General:Without a doubt, the Xbox One has gone through the more significant metamorphosis of the two big consoles since their release in November 2013 -- the other being the PlayStation 4. Even before its launch, Microsoft had begun changing the messaging philosophy of the platform, going from a console that heavily relied on DRM to an unshackled experience where owners can trade in and play used games. That was followed up by making the Kinect motion sensor no longer a required part of the system (the no-Kinect bundle is now the default entry-level model).Meanwhile, a lot has been fine-tuned under the Xbox One's hood -- particularly the firmware's functionality (not actual hardware tweaks),which, from a performance and ease-of-use standpoint, is still playing second to Sony's impressively smooth interface. A massive interface update dubbed the "New Xbox One Experience" was released in November 2015 that has improved some of the dashboard's logistics and aesthetics, but it's still hanging on to some lingering frustrations. But more on that later.Overall, Xbox One has had a great 2015 and is home to the best exclusives of the 2015 holiday season. In the short term, Xbox One makes a solid argument for ownership, but do 2016 and beyond look to be just as promising? To be clear, the two consoles are very closely matched. They offer a growing library of third-party games -- mainstays like the Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and Madden series, as well as newer titles like Fallout 4 and Rainbow Six Siege are all available for both platforms. And both systems double as full-service entertainment systems, with built-in Blu-ray players and streaming services like Netflix, YouTube and Hulu.In my opinion, the PS4 still maintains an edge, with slightly smoother gameplay and a much more straightforward interface. But Xbox harbors a more mature media app ecosystem and a decent list of exclusive titles. Xbox One will continue to have a solid 2015 in terms of exclusive software, but 2016 and beyond aren't as well defined.Major Xbox One exclusive games (available now or soon):- Halo 5- Forza Motorsport 6- Rise of the Tomb Raider (timed exclusive)- Halo: Master Chief Collection- Sunset Overdrive- Titanfall (also available on PC)- Rare ReplayMajor Xbox One exclusive games due in 2016 and beyond:- Quantum Break- Scalebound- Gears of War 4- Crackdown 3- ReCoreHardware: The BoxMuch of the internet seems to dislike the look of the Xbox One, but I happen to find its unassuming look compelling. It's a weird mix of old VCR styling and simple modern lines with a bit of gloss and matt black to break things up. Granted, the PS4 had a go at being less boxy but the Xbox One radiates quality and the understated look really does work.Looks are somewhat irrelevant, mind you. What matters is that it matches most living room appliances and will fit into an Ikea cabinet or shelf quite happily. It is a fair bit bigger than the Xbox 360, granted, but we're not to the point of causing a problem. On the back are the usual connections (Ethernet, USB 3.0, optical, HDMI-out) and the unique HDMI-in, which allows you to plug in anything with an HDMI. The idea is that you can control Sky TV through the Xbox One, so there's less faffing around. The PS3 and Xbox 360 work via this port too, although expect a bit of lag until Microsoft irons things out.Perhaps the biggest gripe with the hardware is that it makes us pine for the days when all you had to do was add in a cartridge or disc and off you went. Before you do a thing the Xbox One must download a 507MB patch. You then need to download and install a patch for the game you want to play, if one is required. While the Xbox One can update itself in the background if you allow it to, you still have to wait for a game to be installed, with each one needing to reach a certain installation point - usually around 50 % - before you can play it. By this point I was on my third cup of tea and feeling slightly wired, thinking that if this was the Mega Drive I'd at least be two stages into Sonic the Hedgehog 2.Adding to the misery, mandatory game installations mean the hard drive is soon put under a lot of strain. Forza 5, for instance, needs 31GB of storage space. Luckily Microsoft has promised support for external storage solutions, which means the weight on the shoulders of that 500GB internal hard drive will soon be lifted. When exactly, I'm not sure.Like the headset with the Xbox 360, the Xbox One's offering is relatively hardy, but nothing like the 3rd-party offerings you get from device makers such as Turtle Beach. Think plastic and more plastic. Still, the sound quality is good and the microphone works nicely, which is ultimately what you want from a headset ─ at least until you can afford to upgrade to something flashier.Controller:At first glance, you may think Microsoft has merely recycled the Xbox 360 controller to save money. Look closer, though, and you will see two new buttons, the left of which is app and function specific and the right is for bringing up a menu. The central illuminated Xbox button makes it very easy to jump out of what are you doing to the dashboard. This makes it easy to go from, say, watching a bit of Breaking Bad on Netflix to hopping into an online game of Battlefield 4.The directional pad has been improved and feels more precise as a result, which is good news as the old version was a bit rubbish. It particularly helps with games like Killer Instinct where specific combinations of movements are needed to get the required result. Both joysticks are now more taut and have a smaller indented area, which felt uncomfortable at first but became normal in no time. Lining up a shot in Call