This was not ordered for personal use but on behalf of a female within the immediate family. As a sufferer from osteo-arthritis and several of its associated syndromes, one of the effects of which is an inability to produce sufficient tears and saliva, she suffers from constantly dry eyes, mouth and lips. Other than the dry lips, the remainder are mostly corrected by prescribed remedies. This, and a differently coloured version of the same product only recently delivered, was seen as a possible solution to the sole remaining and previously unresolved condition.Interestingly, this is quite dissimilar to the almost colourless lip balms usually sold in pharmacies and provides some of the characteristics and benefits of a lipstick,i.e. enhancing lip colour. Unlike another Balm from this range ordered just a few days prior, this is a more normal pink and therefore a little closer in colour to many paler lipsticks. Colour aside, the formulation appears identical to the browner-toned product. Both provide the same benefits, as the balm actually works and has removed the dryness from which she suffers and resolved the slightly flaked appearance her lips sometimes exhibit. No other balm she had recently used has this ability.Revlon is a major and well-established brand and is widely available. It also has the advantage that its products are realistically priced, this not being any different. The on-site illustration provides a close-to-realistic impression of its colour and also that the pencil is quite large and broad in diameter. It is expected that it should last for several weeks even if used a few times daily. Unlike the previous example, this had a thin 2.5cm, easily removed thin plastic strip to seal the two sections of the casing.A product that actually delivers what it promises and will be purchased again.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain in "ELUSIVE" colour. This Revlon Lipstick is presented in a different and refreshing style, compared to the more usual lipstick. At first glance it looks a bit like a posh crayon or a marker pen. The protective cap fits on nice and tightly, so anything in your handbag should be safe from getting lipstick marked.Once the cap is removed the bullet tip really does look like a crayon, but this is an advantage in my opinion, in that the shape makes the application of colour to your lips easy. This colour is a good middle of the road one, and the pink colour of the casing accurately reflects the colour of the product. It is a very nice pink that will probably suit most age groups.Once applied,my lips felt moisturised and not in the least bit dry or uncomfortable. Neither did it feel 'gluey' on the lips. This lip colour did not bleed or dry out and flake. I found there to be enough colour with 1 application. This Balm Stain has a slight hint of a minty, menthol type fragrance with no taste to speak of.I liked that it did not transfer to my teeth, or to the rim of the mug when having a drink not long after application. Because it is not a strong colour, I didn't find that there was any long lasting stain of the lipstick colour on my lips. Over the course of a day, it would really need to be re-applied in order to maintain the colour. For this reason I am deducting 1 star from the rating.Revlon being a long standing tried, tested and trusted brand is really worth buying and this ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain is very competitively priced.

Looking like an oversized chunky crayon, this lip balm promises much and it really delivers. I was a bit wary as the colour of the balm looks very pink but once it was on, it left my lips lushly moist with just a hint of a warm pink only slightly darker than my bare lips. Made with shea, coconut, and mango butters I knew to be careful not to over apply. Unlike a regular balm or gloss, you don't need to layer it on. merely glide the crayon over your lips, using the pointy end of the pencil to carefully keep within the outline of your your lips without smearing. I could feel the moisturising effect and it felt soothing and not at all greasy or waxy as some balms and glosses are wont to be.Staying power was pretty good. I only had to reapply 3 times from morning until my nightly face wash and make up removal routine, despite ups of coffee and tea and such throughout the day.I was pleased with it, but the real test came when I hated it to my son, an aspiring make up artist. he first tried it on himself, loving the texture and effect as much as I did. he then proceeded to use it while making me up, pronouncing it super easy to apply without having to use a brush. He now wants several of these in different colours, including the nude for everyday wear for himself as he's prone to chapped lips, especially in the colour, windier weather. An all around winner in this household that is being added to our make up kits.

I love lipstick, but I always find that it dries my lips out. I hate the look after I have been wearing it for a few hours as, despite me paying for good quality products, it just doesn't always live up to expectations. I find that I often resort to just using some lip gloss, or vaseline. Bearing this issue in mind, I was interested to try the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Stain as it claimed to achieve a good colour whilst also using a butter complex to keep the lips moisturised. The balm-stain looks like a nice chunky crayon. It feels silky if you run it across your skin, and this is presumably due to the shea, coconut, and mango butters that form the 'triple butter complex'.When you apply the balm to your lips, it feels as if you have put on a light lip balm, without it feeling too thick. The colour is not terribly striking, but it is ideal for a normal daytime look. It can be made bolder by adding a few extra layers, but it still needs fairly regular application in order to maintain this.Overall, the balm stain is a lovely little product for your make-up kit. It feels positively luxurious on the lips, and gives a nice gentle colour to them as well. I would definitely purchase it in the future.

