Extremely uncomfortable.I decided on purchasing this backpack after I’ve tried it in the shop before. The sales person was kind enough to add a 5kg weight in the backpack just to give me an idea on the fit and how it feels.I have tested the bag on a couple of hikes in the Glencoe area in Scotland and a long distance trekathon in the same area plus a night hike on Ben Lomond, Scotland. The only time the bag felt comfortable was on my first scramble up the Curved Ridge on the Buachaille Etive Mòr. I am now putting this down to it being new.The straps have this thick foam in them, similar to the Osprey packs (I have two Osprey packs to compare this to). After the first few hours the foam seems to have stretched and has lost it's comfort thus making the straps to dig into the shoulder/neck muscles. The pack states that is hydration system compatible - true however, the hydration bag doesn’t have any true suspension system to allow it not to “drop” inside its compartment. There’s a small strap with a hold attachment that is supposed to fulfil this function however, I believe this can be greatly improved. I have a 3L hydration pack from Osprey which I usually fill to about the 2L mark. This seems to be maybe be a bit too much for the bag. When I was looking into the specs of the bag, the size of hydration packs compatible to it wasn’t specified anywhere. The space inside and the way the compartments are thought, is decent however, I don’t see this bag being able to take on a full days hike equipment required in the winter. The material looks flimsy initially. It feared much better than expected. The side pockets hold water bottles ok. Unfortunately can’t say the same about my seating mat - it proved to be slippery for the pockets design and it ended up being blown away by the wind. The gear I had with me on both hikes and the trekathon (that’s a 26.2 miles trek race) was the usual Scottish summer essentials: waterproofs, life bag, head torch, hydration, food and snacks, spare fleece, insect repellent, first aid kit, map and compass and a spare power bank for my phone and head torch.I have managed to attach my climbing helmet to the bag and carried some climbing rope in one instance. This however made the bag feel that it wasn’t the snug fit intended as per the design intent. It made the bag feel as if I had a bulging bag on my back and not a specifically design bag that was supposed to “hug” your anatomical shape. All in, I believe the bag should only be marketed to the trail runners that run with very little necessities and not to the everyday hiker that has to carry more equipment. It would’ve been a great piece of summer kit if the comfort wasn’t compromised by the poor straps material and build up.
