Received as a (requested) Christmas present I love these headphones which I use only on my TV for films (Sky Cinema, Netflix, Prime TV, DVDs and Blu rays) and TV shows (live, on demand and recorded). The sound is always perfect without those Bluetooth problems of lag and "dead" sound. Silence is silence as desired by the programme makers not an excuse to employ noise-cancelling. The on board volume control should be used to dampen "hiss" and the volume then controlled through the master appliance (in my case my TV), the volume should not be excessive, which will create increased hiss, but comfortable which is undoubtedly better for both your ears and your headphones. As for lag,it just doesn't exist for such short distance radio transmissions. That all said, one of the great features of this model (which has replaced a similar but much older Sony pair) is the great range, I continue to hear what is going on no matter which room I have to visit during use. Whilst I have not got 100m away from the transmitter (as I've had no reason to) I can well believe that the sound will continue uninterrupted to at least this distance. The headphones themselves are very light and this makes them very comfortable for any longer time use. The "earcups" are simply round with no pretence of "full fitting" and the light elasticity of the plastic headband means the headphones are not constantly pressing uncomfortably into the ears or sensitive areas of the surrounding area. All in all, I wouldn't bet against me replacing these with their updated version in about ten years which is how long my previous (earlier) model lasted.Well done Sony, I'm very happy with my Christmas present.

These headphones completely cover my ears and are comfortable too. The sound is very good and I can now hear everything I was missing on TV and radio. I have not used it with my computer yet.Though they are not described as noise cancelling, the truth is I can't hear anything except the program I am listening to and no other person in the room can hear what I am listening to either, so they do actually work as noise cancelling. The range is brilliant, I can walk all around my large bungalow and still hear perfectly. Unlike many blue tooth products (as these work by radio waves.)They only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the adjustable elastic headband makes it look a bit odd.Instead of the main plastic band hugging your head in the usual way, it is adjusted by the extra piece of elastic which makes it look strange. Come on Sony, sort this out! It spoils an excellent pair of headphones!

The range of this set up quite amazed me, I live in a flat with external and internal concrete walls and could hear the music clearly from by my car 20 metres away and through 3 separate walls. Well impressed by this.Sound quality is pretty good, whilst not Bose sound, they are nowhere near Bose price, so perfectly acceptable to anyone but a perfectionist.Comfortable to wear and , whilst not the lightest, they don't feel heavy on.Only drawback is that they are strictly Wi-fi, so with no bluetooth the sender unit must be plugged into the device being used. Good for TV or stereo unit, not as good for mobile phone, but acceptable if you're close enough to answer it in time. Finally check your TV has an audio out socket that fits either a 3.5mm jack plug,or a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter jack, if you are buying for TV use.Read full review...

I have difficulty hearing higher pitch sounds and also am getting increasingly frustrated with mumbling dialogue especially American TV shows--missing a lot of the finer passages of speech gets so boring. Tried a sound bar but although it helped it did not really solve the problem. Tried this as a last resort. Brilliant. Easy to set up and I have been astonished by the clarity of the sound--including a lot of incidental sounds I didn't know were there!! Only downside is in common with most audio gear when plugged into the TV normal sound is muted so only the headphone wearer can hear. Great if you have your own TV or don't want to disturb others when watching/listening.Bit of a pain wearingthese for a 2-3 hour session but comfortable in general.

The Wireless headset gives me quality & freedom to watch TV without having wires across the floor, and there is no discernible lag in the sound, unlike Bluetooth. Two things though, the charge time should be fester, and possibly battery life better. Using alkalines gave me 8 days usage !!The annoying feature is the transmitted background noise / hiss during quiet parts, I am being over critical though as a TV Sound Supervisor !When the TX turns off, there is no hiss. But I can live with this for the great advantages it gives me.A more obvious left/right and power switch would be nice. Perhaps in White / led ?Along with a longer charging lead between TX and RX, supplied one is really shortBut.....on the whole... very pleased

I bought these to replace a pair of Sony MDR-RF810R headphones which had developed a fault after a lot of use. (would switch off for no apperent reason, battery still fine.). I use them with the television, and it is amazing how much better the sound is, and the 'extra' things you can hear when compared to the tv speakers or sound bar. The good news is that the new headphones work with the existing transmitter, so, as we have 2 sets, we can charge one while still using the other. (the base will either transmit or charge, so if you are charging one set of headphones the second set cannot use that base. Sony, how about a simple stand alone charger for these for people that run 2 or more sets from a single transmitter.)

