First thing PC owners need to deal with is that the PC version for reasons best known to Konami has not been given the graphical eye candy of the PS4 version. When I heard of this, I immediately decided that I was going to refuse to buy Pro Evo 2015 on these grounds and foolishly forked out 50 GBP for FIFA 15, which as any discerning punter will be aware, is 100% unadulterated scripted trashy garbage. Therefore, having grown both agitated and bored with FIFA 15, I decided it wouldn't harm to give PES 2015 a go.Regardless of whatever ways that the PC version may or may not fall short of the new gen console versions, PES 2015 is the best video football game available on the PC.The gameplay is smooth and responsive and the AI in this game is genuinely excellent. The end product is a thoroughly enjoyable and highly addictive footie sim, where the gamer is capable of pulling of some cracking hand crafted moves and goals. I should also give a mention to the manual play function, whereby holding the LT gamepad button, disengages the AI assisted passing shooting system, and gives the game much fuller control over the direction and power of the various passing (and shooting) methods, which once mastered, can serve to add whole new dimensions to the build up play. With PES 2015, we have a footie game that offers depth, and requires both strategic thinking and fast reactions both in it's attacking play and also in the defending aspect of the game, where success depends upon a blend of strategic covering play and some well timed smashes of the slide tackle button(s). This is in stark contrast to defending in FIFA 15, where the gamer is essentially relying on the AI to position his nerfed defenders in a beneficial enough manner to not allow the opposition über-attackers to waltz through. As for the online game, I realised prior to buying PES 2015 that there were a lot of complaints regarding the online functionality. With Konami's horrendous track record of providing online gameplay in the Pro Evo games of recent years, I have been very pleasantly surprised by my online experiences so far which I have found to be smooth as butter. With PES 2015, Konami have finally really hit the nail right on it's head and managed to get their game just so so right. FIFA 15 is so far behind where it matters (i.e. gameplay), that it isn't even funny......especially for those who forked out a usurious £50 on FIFA 15 in the mistaken belief that PES 2015 was (probably) going to be another let down. Now that I have PES 2015, I doubt I will ever play FIFA 15 again and due to the DRM involved with PC games, there is no way I can even get a few pennies back by selling FIFA 15 on. This just makes me feel all the more more sour about FIFA 15 and EA (£50 Ouch!). Hopefully Konami can continue to deliver like this for years to come and I won't be tempted to touch EA's cheesey naff scripted n00b footie game ever again.Update: 27/11/2014Having had a good few dozen games under my belt, and more specifically, extensive time playing the game online, I should report that the top players in this game are seriously over-powered and basically break the game. How ridiculous players such as C.Ronaldo, or Ibrahimovic are, can be best seen when playing online with poor connectivity because under such situations with major input lag, the flow of the game is mostly decided by the AI, and the AI just loves it's superstar strikers. If one online gamer chooses Real Madrid and another chooses basically any other lesser team, the gamer with Real Madrid can win everytime providing he plays enough long through balls up to Ronaldo, because the AI will ensure the Ronaldo runs onto these balls resulting in 1-1 situations aplenty and there is next to nothing that the defending team can do about it. It really is that bad. However, my initial glowing review of the game in terms of the excellent core gameplay still stands.....but only if their is a 'gentleman's agreement' in place to avoid the 'cheat' teams. So that means playing offline versus friends or the CPU, or in Online Friendly Mode only. Since Konami have made it impossible to limit the strength of the teams that opponents can choose in the competitive mode, online (competitive) PES 2015 is a stat abuse fest worse even than FIFA 15, and that is saying something.

Let me start off by saying that PES 2015 is a good game, the passing and build up play is the best of any football game on next gen thus far - ditto the AI. Player ID is something FIFA will no doubt copy off PES in the near future as it brings freshness to each match. However, I can't understand people giving it 5* as that would mean it was as perfect as a game can be, which isn't the case at all. That is why you will see more focus more on the negatives rather than the positives in my review. The menus even offline are laggy, the presentation poor and the graphics to be frank are barely better then PS2 standard bar some of the fantastic famous player faces - but these are far and few between.I'm genuinely quite stunned seeing some reviewers below giving it 9/10 for graphics? Konami are selling this is a next gen game, something it currently doesn't offer to justify the tag.In terms of gameplay passing is still frustrating at times despite being PES biggest pro, for example, in tight spaces with several players in close proximity I'd find my player passing to the man on the right when I was pointing top right. Another frustrating issue I had was winning a tackle and seeing the ball bounce back to the opposition more often than not. Ironically 2 of my biggest gripes with FIFA 15. Furthermore, as much as I love the speed of the game, seeing Mertesacker catch up with Sterling is still something which baffles me - a problem which has affected many a football game.Keepers are nothing special they just rarely, if ever, make stupid mistakes. I suppose after years of having woeful keepers in football games credit has to be given to actually make them worth something to the team. It's a relief to actually see a commanding keeper when a corner is being taken. One thing I noiced though is that it might just be me, but whenever the AI took a shot inside my box it was a goal 9 times out of 10. One on ones are never clear cut, but with the AI it seemed they were at times - like you were facing Aguero each time.So to round it off PES is a good game, but as I said in the title it is perhaps being seen as better than it actually is due to gamers boredom/frustration with the shambles of a game that is FIFA 15. The best thing about this PES for me is that EA will have to produce a complete game next year or by the time PES 2016 (which should be a 5/5 if they fix what needs fixing) is released they will well and truly be top dogs again - for me they are already, I tried playing FIFA 15 again after this review and couldn't stand it!*For me a perfect grade would be a 3.5 but as I can't choose that and a 3 would be harsh a 4 will suffice.*

