Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300...........A premium electric toothbrush with “Sonicare “ technology. In the box you get...........Toothbrush unit ( it comes with some charge on it, but needs a proper charge as soon as possible)1 ProtectiveClean toothbrush head which has a microchip in the base to tell the toothbrush when it needs replacing.1m charging lead, with standard 2 pin plug( no converter plug, so you need to have your own..around a pound to buy)Carry case, holds the toothbrush unit and 2 toothbrush heads-no room for the charger.InstructionsGuaranteeRegistration information.Toothbrush..............If you are moving up another electric toothbrush ( namely oral B)to a Sonicare for the first time you will not believe how superior this brush is, teeth feel super clean after using it and it’s packed with features. If you are upgrading an older model Sonicare toothbrush you will only really notice the new pressure sensor feature, change toothbrush head indicator and maybe the choice of program. It is also a very smart black colour and looks cool.Features........A choice of cleaning program, low or high intensity- I like to start and end the day with high intensity for a deep clean and use the low intensity after lunch.Change toothbrush head......a bit of a gimmick and the special heads you need to buy (with a microchip in the are more expensive than standard brush heads).Pause feature...stops the brush to allow you to rid your mouth of toothpaste mid clean without spraying toothpaste foam all over the bathroom.Pressure sensor- press too hard and it sounds like an angry bee, relax the pressure and its back to normal again.Results........Really, really clean feeling teeth.... a good toothpaste helps though too.Less tartar build up on the inside of my bottom teeth with this range.Long lasting charge... long enough to take on holiday with out your charger if used twice a day.Mobile- The carry case allows this to be popped in a handbag etc to use during the day when out and about ( no one wants to see your lunch between your teeth!)Niggles........Spare heads are expensive, the one with the microchip especially so- the good news is that if you don’t really care too much about this feature standard Sonicare heads fit the brush and work well....these are usually on lightening deals so look out for a bargain.

This is a wonderfully sleek and stylish toothbrush. The matt black finish on the handle is particularly nice, it looks smart and has a really comfortable texture when holding it.I've used this to replace a previous similar Philips Sonicare model that has had a couple of years of good use and was just generally getting a bit grubby and am pleased to say this model has kept the same wonderfully easy to use features and most importantly that "lick your teeth" clean feeling. It has two main settings, one of which is very gentle so I always use the more fierce brush setting. It is incredibly high speed and I'm also very pleased to say it's a lot quieter than my last version of this brush.I used to not use my old electric one at night time and had a separate normal manual brush so I didn't disturb the rest of the family.....this one is nice and hushed. It has the same quad pacing function which gives you a gentle reminder to move on to another part of your teeth - handy as it's so easy to go into zombie mode when brushing your teeth and just focus on one area. The 4 cycles take 2 minutes which is another great feature for me as I never used to brush my teeth anywhere near as long as that - it gets you into good routines.A new function on this one is a "pressing too hard" alert. Again I find this handy as I definitely press too hard. The vibrating of the brush head does this wobbly effect when you're pressing too hard and again this trains you into good habits to make sure you're brushing well but not too hard and risking damaging your gums.It comes with a smaller charging point which is another nice feature. We have a 2 pin plug in a little mirrored cabinet in the bathroom and space is at a premium. It also comes with a case which is nice enough, nothing fancy and not sure I'd use it much but it might be handy if you do lots of travelling. It would be nice to have more than one brush head, especially as they're pretty expensive. That's really my only criticism, it's another wonderful electric toothbrush from Philips that leaves my teeth feeling so much cleaner than regular brushing

This is far superior to the Sonicare brush costing double the amount. It is more slender, lighter weight, more attractive and has most of the features of the more expensive model. Furthermore the on/off button is better made and the brush attachment is more robust. I have been using Sonicare brushes without a break for over 25 years and have yet to find a better alternative. I have never had a cavity and attribute this to the Philips toothbrush as much as to good luck. The last one I purchased was the more expensive model which lasted only 2 years before the button failed and the brush attachment fell apart. I decided to try this model which cost half the amount at time of purchase, (ca. £60)and have been very happy with it. The on/off button is silicon rubber that lies flush with the body rather than the protruding metallic-plastic buttons on the high-end model that failed quite quickly. It is also much thinner and lighter which is a bonus when travelling but also because it fits the hand more comfortably. This version offers three power modes and is easy to toggle between the three. There is a solid travel case and charger provided. The case is useless to me because it's so large and heavy it adds too much weight to my cabin baggage, but more traditional travellers may find it useful and it is of great quality. Finally I should point out that Sonicare brushes oscillate at 63,000 rpm when at full speed. Cheaper Chinese copies of sonic toothbrushes oscillate at about 42,000 rpm at most. Be careful to compare these figures if considering a cheaper alternative as you really are not getting like for like. The Philips can also be fitted with softer bristle brush heads if so desired which is a feature I am unsure about with cheaper brands. I was disappointed by the relatively short lifespan of the Philips top-of-the-range brush but feel this cheaper version is actually much better and a return to the quality I have grown to associate with this brand. This is the model to buy and the best brand in my opinion. Recommended. I hope this has been helpful.

