As a tripod this is worth SIX stars, its absolutely superb. I had bought one of the numerous cheaper carbon fibre tripods initially, (Andoer QZSD Q999C Pro Tripod Monopod Carbon Fiber- £90), but it was flimsy, the leg mechanism was rubbish and it still weighed 1.5kg. This Rollei is like a Rolls Royce to the Andoers Lada. It weighs under 900g, feels really well made. Is quick to put up and down, has a hook underneath to hang a stabilising bag / weight on and just WORKS so nicely. The head rotates independently of the ball head - I really wanted this feature - so you can smoothly pan whilst keeping the ball locked and the camera level. The Manfrotto BeFree tripods DON'T do this. The reason its NOT getting 5 stars is the Monopod conversion process, which overly complicated and requires a unique spanner (supplied). You unscrew a leg, unscrew the ball head and then have to undo a recessed nut to get a plate off which then screws onto the leg. If you lose the spanner you might struggle to find a replacement. Really you have to do this at home and choose tripod or monopod mode before you go out, which is a shame. Given how well its designed in every other respect, this seems clunky and should have been better thought out. At the very least the spanner should attach neatly somewhere to the tripod.By the way, don't take the spanner through airport security in your hand luggage, it won't be allowed through. I nearly lost mine this wayOverall its a great tripod, well worth the money and is a delight to carry and use.

Finding a light / compact tripod is a challenge with no definite answer. For me this Rollei tripod, is comparable to Manfrotto BeFree and a winner -although more expensive.Rollei is 30% lighter than 32cm BeFree (980g VS 1350g) and distinctly less bulkier while it takes payload of 8kg against 2.5kg of BeFree.Maximum height of BeFree is 130cm while this one is 142cm.With Rollie you can have a monopod if you modify the tripod using the supplied spanner.Unlike Manfrotto, Rollei does not have quick release for extending legs and preset leg angles are not as good as.There is a sprit level at the end of tightening knob for the tripod head. This sprit level is as useless as you can get as it is rounded and stands vertically. It can only have a very limited and approximate 2D use (tilting head).Conversion to monopod is poorly designed and you can only have one or another. You should decide before leaving home due to requirement for disassembly. I am not sure how this feature can be useful due to hassle of conversion. It's like having a amphibious car but you need a garage visit before getting into water or vice versa! In addition to the above I should add that the user manual, despite loads of repeated images, is very poorly written, remind me of 80s fax machine manuals translated from Taiwanese!

It is just what I wanted, compact, light and sturdy, so much so that I can take it with me on my holidays abroad when weight and size are very important for the luggage restictions. I've used it with my Canon EOS 5ds with a Tamron 70-200 lens, that are quite weighty, on limited occassions and it has functioned well. The tripod fits within my camera bag/rucksack and because of it's diminutive size and weight I find I am more willing to carry it around with me on my trips and walks. It is well made, versatile and was well priced, so far so good. I'm going to New Zealand in a couple of weeks time and will be giving it more use there, so will soon find out if my first impressions remain valid.

This carbon-fibre ultra travel tripod is very good value for money IMHO- a lot better than I half expected it to be, and I was ready to send it back if not content with its quality. It works very well with my Olympus E-M1ii (though with my heaviest lens attached, a 40-150, it may be approaching its limit). I have marked it down to 4 for sturdiness, but that may well be rather harsh, as it is acceptably sturdy IMHO bearing in mind that it is specifically marketed as light and compact at very reasonable price.

This is a really neat piece of kit, appears well made (although I've only had mine since last Christmas, so a little early to comment on long-term durability). Used mostly with my Olympus OM film cameras, including occasionally a pretty-heavy 300mm Zuiko. My usual tripod is a trusty Slik 88, but this Rollei is less than half the length when packed, and a great deal lighter, so this is the one that goes travelling with me these days.(Oh, and the orange finish looks superb!)

Needed a lightweight compact tripod for a night hide session where there will be no opportunity to use AF, plus occasional low light work. Otherwise don't usually need a tripod. The Rollei is very good in this context and gets set up very quickly. Ball head works smoothly but can be dragged down when a long lens is used. Only real caveat is that the mounting plate on the lens ring does has a habit of working loose when you carry the set up with the tripod attached.

Make no mistake, this tripod has a very good quality. It comes with an extra plate and tools, is study, very well engineered, nothing is wobbling of moving, the screws are nice and the rubbers as well. However, the Red color is actually more pink, and the carrying bag it comes in is a joke, essentially a little nylon pouch with strings. For a cheaper price, you can get lighter tripods with a better bag, yet still good quality. But this one IS GOOD!

Very nice compact tripod. A little heavier than expected but still light enough to be easily portable. Seems very well put together and very sturdy for such a compact tripod. The legs are quick and easy to extend and contract. Head very solid with no 'slop' when locked and nice and smooth when loosened. Don't be put off by the orange colour as 'in the flesh' it's not as bright as it looks. Great tripod.

Bought to travel to Iceland with. Very light, extremely compact and complete with arca swiss compatible ballhead.Obviously not as sturdy as a full size tripod but stable, and has a hook on the bottom to hang your bag to stablize it a bit more ( but not needed unless windy )Held my Canon 7d mk2 with battery grip and 70-200 canon zoom for long exposures no problem.

For the money you cannot beat it.there was no visible marks as it came from Amazon warehouse, the tripod is very sturdy ,light and compact, fully adjustable a pleasure to use easy to configure for different angle and positions, the quick release head is small but ridged, everything just perfect,I would buy another again without hesitation.

After viewing many travel tripods at the Photography Show l realised this was by far the best and it would hold a large Canon slur l use. Came away without a purchase and when l got home I realised l should have bought it .As usual Amazon came up with the goods and cheaper than Rollei themselves were discounting it on their stand .

A tad expensive but worth the money. I use this regularly out in the wild of Scotland and it has never let me down. It is sturdy but light and compact and very well made with excellent materials. Several of my friends have purchased one of these on the back of my purchase and all are happy with it's versatility and strength.

1.5.2018

Love it, well made, great single action control for the ball, very light but strong packs to 33cm, will go in a ruck sack easily and probably a despatch bag. It is, however, florescent metallic pinky lilac in colour and NOT red, not RED as I know it ! Probably why it was £20 off, still a bargain at £50 odd quid though.

Many pars above cheap tripods. This is a very versatile and sturdy tripod. it includes a hanging hook to hang something, providing further stability through weight. The tripod folds down to a very manageable size and includes bag for carrying.

23.6.2019

Lightweight. TickCheap. Tick.Only downsides are the fixed center column and the sturdiness but that isn't really the tripods fault of you want lightweight above all else.Cheap enough that it can go in the suitcase without fear.