of Duty seems more natural.Perhaps the biggest difference is the introduction of Impulse Trigger rumble packs in each of the trigger buttons located on the back of the controller. These are meant to make certain actions, such as shooting a weapon in Call of Duty, feel more realistic by way of vibration. While it's a nice touch for single-player gaming and works very well, it can become tiring in multiplayer.Minus the fetching white Xbox One light, it's business as usual. Rather than reinvent the wheel, Microsoft has merely refined what made the Xbox and Xbox 360 controller so appealing. The Xbox One controller gets a solid thumbs up. If only the £20 plug and play charge kit was standard, but at least you get one set of batteries to get you started.User interface:Microsoft's tile-based Metro user interface - or whatever we have to call it these days - makes an appearance on Xbox One, although unlike Windows Phone and like Windows 8 it scrolls horizontally. You can pin stuff you use the most just like before, or jump directly to the Store to buy new games and other content. Rewardingly, navigating around it all is nice and easy.A new feature is Snap. This allows you to run, say, Netflix while browsing the built-in Internet Explorer. Essentially part of the screen is taken up by one task while the game runs in the remaining area. We've seen this in action on Windows 8 and it gives you the ability to multitask. It may seem an odd addition to a gaming device, but it means you can be looking up a level guide with the game still running in the background.Apps and social networking:A number of apps like Twitch.tv, used for streaming gameplay videos, are currently missing, as is social networking. But Skype, Netflix and the few others on offer should keep you going while you wait. Ultimately, things can only get better in this department ─ you'll just have to be patient if you become an early-adopter, that's all.Arguably you only need to do so much on a games console, anyway. I've never, for instance, felt the need to fire up Microsoft Word. But choice, is always a good thing and as things stand the lack of iPlayer is the biggest problem.Blu-ray:While PS3 owners got to enjoy Blu-ray disc goodness, the Xbox 360 had HD DVD. Luckily this time around you can slide Blu-rays into the front-loading disc slot, allowing developers to fit more content on discs than before and you get to enjoy films at much higher quality, both in terms of sound and picture. Just bear in mind you have to download the Blu-ray app to get it working.I've heard reports of a screeching Blu-ray noise, but this seems like an isolated issue. At no point did my Xbox One sound like it had been possessed, perhaps because the delivery bloke hadn't dropped it.Games:The initial launch line-up is perhaps not the best, with a couple of the bigger games landing next year such as Watchdogs and Titanfall. Indie games are also coming in 2014, with March touted as the month we'll see some action. This is the same story for the PS4, which has seen a few big games pushed back. There's nothing really new or killer to make you say 'wow', but there are more platform exclusives on Xbox One than PS4. Factor in the online aspect of some games and you will be kept busy until 2014 when a number of potentially more interesting titles arrive.Graphics:So how good are the graphics, you're no doubt wondering? Well, visually the step up is substantial, even at such an early stage. Only gamers used to high-end PC rigs will be disappointed.Call of Duty is vastly smoother, Forza 5's cars look ridiculously close to reality and FIFA has never appeared so life-like. Shadows look more realistic and light trickles through tree branches as if you were actually there. Really, it's all positive stuff given how early in the game it is for developers.Take a step back to the Xbox 360 and suddenly it looks very dated, even though the Xbox 360 is still somehow managing to offer increasingly impressive visuals all these years on.Conclusion:Should you buy an Xbox One or stick with your current console? That is the million dollar question, or rather the £430 question. As things stand, £430 is a lot of money, especially when the PS4 is cheaper and technically more powerful.Let's also not forget the line up of launch games is reasonable, but certainly not hugely impressive or new, and lacks Halo (although arguably the series has gone off the boil in recent times).Really, the answer depends on you and your wallet. The true potential of a console is never really reached at launch so a proper plunge into next-gen visuals will happen over the next few years. An element of patience is, therefore, essential. Those who get in at the ground floor are obviously die-hard fans who are happy to wait while the foibles are ironed out. Me? I've yet to encounter anything jarring enough to make me feel like ringing up Steve Ballmer to complain. So really it boils down to whether you are happy paying more for the privilege of improved visuals, a Blu-ray player, vastly superior user-interface and a Kinect sensor so clever it saves you having to move from your couch. If the answer is yes and you can put up with a few bugs, you will not be disappointed.Ultimately, Microsoft's vision is one where the Xbox One is the hub of your living room. You use it to watch Sky TV through, browse your holiday photos, download movies, surf the internet, stream your music collection and blow people up in Call of Duty. All of which the next-generation console achieves, albeit with a few hiccups in places.By no means is it an essential purchase, especially when the Xbox 360 has a lot of life in it yet, but it's one you probably won't regret if you bite the bullet.

