't know which brand I was given to try back then but I suspect it was the cheapest of the cheap and I've steered clear of all gin ever since. Until trying this one my experience of gin was that it was like drinking bitter perfume and I haven't been keen to repeat the performance but now that I've tried the proper stuff I know the difference.I'm not much of a drinker but I do like a cocktail here and there but up to now have avoided the gin based ones. I tried this out in some recipes from my cocktail book and find I really like it which was a surprise.I'm sure it's all down to the quality of the gin (and now I know the difference), although it could be my changing tastes as I get older but either way I found the Tanqueray to be refreshing, light and fruity and I won't be avoiding it like the plague in the future. I think I've got a long way to go before I can truly appreciate a nice G&T but in cocktails I'm definitely a fan now.Very nice drink and reasonably priced too.

I have been a Gin drinker for the last 30 years and my progression through the gins has progressed with my income. As a student I drank the supermarket brand, progressing to Gordon’s when I started work and moving onto Bombay Sapphire as I gained promotion. I didn’t think much would make me change brands again, but this comes close. I did a taste test with my current bottle of Bombay Sapphire. I poured similar measures into both glasses and sniffed before adding the tonic. The Tanqueray had a much subtler scent but when it came to taste there was little to choose, so I had to try another one! I think the Tanqueray is smooth and has no after taste. Very pleasant indeed. If you are concerned about what this looks like on your sideboard the Tanqueray is in a classy shaped bottle of the classic green with a smart looking seal on it. Not so eye catching as the blue of Bombay Sapphire, but striking nonetheless. If I see this on the supermarket shelf I will happily buy it, but not sure that I would actively seek it out in preference to my beloved Bombay Sapphire.

I'm more of a malt whisky person myself - I like a G&T when the weather's warm but I'd never regarded gin as a "connoisseur's" drink, just a 'base' to splash the tonic in, so I'd never gone beyond Gordon's or supermarket own brands before. So this Tanqueray is a bit of a revelation to me. Yes, the usual juniper flavour is there, but this is far more deeply flavoured than those I'd tried in the past. The coriander, angelica and licorice flavours really come through, and give it a lovely 'nose' - much more satisfying than regular gin, one to linger for longer over. Actually, you need to linger a bit more as this is 43% proof, packs quite a punch and not sure if that's what is wanted in a 'long'drink, but never mind, it's delicious with ice and lime. G&T can sometimes feel quite acidic on the stomach with me, but I didn't notice it with this. Now it's opened my tastes to the subtleties in gin (like those in whisky or brandy), I may try some other brands or other Tanqueray blends in the future. Cheers!

In recent years something of a gin renaissance has been sweeping the country, with seemingly everyone noting it as one of their favourite drinks. With this large bottle of a brand I don't normally available, I poured myself a Gin and Tonic and started the hard job of writing this review. This is the classic option in the Tanqueray range and hits you hard with sharp flavours and a relatively generous alcohol content, albeit not as strong as their export version. This means the juniper here is the dominating flavour, making it an absolutely classic gin with a citrus not - perfectly accompanied with ice and a slice of lime. This had none of that burn or nasty aftertaste you sometimes get with the own brands, smooth all the way through. It's no surprise therefore that I'd definitely recommend this gin and can easily see why it's contributing to the gin renaissance.

This is a great gin for flavoured cocktails, but in gin and tonic? It is lacking depth and complexity of *flavour*. Not that I'm complaning. This is a strong gin with a fabulous kick to it, and it beats the pants off many others. This is a real cocktail gin, and will knock the pants off others - your standard Gordon's for instance, when in fruity cocktails. But for G&T? I'm not convinced. This spirit is strong and flavourful but is lacking in subtlety. Mixed with Schweppes (Slimline or Standard) it lacks te complexity of taste that even a weaker gin will muster. But for cocktails. It's awesome. Certainly knocks spots off other gins - such as Heston's or - urrrgghh - Hoxton. Highly recommended for cockails, but loses a star fot it's lack of depth with simple tonic.

A beautiful dry gin that I think really blows other more affordable brands out of the water. Beautiful bottle (it'd make a lovely present).Has an almost piney-fruity taste to me but is incredibly strong (and this is branded at the lower strength). 43% volume, felt like I could have literally lit my breath on fire after a nip of this, lol. Taste is somewhat crisp and clean to me despite the strength. Was lovely with a bit of tonic and lemon but it would be beautiful in Gimlets or a Slow Gin Fizz. Can't wait for Christmas to have all the cocktails!Highly recommend if you want a gin that'll give you quality tasting cocktails and fancy a bit of a treat (or want to give a gin gift to a familymember/friend).

The gins quality is great, Amazon delivered it fine, delivery driver was polite and did their job perfectly but the product is not as advertised. On the description it states it is 47.38% abv which is imported strength, what has been delivered is 43.1% which is export strength. May sound like a small issue but it's a different gin, the imported strength is harder to get and does taste different with the extra few abv. In the photos both gins are shown, so the fact that it then states it's the imported and the export is delivered is misleading. I'm still going to enjoy the gin but the description needs to be changed. I made my purchase because I wanted the imported version.

I buy gin by value and simplicity: the complex ones with multiple botanicals leave me cold, because if you add too many, one cancels-out another and you end up with a compromise. This gin has the bare essentials (fewer botanicals) but they hit the spot and the taste is as good as you'd want. This gin works well with a splash of Angostura and a lot of ice, plus supermarket tonic. (No need for an overdraft and Fever Tree.) Catch this on an offer and you'll do fine ... plus some decent olives on the side.

I am not a big gin drinker, i have always found it a bit overpowering but i have found this to be a very subtle flavour.I found it quite fruity and was a really nice long drink with lemonade, i know everyone drinks it with tonic water but i hate it.The bottle is a litre and will last a long time, well unless you are having a party and then dont expect it to last very long. Will keep buying this one to keep handy in the house, i think it would also make a great staple for summer cocktails.

Beware that neither the 700ml nor 1l bottle is NOT 47.3% alcohol but the more common 43.1%. I have sent back two bottles to both Amazon and other retailers and this is an error of MISREPRESENTATION that they won't correct.Nonetheless, the 43.1% is still a great dry juniper gin.47.3% is not about having more alcohol but about the aromatic botanical flavours are carried better and even with less gin than the 43.1% to give an equal strength GnT, the flavour is superior.

When normally buying Gin, i'd buy Hendricks - this is on par with that, and I would consider better than Gordons or No.3. It's smooth but strong, the alcohol content is apparent with the vapour and immediate strength. Similar to good vodka, this gin is strong without being painful, where the ethanolic alcohol taste that Gin sometimes is guilty of is only an undertone, with a mellow gin taste overall.Very well presented bottle, serves well to give as a gift.

Tanqueray is a brand that I know little about.I am not a big Gin drinker however after tasting this Gin I may reass my choice of drink. This has a nice taste. It has a lovely fruity alcoholic taste.A nicely designed bottle to.It came very well packaged, so no worries about buying this from amazon. It is not the cheapest but it may be the best.It is 43% proof so enjoy responsibly.Recommended

Really super gin, nicely flavoured and well rounded. Really nice well balanced flavour. Delicious drunk ice cold and straight and perfect for Martinis. 43% vol so stronger than many gins. The organics mix used to create the flavour is absolutely perfect...very nicely flavoured. It has become my favourite gin and is now a regular purchase. The bottle is also very pleasing.
