Rapesco's 'Marlin Long Arm Metal Stapler with 300 mm Reach and 25 Sheet Capacity uses Staples 24 and 26/6 mm - Black' uses the top section of their standard Marlin stapler as the operational portion of this extended-reach version. Its base and the top mount are both elongated to provide a total reach of 300mm (12-inches), sufficient for A3 paper. There is a calibrated paper stop set in 5mm invervals commencing from 15cm down one side and inch equivalents down the other that can be adjusted to fit (as closely as possible) the centre-line of a wide variety of paper sizes for stitch-stapling two or more times down the eventual fold. Booklets can be later trimmed for neatness,if desired. The stapler will be ideal for a variety of purposes including but not limited to folded neighbourhood newsletters, society magazines, price lists, catalogues and internal telephone directories and anything of a similar nature. It may also have a function in some areas of crafting, perhaps in card-making where it may be possible to hide the staple by the addition of a sticker or some alternative adornment. It is robust, constructed primarily of thick steel although with some external plastic parts. The base is stable with multiple rubber non-slip inserts. The non-chromed areas are finished in a powder-coating, not paint, for greater long-term durability. Rapesco's standard 15-year warranty applies should there be future problems. The stapler accepts either 24/6 or 26/6 size staples, the latter widely available in stationers, supermarkets and some local newsagents and is top-fed by raising the head. The stapler can accept up to 25 sheets of 80gsm stock and can thus create up to a 100-page booklet (a few more if lighter paper stock is used) if printed page-wise and double-sided.It is ideal for the workplace, home and for small groups or organisations who need to produce stapled booklets in numbers from a few to a few hundred on a regular, if not frequent basis. It will need a large working area. This is a new acquisition but the standard Marlin has been used for more than a year and remains jam-free to date. Other Rapesco staplers and tackers are also used and very few jams yet experienced in 3-4 years of use for some, all easily resolved when they occur.

In practical terms, this is effectively a Rapesco Bowfin Stapler which has been bolted onto the end of a long arm. Having never owned one of these staplers until recently, I was keen to give it a try, because there have been occasions in the past when this would have been really useful (for making booklets etc) but when I was forced to "make do and mend." This would have been, of course, back in the day when staplers such as these would have cost a small fortune and it simply wouldn't have been justifiable to spend such a large amount of money on something which would be used relatively infrequently. As with all Rapesco products which I have had the opportunity to trial recently, this one is very solidly constructed and feels very robust when in use. I was also fairly impressed with its stapling abilities however, it is important to note that this is limited to 25 pages. A larger capacity version (which claims to be able to staple up to 50 pages) is available however I was not that impressed as the number of failed stapling attempts was far too high, in my view. The concept of this stapler is a good one and it comes with a measurement guide (marked in both inches and centimetres), which you can set at the appropriate distance, so that you don't have to keep on guessing where the exact centre of the paper is. This works well and the guide is very easy to adjust to the appropriate distance. In terms of staple capacity, the loading tray is long enough to hold a single bar of staples (although oddly, given that the most commonly available staples come in what is known as half bars, this effectively means that this stapler can hold two lengths of staples). The stapler is also top loaded, so filling the stapler is very straightforward. In summary, this is a very handy stapler for a very particular type of task (primarily being booklet printing), which was able to achieve its stated claim of being able to staple up to 25 pages. Accordingly, it seems like a product which is more than capable for the job.

This is a basic, though competent, home or office stapler, mounted on a frame that provides the space (and a rule) to allow you to staple up to 300mm (12”) into a sheet, or sheets, of paper. That means you can staple and fold into a booklet any paper size up to A1.The stapler, the important parts of which are all metal, is capable of putting either 24/6 or 26/6 staples (the latter are the most common for general use) through as many as 25 sheets of 80gsm paper. With the spring-loaded anvil rotated accordingly, it will also ‘pin’ up to the same number of sheets – which is quite something, as many staplers will not pin as many sheets as they will staple (without bending the staple). An adjustableback plate for setting the margin between the edge of your paper and the staple is a great help towards the accurate and consistent stapling of booklets. Unfortunately, on this stapler it doesn’t slide far enough forward to serve as a guide for stapling at anything less than 32mm (1.25 inches) from the edge of your paper. That’s a great pity as binding staples are usually required to go in about 5mm from the edge. But there is a ‘work-around’ solution: slide the guide way back and turn your booklet around so that the staple is put into the back edge, not the front – i.e. (with an A4 sheet) 205mm from the right hand edge, rather than 5mm from the left hand edge.In my case, the stapler came with a box of 5000 26/6 staples. Like the stapler, they are branded Rapesco. That is fine by me; over the past couple of years I have used Rapesco staples over a broad range of sizes and found no fault with them. This is a useful and versatile piece of kit. In most respects, except that it takes up more desk space and is a bit more awkward to carry around, it could be the only stapler you need for general home or office use.