The Xbox One has come a long way since its initial launch back in November 2013. While the console itself and controller look the same, there has been a massive improvement in the User interface of the console and software updates to the controller. This particular Xbox comes with 1TB of storage which is what the console should have had originally. The standard console only comes with 500GB of storage and anyone that owns one will tell you that it fills up far too quickly especially as many games take 20-50GB of storage each, then you have all the apps already installed on the console. In my opinion if you plan on owning several games at once and don't want to start un-installing games to install new ones then the 1TB version is the only way to go,heed my advise on that as 500GB goes nowhere!Firstly as to what you get in the box:Xbox One 1TB Console1x Wireless controller in matching black2x AA batteries for the controllerExternal transformer (power brick)Chat headset1x HDMI cablePort wise on the console you have Power, HDMI-IN (from your satellite box), HDMI-OUT (to your TV), 3xUSB 3.0, Optical Audio, Ethernet Port, Kinect Port. On the front you have the slot loading Bluray drive with a touch capacitive eject button and the Xbox logo which lights up also doubles as an on/ off button!-----------------------------------------------------------------Compared with how the interface was at launch the xbox has moved on leaps and bounds with its friendliness and ease of use, everything uses a tile based system (very similar to windows 8), it's easy to navigate using a controller and the layout never changes meaning certain options are always located in the same place. If you plan on buying a Kinect then navigation to some of the sub menus is made quicker and easier. Unlike the Xbox 360, game are required to be installed prior to playing, depending on the game this can take anything from 20 minutes to an hour if you include any updates the game needs to download (usually every game has a few). Disconnecting your console from the internet prior to installing the game does speed the installation time but you will need to update the game via the internet before you can play it anyway. The console runs ultra quiet, indeed the only noise it makes is when the disk initially starts to spin after which is quietens down to a inaudible "hum". The external power brick probably makes the most noise from the fan that spins inside it but even that is barely audible, sat behind a tv or the console itself and you can't hear it! Ventilation is also a major step forward with the Xbox One over the 360. There are vents on the left, right, back and top of the console with a massive fan directly over the GPU, cooling or heat related issues will not be a problem with this console and Microsoft deserve credit for the design even though it is a bigger console than the competition. Aesthetically i like the all black look with industrial looking vents and it looks good under the TV.The controller is a joy to hold, ergonomic with good positioning of all the buttons and the triggers are great for first person shooter games such as Battlefield. The controller takes 2x AA batteries and because of the wifi direct technology the controller uses they seem to last a lot longer than the old 360 controller did. Two extra points, firstly if you plug a USB cable into the controller and then into the console you end up with a fully wired controller with data being sent down the cable and second, at the bottom of the controller is a headset port where the chat headset plugs in. The headset is basic but does the job perfectly well and has mute and volume up/down buttons on it!Aside from various apps such as youtube, internet browser and the ability to livestream gameplay to Twitch along with other apps you can also create "parties" so you can hold a conversation with friends while playing different games, broadly speaking it is crystal clear and works well, sometimes it doesn't work and invites you have sent never get received....Hard resetting your console fixes that (you hard reset the console by holding the touch capacitive button on the front of the console until it switches off). There are 2 power settings, "insta on" and Eco. Eco mode turns the console completely off which means it can't update in the background or install new software during the night where as insta on uses a little power to keep the system up to date, it also means the console can be turned on and you playing the game within 20 seconds or so, indeed if you were playing a game and didn't close it off then you will be able to carry on where you left off without any loading screens. For playing games the console does a great job, much is talked about that it doesn't match up to the PS4, truth be told there are a few games where the resolution is slightly higher on the PS4 but unless you are gaming off a 50 inch monitor you won't notice any difference, indeed i would rather have higher frame rates to deliver a smoother image on screen and that is what the xbox does best with good colour saturation. For newcomers to gaming be warned that to play the xbox online you will require xbox live gold membership which can be found here

