This is my first ever Razer product and I had high expectations based on their excellent reputation for hardcore gaming equipment. I am really pleased to say these headphones totally deliver. I tested them extensively for a couple of weeks with Call of Duty WW2 on Xbox One X.The Good:========* Excellent wireless sound quality with rich bass, powerful explosions and no noticeable lag.* Surprisingly long battery life. I played a couple of hours a day every day for just over a week before the low battery warning light came on, so I believe their claim of 16 hours battery life on a full charge.* Pretty decent simulated surround sound using Microsoft "Windows Sonic" virtual surround. This feature really helps to detect where your enemies are coming from! It isn't mentioned in the manual, but make sure you enable the Sonic surround sound option in the Xbox audio settings, otherwise you won't be getting the full effect. Once you've turned it on, the Xbox remembers to use it for these headphones every time you reconnect them.* Fantastic microphone clarity for in-game chat. My friends all commented on how much louder/clearer my voice is now when chatting through the Thresher's built-in mic, even though my previous headphones were mid-range and pretty decent.* The Thresher is so comfortable to wear for even the longest gaming sessions. I have quite a large head (being 6'2"!) and struggle to find headphones large enough to be comfortable, but the headband on these is flexible enough to be really comfy. The ear pads are also really soft and mould to your ears, don't leak much sound and block out external noises too.The Bad:=======* I had some real problems getting these to connect wirelessly to my Xbox One X. It took almost 30 mins to get them to establish a stable connection, but then there was absolutely no sound coming out of them. I figured out they must have been on mute out of the box and figured out which button to press to un-mute them from the instructions. Once I got them connected up, they have been flawless ever since, so I guess this was just bad luck and haven't knocked off any stars.* They are fairly heavy/bulky for headphones, but for me that's also a plus because they're big enough for my long head and they're solidly built and will take some abuse. Conclusion:=========The best wireless gaming headphones I've ever used, they justify their high price point by being top quality in every way. Well worth the money and highly recommended - 5 stars from me!

I've had this for a few days now and my early review is that this is a great headset. I've been looking for a 'true wireless' Xbox compatible headset for a while. I first tried the Turtlebeach 600, which I sent back almost immediately. The build quality was unimpressive, but the real issue was that the connectivity was poor (even after firmware update). It would regularly cut out for seconds at a time.*Connectivity* - So far I've encountered no connectivity issues with the Razer Thresher Essential. Audio comes through very clearly, and connection time after switching the device on is very fast.*Sound quality* - I'm not the kind of audiophile that would be able to interrogate the nuance of a Bose headset vs.a Sony MDX1000. But in my opinion the audio quality coming through this headset is great. I don't use it for listening to music. I use it to play games, communicate with teammates, and watching TV late at night when I don't want to disturb others.*Battery life* - When I first received it, I gave it a full charge as suggested (expect about 4 hours). So far I've not hit low battery after about 8 hours of gaming. For me this is fine - and the USB cable that comes with it is long enough that, in a pinch, I can plug it in to charge and still keep using it so I'm not caught short.*Comfort* - It's light, and the ear cushions are very comfortable. Significantly more comfortable than the Turtlebeach 600s. I've separately ordered oval ear cushions with cooling gel - off the back of review recommendations I've seen. However the fact that the cushions are easy to change is a great thing from my perspective, as it increases the 'life' of the headset by making it easy to swap these out when they get a bit tired.

I have to say, I am extremely impressed with this headset; I ordered the Thresher Xbox Essential and this is my review...Firstly, the unboxing experience is second to none. It feels like a premium product and so it should considering it costs £150!On taking it out of the box I was impressed with how it looked. It looked more impressive than my old turtle beach earforce xo seven and had a better build quality. The Razer logos light up green on the side too which looks pretty cool... also stops you sitting on them in the dark haha.I put them on and was instantly impressed with how comfortable they were. By far the comfiest headset I have ever worn. The leatherette around the ears is comfy and there is little pressure on my head.Using them on Xbox: I thought they were very good. They sound great and my friends said that I sounded very clear. I could tell where noises were around me when in game and movies sounded clear... until I went into my Xbox audio settings and turned on ‘Windows Sonic’. The sounds instantly made me more spacially aware and it felt as if I was in the room with the sounds. For anyone buying this headset... I recommend not buying the ultimate edition and just the essential edition... the extra money is not worth it when Windows Sonic works with the headset! The only downside is a electronic static noise when there is no sound coming out of the headset, but it’s no annoyance really...

