The assassins creed revelations collectors edition is a must have for a strong assassins creed fan, inside the box you get the games 'original' soundtrack which is more of a best of album, an art book, a single player mission which will not only add to the games enjoyment, but give you one of the most powerful swords in the game, and a short animated movie to bring even more closure to ezio's story, 2 extra multiplayer characters and of course, the game itself.the game starts with an introductory cutscene basically to give a new player a low down on Desmond's(the modern day character) story. then their is a short cutscene showing Desmond conversing with clay kaczmarec, or to put it bluntly, subject 16. after a bit of conversation between the two, you delve into the memories of Ezio auditore, now mentor of the italian assassins, about to be hung by a Byzantine templar captain. ezio then escapes and has to follow a ghost of altair, the main protagonist of the original AC game. once you reach the top of the old fortress, you take a leap of faith into the bowels of the fortress were you get to take out a few guards. then you speak to a worker were you go through a tailing mission which leads you into a carraige chase where you have to try and destroy enemy carraiges. when you complete this, you have to go through another village while injured and reach the templar captain so you can kill him and take niccolo polos journal. the sequence then ends and pulls you back to the animus island.the game features several new weapons and a change of scenery. the hookblade speeds up travel in the city of constantinople. you also are given the materials to craft your own bombs, about 120 in all, so you can use distractions to get close to your target, so you can move in for the kill. so, now you've done the deed, you are surrounded by guards but you don't want fight, perform a hook and run with the hookblade and throw down a caltrop bomb, leaving your pursuers in the dust and giving you time to hide. there are several other bomb types including tripwire poison bombs and even stink bombs to ward guards away from that city official you want to deal with. apprentices make their return with the max rank now at level 15, which means they can be installed as den masters, to stop templar attackers wanting to retrieve their den. this is well worth doing as it can get tedious going back and forth between dens and performing the tower defence mode. with the upgraded eagle sence you can forsee guard paths and set an ambush.also, there are six missions in the game which let you play as altair throughout his life. also collecting data fragments unlock puzzle mission on the island, which provide a bit more information about desmonds life. completing each one gets you an achievement and completing them all will grant you access to desmonds skin to use while playing as ezioas ever, the game has secret locations, however this time they are relatively easy as they are key to the story. to get the unbreakable armour, you have to find 10 memoir pages found around the city which lead you to a secret location.overall the game is the best in the series, with an enjoyable story and gripping gameplay which will have you hooked to the game for a long time, the perfect package for an assassins creed fan

Another year and another instalment of the assassin's creed series. First off I'd like to point out that although this annual release of game series is great for those of us left salivating for more, it does seem to be putting strain on the creators of this and other games released annually. That said this is still yet another strong addition to the series and although it doesn't answer all the question you may have, it does answer some such as whatever happened to Altair (he's dead btw, not a spoiler he was something like 300 years before Ezio) after the events of the original game. Unfortunately there is another cliff hanger ending albeit not as dramatic as the last one,and there are some more questions now to be answered.Assassin's creed revelations doesn't really stray too far from the now well established formula of the previous games, and to me this is a good thing, and although some may disagree I'd like to point out that this tried and tested formula is the reason I didn't hesitate to rejoin Desmond, Ezio, and Altair for their next instalment, and probably the reason most fans will return. With that said reviewing the core of the game really becomes redundant, if you've played the series before you'll know what the expect. If you haven't then I strongly suggest you start from the beginning as I believe the strength of the Assassin's creed series comes from it's plot and characters. However one criticism of this game is that it does seem to be shorter than the others, although admittedly I did avoid most of the side missions in favour of the main story but still managed to complete the game in near enough one full day.The Side missions are a bit of a let down in my opinion. They have taken the den control aspect from brotherhood and without really changing it except by maybe making it slightly harder. (going in across rooftops means you get instantly spotted!) But as a result of attacking the templars you then get templar notoriety which if at maximum means the templars will then attack your dens requiring you to trigger a new mini game which sees you ordering other assassin's across rooftops to defend a street. This mini game is awful and really can become frustrating as all the templars do is at the end wheel in a heavily defended piece of siege equipment, smash all of your barricades in two hits then level your den while you watch unable to do anything about it. However as horrible as this side mission is it doesn't detract from the game itself as it is optional and doesn't effect the main game although it will have an impact of the mini game of sending your fellow assassins around the world on missions.Multiplayer makes a welcome return for me as I did enjoy the multiplayer introduced in brotherhood when you could eventually get on a server, and those who know what I'm talking about will be pleased to know that so far I have yet to encounter any issues with getting a game so far. It is pretty much the same formula but with a few news perks and levels to play around with. All in all a good game but with just a few small issues. and unfortunately a fond farewell to the characters Altair and Ezio we have learned so much about, now we're stuck with Desmond!