the Xbox One 1tb is quite impressive and this blue forza pack looks good and makes some cool noises when using the console buttons .firstly its not quite as big as it looks , the disc mechanism works like a car so there is an opening and you push gently in and it returns when you lightly touch the sensor on the right side of the disc entry ( no tray like old sytems ). whether this is good or bad, time will tell, but you need to be carefull handling the discs.there are 3 usb ports , 2 hidden round the back and one on the left side. all locations seem poorly chosen. there is 1 hdmi IN port ( any digital input and is selected by TV option on the home screen ) and 1 hdmi OUT port ( signal to tv ).the only sound output is via optical cable or the hdmi lead which for those with older hifi is not good but i'm sure you can get an analogue signal from most new TVs or some sort of cable adaptor . other than that its just the power in from the seperate transformer which seems to switch itself on and off but supplys power to the remote detector to turn on with the controller .the specs are impressive and the graphics and sound are as you would expect from the latest console ( but you need to set up audio output from settings as its default is stereo pro logic )the game ( Forza 6 ) comes in the form of a downloadable file via xbox live and is huge 58 Gb and takes hours to download and install . the game itself is very good but thats for another review . sadly you only get the standard version of the game , i was expecting to get the vip or ultimate version as its packaged with the Forza styled console and pad . you can upgrade but with extra cost of course .so it's obvious that if you dont have internet access don't buy this product ... most games have downloadable content that require large amounts of hard drive space ( luckily you do get 750 Gb after formatting which is about 15 big games but you can attach additional hard drives for extra storage if your someone who has large data collections . ( there is a 2 Tb hard drive especially designed for the X1 available on Amazon )backwards compatability is coming to the X1 so you will be able to play your old X360 games soon and there is talk of playing with PC gamers also.now 2 things are missing but may be added in the future .1 > the ability to rip CDs to hard drive and listen to them while playing your favourite game.2 > to sync with your PC and play media files ( music / video / pictures )apparantly these type of files can be played via USB ( stick or drive ) and CDs via an app but not while playing a game . for me this is a step backwards as these were some of the best features of the X360.Also the home screen is confusing and clunky and considering the X1 has a blu ray player you have to download an app to use it . the same applies to media files via usb and cd player , things you would expect to be built in .as a gaming console it excels but as a media player it is lacking ... tv , dvd , blu ray all seem compressed and there are issues with audio / picture syncing but as these are app driven and the core operating system is rewritable these issues may be resolved in the future.so i am impressed mostly and hopefull of improvements , but at the moment it falls a little short of the perfect multi-media machine microsoft claim it to be. it will take a while to find your way round the home screen ( it took me 15 mins to find the code entry to download Forza 6 ( hint look in games )) and finding friends and setting up parties is a bit fiddly but apparantly the home screen and friend issues will be adressed with a system update in the near future .so to sumerise ... generally impressive with some system issues ... be prepared to be a little frustrated while learning your way round ... i will edit my review early 2016 and we will see if microsoft have delivered all that has been promised .

Thinking of getting the Xbox one? well read on and i'll tell you some of my pros and cons I've discovered while using it.One of the fist things you'll need to decide on, among other things, is which Xbox storage capacity is going to be right for you, 500 GB or the 1 Tb. If your somebody who likes a large contrast of different games then your gonna need to get the 1 Tb Xbox, taking into account that each game is gonna set you back at least 50 GB. however if your someone who likes playing 4 or 5 of your favorite games and a few movies the 500 GB Xbox is gonna be perfect for you (just don't blame me when you discover how quickly you storage disintegrates). Just to give you some prospective,I've downloaded 6 games and some apps now, and have used just over 500 GB!Secondly you'll need to decide on color, which currently only comes in black and white, so doesn't give you much choice and is totally left to your personal preference (mines black by the way(just in case you were wondering))Another thing your going to have to consider is the price considering the 1 Tb and 500 GB only have around £30 ($42) difference between them. So is it really worth having half the storage for £30 less? I'm gonna leave that up to you, after all if worst comes to worst and you run out of space you can always delete some of the games you don't play any longer, or add an external drive for more memory.Something you'll also have to be aware of before buying, is that new releases (games) are gonna cost you around £50 ($70) and older ones anywhere from £20 to £40 each ($30 to $60). So insure your prepared for that, however many company's do offer Xbox bundles with games included which should work out cheaper. Many games now, excluding some such as fallout 4, are online multi-player which means you are going to need to purchase a gold membership, which you should get a 30 day free trail with your Xbox. however after that its gonna cost you £5.99 for a month, £14.99 for 3 months and £39.99 for a year($14.20, $24.99 & $59.99).Now probably the biggest problem of the Xbox one, download time, yep any one who already has the Xbox one is probably nodding there head in agreement with me. for every game you buy, even with the disk your gonna be waiting for at least an hour for the game to be playable, while this may speed up response time in the game it is the biggest downside to the Xbox. You can imagination the time its gonna take to download a game from the internet. And I'm not just talking about the games, be prepare to update everything on startup, right down to the controllers, yes you heard me the controllers.Overall, even with the negatives taken into consideration, I could not recommend the Xbox enough. The TechTonik Team.

