Had ours a few days now , older kids using these aged 13+ to 15+.Straight out the box, fit your batteries (4 x AA's) per per gun which are not included.switch them on, choose your team colour or free for all via the reload button and off you go.Compared to other no app sets we have used, out of the box play is just fine, shoot n go.but lacks some features we have seen, lack of LCD screen, so lacks some info, remaining lives, remaining ammo etc..and the anti cheat feature doesnt seem to work (prevents to gun from firing if you cover your hit sensor).Perfectly good play out of the box, the sounds and lights tell you when you need to reload or about to die if you get hit one more time, its just our kids like the info on the LCD screen at a glance, just a choice. They are quite load, so we have stuck some tape over the speaker grill to muffle the sound a bit.We these really come into their own is with the phone app play, good multiplayer features, game play, and gradual power ups and upgrades as you play more games. To do this you need a smartphone and the free laser ops pro app, and the phone strapped to your wrist using the rather fiddly to get on stretchy GEL wrist strap, the team games last about 4 mins and will count you down until the games ends, the app will then show the winner or winning team and all the stats you may like to see, how many hits, percentages and such like.Actually at the first go ,it took me nearlt 4 minutes to get the fiddly wrist strap on , TIP. put the strap on the your wrist first, then attach the phone, by stretching each corner over your phone corner, younger kids will need help for sure, as may you.Another TIP, I wouldnt leave these out in the sun as they will perish, I suspect most dogs would love to chew them up and I imagine toddlers might see them as a nice teething thing to choke on, so dont leave them lying around the floor.Only one player needs to wear a smartphone , one player can add the team members and host the game, but for every player to see whats going on, they must have a phone, app installed & set up with all the players guns (the guns are named by the player and that stays the guns name, I am "thunder kitten") and be strapped to thier wrist. So maybe quite some preperation time for say 3 or more players all diving about with smartphones strapped to their wrist, probably better to take turns with one wearer who can be the game creator in turn. The sinle player app play is in truth pants, you need the optional mount which is not included in the twin pack, but is in the single pack and rifle.Dont bother, its hassle mounting your phone to the adapter and the so call augmented gameplay is pants, likely most may try it once or twice then bin it, there is much better games on thier phones already, certainly don't go buying the adapter for this feature.TIP 3, stay will all guns being the same, dont bother with the larger rifle type blaster, its large, will always be better for that player and its loud, unless or course all players have one to make it fair.To summariseTwin pack is good value for money, you need batteries, out of the box play is pefectly fine and funapp play is good, could be hassle for just two players , but will keep a group of plays entertained for much longer for sure.Only one player needs to wear a phone, but all might wish too.Once any phones are set up once, your done, you can rename phones, and adjust various things via the app, plus see the powerups and upgrades that will become available oer time, there is no paying for these :@)The phones need to have enough charge too.The single player app play that needs the optional bracket is really quite pantsThe larger blaster will just cause arguments as unfair, unless everyone has one, the guns are better.Someone somewhere will do a dive and roll style move and hit their phone screen on the corner of the coffee table.I think my older kids will be putting theirs on eBay soon, as the app play is very good, but I can see they will go back to guns without this, for those that do have more features for out of the box switch on and battle playing. But hey for Christmas , what an excellent present for the kids and Dad to play with , just remember to get a shed load of batteries, charge your phones, make sure the phone WiFi or Data is working Xmas day, and dont ask grandad to set them up.I'd suggest if your new to this tech and have younger kids, open them before to familiarise with the process, so ready to go on the big day.Enjoy.