My dentist told me I had to get an electric toothbrush to prevent me from doing more damage to my gums by brushing too hard. I have always resisted the idea as I've not really had a problem with keeping my teeth well brushed and I really did not want to hand over control to yet another gadget.Anyway, needs must.... so I found a reasonably good one on Prime Day for half price and made sure it has pressure control - ie it warns you if you are pressing too hard.. It also has a facility to tell you when 30 seconds is up so you can do 30 seconds per quarter of your mouth.Well, the first day I tried it I almost sent it back!It felt really really odd and I kept touching my teeth with the vibrating plastic part which felt and sounded quite unpleasant; and I dribbled frothy toothpaste all over the place. But I told myself I had to give it a week and made myself try again - but this time I read the instructions more fully. I discovered I could set the brush so that the first 14 brushings start more gently and gradually increase in intensity and I learned what to expect to identify when the 30 seconds period is up and when I am brushing too hard - the change in the brush is very slight and not easy to recognise at first. So the second day was an improvement but I still felt my teeth rattling when I accidentally touched them with the plastic rather than the bristles and I was worried to close my mouth as I brushed in case I did it again. However, the vibration from the brush on my teeth was less severe and I felt a little more positive. The third day I managed to keep my mouth more closed and dripped less froth and the fourth day I was feeling more proficient. Now, the fifth day, I am quite hopeful that the brush is doing a reasonable job compared with my manual brush but I still have to do a little more brushing to 'finish off' after the 2 minutes timed brush is over.I will now have to wait until the next visit to the dentist to find out how effective it is!

The toothbrush is notably larger and weightier than a basic cheapy supermarket model, and for an electric the head is a little bigger too.Being sonic means the brush parts don't really move, they vibrate at a "sonic" frequency, hence the name.According to the packaging this brush comes with a lithium battery, this is a significant upgrade to older and cheaper models which have a NiMH technology on them, lithium charges faster and holds more charge per weight, and so I think it should last a lot longer than an NiMH alternative both in battery life and also in battery useable life; not that lithium batteries last longer per se,they just have better control systems on board that mean they don't get overheated or undercharged so easily. In terms of cleaning performance it does fine. Most electric toothbrushes work about the same if you use them properly anyway so this is very much a personal preference. I think sonic ones can be better for gums, in some cases. But official advice from several dentists always comes down to "electric is better if you can but really it's down to actually doing it, and doing it right".The travel/storage case and the cover for the brush head are both nice to see.The brush heads are not cheap. At time of writing they were on sale at a local supermarket so you can keep an eye on them, I think they were about a fiver a head when on sale. Supposedly the brush tells you when it's time to change the head but how that works accurately I can't imagine. Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't pretty much a timer. I don't believe it stops you carrying on using them. It's pretty much just an LED that lights up. If I do get locked out of my toothbrush I will update the review!Overall a solid buy but do check availability and price of refills, I noted they are available in big supermarkets and stuff but nowhere near as widespread as the "leading brand".

We're fortunate to have several of the Philips Sonicare range in our family and this is a mid range version. It is a little basic in comparison with the top of the range models that my husband and I use, but it is an extremely good toothbrush nonetheless. So - in the box, the gorgeous powder pink handle (which I love! Tempted me to switch from the posher one I have, it's so cute - will definitely appeal to all the pink lovers out there), a Plaque Defence brush head (just the one - be aware of replacement costs when choosing which brush to buy obviously - but we find that we always manage to buy them on offer). The charger that is included has a two pin plug that you plug into a shaver plug (or converter).Great if you have shaver sockets in your bathrooms but worth noting if you don't! Basic plastic travel case. Bit disappointing for the price - I love my glitzy travel case for my sonicare and I think this could be a bit fancier for the price - but ho hum - no huge deal.I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that these are amazing performers. We have used them for some years now and we have not had a single problem with them. They charge quickly and the charge lasts for ages - this will last 2 weeks - brilliant for holidays. The sonic element is just brilliant - it really works - you will notice a difference in your teeth very quickly - I definitely went a shade lighter after about a month of using my first one of these. They also have basic sensors that tell you if you are pressing too hard, two speeds (intensities - hard and gentle I would say) and they tell you when to move around the mouth too.Honestly - I'm a massive convert to the sonic thing and I think these are great brushes. They are more expensive than a regular toothbrush - but they will save you money at the dentist. I can't really recommend them highly enough.

