I purchased a pair of these in-ear headphones after reading several reviews, namely What HiFi?'s article on their favourite in-ear headphones of 2015.Taking them out of the packaging, I could immediately tell that they were well made - they felt sturdy but not heavy. After trying them out with different genres of music (pop, jazz, classical, rock etc.) I was very impressed by the way they sounded. The clarity of the sound is far superior to that of the standard Apple earphones which I have been accustomed to for so long. I'm no expert on the matter, but I would say that they sound well balanced: the bass is not too heavy, and the highs are clear but don't dominate the sound either. These in-ear headphones come with 4 different sizes of silicone earbuds,so I'm sure that anyone will be able to find a size which fits comfortably. They provide a snug fit, preventing them from falling out, but perhaps more importantly, they block out sound surpringly well. This is what I noticed most about them, and is perhaps why they allow you to hear the more subtle sounds in songs which you would not normally notice. These earphones are designed for use with Apple devices (Sony also have a model for Android smartphones) and feature an in-line mic. It has only one button, however, and I feel Sony could have perhaps added more buttons for tasks such as skipping between tracks etc. I admit that I don't use this feature much, so it really is a minor point.Overall, I'm very happy with these buds, and for the affordable price, they compete with products twice as expensive!

My previous earphones (Shure SE530) were considerably more expensive than this. After two pairs died I needed replacements, but taking into account A. the inevitability that in-ear models in general don't have that long a lifespan and B. I'm mostly listening on an ipod (so only mp3 quality and not the best converters), I wasn't prepared to spend big again.Obviously these are not going to win against something five or six times the price but I've been pretty impressed with them. There's a little too much bass for my liking, or at least they tend to show up bad mixing quite easily when it comes to the bottom end. Too much bass seems to be common in this sort of price range though to be fair,I haven't tried that many but the ones I have all seem to have been a bit that way. Top end detail is fine, nothing spectacular. They're certainly easy to listen to, not fatiguing or anything like that. Also for me the fit and comfort has been great. All in all I'd recommend these, definitely worth the price. If you've had expensive earphones they're not going to blow you away or anything but they do perform well. I've only had them a few weeks so can't comment on reliability or how long they'll last.

I bought these after reading numerous positive reviews. I'm someone who cares about being able to hear every single component of a music track clearly and properly. While there are countless other in-ear and on-ear headphones which doubtlessly boast better sound, unfortunately I could not afford them. However, these more than make up for it. I've stayed away from in-ear devices like these for many years due to a series of inner-ear problems as well as the infamous "tinny" sound normally associated with them. This set does not come across as tinny when you have the right size tips on and are comfortably able to jam them into your ears. The sound quality is top-notch and with just the right level of bass.I'm able to hear levels of tracks which I wasn't able to pick-out in previous on-ear headphones. What's more is that once properly fitted, they do a very good job of blocking-out surrounding sound (once your music is playing anyway!). I don't even really need to crank my music up too high. Finally, you get a nice little pouch you can keep the earphones in for when you're out and about. This fits nicely in any pocket. I never really use the button on the cord, so can't comment on it.

I always buy Sony in ear earphones and it was time for a new pair. These(the brass ones) are just out and they caught my eye as all the reviews I read were favourable . they are well worth it . They feel solid , like absolute quality materials were used. The cable promises no tangle and 99% of the time they are so I can't complain about the .1 percent. I plugged them into my iPhone and turned up the volume . The volume is quite generous and they do go really loud but I got them more for sound quality not quantity. I have a varied taste in music and played Motörhead to Mozart and the sound is AMAZING. The orchestras are crisp and clear and at one point I thought the voice singing was standing behind me!It feels like you are at a concert actually there . You can hear every instrument really really well and the bass is superb. It's not distorted at all , it feels like it comes from the soles of your feet , it really is something, and gold connections fit snugly, they do feel really well made and in conclusion I am very pleased with my purchase the price reflects the quality

The sound quality of these headphones is just brilliant! The bass is outstanding and the notes come through very crisp and clear. I believe this is due to the brass housing that Sony have used on these headphones.I have had many different headphones in the past and I can quite confidently say these are right up there with any i have had so far, they far out perform the fashion headphones, beats by Dre, and for a fraction of the price! These are labelled at mid to entry level but they sound and feel like premium range! I highly recommend these to anyone who wants a brilliant set of in ears but doesn't want to spend a fortune on them, i bought them to upgrade the cheap headphones that came with my phone and I couldn't be happier. As is always the case with sony they have done a amazing job with these.

