This is a classic desktop stapler that works well as a hand-held. It is of a comfortable size and weight while made mostly of metal and is curved top and bottom for a comfortable hold. This "Rexel Matador Half Strip Stapler, 25 Sheet Capacity, Metal Body, Pink, 2104382" is also available in a few other bright pastel colours probably to appeal to younger users. This was ordered to match a similarly-coloured tape dispenser from another brand that is much-favoured by a family member. This sub-range of pastel-toned machines is an extension to the standard range and more expensive. The stapler accepts either type 16 or type 56 staples, otherwise described as 24/6 and 26/6 gauges, the latter being widely and inexpensively available in newsagents and supermarkets as well as the usual stationery suppliers. Binding capacity is 20 sheets of 80gsm stock when using 26/6 staples but up to 25 sheets with the slightly thicker and stronger 24/6 equivalent. It only accepts a half-strip and is top-loaded as are most Rexel models. This also provides a simple lever-type staple extractor at the rear. It provides for tacking (into light materials only), stapling and pinning and includes Rexel's claimed 'jam reduction method', the exact nature of which is not immediately apparent although it appears to work as current Rexel staplers seem less prone to jamming than older models. A consequence of those jams was to gradually change to another brand of staplers that has proven to be jam-free.It is an everyday, general purpose stapler suitable for almost all tasks encountered in most workplaces. For the few where larger sheet numbers need be bound, a heavy-duty stapler will be an additional requirement but not all will need one. It will need to be reloaded after about 85 uses with 24/6 staples and about 100 with 26/6 and frequently if extensively used.An RRP above £25 appears unreasonable and to offer poor value although it is typically discounted by around 25% but there are heavy-duty models available at about the same price or less and similar-sized ones for far less. It is a capable and easy-to-use stapler that appears to be reliable but it does not offer best value at the outset but it may compensate by greater longevity.

Upon unboxing this stapler, supplied free under the Amazon Vine programme the first reaction was that this is solidly constructed. Rexel is a well known brand in the Office Supplies business and it's the little attentions to detail that catch the eye over similar products. The construction is of good quality metal, sprayed a muted dark blue which is smooth to the touch and aesthetically pleasing, trimmed with a removable plastic foot to avoid scratching your furniture, with the part you push to operate also coated in plastic. Save for the staples themselves there are no sharp edges to catch fingers on - important if young school-age children are using to put together projects for homework. The top pulls back easily to install the required staples easily, something which hasn't been the case on some staplers I've used whilst working for many years in an office environment, which reveals a strong spring that keeps them tensioned against the delivery slot. It feels ergonomically pleasing and easy to operate - something which a partner steadily developing rheumatism found a boon which I particularly like. Upon using I found that the stapling action is positive and gives a reassuring click, and so far I've not managed to jam any staples in the delivery slot, something I've found can happen with cheaper models particularly as staples begin to run out.The plastic foot helpfully has imprinted the sizes of replacement staples which will fit the machine - useful when the box has long gone. In this case they are No.16 (24/6) or No.56 (26/6) - fairly common sizes to find on the high street. The piece of metal on the base used to shape the staple into it's required shape will turn through 180º to provide a temporary tacking option common to some but not all staplers. Approximate size is 140mm long, 43mm wide and (at it's highest point) 54mm tall - a nice trade off between an item that won't easily be mislaid around a busy desk just when needed yet won't take up too much space. Not the cheapest stapler on the block but here you definitely get the higher quality you paid for and reassurance that this stapler will last.

As a lecturer I have suffered the diktats of the Department of Education ministers and minions. Many of these directives have caused both myself and my students problems. Some of the most contentious ones are based around the production and issuing of handouts. My students have repeatedly told me that they do not want handouts hole punched and that they aren’t too fussed about them being stapled (especially when one of the decrees said that all handouts must be stapled at an angle on the top right hand side of the handout with the holes punched down the left … think about it ?!).Not only does the DoE state the exact position of the staple but it also dictates the position of the holes to bepunched too.As a result of meeting these demands (because not to punch and staple the handouts as required would cost us valuable points and could have us declared as failing as well as costing me my job and my teaching licence) I burn through hole punches and staplers.I have used supermarkets own brands and other cheap ones only to have them fail within a short time and have to be replaced, hence when I find a good brand I tend to stick with it.Rexel has proven to be one of the good stationery brands available, in my opinion. The stapler is easy to load and easy to use. The staples are good solid metal made ones and they don’t fail too often.I am hoping that the stapler will last me at least a term/semester.

This stapler is one of the kings of staplers. I remember having an early predecessor of this stapler 25 years ago and it's still in use today. It is constructed almost solely from metal, with a thin plastic base for stability. It feels very robust and has sufficient capacity to hold what would commonly be known as one bar of staples (in actual fact, this is half a bar of staples, but lets not get caught up in semantics). It has all the normal features of a staple, such as the capability of bending the ends of the staples inwards or outwards and a gauge on the side of the stapler which lets you know when you've just about run out of staples. It also has a basic staple extractor mechanism at the back of the stapler. The stapler takes standard sized staples, being 26/6 (No.56) and 24/6 (No.16), making it compatible with the majority of staples which are likely to be lurking around your house or office. It also has capacity for stapling between 20-25 sheets, depending on the thickness of the paper.Overall, a very good value and robust stapler.

