I have an active 16 month old border collie that happily eats this food as his main meal/diet. I also have a bag of Orijen Regional Red that I bought on offer on Amazon that I switch to in order to prevent food boredom. I divide his daily gram allowance into portions, reserving some to use as treats as it's dry I often give it as what I call 'fun food', placed into a brain training puzzle game or into a slow release treat dispensing toy, turning meal times into something more mentally beneficial, rewarding and challenging. Border collies, working breeds and many other intelligent dogs tend to get bored and thrive off challenges etc. If your dog initially refuses this food or has an off day, simply change your tactics and try to make it more fun, (increasing the value). This food has a Calcium (Min.) 1.4 %, Phosphorus (Min.) 1.1 % ratio. This is the ideal balance for calcium and phosphorus and essential for ideal growth and development and protection of the joints as well as a healthy skeletal system. You will notice on visits to the vets that your dog will be trim, lean and healthy when fed this food according to his/her daily feeding allowance, yet on the weight scale they will be on the heavier side. This will be due to a very healthy bone mass. Preventing fractures and joint injuries and developmental problems. Something that's becoming more and more prevalent in younger dogs.I'm very happy and assured that this food is nutritionally complete and rates a very high score of 97% on allaboutdogfood.com. The amount of grains and fillers in many dog food brands is a huge concern for long-term canine health and causes many short term symptoms like dry and itchy skin and a dull coat as well as dry and itchy eyes, or weepy eyes etc. A dog I owned previously suffered these symptoms until I made myself more informed and transitioned her diet away from the common brands. There is a reason why dogs produce up to 100 times the amount of acid than that of a human stomach... and it's not to break down grains. All in all my dog loves this food and I love the ingredients and trust the brand and so I'm happy to bulk buy to cut down the long-term cost a little because it is expensive but in my opinion worth it. His stools are also consistently firm yet moist with zero clean-up mess. It is a bit of a bugger that the packaging isn't re-sealable so what I do is tear open (where the open tab is) to almost but not quite halfway, (or big enough to fit your hand into) and use a cup size measuring scoop that you can leave in the bag. I use a stainless steel one for hygiene. Then fold down the corner of the bag and clip with a large stainless steel clip/clamp.

In terms of the cat food, this is fantastic. The size of the biscuits is quite small, so would suit most cats and kittens. It smells very rich and organic, and although dry food, seems to have quite high fat content, as there's a light oiliness to them. And most importantly, my cat LOVES this stuff - so much he'll even take it as treats in place of dreamies and other snacks. Since using it I've also noticed his coat seems glossier, and he seems to be just generally happy, energetic and healthy. So no complaints at all with the food, and it's definitely worth the price for the quality and "cat appeal"However, the packaging is... pretty poor.Something I find really annoying is that the pack isn't resealable.Given the size, unless you have several cats, a bag will last at least a month - so having a seal is a must. And given the price, you would think they could add a resealable strip, especially when they have them on most brands regardless of the cost.Additionally, it doesn't stand stable. You can't lay it on its side once opened, as it isn't resealable - and you have to lean it against something of you keep it upright. As such, I've had to buy a large tub to decant this into.Purely for the cat food, I would give it 5 stars, but the packaging is a 3

This is a great product and as far as I'm aware the only true whole prey dry food on the market - there's a wide variety of grain free brands on the market but none is whole prey. I'm gutted they stopped selling it on a pet website where I normally shop simply as it's not locally sourced (and although there is no alternative) so I'm happy I can still get it on amazon.Looks expensive but lasts much longer than other kibbles as it's packed with nutrients and protein so cats actually eat less than when feeding products with grain or other fillers (tapioca, potato starch..). Not to mention the savings on vets as both my cats are perfectly healthy thanks to this. They are happy, energetic indoor cats with healthy weight and silky fur and they love these kibbles as well. Originally wanted to feed them BARF but they both refuse the available frozen ranges (don't blame them as they look and smell quite unappealing) so we use these kibbles as a base and support with natural grain free wet food and raw meat (mainly chicken but also fish and occasionally beef).I cannot but recommend this product, especially as it works even for the fussiest of eaters!

Got recommended this company's product by a dog walker friend who was also a veterinary assistant. Our 11 month old boxer boy was suddenly finding hard to keep any food down having been perfectly happy for previous 9 months with Burns puppy food. We think he'd caught a stomach bug but the problem was no matter what we tried, be it dry or wet food, fresh meat or tinned, he just couldn't seem to keep anything inside him. Anyway long story short our dog walker friend explained the amount of grain the majority of dry food companies put into their products and our four legged friends are not designed to digest that amount of grain filler but that Orijen was high quality meat fish and veg which in her experience dogs seemed to blossom on.It seemed pricey in comparison to what we we'd been using but in desperation we gave it go. Happy to report within days vomiting stopped [of course that could have been coincidence] however his coat took on a real healthy glow the weight started to come back on and he just loves it so looks like we staying with Orijen

