Pokémon Mystery Dungeon was my very first Pokémon game when I was 8 years old, so I was very excited a remake of the game came out on the Switch. It was my absolute favourite game.I think the game is excellent still, but there are some things that have been changed. Whether you prefer the original or the remake is up to personal taste, but here are some changes I've noticed. You can decide for yourself whether you consider them positive or negative changes:- When you do the personality quiz at the start of the game, it suggests the Pokémon that matches your personality, but you are free to choose which Pokémon you would like to be.This could be good for people who want a specific Pokémon and don't want to reset until they get the quiz right.- When you select your team partner, it asks you whether your partner is male or female. This wasn't part of the original game, and I thought it to be quite a pointless addition. I spent a lot of time thinking about this because when I played the original as a kid, I imagined my partner Charmander to be genderless. I suppose there's no harm in adding it, but I also thought it was pointless to add it.- The game autosaves now. In the original, you had to go home/go to bed to save the game. Now the game saves after every turn. This makes the game both easier and more difficult; you can quit the game whenever you like, but it also means you can't reset to a save spot if you die. Depending on what your team looks like, the game could be very difficult now.- There is no random A attack anymore. In the original, you could press the A button to ram into the opposing Pokémon. It was a weak attack, but it didn't require any AP. Now if you press A, your Pokémon will execute a random attack from your move pool. Usually, the game's AI will choose an attack that works best against your opposer, but it makes it hard to keep track of your AP without checking every few minutes.- When you attack, it can often happen that you attack twice. This didn't really happen in the original. It can be great when you're low on HP and want to get a fight over with quickly, but again, it drains your AP really, really quickly.I haven't finished playing the game yet and I find it to be a lot more difficult than the original for the Nintendo DS, but I think that's a good thing. I made the game hard for myself because I chose a Normal type Pokémon for myself and a Fire type as my partner, which makes the fire dungeons really difficult. If you pick a balanced team (i.e. Water and Fire or Electric and Grass, or anything opposing), it should be a lot easier. The art style of the game is super cute and the storyline has barely changed – which I absolutely love. It's an incredibly cute story. I can really recommend this game to old and new Pokémon fans.

This games gotten a lot of bad critic reviews, and there are some legitimate gripes. The game play is inherently repetitive, and the price tag is far too high for what is essentially a game boy game with wii graphicsHowever there’s so much this game does fundamentally better than actual Pokemon mainline titles. The joy of collecting Pokemon, winning turn based battles and levelling up is all here, unlike in a lot of other spin offs. But what sets this apart is the gameplay is actually difficult and intense at times while the story is engaging heartfelt and thoughtful. The characters have real personalities, charming expressions and interesting dialogue, new plot points being introduced after every mission or so to give an authentic day to day feel. The plot isn’t afraid to go into dark places leading to satisfying twists and an emotional ending.Gameplay wise, being a pokemon is down right cool, and being able to constantly change which Pokemon you control unlike the originals makes it more dynamic. While many dungeons are underwhelming, there are many which require real skill, as hunger, lack of rescourses and battle strategy can be your end. In long dungeons being high up is intense as you cannot save, leading to dramatic moments where you have to make smart and fast decisions to keep the game going. Thankfully the game rewards you with legendary Pokemon and rare items to make these experiences worthwhile. The games rounded off with nice art and catchy music.Overall; this isn’t triple A gameplay, it’s a shamelessly retro design and it won’t be fun for everyone. However, even though sword and shield have far more replaybility due to online battles, purely on story and solo game play these are honestly better games.

I want to start by adding I've played all the PMD games prior and I probably am very biased at this point. If you liked the originals or any other PMD game then this is a must-buy for the nostalgia alone. However, if this is your first entry into the series or you didn't much like the original games I would be cautious. £50 price tag is fairly high even for a die-hard fan such as me so if you don't like it then it could be a lot of money to waste. This is a very story-driven game which does suffer from lacklustre gameplay. I don't mind its repetitive grind style because the characters and plot are both engaging and well written but if you really do value the interesting gameplay that entertainsyou for hours then this isn't it.

