Point to note - I am a big fan of the Pokemon franchise, so this may be a little biased!!Having played previous PMD games, really pleased with this 3DS effort. The graphics are very good, 3D effect is very evident and well used throughout the game, the storyline manages to be surprising along the way and compels you to play on to find out what's going to happen next, there's a very good selection of Pokemon characters to add to your team along the way. I especially like the new features such as team skills, team attack, and the fact that you can walk past more powerful Pokemon when your team are too weak to take them on and leave them sleeping with no idea you were even there! There are also useful new items available throughout the game, which has made this a big improvement over previous games IMO.Cons - not very many.. the most frustrating things I've found so far are the exclusion of the ability to do more than one mission at a time even if there are several to play through on the same level. The fact that once a mission is completed within a dungeon, even if you decide to continue exploring, once you find the stairs on that level your only option is to leave the dungeon rather than continue to the next floor. And the most irritating thing of all - being told on a regular basis that you've had a great adventure today and should rest before playing some more... I understand this is a health and safety thing because of the 3D effect, but it's still mighty annoying to any players adult enough to know when to stop for ourselves! Some of the DLC is also payable, which is something I'm not so fond of, but they do add some interesting new dungeons and more Pokemon to the team.Overall, a nice addition to the PMD games, and in my opinion a step-up from previous PMD's, with very nice usage of the 3DS abilities. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into this game to make it more playable and enjoyable. Thumbs up!

A very good game! The story is very engaging and actually very emotional in the final cut-scenes. Any players of previous mystery dungeon games will swiftly recognise the gameplay despite the new 3D graphics which bring a new level to the mystery dungeon series. Unfortunately i do have quite a few criticisms... As i have played and completed all the other mystery dungeon games it is very obvious when playing that this game was very much simplified and dumbed-down from the last Explorers of sky, Making it a lot easier and therefore quicker to complete. The local multiplayer isn't as good as it sounds as there isn't very much you can do.There are not many pokemon in the game compared to the last games in the series and you cannot recruit the bigger legendary bosses that you fight such as lugia e.t.c Furthermore whilst being AMAZING the story is very short in comparison to explorers of sky and having finished the story i thought "is this it?" admitedly the ending is soo emotional that i did nearly cry a little bit. I would recommend the game to anyone who has the slightest liking for pokemon especially younger gamers (when i was a child i would have loved this game more than my own brother!) or gamers who haven't played 'mystery dungeons: explorers of sky' however if you have played previous mystery dungeon games then be prepared for two things: 1.Crying. 2. disappointment. The 3D graphics and the story are the redeeming features for this game and it is definitely worth buying and playing. But if you can do without 3D, prefer a story that will take you months to complete instead of days and prefer more of a challenge then buy 'explorers of sky' instead.

I've always been a fan of the Mystery Dungeon games but never got round to buying this one until recently. I have played all the previous Mystery Dungeon games and I must say that they're all kind of the same? I mean, if you've played previous games you'll know that (SPOILERS FROM HERE)... You come to the Pokemon world as a human turned into a Pokemon and befriend some random guy and make a team then recruit Pokemon and explore dungeons. But when I say it's kind of the same, I mean that it still uses the old "having visions in your dream of secrets that lead to why you became a human" thing and the usual sad ending where you go back to the human world after saving the Pokemon world and then we all know that you're going to return anyway somehow.(No more spoilers)...All the games are very similar BUT this does not mean that each one after the first is boring. There are lots of new little things in this one, such as mini games, and building a paradise. I've actually really enjoyed this game and will continue to play it and explore those 99 floor dungeons and see if I can reach the end. The 3D effects are really nice too. This game is awesome if you've never played Mystery Dungeon before, but as I've said, if you're someone who has played previous games, don't expect too much.

I've played all of the whole mystery dungeon series and managed to finish them (like I'm sure a fair few of you have) and It's not hard to see that this version dose have many differences that show that the makers are trying to make more original content while taking out a lot of the old that arguably make the game more fun.I will give a warning that anyone that managed to finish the harder dungeons on any of the previous games might find this to be a bit of a disappointment from how easy the main story line is, especially since they took away the problem of hunger and added the team attack power that could clear out or do a lot of damage to all Pokemon in a monster house. To be fair though, the game is quite fun to play and it's one of the few 3DS games I've played that have really done well with the 3D visual effects, plus, They actually decided to add a local multiplier mode (although I don't quite know what it's like).Overall, I think this is worth getting if you're a fan of the mystery dungeon series and if you're looking for more content then you can always pay around just under £2 for each new interesting dungeons on offer in the DLC section.