I have played AC1, AC2 and AC:B. when i played AC:B i thought it was a bit bare, when i played AC2 i thought it was brill, then Brotherhood came along and i thought that was even better, but brotherhood couldn't prepare me for the amount of stuff that u can do in Assassins Creed Revelations. The way you can craft the bombs is absolutely amazing, and the way they are split down into 3 different categories (lethal, Tactical and Diversion) and can hold 3 bombs of each type is brill. The Hookblade is a very good addition cause u can run over guards, sweep them of their feet, use ziplines to get around the city (elevation dependant),extend you reach when u jump from one rooftop to the other and use lanterns to instead of going round the corner use it to do a long jump in from of you. The assassins den defence mini-game is very good, but a bit of a pain cause u can be building up your defence and then comes along a siege machine that the Byzantines have brought along with them. The most recent one that has defeated my Assassin den in the North Imperial District of Constantinople is the Byzantine Greek Fire Siege Machine, which broke through all my barriers like they were matchsticks (literally) even though I had upgraded them fully. I like the way they have also changed weapons into primary and secondary. Primary weapons are all your melee weapons (Hidden/Hookblade, sword, dagger and poison blade) and are assigned to X on the controller. Secondary weapons are all of your ranged weapons (Bombs, Hidden Gun, Throwing Knives and Poison Darts) and are assigned to Y on the controller. The one problem I have with this game is that the actions that were assigned to Y are now assigned to Ls (Left Stick Click). The add-on that u get with this edition the "Vlad the Impaler" mission is a dungeon that you have to get through to get Vald the impalers blade which looks awesome and to achieve 100% synchronisation is by completing it in 7 minutes, which I managed to do the first time I did the dungeon. I haven't really played the multiplayer yet, but the crusader extra character is brill from me playing as him on the introductory sessions. The Short Film that you get with this, called "Assassins Creed Embers" is brill and I'm just going to leave it there because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. The soundtrack that you get with it is good from what little I have listened to it because I don't really listen to soundtracks of games and films. Then the art book that you get with this edition is very good and I just love concept art. Then the box that you get is also good, but I can see it possible breaking due to the simple mechanism it uses. So overall Assassins Creed Revelations is brill just it will take a while to get used to the new controls cause I have been up to a few viewpoints and used ranged weapons instead of synchronising the maps with the viewpoint.