The Forza Motorsport Xbox One bundle beautifully captures the spirit and sounds of the iconic racing sim and is sure to stand out and please fans of the series. What you get inside of the box (aside from the usual information leaflets and warranty information) are the standard yet sizeable power adapter along with its accompanying UK power plug, a HDMI cable, a mono chat headset, a single use download code for Forza Motorsport 6 (Standard Edition) and of course the themed Xbox One console and matching controller. Both the console and the controller itself feature a dark blue colour scheme, complete with racing stripes, drawing inspiration from the featured 2017 Ford GT cover car.The controller is especially well designed and crafted with its built in 3.5mm headphone jack and rubberised texture grip. It’s even more impressive when you consider that these controller additions are only just becoming the standard with the introduction of the newer and sleeker Xbox One S line of consoles. As an added touch you're greeted or bid fare well with the roar of an engine as you start the system or power it down via the touch sensitive (start – stop engine motif) front power button. Until recently you were able to silently turn the unit on/off via the controller however, after a recent system update from Microsoft, this no longer appears to be the case. This could be prove to be an issue, at least for the time being, if you want to avoid disturbing those around you each time you operate the otherwise silent console. The built in and unremovable 1TB hard drive should provide a great foundation to build upon with your collection of Xbox One games, backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles and multimedia apps. Plugging in a compatible portable drive, into a vacant USB port and formatting it as required, should simply and effectively expand your console’s usable storage when you do eventually find yourself short on space. In terms of connectivity the unit features three “super speed” USB 3.0 ports (two at the rear and one to the side), an S/PDIF port, HDMI Out (to TV) and In (other devices), proprietary Kinect Port, IR Out and an Ethernet port for wired networking (this is in addition to supporting wireless networks). In summary the Forza Motorsport 6 Xbox One bundle, and indeed the console in general, represent a great all rounded system. Featuring local media playback (BDs, DVDs, CDs, Multimedia from USB), Streaming Apps (Amazon Video, YouTube, On Demand/Catch Up TV etc.) Backwards Compatibility (Select Xbox 360 titles), console exclusives, Play Anywhere (Windows 10 copy of select Xbox One titles when bought digitally), free cloud saves etc., make for some serious and compelling consideration.

Had the weekend with this and I love it. The White console and controller look lovely and make a nice contrast with every other black gadget under my TV.When first plugging in you will have an update of approx 500 MB. I like the dashboard interface and ability to 'snap' to apps and achievements and many others. The first 'culture shock' was the ability to multitask on the console - gone are the days when you need to exit your game to do something else and then have a lengthy start up of the game.I've noticed as well that if you switch off the console and start it up again you begin at the same point in the game.I like the game recording aspect as well - the console even automatically recordsgameplay at certain game play points eg My first death in Alien Isolation by the alien and < spoiler> which is a nice touch....The console is quiet ( but I generally play with headphones anyway)Sunset Overdrive looks fun and manic but I think I will put some time into Alien and Shadows of Mordor first of all....If you have a tablet/smartphone I would recommend downloading Smartglass - it has great integration with the console - allowing you to input codes , look at activity feeds etc even when the console is off.PS4 or Xbox OneNo one can deny that the Xbone launch was a disaster which boosted the PS4 sales and it is well known the PS4 is a more 'powerful' console - giving higher resolutions on some third party titles - but I would not base your purchase on that.I think the Xbone looks fantastic, I have always preffered the Xbox UI ( PS3 is now boxed away) and I think you would only notice any difference in a side by side test ( which you are never going to do ). Microsoft have been doing monthly updates to the dashboard as well and as developers get more familiar with the console these differences should iron themselves out....Make your decison on which one your friends have or which one has the games you want to play - for me Sunset Overdrive was an attractive bundle and I look forward to playing Quantum Break in the future - and I already had the Gold subscription with my 360 saving me 40 quid. With the games out now and in the future ( can't wait for Far Cry 4 ) I think now the case is compelling for an upgrade to next gen!