For me this colour is one that is a natural looking one, and one that will go with skintone even my pale one.Loved the shape of it as makes it easier to apply especially around the top lip area gives it an sharper look than a thicker crayon or chunky wind up tube ones. Made my pout more defined with the angled shape of it. You can smell the aroma whilst in its tube I found and it smells ok but when applied to lips no fruity aroma then.Staying power better than I thought and yes had to reapply after a meal but with most lip colouring this is usually the case.It felt nice and smooth almost like a conditioning cream when applied to lips and no dry bits felt on lips later during the day.Two coats I felt needed for s smooth good coloured look. Love the fact that it's a thin tube so easy to fit into pocket. Would buy this one when it runs out as a colour (Dawn) that I think is great for everyday use. Maybe not evening as a more natural one and if wanting a dramatic deep evening colour then could be worth looking at others shades in the range. The one niggle I found was trying to get the cellophane from around it off, at least though you know it should have its shaped edge intact.

A lovely chunky felt tip type product which slides onto the lips. The colour is true to the packaging - a nice pink that will suit many skin tones, although perhaps on the bolder side of what I would wear with my very pale complexion. You can apply just a little for a subtle look, or use it quite thickly for a bold statement. It really is matte, which gives it an up to date look, and looks deliberate enough to not look like your lips have just dried out! I had a bourjois matte lip colour which came in a lip gloss type tube, which I absolutely loved, but was discontinued, and this really reminds me of that. The product says it is a balm, and it does have a lovely moisturising feel as it goes on,and despite the fact that it is matte, it feels silky and moist. This lasted well after blotting, and stayed where it was meant to too, although the application was so easy that you could probably re-apply without a mirror anyway! There is a slight minty fragrance, but this did not hide the slightly plasticy-artificial smell, which I wasn't too keen on, which is the only reason I have knocked a star off the rating.

This is a cute, chunky little lip crayon that goes on softly and smoothly. It's very quick and easy to apply, you can just draw it on, and a little goes a long way. It gives great coverage, filling in any lines or crevices and leaving a flawless matte finish. The colour (Elusive) is bright and modern, a great pop of vibrant pink with a slight orangey undertone.I found that it had excellent staying power, and even after eating a greasy meal and having a hot drink, the colour and coverage looked exactly the same (which is rare for either a lip balm or a lip stick!) I didn't see any transfer onto the sides of the mug when I drank.I would say however, that this is more of a lip stain than a balm.It does feel soft and slightly moisturising, but no more so than most moisturising lipsticks, and I still found I needed to use a little bit of standard balm or gloss over the top to keep my lips feeling fully hydrated. As long as you don't mind this, then I'd recommend the product as a wonderfully bright lip crayon.

I am slightly mystified by the reference to a gel - this lipstick doesn't feel like a gel. It comes as a chisel ended stick in a slim container. Whilst applying the lipstick was easy, getting to it was difficult - I had to resort to a small box cutter to remove the outer film. It has a rich, creamy consistency, and I find it has a hydrating effect on the lips. Applying two coats, blotting in between, provides a good depth of colour. It doesn't survive eating, but whilst it leaves marks on a cup or glass, it isn't completely removed by drinking. I did find it better to use a lip liner - the lipstick does have a slight tendency to bleed and with the vibrant pink of this rhubarb shade,I did notice a bit of feathering without the lip pencil to give a defined edge. Somewhat surprisingly, it had a slightly fruity smell/flavour although it disappeared quickly. I have spotted that there is a nude coloured version which I think I'll treat myself to - the rhubarb pink needs more of a tan than I have.