The Assassin's Creed series is one of the most in depth and well-executed game series around. Assassin's Creed Revelations brings in the originality of the first game, the excitement and expansion of the second and the improved fighting methods of Brotherhood as well as introducing new and fun things to do. A new environment in Constantinople is brilliant and the graphics are once again nothing far from breathtaking. The story is still as intriguing and fun as ever and with the return of the ability to play as Altair (while seeing how his life progressed after you played as him in the first game), new and interesting characters and varying missions you shouldn't get bored; there's a lot to keep you entertained so you don't rush through the story.New elements such as the hookblade and bomb customisation are a nice addition as zip-lining across the city never gets old and distracting guards with bombs is a useful tool. The ability to call upon, upgrade and send your fellow Assassins on missions, which was introduced in Brotherhood, is improved and more engaging than last time. The only drawback to me is "Den Defense" whereby you defend your dens from templar take over, which can be fun, but when you want to get on with other things and nearly every one of your dens is under threat it can be a little annoying. This is a fairly minor drawback though and if you are successful in defending (which can be quite hard to do at first) there is a certain nice feeling of accomplishment when you do. ~ 10/10Collector's Edition features:Packaging: 10/10 ~ a really nice design that gives you joy in revealing the contentsArtbook: 8/10 ~ fairly small but a nice extra with some nice artwork and infoSoundtrack: 7/10 ~ definitely brings back memories of the previous games, there is a combination of some good tracks; "Ezio's Family" is a personal favourite and some which are fairly medioca and nothing special (NOTE: There is no music from Revelations on the CD, which is a shame).Embers: 9/10 ~ A nice short animated film to round off Ezio's story. Well made and the animated presentation is amazing (watch once you've completed the game's story to enjoy it the way the creators intended)

So far I love the game. Compared to the last 2, there isn't much difference in terms of game play, but in a way that is a good thing. The strength of the game lies with the characters and the storyline. The addition of the hook blade and the bombs makes fighting a hell of a lot more fun and less tedious. Constantinople?? Instead of Italy? Awesome. The side quests of finding the Masayaf keys is exactly the same as the last couple of games, AC2 > assassins tombs, ACB > Lair of Romulus, although I have to say, the side quest of when you fall through a tower and through the ground to reveal a gigantic chasm underground left me speechless, so much so I replayed it 3 times afterwards,so no complaints there. The only thing I feel I need to complain about is the defence of the assassin dens. While the idea itself is new and interesting, the whole concept is a pain. My way of playing is going in kicking ass by myself and saving the day, but sitting on roof tops doing jack and commanding assassins to fire nothing but arrows and guns to stop wave after wave of soldiers and in the end a huge contraption that knocks down your defences anyway? Poor. Frustrated me to no bitter end. So in the end, I gave up and spent a large amount of time trying to avoid being in the full notoriety (which is the only time Templars can attack your dens) and it takes a lot of time as you no longer have posters. Only a handful of heralds and very rarely do you get an official to kill. The whole notoriety thing I could deal with if it wasn't backed up by the fact if you buy a shop your notoriety goes up by 1/4. While I can appreciate they've got to do something new, the whole past paragraph really does but a downer on the game. Sorry guys. Let down. But in general, so far, the game is excellent, well worth the money and I bought the collector's edition, and I have to say, I'm a geek, and the box is awesome! If you are a fan of the AC collection, it is worth it, if you're the type to really get into the game and don't have your expectation so high for something different. BUY THE GAME.

Here it is. Ezio's final chapter. I ordered the collectors edition of this game, and specifically faked an illness to get a day off school. I received it on Monday 14th November due to pre order. After having had this game for nearly a month and a half, I have almost 100% sync, (those who play the Assassin's Creed franchise will know what I mean) and I have prestiged on multiplayer. I therefore feel I have enough knowledge on this game to review it.Packaging:The box is nice with a clever seal. It also contains the audio soundtrack, which only has a few nice songs on it. The artbook is a bit pointless and only contains very few pictures. The in game features also included for multiplayer and single player however do not make the game worth £50.Story Mode:The story, in this game is much like Brotherhood, lacking a general plot. The new addition of combat moves for Ezio to perform against Byzantines has greatly enhanced the overall violence and gore of that of Brotherhood. The addition of new weapons, such as the Ottoman Hookblade, has also increased the speed in which one moves through the alleyways of Constantinople. However, there is a problem with this speed, Ezio has now become quite old, and has made this unrealistic (not that the whole idea of an Italian bloke swinging around like a medieval Spiderman) The graphics has not been improved hugely from Brotherhood but they are slowly getting better. Story mode, 4/5.Multiplayer:Hugely improved from Brotherhood. Graphics are better, characters are better, and there is also now a story. There is not much more i could say about multiplayer, it is fantastic, much better than brotherhood. It does however, much like Call of Duty Multiplayer, become rather tedious after repeating the same things over and over again. Multiplayer 4/5.However, after covering the two points, I still believe Brotherhood is better if I were to review Brotherhood, iit would be 5/5 for story and 4/5 for multiplayer.Don't get me wrong, this game is yet another fantastic edition to the Assassin's Creed franchise.