This is an example of first impressions being wrong.I have wanted for years to return to PES from Fifa but reviews had always showed FIfa as the players choice. however this year the reviews were even so i made the decision to try it over Fifa.On first loading i felt like i had made a terrible mistake, as is the norm, it suggests you update the data pack to get latest patches etc which is fine..until you find out you have the option of downloading this via peer to peer connection...random. Basically whether you downloaded the update via peer to peer or http it was a terribly painful process that took forever!this made the game feel like a low budget experience.I then started a friendly match to get the feel for it and was struck by how bad the crowd animation was. However once i got over this initial blip i noticed fairly quickly how fluid the controls felt and how the responses of the players were really accurate. The computer players seemed to make genuinely clever decisions without ending up in a god-mode for the last 10 mins of the match. In addition the commentary seemed really solid, intelligent and not that repetitive compared to Fifa. The Master League is great fun with the prospect of country management thrown in as a longer term carrot.I hear the myclub online thingy is a bit pants but i have not tried this after my experience of there servers just to download a data update, however i am more than happy with the offline elements available and this seems like a really solid game with lots of depth in the player mechanics and AI.Like other Pro Evo games it does quite encourage the lofted through ball route but this is more realistically handled than in previous editions.

Fantastic game play! Best version of Pro-Evo on PS3 by far, and completely wiped any thoughts that maybe I should defect to FIFA after last year's disaster! Fluid gameplay, responsive controls, back to basics but still with the skill moves if you want to learn those. Feels like a proper football game rather than just a computer game (which is why I'm not keen on FIFA). Off the ball player positioning is vastly improved and they seem to have got the right balance between attack and defence. Brilliant tactical options which work really well too.Refs a bit harsh, though overall if anything goes disastrously wrong it's usually my own fault, rather than me swearing at the defence that randomly parted like the red sea as in previous versions.Graphics good enough (not sure what the top standard is these days), improved music sound track (no cheesy euro-pop) though these will get switched off after the same songs get too repetitive. Commentary awful as usual, though this is always the first thing that goes off anyway in favour of my own music or radio. Improved (but not perfect) menus too. Had our first multiplayer session last night with four of us and that seemed to run just as well as single player. Yet to try online. Still dodgy team and player names too, but who cares? You can download save files for official names, but it's all about the actual game play anyway which is ace!

Pro evo is back, really back. I've been a gamer since the zx spectrum and atari days back in the very early 80's and this is the footie game I've longed for, ever since pes 6, which in my opinion was the last great pes game, which at the time was fantastic. Ive hammered fifa 14 and 15 and love the presentation, crowds, glitz and glam as much as everyone else, but I'm over 11 years old now and want more from my football games than arcade style 5-4 ping pong matches that leave me unfulfilled and the feeling of an anti climax. Once you see past the poor menus, team names and poor commentary what you get is a proper football match gaming experience. You have to be tactically aware, play to your teams strengths and be aware of the opponents team's players who can do you damage, especially online. Passing must be accurate or you will regularly give the ball away, unlike fifa. All in all I'm delighted, I turned my back on the franchise some time ago and went to fifa, but now I have pes 15 I'm itching to play it when ever I get chance, unlike fifa which I never really made a great effort to play regular as it bored me to be honest. My 8 year old thinks pes is too difficult and hates the kits, team names and stadiums, played a few games and resorted back to fifa. I think that says it all........