I am a life-long sufferer with very dry lips, and have a lip balm of some kind in every pocket and handbag.  This balm is nicely moisturising and it stays put much longer than some. It is matt and the colour is very dense. I would describe ‘Elusive’ as a strong, warm pink. For me it is important to be able to apply a lip balm without a mirror for emergency top-ups when out and about, and the childrens crayon shape actually works really well, helping me avoid making too much of a mess. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup I find it provides a little bit of polish without any additional primping and preening time. I would consider buying another of these as it does feel nice, and the price is partially offset by its staying power.Note for Revlon: I would be even more likely to buy another if a more red currant variant was added to the range!Update: yesterday in a 'make-up emergency' situation I used this as blusher, and it worked really well. I'll be doing this again!

The colour reviewed was called 'Dawn" and was a classic pink. This colour suits me for daytime wear as not too harsh with my pale skin. The application was easy, with the twist pencil style applicator with positive click to told it back in place when finished with. Something I have not seen before and which I imagine in transit to shops or your home will ensure your product arrives in mint condition without loss of lipstick to the inside of cap.The texture of the lipstick was rich and creamy and it gave my lips a good amount of colour in two applications. The colour stayed on several hours and though there was some transfer to cup of coffee, enough stayed on that no reapplication needed till 4 hours ish later.I think this lipstick might be good in cold weather as it being a rich and relatively long lasting creamy based lipstick will help prevent lips drying out when out and about for a time in the cold.

I'm not going to lie; I originally got this purely for the colour. (Standout is a wonderful fall colour, a red with a touch of brown!) I wasn't expecting it to stay on after eating, or last all day.I ate a burrito, and although there was a lot of transfer, the colour remained on my lips. I drank cocktails; and despite minor transfer, the colour remained on my lips. The third event in this series of events is explicit, but the colour remained on my lips with very little transfer (if at all). One application. It's a proper balm stain; it'll act like a balm but take a while (say, half hour) to deposit the colour onto your lips properly. And you can reapply without messing up the previous layer. In fact, the colour will deepen....oh, and it has a minty scent to it. Not overwhelming, and you can't taste it, but it's there. I like it, but some people won't.

Being a lady of a certain age, I use a traditional lipstick. After trying Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain, I can honestly say I'm impressed. The shade 'Elusive' is a subtle shade of pink that colours the lips without an obvious 'lipstick look'.After applying and blotting, I did the 'hot drink' test and I'm pleased to say there was only a smidgeon of the product left on my cup - in fact I doubt I would have noticed it under normal circumstances but I as I was going to write a review, I held the cup up in front of a desk lamp so I could give a fair assessment. But the best part - for me - is how it feels on the lips: it is so soft and feels it is moisturising your lips without the gungy feeling and should provide adequate protection on a cold day.Highly recommended,a definite 5 stars from me!

This lipstick comes in a twist-up pen-style container. It has a slanted tip and is quite easy to apply as it glides on smoothly, although if you are looking for a precise outline you'll need to use a brush instead. It feels really pleasant on the lips - very soft and moisturising, more like a balm than a lipstick, and unusually for me I found I didn't need to add any gloss or balm on top to make my lips feel comfortable. It gives a nice natural colour too, making it appear as though you are not wearing any lipstick. It does need reapplying every few hours or it has a tendency to fade in the middle leaving only an outline, but seeing as it is quick and easy to reapply this isn't too much of a problem.I'm impressed with the overall look and feel and will try out others in the range.

This lipstick is shaped rather like a crayon and is a soft, pastel pink in colour. The lipstick has a nice, moisturising feel to and the lip balm helps your lips feel soft – even when it is cold and windy out. It does apply quite lightly – so you need a few layers if you want the colour to really show. Also, it does need to be reapplied throughout the day, as it is not very long lasting. I think it could be described more as a soft lip balm, which also has some colour. However, as an everyday lipstick for work, it is fine and it feels very comfortable to wear. I really like the way this lipstick feels, even if you need to apply it more than once. The shade is subtle,so not really for when you are headed out on the town, but nice for daytime and good for my pale colouring.

The advertising descriptions of this product are perhaps a bit overindulgent, but it is good. The colour stays for around 4 hours (be wary of this though on application - it stays not just on the lips for this long!) and I have very lightly english-sun tanned skin, and the colour looks great. Deep and rich coloured, if you're used to something more subtle and less obvious then applying less and blending it with a nude balm, or translucent lip protection, works really well. Doesn't feel sticky or greasy, feels light and moist on, and i'd recommend if you like the colour. The only downside is that though it is windable to get more, the sharp nib doesn't last long, and it's really hard to shape it back to that.It provides the equivalent of about 60 days of application.