So I preordered this as I have become an AC fan after AC 2 and Brotherhood with the latter really gripping me. I had massive expectations as I had with Brotherhood and that certainly didn't disappoint and I expected Revelatiions to be just as brilliant as I always feel safe on the knowledge that Ubisoft will keep the story going strong which they have done to a degree. To me it just doesn't feel right, your band of assassins wear yellow and green cloaks and look more like mercenary's whilst neither Ezio or Altair look like I imagined when older and master Assasin Ezio has traded his Assassin white cloak for grey,it just doesn't feel right...The story is nowhere near to the standard of Brotherhood although Brotherhood is one of the best games I've ever played and the Revelations story is still very good, with my highlights being Sequence 7 in the underworld; Ezio walking around with a guitar singing songs to distract guards and then breaking his guitar in two and making an assassination with it; the first few Altair memories especially where his wife die are spine-tingling (even if Altair doesnt have his badass voice from AC1) and quite sad. The story takes too long to get going however and even near the end their are missions like going picking flowers for Sofia. The ending for Ezio isn't what I had imagined and hoped for and it definitely doesn't answer all the answers as the trailer's said, leaving another massive cutscenes that leaves you going "What the f***?".Being a master Assasin is a nice perk when you call your assassins and they how down to you, however aqquiring enough assassins is hard as Templar dens are annoyingly difficult and online has been improved and is a surprising highlight for me after playing my first 5 or so games last night and thoroughly enjoying it.I worry for Assassins Creed 3 and wheather it can give us the ending we long for, however it is not looking likely with Desmond's story dragging on and the fact that Ezio and his charisma won't feature at all...

If you like the previous Assassin's Creed games you will also like this one.It is however set in Constantinople (now Istanbul I believe) which is quite different to Assassin's Creed 2 (Florence, Venice) and Brotherhood (Rome). It references back to the first Assassin's Creed game featuring Altaïr as a playable character in some missions.>> ** ASSASSIN'S CREED 1 DOES NOT COME WITH THIS GAME (XBOX 360) **.Only the PS3 edition does, which was extremely annoying, but I have the first one anyway (also via Amazon). The game itself is very good and the addition of the Hook Blade is very useful. At first I was not one for it but comes in handy many times. Old Ezio is an interesting character as well. This Edition come with the game,an Art Book solely on Revelations artwork, a short Anime film titled "Embers" (disc is in a sleeve [?]), soundtrack from previous games including "Ezio's Family" from Assassin's Creed 2 (the disc is included in the DVD, not an additional sleeve as some photos may suggest), and a Collector's Box which opens in an unique way (love it). In addition are codes for the Single player mission (Vlad the Impaler), which is ok and not very long, too dark for my TV, but what you get at the end is worth it ;). I have not had a chance to use the Multiplayer characters (The Crusader, and Ottoman Jester).Overall this is an amazing game, and lives up to its predecessors, but my favourite will always be Assassin's Creed 2, but that is my opinion as I love Florence and Venice.[Xbox 360: players: 1; 5 MB to save game; HDTV 720p/1080i/1080p; in-game Dolby® Digital; online multiplayer 4-8; game-content download; leaderboards; voice]