Rapesco 1464 "MARLIN" Long Arm Office Stapler in BLACKThere is a HUGE range of Staplers out there, from the very tiny to the very heavy duty industrial type. So, where does this model by Rapesco fit? For me it is suitable for home/student/home office/commercial office.• The presentation is just a bland brown cardboard box. There is no information on it and there are no instructions with the Stapler. I find surprising for such a renowned brand and a bit disappointing.• Out of the box, the Stapler feels like a reasonable quality product. It is made up of a mix of metal and plastic, with a black matte finish.• It has a smooth action and no effort is needed. It is very comfortable to use.• A box of 5000 galvanised 26/6mm Staples is included with this Stapler.• Inserting the staples is easy, just pull up from the top front to expose the staple chamber, insert a strip of staples and close back down again.• Papers can be stapled close closed or wide temporary. Just look under the machine, press the little steel sunken button up, and then you can turn round the stapling plate to choose the manner in which you want to staple your papers.• The front and rear underside of the Stapler base is non-slip which keeps it in place on your desk while in use.• Also on the underside of the base there is a plate confirming the Staple sizes that can be used in it. It takes 26/6 or 24/86 sized staples.• The Margin Adjuster shows measurements in Inches and Centimetres. At a current RRP of £33.24 which I think is a bit expensive, especially if this type of Stapler is needed by a student. My star rating is based on this RRP. At time of writing this Review, it is much cheaper on Amazon.

As I now expect from Rapesco, the Marlin Long Arm is a very solid and substantial product. It staples through 25 sheets with no problems and is sturdy and reliable. For creating booklets and stapling in the centre of A4, A3 etc sheets, it is more than adequate. I already know that the Marlin is a good stapler and this model sits the top half on a long, springy arm with a sliding stopper for setting the position on the paper. The arm has a scale on either side for centimetres and inches. It loads easily from the top like a traditional stapler by lifting the top of the body. The anvil is very easy to push up and rotate, for open and closed staples. The base is mostly metal but has hard plastic in contact with the desk at either end.I was expecting two things on the base which aren't there: rubbery feet to provide more grip and an ID window (though I guess Rapesco don't think this is likely to be a personal office stapler that is going to wander off). I was also surprised by the number of screws protruding from the metal, and although there is not much danger of them contacting anything they do add to the workmanlike appearance of the underside. It just feels like there's something missing, like a panel or something. This is only a minor observation though. Construction is good and it doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart any time soon. In testing I've had no jams from 40+ staplings.I highly recommend it for stapling where a long reach is required and I'm looking forward to using it for booklets in the future.

This is a really good stapler to have although it's uses might be rather more specialised than most products of this kind. It's function is fairly obvious; it enables stapling across the width of the paper, with a precise, calibrated guide on the base-plate and a 25 sheet capacity which means you can staple your own documents to create booklets etc.My stapler came with a complimentary box of 5000 26/6mm staples so I could try it out properly, but it was pre-loaded with a cartridge already in the magazine; the Marlin is front-loading with a pull-down magazine and is easy to access. Like all the Rapesco staplers I have reviewed, the action is positive and reliable. My only criticism is that the metal base could have benefited from rubberised pads rather than the hard plastic ones fitted, but it's a relatively small point. My immediate use was to re-staple several books of sheet-music which have long been detached from their covers, but I've also used it to knock up a little customised sketchbook from some expensive watercolour paper offcuts I've had kicking around for years.Perhaps not a stapler you'll use frequently depending on the nature of your activities, but handy to have around and very good at the purpose it was designed for.I was pleased to test it out and it's a great addition to my workplace.

This long arm stapler is basically a "normal" Rapesco staple machine mounted on a very long arm, so it is not super heavy duty - but will handle 20 sheets easily. Most of the machine is plastic with a metal upper body on the stapler itself. It takes a short strip of staples, toploaded, in the most commonly used size 26/6mm and in this package a box of 5000 is included. There is a measure along the long arm with inches and cms, rather hard to read as it is black on black. A sliding bar allows you to set the distance you wish to staple in, but being all plastic it can move easily so recheck the position for each bundle you do. You can swivel the stapling pad to do normal stapling or spread the staple wide, and the base is pretty non-slip for stability. Strangely the stapler comes in a plain box with no instructions whatsoever. At the current Amazon price of £15 including a box of staples, this is good value for home, school or office when you want to make up centrally stapled booklets from A4 or A3 paper. If you do big loads you might want something tougher that will do thicker bundles though.