First thing I noticed is the console is BIG! But that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. The console design and controller are really nice, and the sound it makes when you switch it on and off are unique in a good way. Just so you no the forza 6 download takes up 46gb and I started off with 780gb not the 1tb it states. I understand that's because of the updates and other things. Be prepared to wait over 24 hours with a good internet connection to get forza 100% downloaded. But I was able to start playing the game at 18% download which took it 7 hours. Now the major problem is the installation of discs. You cant just put a disc in and start playing it you must wait for it to install into the console but then you still need the disc to play the game after it has installed to the console. Why you still need the disc after you have installed it? I don't no. Its annoying especially at Christmas when you want to play your games but have to end up waiting until the 27th to really start playing. But again I got to play Halo Master Chief Collection at about 65% which took it about 5 hours to get to. You even have to install the blu ray player it only took 30 minutes but still why is nothing built in to the console to start off with its like we have to download everything. After all that is out of the way though it is a really great console and the same happens on the PS4 with the install thing so I have heard, so its not just the XBOX ONE. But just be ready to have patience for the downloading and installing because it really annoyed me at first but after that is out of the way you will be glad you bought one.Pros :- Great console/controller designForza 6 is the best realistic driving game I have ever played (Not as good as Mario Kart)Blyrays look brilliant and play well on itGraphics are greatThe best selection of exclusive games at the minute (Forza, Halo, Tomb Raider, Rare Replay, Gears of war)Achievements (6000 G for Halo Master Chief collection and 10,000 G for Rare replay so it makes the games even bigger)Cons:- Installing discsUpdatesHaving to download everythingMorales been forced into buying Xbox live gold (I haven't but everywhere you look its prompting you to buy It)Microsoft

Where to start?!?!Why did i choose team Xbox over team Playstation?!?! well i have very little time for gaming these days and i tend to binge play whenever i have a few spare hours, so i chose the Xbox for its media streaming capabilities. i now watch my BT vision, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, Blurays, Freeview and other on demand services through one console. The layout and general appearance of the xbox home screen is very user friendly and easy to navigate! Multitasking on the xbox is a god send as i can install a game while playing another (provided ive purchased via download) i can flick between TV and any other apps with the click of a button and pick up where i left off hours later.I was pleasantly overwhelmed at how good this feature is! you need to see it to believe how good it actually is!Now gaming.... The controller provided is the lightest and comfiest controller ive ever held in my hands. its a lot sturdier than the 360 controller and it has a much improved battery pack! The 2 top bumber buttons are however slightly on the noisy side! The graphics on the Xbox One arent as good as the Playstation (because the playstation is slightly more powerful in terms of hard ware) but there is little to choose between them. If its graphics and game play your after i would save up a lot more cash and purchase your very own high end gaming PC. However, the xbox has provided me with hours of stuning visuals from the likes of assassins creed, Forza and Fifa! Next Gen gaming is a beautiful experience giving your eyes hours of pleasure.the downside of the xbox is the amount of time it takes for a game to install on the hard drive. Even when reading from a disk a game will take an age to install. The 500gb Hard Drive is also quite disappointing. I have 6 games and a few apps installed onto my Xbox one and i am already at the 50% mark on my Hard Drive fullness. The console its self.... I went for the White Console purely because i think it looks better than the bog standard black one. I didnt play Sunset Overdrive as the adverts didnt appeal to me and it looked like a very very silly game... I traded the download code for a forza 5 code that my friend received when he purchased his xbox a few days later.

Arrived on the day of release, just been spending the first few hours with it today (the day after), and I love it!!!! I'm a PS3 convert, the PS4 didn't interest me, not having any exclusives I liked and just being a games console, but the XBox One? And in white? I love it! The controller is on occasion a little confusing (used to PS trigger controls, no idea which one is which when prompted to press one in the game), but it's perfectly laid out, comfortable, and most important to me not going to need as much charging as the PS4's, that and it's not ugly as sin like its rival.Set up took a bit, but it downloaded the latest update and has took everything in its stride.Connected with my iPad Mini via Smartglass in seconds, still no issue, brilliant for general navigation and using apps like Amazon Prime Instant Video. In all, very slick.Downloading Sunset Overdirve took two hours easily, and that's with a stable, decent internet speed from BT (cable, not fibre-optic, on average at 13mbps, lowest 8mbps, highest 16mbps), so I prey to those who have bad connection speeds, but once done (I started playing it at 64% of the download, I think it was ready to go at 25% or something), it's fast, fun, and addictive. Thousands of enemies, massive map, always being near enemies, crazy resident fiends, the ability to personalise your character, how Sony could have let Insomniac games (makers of Ratchet and Clank, a Sony exclusive) make this for Microsoft I'll never know, but it's a brilliant game. Just light hearted, fast paced graphics, and not easy (died three or four times so far out of stupidity, though it is fun to see how you come back to life, either like a zombie, through a TV like a horror movie, or being winched in to go again, so far it's always put a smile on my face), but when you have the mentality to stay up and running (that causes the biggest bonus damage), everything explodes in your wake.Love the game. Love the console. A bargain when I ordered it, absolutely brilliant, glad I waited so long before going next gen, no issues at all. Currently it does miss BBC iPlayer, and it does have a nick here and there, not caused by me, but in all I love it. Completely worth it.

