I needed something to sharpen hatchets and the like and at around £25 you can't expect a perfect unit and as a result I'd rate it on that basis.First the negatives:- the packaging mine came in wasn't strong enough to protect the grinder and both the brackets the tool rests attach to were bent on arrival. I managed to straighten out with a pair of pliers and attach the rests rather than the hassle of returning the unit and works fine for my light use. Shouldn't have been necessary though- the two grinding wheels are quite close together with no guard between them so when you're trying to sharpen a longer tool (even a hatchet),you have to be careful not to catch your hand on the other wheel (worthwhile wearing gloves)And the positives:+ the wheels are incredibly powerful and sharpen thick metal easily, so much so I'm not sure I'll use it for more delicate tasks (eg. a penknife) as if you're not really careful, simply blink wrongly and you'll have a nice notch in the blade. I'll probably give one a go after more practice on less delicate jobs+ It's a solid unit so whilst you can secure to a workbench, I haven't needed to as it's stable and solid enough to use free standing. This makes it easier to move out of the way in tight space when not in useOverall the key negative (packaging) seems unique to me (based on the other reviews) and the other is just a be careful. As a result, it does the job I need and was good value for money, but I can't "love it" enough to give it a five star review

I had this for about a year and a half. It has not let me down one, always goes and is surviving the damn conditions of my garage workshop well. The guards are a little small, and the bolts holding them and the tool rests can vibrate loose, but I think my workbench may not absorb the vibrations terribly well. I just tighten them with vice-grips every so often when they work loose. There has been limited damage to the rests as they have come loose and contacted with the grinder. The plug is one of those big chunky converters from European to English so I have removed it and just connected it to a wall switch and it works fine. There is not a huge amount of power behind the blades, and they can be stopped quite easily when sharpening blades or smoothing edges. It gets back up to speed soon enough however and I have no real problem with it. If you are going to use the grinder for daily, heavy use I would not recommend this. However it runs very smoothly, easily fixed to my workbench and is a very strong unit. Perfect for infrequent light use and a good price.

Delivery was quick. Product packaged well but after unboxing the wheels wouldn't spin. Unscrewed the 3 retaining bolts wither side to gain access to the sides and it turned out that the side casing was slightly bent - easily sorted with some pliers. Also, the left wheels was spinning unevenly, but after unscrewing the large retaining bolt with a spanner and re-sitting the wheel, both wheels are now running true. Have used the product to sharpen some chisels and was impressed with the power and ease of using the grinder. Would highly recommend, even with the slight tweaks needed. I've seen the exact same product on Amazon for £52, so believe this was a bargain.Would give 5 stars had it not been for the initial teething issues

I can now, finally, put a decent edge on plane blades, chisels and the such like....I read quite a few reviews before buying this item and many of them seemed to complain about the fact that the grinder that they had bought just wasn't up tot he job. On the basis of "buy cheap, buy twice", I bought this more expensive model and am very pleased with it.Rather than bolting permanently down onto my bench, I have bolted a one inch square length of wood underneath it and, that way,.I can securely clamp into my woodworking vice and hold secure when in use. After use, it can then be removed and stored away.Definitely recommended and, as with any tool, buy the best that you can reasonably afford.

Good value for money and pleased with the grinder. It performs well, runs quietly and operates smoothly with little or no vibration. The product is spoiled only by poor instructions. You can more or less work out how to assemble the tool rests and plastic shields, looking at the photos in the instructions and using a bit of common sense. But if you want to remove the left hand wheel (as you looking at the grinder from the front) it has a left hand thread and you need to turn the nut clockwise to loosen it and not in the normal anti-clockwise direction. Nowhere does it say this in the instructions!!

The guide and eye protector are cheaply made and detract from overall quality. The unit is quite quiet when running but not being uesd and is great for basic grinding. I have not yet opened up the enclosures. They are held together with three basic bolts. They look as though they are standard enough and replaceable...I tend to loose things like that. The mains plug is a very stramge affair. It looks as though an adapter has been built around another plug. That plugs type I dont know. Have to say that I am not happy about that. Clearly this grinder was not built for the UK market.

Recieved this grinder a few days ago and first impressions are very good. The actual grinder was extremely well packed with proper shaped postyrene end supports and plenty of plastic bags. Some self assembly was needed, well described in the small but adequate instruction book.I ran the grinder up and sharpened an old chisel, it ran very smoothly, the wheels were true and much quieter than I expected. In conclusion a good buy which looks as if it will give good service for nonmal household and probably light industrial tasks.

This machine was delivered extremely promptly and was well packed. The various parts were simple to put together and the grinder operated normally when powered up. The only minor defect was that one of the guards was slightly bent in transit and rubbed on one of the gritstone wheels, however, it was a simple matter to prise out the deformed metal with a screwdriver and the machine was then fully operational.

very pleased with this neat little bench grinder, it does all the jobs that I need it for ,,,knives ,chisels, screwdriver blades etc, only criticism , I would say is ,eye shields a bit flimsy , ,they stop the sparks ok but I would prefer a bit heavier gauge Perspex and a bit wider cover... delivery was excellent and also packaging,,,,,,,,,

Bought this to keep my mower blades sharp, as living in a stony area means they get knocked about a bit! This little beauty is quick and easy to use, sharpens the blades in seconds, and my lawn has never looked so good! Would recommend this unit 100%, and it arrived quickly and well packed too. Another good buy from Amazon.

Bought this item to use in my metalworking, does the job brilliantly but heats up fast so if you are going to be using it for extended periods of time, give it a 5/10 minute break for every 10 minutes you use it, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars but otherwise a great item

Early Days, I have had it a week and no problems easy to to fit the gaurdes and fasten down you can screw it down but its not easy to get the screws straight.Bolting it to your desk is a better option. its quiet and ideal for the DIY and handyman/women.

I purchased my bench grinder in preperation for sharpening my wood axesI am certain this grinder will meet my simple requirementsMy only slight criticism is that the instructions could be a little clearerIn terms of price I have no complaints at all

Sturdy, powerful and quiet, I am continually finding more uses for this grinder. Not very clear assembly instructions, but common sense and careful study of the photographs solved it.Well packed and prompt delivery as usual Highly recommended.