I purchased a pair a few months back for my elderly mother to listen to the radio & watch TV etc. The range and sound quality is very good and they're comfortable too. I've since bought another 4 pairs for my recording studio as they're great to wear whilst recording. These RF (radio frequency) headphones have a big advantage over a 'Bluetooth' pair as there is no time delay (the bluetooth pair I bought were useless for recording due to this slight time delay. Also, if you're watching TV this delay puts the sound out of sync with the picture). In summary, the price, quality and decent battery life makes these Sony radio headphones a great buy.

I wanted a set of headphones that I could use in bed to listen to music and other programmes on my radio when unable to sleep. The requirement was that the headphones connected to the radio wirelessly (as I quite often fall asleep whilst listening, I don't want fixed wires that could wind around me). I wanted to link to a radio, so I could easily change stations in the middle of the night. And whilst I wanted to be able to hear the radio, I didn't want ant should "leakage" that would disturb my partner. These headphones met my needs fully.Would have been a 5* rating, but I found fitting the battery difficult.

I have had these nearly a month now and am very please with the purchase. Do charge the headset before you use them, followed the instructions and no problem connecting. You can walk from room to room with no interference so listening to music is great. Some reviews have said that the headset is a little uncomfortable but I haven't found this. I have hidden the charger/sender unit behind the TV and no signal problem at all. Volume control on the headset and no background hissing or any other noise as I have read from others. If you don't have the option to use blue tooth this is an excellent alternative.

Excellent sound volume and clarity, and the headphones are very comfortable even when wearing hearing aids, but the lead from the transmitter to recharge the headphones is ridiculously short. The transmitter needs to be connected to a wall-plug for its power, and to the headphone socket of the device you want to listen to. These leads are each about 2m long, which is good. The battery in the headphones is rechargeable and is recharged by another lead from the transmitter, but it's only about 0.5m long, which is absurdly short. This spoils an otherwise excellent product.

I am a little bit deaf and was using hearing aids to listen to the television without success as the wife didn't like the volume turned up and I was still struggling to hear properly. So I thought about trying headphones and as my equipment is all Sony I researched and decided to buy the RF811RK RF Wireless Headphones and they are absolutely BRILLIANT with their own volume control and excellent stereo sound I now do not need the hearing aids for television and everyone else is happy too,I have already recommended others to use this product.

This is my first headphone purchase and I am fully satisfied with the RF811. The earpieces are more comfortable than I expected, and I can wear the headset for a full hour plus without any irritation. The sound quality is good. As I am getting quite deaf as the years pass it has been a pleasure to hear the dialogue as well as any background noise without deafening the neighbours! Note that with this model, when you plug the transmitter into the TV it kills the TV sound. Overall, i am well satisfied with this headset.

I decided to pay extra for some wireless headphones after a cheap pair I had wouldn't work after a year of occasional use. I saw the Sony at a special price and bought them. They are a lot more comfortable to wear and the clarity of sound is a lot better. There is also none of the hissing I used to get when I turned my head with the cheaper ones. I've only used these newer ones for a couple of hours so far but I prefer them and they are worth the money at only just over £10 more than the cheaper ones I had.

I am moderately deaf and have been since I was 30. Hearing aids amplify all sounds and are not ideal for watching TV if there are others in the room, which there usually are. My husband suggested I try these and they have turned out to be a huge success. I can now hear everything, including things like birds singing in the background on the TV. no turning the volume up, just do it on the headphones. Can’t actually tell you how good they are as hearing folk really don’t understand but they are brilliant!

Very nice headphones. Comfortable but quite big with strange rubber band for adjustment.Sound is very good except when the music goes quiet as there is a slight background hiss as it uses radio waves to transmit the sound. The transmitter emits quite a high level of electromagnetic radiation when very close to it but this is at a relatively low frequency. The range of the wireless headphone is good. All in all very nice headphones for a specific purpose. And of course they are the 'Sony' brand.