Those of us playing Pes on the PS2 or original xbox when it was far superior to FIFA in terms of game play, and seen the series go from bad to worse from around PES 2006 onwards as the developers failed to get to grips with the then next gen consoles(PS3 and Xbox 360) would have found it hard to believe at the time that it would take until 2014 and another generation of consoles before the PES developers would produce a decent game to rival FIFA. But after many false dawns they have done it. I haven't played it long enough to go deep into all the elements and have only played it offline for about 3 hours(Manager Mode mainly), but the game play is slick and fluid, the stadium atmosphere is terrific and the graphics are excellent. Others will comment on the many other elements that contribute to a good football game, but whether your a FIFA fan or PES fan or both, it can only be good news for all of us to have two strong titles pushing each other out of complacency. FIFA for me this year added very little to the 2014 game to warrant the price new games cost

For those of you who can remember the last great PES game which was 10 years ago (Pro Evo Soccer 5 on the original Xbox Console) this game will seem like a god send. Ever since Pro Evo 5 PES quality has declined for the most part year on year whilst FIFA has just got better and better..................UNTIL NOW. For any Pro Evo fans still around this is THE game you have been waiting for. The graphics, sound and most importantly the playability is all here. Add to the the great Competitions such as Champions League, Europa League, Europa Super Cup etc and you have a brilliant footie game. It certainly is great to have PES back in the limelight after so long away. The only couple of negatives I have with the game (as with all previous ones) are not having the official kits and team names (unlike Fifa) and Commentator John Champion's monotone voice. Give me Martin Tyler or Clive Tyldesley any day. However these or are only small and once you start playing you will soon forget. I am up to 10 hours and counting. Welcome back PES. 5 Stars!!!!

As the title suggests, PES is well and truly back! I am also one of those who moved to FIFA a couple of years back, after the disappointment of previous PES games (the last couple of years at least) however, PES 2015 really is a return to the top for this game!FIFA just feels too, how can I put it, artificial...If that even makes sense, but if you play an EA sports game such as the NHL or NFL, you will see what I mean.PES 2015 is incredible, some of the matches so far have been superb, from being totally dominated by an opponent, to switching formation and getting back into the game... From those tight 1-0 victories (or losses!) to the dominating 3-0 scorelines,it's a 5 star review from me!

After reading the review above mine,I looked this game up on wiki and it gets a five star straight away for including the championship this time round which has 24 teams as I was using other english teams before for league championship but I could only choose 18 or 20 teams before but now I'm even happier that it will have the full 24.I love editing the teams myself and can't wait to get stuck into it when the game comes ....I normally spend a week to ten days editing and its worth it in my opinion as PES is far better than FIFA for gameplay just a shame they can't have the licensingWell done Konami *****

Only played a handful of matches offline so far but loving it. The pacing of the game allows time to think and the players around you controlled by the AI seem to make sensible runs into space when you are in possession of the ball. I played PES 2014 on the PC and this feels much better to play. Through balls and corners seem more effective.Yes the graphics are OK but not mind-blowing and the lack of licences for some players will mean they don't want to play this game, which is a shame as it plays a good game of football.I've yet to venture online, so I won't pass judgement on that aspect of the game.

15.11.2014

Pro Evolution Soccer is back to its best.Plays superbly and will rival Fifa 15 this year.Championship teams are now included (well if you use edit anyway)I know not having all the licenced teams is a bit of a pain but with a bit of time editing you can get over this.As far as the game play is concerned it is a joy. It plays much more realistically than Fifa.Grab a copy now as you won't regret it.You will want to download the day 1 data pack though, so make sure you have internet if you want all the correct transfers and faces.Graphics 5, playability 5.5 stars overall.

when i play a video game the thing that matters to me is realistic gameplay and this delivers. realistic player stamina,no scripted last min cpu goals, added time not always 5 mins yes fifa im talkin to u!i dont need jeff stelling introducing the match nor do i need full authentic kits or 5-4 online matches. this is a proper footy game where tactics matter, sprinting n fatigue matter and not all players are supermen doin fancy rainbow tricks. if u love realism and nail biting action its a no brainer pes is back and my goodness its a beauty!!!

Having moved to FIFA about 4/5 years ago I am delighted to be moving back to pes. FIFA's unmatchable licenses /glitz/ aesthetic appeal has finally crumbled as once again the gameplay of pes wins over everything. If you like to play with the ball at your feet, are fed up with the scripted ultimate team arcade nonsense and feel like something in your soul is missing get PES. I could go on but please just get it and, like me, you will be wondering why on earth you didn't get it sooner !

5.12.2014

PES is back. Absolutly fantastic football/soccer sim, great pacing, passing fluid/crisp, & the power bar does its job. Every goal feels unique, from the 30 yard pop shot, to the intelligently worked 2 yard tap in. Defending is up too YOU bring your CB out of position expect to be punished. Champions League simulation excellent as always. No Premiership licenses always a ballache, but maybe that could be PES' next big obstacle to overcome. 5/5

22.11.2014

Fun and fluid. Konami have fixed pretty much everything that was wrong with last years efforts. The thing that impresses me is if I lose a game I'm not blaming the game, I'm blaming myself. And I'm not getting good results on the top difficulty level, its dead hard. Defenders hurry you and cover the space, and you will struggle to do this in front of your own goal. This will keep me playing the whole season and beyond