It’s now 2015 and Microsoft’s turnaround continues. What launched two years ago as a clunky mess of a console, focused on establishing the Xbox brand as a multimedia device with the added feature of playing games, is now a brilliant, competitive games machine with a vast growing library of equally brilliant games. The hardware is of course exactly the same as the console which launched two years ago but with the updates Microsoft release monthly the performance has seen and increase and the Xbox one now feels fluid. The 1 Terabyte model is now also available for those wanting more space. The standard 500GB is a little low in my opinion so a 1 Terabyte version might be worth researching. In relation to the PS4 the Xbox one is marginally worse spec wise but this does not affect gameplay often and is barely noticeable to the majority of gamers. This is just a pure specs thing and will not affect your enjoyment of the Xbox One. The original Xbox “Dashboard” was slow and clunky making the PS4 feel faster but Microsoft has replaced it with a new experience based on Windows 10. It is loads faster and your most recently accessed content sits at the top, and all the stuff related to that game is just a click away. Click the right trigger and you’re taken straight to your pinned games and apps, while your friends list, messages and notifications are easily accessible from the new side panel. You can still get to the games, music and movies in the Store, but selling you content and services no longer seems like the most important thing which is a good thing. The Xbox Ones controller is amazing compared to its 360 counterpart and even the PS4. Its feels solid in the hand and is durable but a rechargeable battery built in would have been a nice addition that has gone amiss.Overall the Microsoft Xbox One is a games system that had a rough start but is now coming back on terms or even exceeding the PS4. At this rate with new features such as backwards compatibility arising it’s easy to see the Xbox being the Number 1 games console to date. Whether it’s a Christmas Present or Birthday gift the receiver will be very, very happy.I Hope you found this review Helpful :)

One may wonder why I have decided to rate this as 4 stars instead of 5 star - the reason is that the improvements between the 500gb console and the 1TB are extremely small, and mostly aesthetic at best. However one must state that the reversal of the matte black finish from the vents to the smooth top of console is a very noticeable aesthetic difference, as one will not need to wipe their fingerprints off the top as they may have done with the old 500gm console. This package also comes with an updated controller, which will allow one to use the old Xbox 360 headsets and other third party headsets. However, the cheaper Xbox 360 styled headset was supplied with this console. It still has its proprietary connection port at the bottom for the newer headset, and for other attachments such as the chat pad, due to be released in future. The Xbox One was not worth buying almost 2 years ago when it was launched, but Microsoft has made numerous improvements since then (including a hefty price drop), making it's User Interface almost as easy to use as Apple's iPhone. In terms of general multimedia function, the Xbox One now is beginning to live up to what it tried to sell itself as 2 years ago. Coupled with the Xbox Remote, and Kinect (although the Kinect features are still not exceedingly useful); you will find yourself using the Xbox One for more than just games. The Xbox One has all the device features, and UI support to make this incredibly easy to use. Furthermore, the Xbox Live services remains as one could argue as the most stable and reliable online gaming service since its inception. In terms of gaming, most games are multi-platform, with a few token exclusive games either to Sony or Microsoft (or Nintendo). The difference in graphical performance between the Xbox One and Playstation 4 is well documented, but as others have stated - if one desires high fidelity graphics - a gaming PC would easily outmatch both the Xbox One and Playstation 4.In summary, the Xbox One remains a work in progress, but it is becoming the one multimedia platform that you will likely use everyday, when you turn on your telly.

At the time, an insanely good deal at about £314. Arrived on launch day and as soon as I got home, it was opened and downloading the game. For anyone who's never owned a 'next gen' console before, heres how it goes:1. Open it up and set it up2. Run through the onscreen set-up3. Sign up (or in my case, log in) to your xbox profile4. Run updates (which took about 20 minutes to download)5. Ready!Downloading the game was a bit of a culture shock to somebody who has dealt in disks since my Dreamcast, so the 2 hour wait was unwelcome, but a product of my low internet speed. With Xbox live Gold, you get 1 or 2 free games a month, so I managed to get last months game as well as this months (Nov) game too, which take much less time. As the console matures, better games will become available for free. The console is 5 Star so far. Looks great, runs quietly (though noticably warms up the general area around it) and once I hook up my skybox to it, it will be the hub of my lounge (sorry wiiU!).The game itself is mental, best way to describe it. Imagine Jet Set Radio, mixed with Crackdown, then a unicorn vomited all over the baby they made, then you add ridiculous weapons, clothes and humour too. Grinding it intuitive, mobility is set to 'insane' as you grind on wires, wallrun, bounce on cars and dash through the air and on water. The story is balls-to-the-wall stupid in a great way. The multiplayer element (Chaos Squad) is stupid fun, with 8 people running around, competing against each other for high scores and working towards a base-defence style endgame for high scores, bonuses and new customisation items. The first time i played it, people were laying down bright green acid traps, shooting firework guns, lobbing tnt-teddies around, all at night, all with amazing lighting effects, sound effects and a super-cool soundtrack.Get it, enjoy it, watch out for the guy with grey hair, rocking a hawaiian shirt, gun holster with mouldy banana, leather trousers and elf ears stealing your kills in multiplayer.