I bought 4 of these for my son's birthday, and I now feel able to provide a verdict on them. For reference I have a 6 and a 4 year old so my comments are really focussed on yound children - I've included info relevant to older kids, but for specific info you'll need to check other reviews.First a note on the design. I looked at both systems with harnesses, as well as this style with sensors on the guns. Overall I'm glad I went with these - its just so easy to grab them for a quick blast, and store them afterwards, and I don't expect that the extra potential benefits of body worn sensors would be worth the hassle for me.The guns themselves are solidly built - all platic of course, but they seem able to take a bit of punishment. I particularly love the reload button - its very satisfying to slap the bottom and hear the reload sound. In use they have two modes. The first is the simple approach - you turn on a gun, bash the reload button to switch between red, blue (teams) or purple (free for all) and start playing. Each gun tracks its own ammo and lives, but there's no overall game level tracking - when you're out you get a brief cool down period and can then jump straight back in, and anyone can join or leave as they want. This is ideal for young children - you can go from a sleepy Sunday morning breakfast to all out war with no fuss. The other approach involves linking the guns to a phone - either a different phone per gun for full features, or to a single gun for some features only. If you do this, then you get proper tracking and stats, as well as access to upgrades. This worked fine, and if everyone has a phone is worth trying. I found that using the single device worked well - I linked the guns to my iPad, and we could then have a game time running with "best player" type stats. That said young kids really don't care to much about that stuff, so I've rarely used it, though nice to have the option as they get older. There's also a single player mode where you strap a phone to the end of the barrel and play a simple augmented reality game. My son quite liked the idea of it, though you need a separate mount that I didn't have, so we haven't really done much with that.Range and accuracy seemed good - we mostly play indoors but have also played in a large garden and the woods. There's a switch to change modes, and I assume its sliding in a lens or filter to limit indoor output. As for indoor bouncing, I'd say it varies. The reality is that any system based on firing an IR LED is going to be succeptible to reflections - that's a physical property of light. Certainly you may find yourself in situations where you're getting impossible hits in, but overall it's never been so bad or so common that its spoiled the fun we've had. If its a problem then try playing outside - no reflections, plus the potentially longer distances require a bit more skill and accuracy.Battery wise I was resigned to constantly swapping these out, but I was pleasantly surprised. Now I did buy high capacity (2800mAh) NiMHs, but nowadays these aren't super expensive, and fitted with those we were going weeks at a time between charges. It is a slight faff to be unscrewing them, so I would suggest facting in the cost of some decent batteries, if you don't already have some. They'll get used for years so good to have anyway.Overall then, these have been a big win. They're solidly made, very easy to use and exciting for adhoc battles or for spicing up park and woodland trips. The cost at less than £10 a gun is very good, especially given some of the options out there. As such I think they make good gifts, especially as friends can then get together for even bigger battles!

These are some of my nephews' and brothers' favourite things ever. The recommended age for these is 8+, but its always quite hard not to include younger siblings when it comes to using a set like this: my nephews are 8 and 6. It's very difficult to age restrict a set when you have siblings close in age, who tend to do things together. One way to work with a set like this is playing in family teams. They are battery hogs, though - and perhaps worth investing in some rechargeables if you don't already have them - as each handset takes 4xAA batteries.I have no idea why anyone would object to using these as a barebones set, without using wrist straps, phones and the app. They're still great fun - like a Nerf battle BUT with no evil little refills to keep track of (or capture, hoard, allow your enemies to deplete their stocks and then swamp them!) and potentially lose, and there's no scope for arguing over loss and victories as the weapons themselves keep track, with changing light colours to indicate when a player has exhausted their lives. The phone app extended functionality is great for older children and adult battles, but the stretchy, gelatinous-feeling material the wrist strap is made from may be an issue for some people (I hated the feel of the wrist straps, they gave me goose flesh), and the stretchy corner holders might be able to accommodate most phones, but there's no inbuilt protection and I'm not sure if these will stretch enough to hold a rugged case safely. So much fun, I've not only bought another set after receiving these to test - I bought my sister-in-law the larger Deltaburst version to help defend against my brothers and her kids who'd been ganging up on her as an 'easy' target.

These are really good. Over summer me and the grandkids have outdoor battles using darts, but with winter outdoors isn’t a good idea and indoors with darts is definitely a no. These ones and a delta burst are just what you need for dartless nerf wars. Ready to go straight outta the box just slap in the batteries and off you go. They also add a whole new dimension to outdoor battles with a massive range of 225ft. Even better you can sync multiple blasters to a single phone or tablet and run multiplayer team battles, free for all’s and custom games that include power ups and upgrades. Once the game is over the guns send the data to the phone/tablet and then displays the statistics for each player. So far we run 3 blasters to one phone that controls the game. Nerf could potentially upgrade the app adding in more features. So far the grandkids are loving these. Only downside is the noise, unfortunately no volume control on the guns, only in the app. A small price to pay for this level of entertainment. I’d really recommend these and kick you kids into the garden for some fresh air.

Absolutely thrilled with these. Bought on a deal for only £14 and they are worth every penny and more.My son struggles to load the normal guns and I’m sick of losing bullets and being hit !! so these were ideal.Noise is a little annoying but you soon drown it out.Can be a little difficult teaching a 4 year old what the colours mean, when to reload (lightning bolt goes red) and how to change to team colours (red/blue) or free for all (purple) especially when they are in frantic game mode but soon got the hang of it.The apps you download are brilliant and go round shooting robots.Instructions are in tiny words and I have perfect vision and struggled a little to read it.All in all these are fantastic.Don’t think they are worth the full price £45 value but even £25 would’ve been worth it for the ease of use.I’m actually going to buy more so we have have a family battle.