This game ends the Ezio trilogy, where you travel to Constantinople in search for keys that will ultimately open the Great Library in Masyaf. The story is great and intriguing as usual, and the action and the way you glide through the city is always fun and inventive. It may not be as good as Assassins Creed 2, but is definitely an improvement from the slightly underwhelming Assassins Creed Brotherhood. It is also nice to play as Altair and being able to use a hookblade is very useful and is another way to travel around the city fast. I also loved the music although the music is second to none in all of the games - well done Jesper Kyd.Unlike a lot of people I didn't enjoy the multiplayer that much as this was very repetitive and boring, whereas the actual game is fast-paced and enjoyable. I didn't enjoy having to recapture towers all the time either - and it is all the time, as there is always a tower being 'contested' whereas there are much more important things to be doing - say, the actual story. The simple solution to this is just to ignore it - it hardly affects anything. Although I like the hookblade, the game seems to be less and less about making the most with what you've got...and succeeding, but more about 'look as I throw a bomb that will annialate all guards' and that's it. There also seems too much choice of bombs, and I actually decided not to bother making any and stuck to using my sword like the good ol' days. At least you can choose, which ultimately means you can pretty much accomplish the game in anyway you like which is good. Therefore, buy this game. It's a nice ending as a game for Ezio.

Prior to playing this game, I had only played Assassins Creed 2, I have not played either the first one or brotherhood.I have to say I am really enjoying playing the game, I have lost hours and hours to it.... time just seems to disappear when I start playing it. There is so much to do and I like the freedom it gives you to do side missions and explore on your own, you are not forced into the storyline and as a result it doesn't feel as scripted and forced as a lot of single player games do.Having said that, I do feel slightly disappointed by the game, as it is very samey when compared to Assassins Creed 2. I actually think it is an easier game as well, not quite as challenging.Sure there are a few additions, like the hook blade and the bombs but it is so samey I almost feel I'm replaying the old game - and while I am enjoying it for all the same reasons I enjoyed it in the first place... I have paid an extra £40 for something new. I can really understand why other fans are upset with the game because I have only played 1 out of the other 3 games, and I am already feeling the similarites are too much. The other thing is, and I felt the same with assassins creed 2, is that I don't get the point of the animus. It seems to me to be a very weak framing device, and it is so annoying when you get pulled out of the main part of the game and faced with Desmond. It doesn't add anything to the game and the parts with Desmond in it are totally lame. Why not just set it in the past and be done with it. Have a new character and, new storyline, and a new setting for every game...

Here is my strategy of playing yearly games - I play a good one, skip one or two, catch up on the story, on to the next. This is one of the big reasons why:a. I don't complain of boredom and recyclingb. I don't waste money on buying the same thingc. I appreciate the game for what it actually offers and don't base my review on what happened in the previous games that was better.I didn't play Brotherhood, for the record. I played Assassin's Creed Bloodlines on the PSP, thought it was mediocre, and then went on to play Assassin's Creed II which blew me away. I resisted the temptation of buying Brotherhood despite low price, and I have now just played Revelations. My God...what a great ending. The game play is fantastic and it is visually stunning. A great break from Italy - I felt like I was transported to centuries old Constantinople. The mechanics and new weapons, alongside the new and improved combat system makes this game a blast to play. Jesper Kyd's awesome soundtrack does a fantastic job in improving the experience overall. I did see some repetition from Assassin's Creed II, but I felt the same emotion while playing this game that I did back when I witnessed the injustice done to Ezio's family. My only issue with this game is the slight change in controls which can make it, sometimes, harder to fight. But that's not a problem. I also found that in some cases, the story went a little off-track. I can forgive Ubisoft for that. I do not regret the money I spent on this game. And the special edition I bought with the soundtrack CD makes me one happy woman.

I have been an AC lover since game 1. The subplot of this game returns to Altair's time and follows him until his death. Nice addition to play Altair as an old man. Ezio, the current game's protagonist, is wrapping up his own life as an assassin and trying to solve the mystery of the apple. I enjoyed Ezio's new love interest, Sophia, and his role as Mentor to new assassins (same as Brotherhood). I have to agree with other reviewers in that the upgrades left much to be desired. The only reason I gave this game 4 starts instead of 5 is this did indeed feel like another Brotherhood. 2 of the main upgrades, bomb making and den defense, could have been better. I liked using bombs, but most of the time forgot I had them. There weren't enough situation presented to really get me to the point where using bombs was as tactical as throwing knives or using my sword. I hated the den defense. Honestly, I preferred to let the Byzantines win and later simply kill there captain. It was much easier. The den defense was kind of annoying. The best upgrade to the game was the use of a hookblade. I used it everywhere. I loved zipline assassinations and it made climbing so much easier and quicker.Overall, this is a great game. I was simply disappointed with the upgrades and I feel the game did not reach its full potential. I just expected more. However, my disappointment did not prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this game. I will continue to play the series and already can't wait until the next edition with a new protagonist!

