My husband and I both use this brush - with different heads! - and, spookily, 2 years to the day since I bought my last one I am here to buy a replacement. Given that the unit has effectively been used twice as much as normal I think 2 years is entirely reasonable. So, twice as many charges, changing the head 2 or 3 times a day and 4 full uses a day. I've not had the connector pin sheer off and I've not had battery degradation. What has happened however is the motor seems to have eventually lost its 'buzz'. It's still functional but if you press too hard or touch the plastic of the brush to your tooth while you're brushing, the motor stops. So time to buy another and no hesitation in buying this again.I've only marked it down a star because the brush heads are hideously expensive and can't be bought from supermarkets as the Oral B ones can.

Just bought my 3rd Sonicare, they seem to have an in-built self destruct mechanism, post warranty, all the ones I have owned broke within warranty (and Phillips replaced them) and one, one month outside the warranty. I'm not a diligent tooth brusher, so once a day is all I do, and I have loads of fillings from when I was younger. To counteract this I used to get check-ups every 6 months, and a hygienist relieves me of c£50 each appointment, so a couple of hundred pounds a year for dental care. Since using a Sonicare no more Hygienist, and check-ups every year as my teeth are sooo clean. So even if I need to buy one of these every 2 years, and even with the cost of replacement heads I'm ahead £ for £,no more fillings, and cleaner teeth. Hence the 5*

I have had this toothbrush for over year now and its still going strong. I bought it for the sensitive setting as i have veneers and it is thorough but gentle. It has a timer for each area of your mouth to ensure you spend enough time cleaning each bit. My teeth/mouth has never felt so clean. It has a whitening programme which i am not sure does actually whitens but does leave teeth feeling extra clean anyway which is a bonus. For the price of around £50 it is a bargain for everything this brush does. It holds its charge well too - we charge roughly every 8 days (2 of us use this twice a day - with different heads!)We just charge overnight and its good to go next morning. Not sure i would pay the full rrp for it but when on offer its a bargain.

First of all I'd like to say that this my first electric toothbrush so I have nothing to compare to.However, this toothbrush is unexpectedly good.It does indeed brighten your teeth.Mine were brightened, I would say, one tone. But the most amazing part is that it removed about 80% of the tartar that I had in the back of my lower front teeth.Plus, I don't have to pressure the toothrush against my teeth anymore, so they get protected this way too.The only problem that I experienced was a problem with the plug. The pins are close enough together so they wouldn't fit in my plug.I went to the eletrical store and bought a converter, about 1 euro, and fits well now.

This is a great toothbrush. I've had several Phillips toothbrushes over the years and they are all great. The only downside is that they tend to break between 12-18months after using them. The rubber band in the neck of the toothbrush wears away and stops the toothbrush head vibrating properly. If you keep your receipt and the toothbrush breaks within 1 year of purchase (it maybe 18 months, I can't quite remember), you can contact Phillips customer services and they will send you a replacement one.

Sonicare vs Oral BAfter several years of using Oral B and being increasingly disappointed with poor battery life we made the change to Sonicare and won't be going back. The battery lasts about a week with two of us using it, our teeth feel much cleaner for longer and they are definitely getting whiter. It is much quieter then the Oral B, more of a loud hum than a buzz and the oval heads reach tricky areas with ease. My only gripe is that it does not come with a wall mounted stand.

I have had four Phillips sonicare toothbrushes over the years and although they are not as reliable as my first one I have yet to find any other brand that I prefer. It is annoying that the life span of this sonicare toothbrush has got shorter and I have had replacement brushes under the 2 yr warranty twice. For me it is just about worth sticking with Phillips because while they work they are the best and I don't like the alternatives.

This very, very expensive toothbrush was - at half the price - a bargain (bought it for £50, usually £100) - it is brilliant - I have not even set it on stain removal mode to date and yet stains in my teeth appear to have diminished and disappeared already. My teeth also feel great after a wash - much, much better in my dental expertise free opinion than all other brushes I have used before. Well done Phillip - I mean Philipps.

We feel as a family that Sonicare are great brushesYes, they do not last for ever, but that is the nature of electronic/mechanical itemsEven if they last 1-2 years, I consider that at £35 it is very good value for a great tooth cleaning experienceWe have 4 different sonicare brushes in the family, fortunately the chargers are universal for the newer brushes so we only have to leave one out!

I can't recommend this toothbrush enough. I've had it for over 12 months and I'm convinced its saved my (remaining) teeth. I haven't had to have any dental treatment since I got it (which is amazing for me) and my dentist and hygienist have both remarked on how improved my gum health is. I only wish I'd had one years ago and perhaps the teeth I have in my head might now all be my own!

Ive had this toothbrush for 2 years and 2 months, and now the handle has gone faulty - i contacted Philips through their "Chat now" option on their site, and within minutes the representative had extended my 2 year warranty for free - and set up a new replacement which arrived within 7 days. Remarkable service and a good quality brush. Philips is now my new favourite brand

Bought this for my boyfriend as a present, well what else do you buy a man who buys himself everything he wants! I knew he would never buy one of these so I did. I've had one for years and would never go back to a manual toothbrush even though I was sceptical all those years previous. He seems to be on the same page now, says it's amazing and teeth feel really smooth.

My dentist recommended this item to me & it is fabulous. Powerful, effective, my best purchase for a long time. This is the first toothbrush I have owned of this kind & it is worth it's weight in gold. My teeth feel so clean afterwards & I just know that it is cleaning my teeth properly when in use. I would recommend this item to anyone.

This is the second one I have had as my first stopped working after about 8 years ! I had to revert back to a normal electric toothbrush and really noticed the difference between that and a sonic one. strongly recommend, takes time to get use to it but you would never lok back and my gums are much more healthy (so says my dentist !)