I’ve not used Razer headsets before so didn’t know what to expect from them, but the first impression was that these were really comfortable on the ears. The massive cushioned ear pieces do shut out a lot of sound (I got in trouble for not hearing my wife!) and the Windows Sonic compatible surround sound really works well, though not as good as Dolby Atmos which, unfortunately, they don’t support. The headset as a whole is comfortable and makes allowances for glasses, though it is quite big, so anyone with a small head might find it a loose fit.As these are the essential model and not the 7.1 surround, the surround sound effect wasn’t perhaps as good as it could be but I’d still say it works fairly well.Call Of Duty WWII campaign certainly felt like a war with bullets whizzing past my ears with these on.The microphone design is great, it disappears into a groove on the left ear when not in use and you can pull it out and bend it round to the right place when needed. Chat seems clear and there is a separate volume for mic and headset.Recharging is done via an included usb lead, though you won’t need to recharge that often if my experience is anything to go by.If you’re not bothered by the 7.1 surround sound and can cope with the (still great) basic surround then this is a great price for a good quality headset.

I have the Turtle Beach 700s so it was interesting to see what the Razer Thresher headset was capable of on the Xbox One.First impressions, the build quality is step above the 700s. The headband adjustment is superb offering plenty of range to fit tiny and large heads. The supporting exterior headband means the Thresher doesn’t exert pressure on your head and ears – nice touch. The construction is robust so this headset can take some punishment. The earpads are very comfortable. Being made out of memory foam, they adapt to the contour of your ears and the leatherette finish doesn’t heat up during long sessions. The Thresher connected first time to the Xbox and didn’t drop a connection once. The sound quality is a notch above the 700s as well. The soundstage was clear and well defined. Subtle environmental sounds could be picked up easily especially when playing Halo 5 that I practically jumped on some occasions. I played some music through them and the Thresher did better than I expected.A nice touch that I didn’t notice until my missus pointed out was that the logo on each headphone glowed green. It didn’t look tacky. Are these worth £150? Over the TBs, I would take these. They are better in virtually aspect but I wouldn’t dare give them to the youngsters. They would hog these all day.

Day.... whatever.Working flawlessly. The only wireless Xbox headset I’ve tried which connects every time and stays connected.Razer support is utterly embarrassing though. They responded to polite email concerning initial problems with a generic reply about connecting to a PC/Laptop...Day 3....It would seem the headset needs to go through a few power cycles before it comes good.A few discharge/recharges later all of the initial problems have gone. They are far and away the best all round headset I’ve tried so far for Xbox One.Day 2...If you turn console off using controller the headset gets annoyed and turns it on again ?The crackling has stopped and volume control working again.Day 1Constantcrackling and momentary loss of sound as if forever losing and regaining connection.Headset delivered today. It started well. Excellent sound. After an hour the crackling started. The volume control dial which at first took forever to go from mute to full now does it in an instant like an on/off switch. This is the sixth different headset I’ve tried in a month and the sixth I’ll be returning. Why do companies struggle so much to make a headset which works with Xbox One?How do they have the nerve to sell problematic headsets at premium prices?

You'd think that if you're paying around £100 for a wireless headset you'd get a decent quality durable product; unfortunately this hasn't been my experience with Afterglow and Turtle Beach. The Afterglow mike connection kept cutting out, and we went through 2 Turtle Beach headsets, the earcup snapping off in the same place on both. The Razer Thresher is far sturdier, and has given great service so far. The earcup swivels are metal, not plastic like the Turtle Beach, so there's no chance they'll snap off. Wireless connection is very straightforward and very reliable, my only criticism being the overall sound quality which isn't quite as powerful and bassy as the Turtle Beach, but this is really splitting hairs. So if you're willing to pay £130 for a wireless headset I'd definitely recommend the Razer.