The price is positioned at the high end for sonic toothbrushes, so one expects a quality product. I don’t use electric toothbrushes, so I obtained views on this from my daughter.“I’ve used electric toothbrushes before, but the sonic ones take getting used to - the first few times I used it I could barely brush the inside of my top line of teeth as it tickled so much. The booklet says that it tests your brushing style for the first 14 brushes, and now doesn’t tickle as much; either this test process is effective, or I’m just more used to the sensation. It is lightweight and easy to use, though the handle is quite long, so not the easiest to use for some people. It gets my teeth very clean, cleaner than other toothbrushes, while not feeling too harsh on my teeth. It takes 24 hours to charge, which I imagine is standard, but it would be preferable to have a shorter charging period so you can brush your teeth twice a day with it fully charged. This is due to the charger type - as it’s not a direct connection, charging a device which of course is exposed to water, a longer charging time is probably inevitable.Given the price, I would have expected a three pin plug converter in the package - fewer people now have shaver points in their bathroom, so I would think most people would charge this elsewhere and would need a normal plug. The indication for the 30 second mark to move onto the next quadrant is a high pitched buzz which is very quick and easy to miss, and I would like his to be more obvious. It turns off after two minutes, which may suit some people, but I would be happier if it had a manual option enabling you to keep it on longer. It has a good carry case, but in this price range you expect that.”It comes with one brush head - replacement brushes are approximately £5 each, and you need to factor this in.

The Philips Soniccare Protective Clean 4300 Electric Toothbrush is a relatively mid-range electric toothbrush that's designed to ensure that the user gets a good and effective performance out of the device whilst providing a powerful brushing action to ensure that the user's teeth are cleaned to a high standard. To achieve this Philips have firstly designed an electric toothbrush that really works overtime to get the bristles cleaning off as much plaque and 'lodged-on' food as possible. The brush informs the user when too much pressure is applied to the teeth, with an extra vibration. Personally I find this particular function on these electric toothbrushes incredibly handy, as prior to using them,it turns out I used to apply a tad too much pressure when brushing my teeth. The toothbrush also has a small LED light on the handle which illuminates when it thinks it’s time to replace the toothbrush head. Personally I’m not keen of this. I think it’s overly keen on pushing for a replacement toothbrush head far too early, and as such I’ve chosen to ignore the indicator, making this aspect of the toothbrush completely redundant. The toothbrush also lets you know with a short buzz when to move on to the next quadrant of your mouth, every thirsty seconds, so that after two minutes you should have given your teeth a full clean. As far as the product's actual performance goes, for the month or so that I've been using it, I have to say that I've found the toothbrush to achieve pretty good results; getting into those awkward nooks and crannies - between the teeth and around the gum line. All in all it's a reasonably good electric toothbrush with a few good extras, but nothing overly groundbreaking.

I've been using the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 Sonic electric toothbrush for just over 2 weeks and I have been very happy with it.The biggest improvement I have already noticed from my previous Sonicare toothbrush (Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Electric Toothbrush) is the longer battery life as I have still not had to charge it since I started using it. With my previous toothbrush, I would only get around a week's worth of use between each charge. Of course, this may change as the new one gets older but as of now, I am very impressed.I also love the design and the simplicity of the functions. My previous toothbrush had many functions which I never actually used which was why I opted to go for this one with the one mode as it was the same mode I used 9/10 times on my old toothbrush. The performance of the new toothbrush is also very good I have not noticed any significant difference in how it cleans. I still get the same great feeling after using it.I am also intrigued to see how well the BrushSync feature works in terms of letting me know when to change the brush head. I generally change the brush head every 3 months so I'm interested to see if the BrushSync feature works to a similar timeframe. So overall even after only using this for what I would call a short period of time I have been very impressed with this product and I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve used a Sonicare toothbrush for the last 10 years and they have always been good. My last one developed a fault after 4 years and Philips replaced the toothbrush and it lasted for another 5 years and has been excellent. I did not use the travel usb charger so decided that it would be worthwhile getting a simple 2 setting version. This version would be fine for a holiday without charger but if for longer (backpacking etc) then you might need the usb travel charger. The charger is simple although I do prefer the older style which has a flat bottom. The charge in the toothbrush consistently lasts for 2 weeks and I brush my teeth twice a day.The brush sync is useful but obviously problematic if you switch brush heads often… but I just use the line on the toothbrushes to know when to replace the heads.I do like the wobble feature for when you press too hard on the brush, however it has to be pressed pretty hard into your gum to trigger it. The low setting is great for those who might not be use to a Sonicare toothbrush but I instantly set mine to the higher power and it operates at the same rate as my last one.Simple, effective and hopefully will last as long as my last one :)