This is the second time I've bought these headphones. Sound quality is great. Strong bass but still with even, clear well balanced mids and highs. The polished brass looms stylish too. The previous ones had grey metallic coating which was started to rub off. The reason I needed to replace them was because the wire was starting to break though. It got caught on door handles a few times and as the wire is quite thin it cannot put up with much punishment. And now the old pair will randomly cut in and out, skip track, and most annoyingly turn the volume right up or down. Taking care to tuck the excess wire into my pocket with this new pair will hopefully prevent it getting caught on door/cupboard handles, and improve its lifespan. My last pair only lasted 6 months but I do take them everywhere with me.

I bought a pair in January and was really surprised by the sound quality and balance. The weighty feel was a satisfying bonus along with the almost perfect fit. However, after just 4 months post-purchase I began to lose sound in the left ear. This was sadly accompanied by audio being paused and skipped mid-play. I had always been careful with these headphones; using them in appropriate environments where they were unlikely to be damaged and placing them in the appropriate pouch after use, hence my surprise when I noticed these faults. This particular pair of headphones had been recommended to me, so you can imagine my disappointment.Overall, the experience left me with mixed feelings. A great product, but with a short lifespan.

Before buying and using these I was very much against in-ear earphones as I had never tried a pair that fitted comfortably/well and sounded good. A friend persuaded me that buying a pair to try would be worth it as I could always send them back, I have to say I'm blown away! I love these earphones, use them daily at school and find that they isolate sound very well.Come with a very nice carrying pouch that snaps shut like the bands you snap on your wrist which I think was a great touch.4 sized buds, I'm using the ones that came on the earphones as I found them most comfortable. All in all a brilliant purchase and I love that the gold isn't in your face,it's classy and slightly darker than the pictures on the internet.

Straight out of the box, these are very, very impressive. After running them in for 24 hours they mellow down a bit, which will impress a majority of users For the audioholics who like a bit of attack and bite, I would not suggest these, but are certainly worth considering. There's absolutely nothing to complain about making or receiving calls and the audio quality is excellent. But I would still rate the Sony MDR EX650 as a 5 star product. If I could, the only thing I would add to these earphones is formable wire sleeves to loop around the ears or rubberise the cable from the earpiece to the remote to reduce the cable noise further, which comes in only at high speed cross training.

Following the recommendation of what hifi I bought a pair to replace on old pair of denons that I paid twice as much for about 12 years ago. They did not disappoint. They are solidly made with nicely finished cables. In fact they seem better made and more robust than another pair of in-ears I have which cost me almost ten times more although unsurprisingly cannot compare on sound reproduction. My only criticism is that they have been designed for single button use with android phones so will not allow you to control volume on Apple products. I knew that before I bought. Sweet sounding and comfortable.

After reading favourable reviews, I decided to try a pair of these headphones, and I am pleased with them. I have been using them for a few weeks now on my daily train commute. The build quality is excellent, and the cable material and shroud minimize cable noise very well. I would describe the sound profile as very detailed, with a slight emphasis on mid range frequencies. Bass is tight and fast, but not as deep and weighty as the Soundmagic E10 that they have replaced. Treble is clear without being tinny. I have fitted Comply foam tips (T200) which improved the the low end frequencies further.

I bought these about a month ago to replace a pair of sennheiser cx-300 II's that I owned previously (which developed a fault after only 6 months of use) and cannot say that I can find anything wrong with them. The sound quality is what I've come to expect from Sony, precise and crisp in the mid to high range and punchy but not deafening or over-powering in the bass. Only concern I have is that the jack plug seems a bit flimsy; but I'm sure Sony will replace the item if that turns out to be a problem. Overall they're great, plus the in-line remote is helpful for everyday life.

Really impressive sound for the money. Strong but clear (and not over powering) bass, & smooth mids. Treble possibly a little too bright but clear & easily sorted with a little EQ tweaking. Design also good with great cable (with virtually no microphonics) and neat remote. Only downside are remote being on the left (seems an odd choice given statistically right handed more common) & if you want to wear over ear you need to swap left & right due to angle of the ear pieces. Highly recommended for the price though, you'd have to spend a lot more to get significantly better!

Overall these are the best earphones I have ever bought (and I've owned loads over the years).Pro's- Look/feel fantastic- Mic and button work really really well with Z5 Premium.- Sound is simply incredible for the size. Great noise isolation (around a 40% drop).A superb, premium product.Con's- Can be a little uncomfortable if worn for a long period of time (1.5/2 hours +). Not really a problem for normal everyday use when out and about in town but something to bear in mind. Sony does provide a great selection of ear buds to give the best fit.

Last pair were devoured by the vacum cleaner. Arggghhhh.Thought about changing to another manufacturer then decided to buy same pair again. Prices have dropped since first pair, quality just as good. For now they do sound slightly different although after using I suspect all will return to another fantactic set of ear phones. I changed the fitted buds to another pair that were supplied in the box. Sound quality and price are my main concerns. I have had many, many earphones over the years. These are the only pair I have sought again.
