Stout and capable. It lacks the popular carbon fibre construction, but its weight helps stabilise the expensive gear on top. I've done some fun things like take photos of fireworks displays that you'd struggle with free-hand. The pivoting head is a bit fussy to use in conjunction with the portrait clamp position but allows pan and tilt flexibility.