I knew this was a pre-order item due for release on 6th March, my son desperately wanted me to buy it for him as one of his birthday presents. I’d already checked it out on various other sites as well as the Nintendo online store and everywhere I searched said the game was due to be released on 6th March. My son knew that although his birthday was on the exact same day as the release date that he might have to wait a bit longer for the game to arrive. Imagine how excited both myself and son were when the game actually turned up on.......6th March, his birthday !! To see such happiness and excitement on my sons face is something I’ll never ever forget !! Thank you, you’ve made his birthday even more special !!

I've been playing the main Pokemon games since I was a kid, all the way back from the original Red and Blue. I've played a lot of the games since, even the most recent Pokemon Shield, but never actually played any of the Mystery Dungeon series as have mainly kept to the main titles. Although a long term fan, I am practically new to this specific series and can honestly say I am loving it so far. Great soundtrack and visuals, gameplay and story are also fabulous. From what I can tell so far as well, it has a lot of replay value, especialy after you finish the main story quest, you would say the game is just beginning!!!Long term pokemon fan from the original games but new to this series...5/5 from me!

Pikemon mystery dungeon dx is a remake of the gba/ds games. You answer questions and from that you are given a pomemon to control if your not happy with the one your given you are given an option to change it.Control wise it is very easy and suitable for kids and adults alike, graphics wise its like everything is drawn. There are several level that range from small to large but in the form of multi leveled dungeons hence the name of the game.if your a pokemon fan then this game is for for you

Such a faithful recreation of a childhood classic. When I play, even weeks after release, I'm almost at tears with nostalgia. Some things have been fixed from the first game but correct me if I'm wrong, you could visit each individual camp and speak to your team mates. In this you can't. Not a big deal but it would have been nice. The overwhelmingly good thoughts on this game overwhelms any qualms. Congrats Nintendo, and here's hoping you do a Time/Darkness remake next!

Very nostalgic! I love it though the storyline is a bit disappointing to me, the way it ended was just very abrupt and saddening. I was shocked to find tiny tear duct ninjas chopping onions into my eyes. But other than the disappointing storyline, it is really good, was playing last night.....all of my main pokemon are currently trapped on the 39th floor of a sea dungeon in need of rescue including my 2 main characters. I have no idea how i'm going to get them back atm.

It's just like the GBA/NDS version but prettier. Some quality of life improvements have been added. Also, some ways to make the game easier have been added (e.g. OP makuhita dojo), but you can just not use them to have a more challenging experience. If you have enjoyed other MD games, you'll enjoy it a lot and if not, you won't. If you have never played them, note that people who like them usually like them more than the main Pokémon series!

It's a remake of pokemon mystery dungeon; blue and red team.If like me you played the originals. It's an absolute nostalgia trip.If not. Then the game is a top down turn-based dungeon crawler, themed around pokemon. If that sounds interesting I suggest you get it.If your not sure. There is a demo on the Nintendo online store. I'd suggest you try that to have a small taste of the gameplay.

Brilliant game. Has kept my eldest child quiet for hours, and is also fun for Dad (me) to play. Graphics are awesome. Price of it brand new was actually £2 cheaper than buying 2nd hand (at time of purchase). Plenty to do after completing main story, but don't confuse it with Pokemon Games like "Sword & Shield" as this game is very different in retrospect to them.

Having played the original version of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon when it was first released back in 2005 and loved it, I was excited to see it was being remade for Nintendo Switch. The art is amazing and the game feels like it's a whole new experience for fans of the previous games. It's a charming little remake of the original installments. I highly recommend it!

Amazing game. Played original on DS and this is just a perfect remake. Music is improved. Graphics are beautiful. I do think its a lil easier in some parts. And they have made some changes that really improve from the DS and GBA obviously. My bf got it for me. And in return I got it for him. He never owned the original but loves this.

This game surprised me with how good it is to play , looks stunning and has a great soundtrackEasy to pick up but offers a challenge to those who seek itThe post game after the main story is huge with plenty to doHonestly best pokemon game for a while and a must have switch games for pokemon fans in particular

I was a big fan of the first two mystery dungeon games and let down by the 3ds entries. This is a great return to form, the new art style work so well and the new improvements they made to game play take a lot of the old hassle out. If you were a fan of the originals or even just a fan of dungeon games def try.