First: make sure you order batteries!Worst Christmas ever if you give these as a gift and you run out of batteries. Each gun needs 4x AA batteries. These "laser" guns fire light beams at opponents and you can use phone app to take score (most accuracy, most hits, etc.) - makes the fun last a little longer.Like all toys for 8-12y olds, the fun wears out eventually, But owning a total of 3 guns, we found that we go back and use them for a family shoot-out on a rainy day once in a while. Saves you collecting all those nerf darts after playing.you don't have to take the phone with you while playing. We fould it much safer to leave phone sitting on the kitchen table and come back at the end of each round and take score. If you get a two-pack for under £20,i'd say it's a "must have"

We bought these for my son as he loves nerf guns but we're fed up of loosing the foam bullets and then finding them in all sorts of odd places around the house or garden. These are great as they're bright and easy to use in the different modes. When he plays with his friends there aren't the usual arguments over who's darts are whose. We use them inside and out and the range is pretty good at about 15m in daylight. The guns feels really well made and look very sci-fi. They are quite noisy so I've put a little bit of tape over the speakers.Haven't tried them with a phone yet as we're not that bothered about that particular feature. We like them so much we've already bought the big one for hisbirthday which is also brilliant

I cannot stress how good these blasters are. Our kids have had Nerfs guns for years and the amount of foam bullets we’ve had to buy is obscene. Besides anything else, when the kids get hit by them, they couldn’t care less. These blasters register hits and if you get too many you are temporarily frozen out.The app is an amazing addition where you can run battles and tournaments, name your blaster, gain power ups and track your progress. We live in the countryside so playing in the local woods really brings these blasters to life.We were so impressed we ended up buying more and have the rifle versions on our other kid’s birthday wish lists.Cracking toys that provide hours of fun.

Purchased this on sale and I can honestly say that if I had have paid full price I would not have been disappointed, My son and I had great fun with this my only regret is that we did not open it on xmas morning as it was so much fun and certainly would have made it a xmas to remember. It could be that we are easy pleased but we laughed and laughed at this for hours. It was a bit of a nightmare trying to connect it to the phones and once we did connect and turned them off, trying to re-connect was another nightmare but that's its only fault. The armbands that hold the phones are brilliant not one bit of discomfort from them. Highly recommend this item.

My son (9) loves this! He’s been playing it with his older brother (15) who also thought they were good fun. So far they’ve not used the strays to attach their mobiles or iPods but I think they plan to. There’s no volume control on them & they are quite loud so it’s worth considering. It’s a shame nerf don’t do other products to work with these such as lazer targets & bases which could be placed in different areas of several people were playing team games. These were fine at the £24 I paid for them but I don’t think they would’ve been worth full price which at the time was noted as £45! Let’s hope nerf develop these further! All in all a good buy.

28.12.2018

Bought 2 sets, giving us 4 guns, great fun with the boys (6&11), works well with most lights off for effect and allocated space for reviving! Have now added app to smart phone which was fun but made eldest very competitive. To use upgrades you need the attachment that comes with the single or larger one shame you can't buy separately or get one in pack. Great fun though and boys can't wait till their friends are round to play. Haven't tried outside as too muddy at moment.

9.4.2019

Brought these for my boys, after getting fed up of the little assassins nailing me with the dart and ball variants. They are outdoor toys now. This does come at a trade off though, as they are loud! Work inside and out, haven't had any issues with range in the house or garden. Haven't used them with the phone app yet, but shooting the end of each others gun can be a challenge (no body panels to hit, like in laser quest). Great fun.

4.1.2019

Bought this for my 6 year old son for Christmas and he is delighted with it. Really good fun and Excellent value for money. He has a few different nerfs which he loves and this one from my point of view as a parent is great as it doesn’t leave hundreds of darts all round the house as it’s a laser version. All round great Christmas present which my husband also enjoyed as him and my son can play together.

5.11.2019

Grown ups! Little kids, bigger kids; we all love it.You can play solo or in teams. You can use your phone as a point counter with an app or just a laser guns without an app. There is a sensor that picks up laser and within few shots gun turns off for a second when you've been hit.I highly recommend this toy to everybody. We have bought 2 sets so we have 4 guns now.Great fun as all can play at once.

16.1.2019

Kids liked it. Probably end up in the back of the garage after few weeks. Imo, I think the foam bullit ones are better and more fun, too much faffing around attaching phones to wrist bands etc, then there is the big worry of kids thrashing around the house with expensive mobile phones attached to their arms. Only a matter of time before a phone screen is smashed.