This is a lovely game to go for if you don't enjoy the "beat the clock" type of game. If you have not played "mystery dungeon" before it is worth saying that the dungeons are not dungeons, they can be a pleasant walk through the woods, or a climb up a mountain past a waterfall, and the 3d graphics can be rather charming.Basically, the plot is that you are a human, turned into a Pokemon, and you need to save the world. Luckily, this is not a difficult job, and while saving the world you can also build up "paradise", a place where you build your house, and a choice of shops that sell items to help you as you save the world. The dungeons themselves are not too difficult, I found I could do most of them first time. Not all, so it was not boring, but most.As other people have commented the dialogue can be very slow, and it seems to repeat rather a lot, but that is a minor irritation.I would certainly recommend this game for Pokemon fans, it is possibly aimed at younger children, but as a middle aged mum I am absolutely addicted to the little side games in paradise and the exploration of the dungeons.

Having bought the previous Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, I had to try this one out as well.Pros:The 3D effects are pretty goodThe mini-games are enjoyableThe secrets and distortions in dungeons bring something newProcesses are much easier (such as attacks, changing leader and switching items)Companion Mode allows you to play as any recruited PokémonALL of the Pokémon you recruit gain exp when you do, so even if you don't use them, they will still level upCons:The storyline is okay but the characters talk A LOT, a downer for those who (like me) have a 'less talk and more action' attitudeYou have to choose yourself and your partner at the start (perhaps a pro for some, but I preferred the fun questions...)The characters are a bit cheesy, they often cry and they are a bit OTT with emotionsOverall I found this game very enjoyable and fresh, though I think some Pokémon need to learn when to shut up ;)A must for any Pokémon fan :)

amazon's involvement, £5 less than normal price.the game itself suffers from normal Pokemon issues, namely, over the top story that is epic as you gods but causes you to realize that I am a blue sea otter with my life partner being a yellow mouse.this actuality make the game unintentionally hilarious and is worth a buy just to see what they sell as serious.there are some intentional humor like a 10 min scene explaining why your house which was built with heart is rubbish, the computer controlled characters are a little stupid but not game breaky and sorting out building in the paradise is fun and addicting.worth at least the free demo because it may not be good but it is fun

I had heard conflicting reviews about this game, but I definitely don't regret investing in it. The play time is huge, so it's definitely value for money, and there are plenty of fun games and extra things that you can do even after completing the story. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it. Though, a few details were omitted in this and it was a shame, such as the character personality test at the beginning, which is something I really enjoyed about the series.

I've waited a long time for the next Mystery Dungeon game and I'm not disappointed! The graphics are colourful and cheerful, and the characters are cute and lovable. The playstyle is just like the other Mystery Dungeon games. I only wish there were more starter pokemon to choose from, and they should have kept the starter questionnaire from the other games (the one that matches a pokemon to your personality). There are extra dungeons as DLC.

I've played the previous Mystery Dungeon games (Blue Rescue Team,Explorers of Darkness, Explorers of Sky), so I was expecting a lot from this game. And it delivered. Although I've only played partway through so far, it's great. With the 3DS graphics too, it really brings the Pokemon to life. I'm now curious as to where the story goes from here. I'm hoping it's long too, like Explorers of Darkness/Time/Sky were.

I bought this game mainly to add to my Pokemon game collection as I no longer have the time to put into mastering them all. Whilst I did play the game for a bit, I felt it was easier to level up and achieve objectives than in previous mystery dungeons games, and that the game was far less tactical than it used to be. If it wasn't Pokemon, I'd probably be giving a 3* review, but overall it seems ok.

Amazon recommended this game for me, and I always have been a fan of the Pokémon games - Never tried mystery dungeon before. So i did a quick check up, on some gameplay on youtube - I thought that it looked okay, so I gave it a try.. And now I'm loving it!The beginning/tutorial of the game is a bit "long", but after that, the story is fantastic! :D I love it! :D

20.8.2013

If you like the previous games of pokemon dungeon I would recommend to play this one too. The 3D effects are actually good and you can choose which pokemon to be instead of answering questions in the beginning. I like it a lot and it's very cute, but it's a little boring that they talk a lot. It's very easy to understand the gameplay though.

20.8.2014

This game is very enjoyable and the story, though a bit weird definitely is interesting however the only reason I cannot give this 5 stars is that it lacks a post game. When you beat the game it gives you one last dungeon to explore as part of the story and does not have anything after that other than the request missions.

Loved it! I actually cried around the end of the game, very captivating for a game. I bought it for my little brother (who lives in another country), and he's actually pretty sad that he can't play it right now. Just... loved it. One of the best Mystery Dungeon games I've played.