I often need to produce small quantities of written information printed from my word processor in 2 columns on A4 sheets folded to A5 size for stapling. I’ve long struggled, and now it is so easy with this Rapesco long arm stapler. It is even possible to staple A3 sheets folded to A4, and it takes standard 24/6 and 26/6 staples. A box of 5,000 staples is provided, and the stapler comes fully loaded.Overall the stapler is 15 inches long and its upper arm is calibrated to indicate inches and cm. Extension jaws have a spring hinged connection at the pivot end, and there is support by an intermediate marker cum paper stop. At the open working end is a fairly traditional stapler to load staples and then do the job.It does this effectively up to a couple of dozen sheets at a time, and with its robust construction in metal where strength is required, it looks as though it will do so for some time. The maker’s confidence is endorsed by a 15 year guarantee.

Review of Rapesco 1464 Marlin Long Arm Stapler with 26/6 mm Staples B/5000, Black - BundleThis is a good value stapler that can deal with large sizes of paper and get your staples just in the right place for making booklets. You can make a booklet out of folded A4, A3 or even A2. It just takes a little bit of maths to work out where to move the guide along the measure. I would have given it 5 stars if it had markings for different paper sizes to save me that bit of effort. It seems sturdy, works well, and it's useful that it comes with staples. However I've just checked how much the staples are currently on Amazon and it says 92p... whereas the difference between this stapler on its own (£8.49)compared to with staples (£14.89) is £6.40! Perhaps this is skewed by the single stapler being a fair bit under the RRP, but at current prices I wouldn't recommend getting the combination, even though it's convenient.

This product is very similar to the Manta Ray model, also available on Amazon, but this Marlin is superior. This long arm stapler isn't just about attaching papers together, but because you can slide papers down into its long arm you can for example put staples in the middle of sheets of A4 making an A5 booklet. This model has a greater use of metal in the construction making it, potentially more rugged and long lasting. It will also take more paper in one shot, in this case up to 25 sheets of 80g paper. Like its cheaper brother, you can set the depth of stapling so that you can repeatedly put staples in the same place and the head of the staple gun pulls back 180 degrees for reloading. There is a strip of staples already loaded so that you can start straight away, and a box of 5000 supplied to keep you going. This model is well worth the difference and I thoroughly recommend it.

This is a handy tool to have in any office or home-office. I tend to produce A5 booklets now and again for a local charity or for my own use and I just use A4 sheets folded in half then stapled in the middle. You need a stapler like this to be able to do it. There’s a measuring guide on the arm of the machine which is good for getting it in position, but my advice is to practice on some blank paper first then mark the stapler with a piece of tape or a white marker at the exact point. It saves time later. The machine uses two types of staples and comes with a box of 5000 to keep you going. It can also handle 25 sheets at a time. The top loading stapling head allows a 300mm stapling depth, which is just over A4 (widest side) so it could handle and A3 project easily. I like this and I’m glad I have it. Highly recommended.

The Rapesco Marlin ‘Long Arm’ Stapler is a good quality and reasonably heavy-duty stapler that offers a very impressive reach for stapling. The staplers are absolutely ideal for creating booklets and the like with – as they offer more than enough reach to be able to staple down the spine of A4 and A3 sized booklets. The stapler end itself is your usual Rapesco stapler. We’ve found that these can staple through a good 20 or so pages and a moderately thick paper cover without any fuss at all. We’ve also found that the spring-loaded mechanism inside very rarely jams when in use, and it can handle a large amount of use without any problems (we had to staple 200+ booklets over a weekend and found thestapler was more than up to the job). All in all – we’ve very happy with the performance of the long-reach stapler.

This is the stapler to use for making booklets when a normal stapler is not long enough to reach to the centre fold. This stapler is much longer than you'd need for an A5 booklet, but the extra length is helpful to maneuverer your papers. The long arm part has a centimetre and inch scale, but this does not cover the stapler head, so is of limited value in my opinion. The stapler has a useful 'rest', you can use this to line the papers up and ensure all staples go in the same place on your papers.Of course you can use it for normal stapling jobs, but it is quite long so needs space to be stored. It will fit in an under desk office draw if its full desk width, maybe not possible with a compact home office draw.As a stapler it uses two types of standard staple, and staples well.

As a teacher, I'm often making little booklets or exam papers for my students. For years, whenever the photocopier couldn't do the job, I'd make them myself and staple the corners. And then I got fed up and bought one of these. Now I make booklets properly, and these just help add that layer of professional looking quality to what I give to my students. They're strong and reliable, and work for both A5 and A4. When reviewing a different stapler, I stated that that these were quite comfortable to use even after stapling a lot but suggested an electric stapler would be worth the investment if you are stapling often. It's more difficult to get an electric replacement for something like this,as it's unlikely to be cheap. In which case, this stapler adds even greater value.