My dog loves the stuff and never gets bored of it. Though it's not cheap, it is good quality, high-nutrition food and she needs far less food as a result of it being high quality (we used the guidelines to start but through trial and error found the right quantity to keep her at a healthy weight, which for us is 2 small ramekin-sized meals a day). Grain-free, which is great for many dogs (including staffies) who can have sensitivities. It's also low in fat, even compared to other similar quality foods, which is great for my very food-motivated 6 year old staffy, who has arthritis so is limited to around 30-45 mins walking per day and can't run around or play much to burn off calories.I've even used it as training treats on occasion and she's been very responsive, which suggests it's a high value treat for her.

matilda is my 3rd westie - my two previous ones had pedigree, iams ect - i am very careful now i know what goes into dog food - even brands you would trust use "fillers" - or "rehydrogized animal meat" whatever that is!now - yes it is expensive - i appreciate that and i never thought i would contemplate spending so much - but having spend weeks and weeks researching the best quality and value ( for the ingredients ) - i went for it and i have not looked back! it may seem a lot but when you break it down into the daily spend its really not that much xyou do need to introduce it slowly over a week or so - gradually increasing the ratio between this and the previous food - i switched and have not looked back - it seems perfectly balanced (i tried lilys kitchen another great brand but it seemed too rich)

This is the only kibble that really suits one of my shelties. Pretty much every other kibble I’ve tried comes back up later in the evening, even if it’s well soaked. She was on raw and that really suited all my dogs but that takes up freezer room I don’t have. This is the nearest thing I’ve found to raw. My dogs have been on it a long time now and it definitely suits them. It’s pricey, for sure, but I think it’s worth it. No nasty things in it at all and no grains/ gluten which is very important to me as I’m coeliac and the last thing I need is a load of wheat or barley dust in the kitchen. My dogs have thrived on it and even my poor rescue sheltie who has very few teeth manages it as long as it’s well soaked. The pieces are not too big which is good as my dogs are quite small, in the 7-10kg range.

This product along with some natural additions has done wonders on my housebound rescue pedigree. Her coat is sleek and shiny, her health has improved drastically - no more tummy problems, bad breath, poor skin, healthy gums etc. And to top it, it barely smells when i leave it out for them, unlike the last brand i used.I 'beef up' this diet with fresh raw meat, organs, eggs, fish oil and ground egg shells.Update:My only wish would be that it had a 'keep fresh closure'. As it stands, I'm having to do a roll and tape routine. This isnt ideal for a 5+kg sized bag for a single cat.AND knowing that it has increased in price dramatically since I first started purchasing it at £36 is irritating.Especially as the 6kg Puppy Feed is way cheaper!

I started feeding my terrier/collie cross rescue dog this after a recommendation from a dog trainer. His stomach problems have cleared up (loose stools, picking at his food) and I suspect these were caused by the amount of grain in other foods he had been fed previously, which he was sensitive to. His coat is now glossy, he has loads of energy and he eats all his food straight away. I am delighted with the impact of this food on his overall health and it is definitely worth the money.

By far not the cheapest dog food on the market. I went for this because of its rating on the website ‘all about dog food’. I love my dog and want to give him the best possible hence this since a puppy. I mix one bowl a day with some chicken and he eats the rest on its own. The vet said he’s ‘perfect’ lean in all the right places and fit. He does get a lot of exercise which is another reason I went for this.

Got this for an overweight dog and it has been brilliant. She took to it very well and without putting too fine a point on it the outgoing product has been sorted and is fine now (unlike with the cheaper processed products). Although more expensive, it was still cheaper on Amazon and has been worth every penny. Says one very waggy tailed dog. Certainly would recommend you give it a try.

Love this. I have one girl who is a fussy eater and we where always worried she never eat alot of the game brand foods alot. She would pick and eat little bits and she always stayed sort of thin.Since getting orijen she eats alot more and after the 6th day I I've noticed her coat is very silky and she has gained weight and starts to look like a normal sized cat. Highly recommended

The best for my fussy toy poodle. He has tried Lilys , Iams and barking heads kibble..........he loves this one and absolutely no tummy issues at all. He is just 1 now and actually looks forward to this at mealtimes. A little bit according to weight etc gives your dog such great nutrition. Recommended by a friend who owns a dog related business.....he swears by it.

Best dogfood by far, after spending considerable time trying to find a dog food which would help alleviate my dogs continuous anal gland problem which required fortnightly trips to the vets to be expressed. I tried this product and to my amazement it did the trick I now only go once a month or every six weeks which as you can imagine has saved a lot of vet bills!

My dog thinks this is good tasty stuff because he's never slow to eat it! I did a lot of research before settling on this brand and have been buying it for years. I'm happy to say that it's well worth the money and my dog has been happy and healthy on it. I feel a great peace of mind buying from a brand about which people only have good things to say!