Well is the update any good? simple answer if your new to XBOX ONE and envisage the extra storage for a growing games collection will be of benefit then yes i would say so. The new matte finish look good too certainly won't look as bad between dustings as gloss black.I jumped ship from XBOX back to Playstation at launch but have remained a little underwhelmed with its Multimedia abilities. So with the current price drop i've got myself a little present in the XBONE 1tb. Yes i know there are going to be those who say that the PS4 is still the technically superior machine. well yes it is, there is no denying it. Its there in black and white for all to read. Faster RAM,GPU and an altogether sleeker package included rechargeable controllers. (the xbox dwarfs it HxWxD its huge side by side saying that its no bigger than my old Sony VCR)But what you can't take away from Microsoft now they finally gotten the UI sorted is that its just that much a better Multimedia machine, there is even an official remote available for video playing duties.Yes the games don't look quite as good as on the PS4 but hey we're talking such little difference that its not really going to be bothering you and if you were that bothered you should be buying a Gaming PC with the latest GPU not a console for putting under the TV in the living room.If your still trying to choose between PS4 or XBONE all i can recommend is answer yourself two simple questions and they will lead you to your console of choice.1. do you want to do more than game with it ?2. do you have any franchise games that you want that are exclusive to a console. examples forza & Halo = XBONE, Killzone and Infamous = PS4and if you still can't decide toss a coin now and get the other one in 18 months when they've dropped another £80.

I've been wanting to buy an Xbox One since release, but found it hard to justify considering I'd just brought a PS4 and most games I wanted were multi-platform.The prospect of Halo pushed me over the edge and when this Sunset Overdrive bundle became available for pre-order I was all set. This really is a great bundle, and I'll focus on Sunset Overdrive first. Probably one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a while. It's over the top, has a great art style and is genuinely funny. You can tell the developers had a ball with this one, everything ties together so well. The game mechanics are solid and grinding, flipping and wall-running across the City become second nature. One of the very best games to be released for this generation so far without a doubt.Next the console itself. The Xbox One is a big machine no matter how you cut it, but it's a clean and inoffensive design which looks all the more daring in white. The controller is phenomenal though. It's just so comfortable to hold, the ergonomics are second to none. Vibrating bumper buttons is a nice touch as well. The effect is subtle but appreciated.Other novelties:-I've gotten ahold of a Kinect too which is good if only for the novelty of being able to say "Xbox ON" and having my whole setup power on. Not necessary though.-HDMI in- I connected my PS4 and it worked surprisingly well. My inputs in Assassins Creed Black Flag weren't quite as sharp but I could still play the game without issues.Downsides? The menus are a bit awkward to navigate, especially when compared to the simple but effective PS4 setup. Also I'm a little confused as to why the power brick had to be external. The console is fairly large, surely it could have been engineered in.

OK so it's a long time since I purchased a games console ( I had an original Xbox & I have a WII) but the world has really moved on since then.Being the Forza special edition, the Xbox itself looks great - it even has car related sound effects when you switch on / off & load a disk - OK a gimmick, but something my kids will love. The unit was very easy to set up out of the box & after a few inputs it was up & running. Then the disappointment started - what I hadn't realized was that you have to download the Forza game over the internet. Where I live we have very slow broadband so the download took an eternity. Then when it had finished, I loaded the game only to get a message that there was an update available!Quite why the update isn't included in the original download is beyond me - lazy coding I suspect!Manufacturers need to understand that not everyone in the world lives in a place where there is super fast internet connectivity - I would even have paid a little more for disk to be included in the box. This is a Christmas present - if I had not have opened up the box to test it first, I would have had some very disappointed kids on Christmas morning watching a download for hours on end! However, once all the downloads had finished Forza 6 itself (bearing in mind I've only played for a couple of hours) has proved worth the wait - it is a work of art. The graphics & the cars are phenomenal & to top it all James May & Richard Hammond (ex-Top Gear presenters) have popped up with reviews of some of the cars. I just need to earn enough points to get myself a drive around the Top Gear Test Track - sad but true!I'll be back after Christmas to tell you what the kids think of it ....