This Rexel Matador model is an excellent-value Half Strip Stapler - claimed to be the UK's best seller – and comes from this long-established office-products brand which is now a part of ACCO Brands Europe. This Matador model uses 26/6 or 24/6 staples – none are supplied – and it can staple up to 25 sheets of 80 gsm paper, making it suitable for many stapling jobs around the home, school or office. This compact design has a metal body and the Cream Lemon finish is simple, yet still looks rather attractive – other colour options are also available on other Amazon product pages – but at wildly differing prices so check carefully for best value before buying. This Cream Lemon colour seems best value at around nine pounds currently from Amazon, and it works well plus it comes with a 5-year guarantee when using Rexel's own staples. It has a top-loading mechanism for easy refilling and a rotatable anvil enabling you to pin, staple and tack as required – recommended, with an easy five stars for value and features at the current price.

If you're looking for the type of basic stapler which can be found in homes and offices throughout the country, this is it.Put simply, it is reasonably cheap, has capacity for what is described as half a bar of 24/6 or 26/6 staples (more commonly found as a single bar of the staples which can be found in virtually every drawer) and it is claimed that it can be used to staple up to 20 pages of normal grade paper (80g/sm).One thing I do know is that these staplers don't tend to have a significantly long lifespan but even if it does break after a year or two, who cares? After all, they don't cost very much so just just buy another one (I probably won't forgive myself for saying that, given how wasteful it sounds)! One point which could be very important however is that the Amazon website states that Rexel are offering a 5 year guarantee so hopefully it will last at least that long. On the upside, it is a mainly metal construction, so this should make it more robust.

This Rexel Meteor model is an inexpensive half strip stapler from this long-established office-products brand, which is now a part of ACCO Brands Europe. This Meteor model uses either 26/6 or 24/6 staples – sadly none are supplied – and it can staple up to 20 sheets of 80 gsm paper at a time, making it suitable for many stapling jobs around the home, school or office. This compact design features a tough metal body with a dark blue finish that looks rather attractive – black is also available on the same Amazon product page and is currently quite a bit cheaper. Overall the Rexel Meteor is good value product at around twelve pounds currently from Amazon (black currently around a fiver),it works well and comes with a 5-year guarantee when using Rexel's own staples. It has a top-loading mechanism for easy refilling and a rotatable anvil enabling you to pin, staple and tack as required – recommended with five stars for value and features at the current price.

A good stapler in the Rexel range- this range now seems to have a combination of strong plastics and metal or is it coated metal? either way, it gives a nice warm feeling to the body of this essential office tool. Have no doubt about the durability of this item, it is chunky and robust. It has a heel at the back actually a spike which can be used to extract staples from paper. This works very well, instead of the separate pair of claws which we became used to in a previous generation. You can of course adjust the staple to splay out or in by rotating the strike piece, and yes, it does up to 25 sheets, no problem at all. One rather surprising plus is that it is very easy to refill. You do not have to wrestle to separate the top from the body, it separates and comes together with a very positive action. Of all the staplers I have tried I like this best- small, will staple up to 25 sheets, nice colour and feel, easy to refill, slips into the desk drawer

I am happy to recommend this stapler from Rexel. You clearly get what you pay for and that is a robust and reliable stapler. Its mainly metal construction is built to last. The only bits of plastic on it is the base and the vit you use to press down on but that's just to cover it. The base feels slightly rubberised for some friction grip. I also like how the base has the type of staples that it requires to use it, in case you forget. The weight of the stapler is reassuring and it reminds you that you have bought quality not cheap. My video shows the stapler being tested using 18 ruffled sheets and two fresh sheets encasing them and the stapler using basic staples. As you can see it clearly delivers despite the basic staples.I will get some quality staples and upload a video of that in due time.I'm confident that this staple will last because Rexel offer a five year guarantee for it. That's a lot of use.

This really is a beautiful stapler. Each of the colours it comes in look lush - but the pastel colours don't indicate a lack of strength and function, that's for sure. It does everything you would hope, and does it very well. It really does staple 25 sheets easily, it is very easy to fill - no drama like some staplers, and it has its own built-in staple remover. It is a great size as well - neat and compact - but the quality is there and it will last you for years. I have a Rexel Bambi that is over 60, so you are getting serious quality with this brand. The one issue I have is the pricing. It is both expensive and weird. Each colour is a different price and the pink is nearly twice as costly as the yellow. It is worth the money to get a quality stapler that will last you for decades, but why such a massive difference - and who would spend over £18 for a stapler, even one as good as this one..?

The 'Rexel Matador Half Strip Stapler, 25 Sheet Capacity, Metal Body, Cream Lemon, 2104381' is a compact metal stapler, in a bright and attractive shade of pale yellow. It does not come with staples but takes standard sized ones - Rexel No.56, 26/6 or 24/6 in other brands. It can staple up to 25 sheets at once with 24/6 staples, or up to 40 with Rexel Optima No.56 ones. There is an integrated staple remover at the rear of the stapler, which is less effective than a separate one but handy nonetheless. The packaging says that the stapler can pin and tack, however I can't figure out how you could pin with it (taking 'pin' to mean opening it out to use it to fasten paper to a noticeboard)as I can't get mine to open other than to access the staple holder. Perhaps I am missing something?Very attractive and functional stapler, just not for pinning things to boards!