These headphones are excellent. The build quality is second to none. You can use these with your PC and XBOX One. It's very easy to set up on either system.Battery life is advertised at 16h. I got just under that so it'll easily last throughout the day.The sound quality is very good. I could hear everything in the game including the smallest of details that I've not heard before using my old headphones. I've not had any issues with the headphones loosing connection. The mic also works well, from what I've been told my voice was crystal clear.I've used these for about 4 hours straight and they were very comfortable throughout. No complaints there. They also block out some of the external sound so you can focus more on the game.Overall, great pair of headphones and a reasonable price.

Great headset for the Xbox. Doesn't fit as tightly as I would like, but is comfortable. Despite what many people have reported this headset does have mic monitoring that works well. All in a great headset. My only complaint, and say it's a pretty big one, is that although Razer market this headset as compatible with the new Series X/S consoles, it isn't, not currently anyway. It does connect and work, but it causes an issue with the controller, causing the contryto de-sync when you restart the consol. The only fix is to do a full power down and reboot the console. Razer have since admitted that this headset is not tested on the series X. They only tested the ultimate version that has the base station.I would not recommend this head set if you have a Series X or S

Sound quality is brilliant, especially with Windows sonic. However build quality could be better for the price. First pair I got sent I had a buzzing sound coming from the left speaker and a faint high pitch noise coming from the right speaker. Got them replaced, the replacements work great do not have the above issues, however one issue I have found with them is when I pull/push the retractable microphone there is an audible clicking sound coming from the headphone, like its catching on the cable inside of the headset, it doesn't effect the performance of the microphone though or the sound quality of the headset. So nothing detrimental to headset. But for price of them you expect not to have issues like these.Due to this I have knocked off a star.

Superb Headset, and truly wireless (no dongles or cables needed - connects just like a controller) - It will even automatically turn on the xbox when the headphones are turned on!Sound quality is very good for games, but I wouldn't recommend for music as the bass is off (a bit boomy) virtual surround sound also works surprisingly well (you can hear people behind you!)Ergonomics are superb. Very comfortable, and useful red light on mic when muted. One minor niggle is that the mic monitoring could be louder, although I didnt have any real issues.Overall, thoroughly recommend these headphones, especially for cord cutters.

Bought this as I needed to get a "proper" gaming headset. The first thing I noticed was the way it was carefully packaged in the foam. The next thing I noticed was how cool it looks with my Xbox.Cranked up the volume and played Destiny, Ghost Recon and a few other games and was very pleased with the sound quality. The headset fits well and is very comfortable. Nice touch with the extendable mic (my friends noticed the difference in sound immediately). The only thing I can fault about it is the mic is uni-directional, so no mic monitoring, but I got over that pretty quickly. Great Headset.

This is the Essentials version of the Razer Thresher for Xbox One. there is a 7.1 Surround Sound version if you want to stump up an extra £75, but for me, these Essentials fit the bill very well.Build quality is good, they are comfortable to wear for hours on end, I really like the retractable mic, and the immersive sound quality is (for my old ears) is perfectly fine.Connectivity was simple and rapid, and they will hold charge for up to 16 hours.Importantly, there is no lag, and I really rate them ... as do my nephews who were raving about them when they tried them out.

12.3.2020

Comfy with glasses (my main reason for choosing), very easy setup with an Xbox one, but troublesome when it comes to operating the headphone controls while wearing them. I'd have liked to pay less, but it's hard to find a decent headset that doesn't need a wire to the controller. The microphone is very directional, so positioning needs to be done carefully. They sound fairly good, but you'd obviously do better with a well chosen £100 pair of wired headphones. Gaming audio is all quite compressed as it is.

Great wireless gaming headset! Sound is great! On the right ear there is a master volume control, which gets plenty loud! And on the left side is a control to adjust the mix of gameplay and party chat which is handy when your team mates are dead and being too loud so you can easily turn them down.... Also you can mute your mic by pressing in the left control and mute all sound by pressing in the right control. With a metal frame and soft padding it makes for a sturdy and comfortable headset.