The Phillips Sonicare 4300 is a very good electric toothbrush for the £50 price tag. The toothbrush arrives with the vibrating handle, a charging base that is connected via a shaving plug, a travel case and one brush head. When you first use the brush, for the first 14 days it starts off in a "low vibration" mode to allow you to get used to the electric toothbrush and not to spray toothpaste everywhere, but if you've used one before, you can turn this off by pressing the power button for 2 seconds while charging.I had originally purchased an Oral B fancy bells and whistles with bluetooth (absolutely useless fyi) a while ago, and thought I would like to change, and I'm glad I did.I personally found the heads on the sonicare are slimmer, so I can more easily reach my gums, where I have had a lot of problems with in the past compared, even with the Oral B. I've had good experience with the battery life already, easily lasting 1 week while travelling.Pros:Good PriceGood Battery LifeExcellent Vibration/Cleaning - I much prefer the Sonicare to the Oral BSlim heads to easily reach gumsCons:The "pressure sensitivity" is a little hard to notice over the vibration of the handle

I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for decades and have always been happy with them. A few years ago I bought a multi-feature 'Diamondclean' when it fell below £100 on offer. The only time I used the various 'modes' is when I had to cycle through them to rinse the head. Alas, the Diamondclean failed after 18 months, by far the worst longevity on any Sonicare I have had. I replaced it with an equally effective 'Easyclean' whose features and modes were limited to 'on' or 'off'. The Easyclean is still going strong but when I saw this at £55 on Black Friday I began pining for the superior feel of the matte handle found on the Diamondclean. I scoured the blurb but no mention of the type of handle material but bought it anyway (that being the post 60 limits of 'living on the edge' ). Happily it does have a matte handle and even better you don't have to cycle through multiple modes to rinse the head. It doesn't seem much better at cleaning than the Easyclean but does feel more comfortable in the hand and is still inexpensive enough not to provoke apoplexy if it fails six months out of warranty.

First off, I was advised to buy a sonicare toothbrush by my dentist - they firmly believe electric is superior to manual and sonic is superior to electric. I myself have the diamond clean, and my girlfriend has the brand - the ProtectiveClean.First off - the brush came on a great offer, it was under £50 when purchased, so this is on the lower end of the cost curve for a toothbrush. However I am really impressed! The basic function, a two minute clean is virtually indistinguishable between the two. The DiamondClean has a lot more bells and whistles - but honestly in the time I have had it I have never used the polish or the gum care function. The only things about this brand that make it a little worse than the more premium version are:1.The case is plastic vs. and inductive charging cloth coated one2. The charger is the old style, rather than an attractive charging cup with wireless chargingOtherwise it's basically the same! Just with so much more bang for your buck from this brush. Would recommend for anyone who wants a great brush without paying a huge amount for it.

To say there is a huge choice in electric toothbrushes, would be an understatement. So anything that comes out now needs not to be all bells and whistles, but do the basics to perfection and anything else is just a bonus. Now Philips usually do the basics perfect and always score high on build quality, this model is no different.Despite not boasting a hundred different types of brush modes and a million accessories like some brushes, it does it’s few features fantastically. The gentle brush mode for example is adequate enough to deal with most people’s needs, it isn’t overly powerful yet it manages a deep clean and will leave your moth feeling fresh and clean. Some brushes come with too many modes and this shows you don’t need them all.It has some nice features for pressure for example, letting you know if your applying too much and potentially causing damage, it’s good anyone who needs reminding every so often.Overall for £70 plus it’s worth it, it isn’t as complicated or fancy as some but in this price range it’s great and the results are fantastic..

This is a really good toothbrush. It feels robust and well-made and I've had no problems with it so far. The charge does last for about two weeks as it states so you don't need to worry about recharging it all the time and it is also useful for trips as you don't need to carry the charger with you. The plastic carry case is nice, it's easy to fit everything in and is compact enough to store in a cupboard, drawer or suitcase or bag when traveling. The toothbrush is quiet when in use, so you don't need to worry about waking other people in the house up. As with other similar toothbrushes it gives you a signal when you should move to another section of your teeth, this is a really useful feature, but this is about as far as the extra features go. However for a toothbrush, this is enough, it works well and I am impressed with how well it cleans my teeth. But for the price I do think it is ridiculous that you only get one brush head.