The Game ~ the game is incredible, worthy of game of the year. It's fun, interesting and has lots to do. The hookblade is a welcome addition, making climbing easier and giving the player more ways to kill people. I didn't like the Den Defence; I thought it was really hard and unnecessary, however it is easily avoidable. I haven't played multiplayer yet, but I've heard good things about it, and the additional two characters in the collector's edition is a bonus.Graphics - 9/10Music - 10/10Story - 10/10Overall - 10/10Embers ~ this is an animated short film that portrays Ezio as a much older man; I won't spoil it, but it is brilliantly made.Soundtrack ~ I was a bit disappointed with this.I was under the impression that it was the 'Original Game Soundtrack' as Amazon have put it. But it was just a Best of CD with about 12 tracks which I already have. It doesn't come in a separate case; just in the game case, so I was a bit disappointed with that. However don't be put off; it's still an excellent soundtrack with music from the first game included.Artbook ~ a bit small, but still a very nice addition to this bundle. The artwork is of the landscapes of Constantinople, character concepts and the multiplayer characters.Vlad the Impaler added level ~ very fun, a good mission and you get another weapon at the end of it.Overall I think this is a good bargain for fans of Assassin's Creed :)

Unfortunately it probably was rushed. Perhaps you are familiar with Skyrim. Well it's predecessor, oblivion was released about 8 years ago (2004) whereas Ubisoft pump out a new game for Assassins creed nearly every year. Maybe it's forgivable then, maybe not.I really enjoyed and am still enjoying, revelations after about a month of ownership and can't wait for Assassin's creed III (due this coming october). I thought that Assassin's creed revelations was particuarly short for an Assassin's creed game but that's the thing; It's not supposed to be a full game, it's an installment like Brotherhood. It needs to be appreciated for what it is.While I doubt this will change your opinion of the product I personally think the fact that Ubisoft can create even a short game this well in so little time is great (unlike their DRM).I would have given this game a 4 star review because of it's length and other small reasons but when my mouse rolled over the star selector I could not bring myself to click 4.I took (WARNING: TACKIE GAME REFERENCE IMINENT) a Leap of Faith :) when I purchased this game as I had not EVER played another Assassin's creed game or installment and I was very pleased with the results. Now I'm (WARNING: TACKIE GAME REFERENCE IMINENT) Hooked on Assassin's creed Revelations and write this between gameplay sessions.Anyway, got to go Revelations calls! :)

I've played all of the AC games and not one of them has been a disappointment. With Revelations it is more of the same, which is a comfort as the previous game titles have stuck to a well known formula, which works. The city of Constantinople and the exquisite attention to detail both in the landscape and colours that are vibrant throughout the game, as well as the highly detailed clothing, makes for a beautiful living world.Ezio/Altair's fight combinations and kill scenes were well choreographed and at one point in the game, Ezio fought around 20 guards at once, and it was one kill scene after another with moves that looked like a ballet of death. The ending of the game was very moving when Ezioand Sophia go to Masayaf and their conversation before he disappears to face his destiny was beautiful. As was Ezio's realisation when he faced his destiny. Without giving the ending away for those who have not yet played, Altair and Ezio coming together at the end was simply magnificent.Alas, the only downside to the game was the burning question: what happened between Sophia and Ezio??? I would like to know. The picnic scene looked to be leading in a certain direction and Masayaf corroborated this...but then...?One final word, Altair's ending was how it should be. And was very well written. Saddening also to see his story come to a close.Over to you Desmond...
