NFS comes in for a bit of stick at times. Usually for being repetative. Why buy them otherwise? The last few titles have lacked somewhat but this is a bit of an improvement and a return to form.First up, back to driving at night. Carbon City is a hilly, neon lit metropolis. A bit like driving around Scarborough in the dark. The object of the game is to claim terratories. The map is split into zones. As you win races in each, your team (which you create) controls the zone. The object is to control the map.Graphically the games a bit ropey as is the sound. There is noticable screen tearing, jerkyness and pop up at times. Slowdown is evident when things get heavy on screen. The cars handle like Titanic trying to avoid an iceberg. However, the game is fun to play and you have to live with the imperfections. The wingman is a new addition. At first it seems a dud but once you learn how to use it, it comes in handy. The police chases are still there but less frequent. The only problem is when they trigger, they can take 10 - 15 mins of mindless driving to aviod a disproportionate number of police cars which appear on every corner. Also, every so often your terratory will get invaded and you have to defend it in a race. Irritating but fun.The learning curve is pretty shallow so the game is easy to get into with races setting the difficulty level. Beware, drift races are very hard but fortunately you don't need to win every race to make your mark.Overall the game is actually good, easy fun with plenty of races available at one time to take part in. It is a bit short though and accomplished racers won't get months of racing out of this.Gripes? Well I only used one car throughout which I upgraded occassionally. You need to unlock cars before you can buy them and then unlock the upgrades before you can buy these. Also, the races get samey after a while as the landscape looks the same throughout. You get to the point where you question whether you've raced here before. Not the best racer on the shelves but not the worst and well worth a try. I'd recommend getting the PS3 or 360 version if you have the choice as the graphics are bound to be better.

As soon as I got my Wii I decided I needed a driving game and it soon became apparent my options were limited, either Excite Truck or Need for Speed. I was worried about a few of the reviews on Need for Speed but I was looking for something a bit more realistic than Excite Truck so decided to give it a try. I'm so pleased I did.The graphics are not as good as the other next generation consoles but nobody expected that, they are however not too bad at all. I was certainly pleasantly surprised with them, Need for Speed games have never had the best of graphics. The gameplay similar to past games in the Need for Speed series; with familiar races such as Speed Trap, Circuit, Sprint, Drift, etc with the added excitement of Canyon Duels where you race off against a leader of a different crew for territory. This story in the game picks up from where most wanted finishes. The difference between this Need for Speed game and others in the series is the ability to have wingmen race with you to help you win the races. There are three types, a blocker (who will do his best to clock opponent cars), a drafter (who will allow you to slip stream them before sling shotting ahead of them) and a scout (who will go ahead to look for shortcuts to take). You start with just one crew member and through the game you can hire and fire to create your dream crew and then customise their cars so there as good as you. The only disappointment in game play is the fact that the police chases are so much easier to get away from than those in Most Wanted. There are multiple control options but I have kept to the original where you lay the Wii mote flat use 1 for brake, 2 for accelerator and tilt the remote to turn. This allows you to really get into the game.Overall it is not perfect and some people may not like the new controls however I believe there is a control option for everyone and if its a driving game your after for the Wii look no further. For now at least there's nothing better on the market than Need for Speed.

This game places you in the skin of a racer that used to run the streets of Palmont city. but you had to leave in a hurry after something went terribly wrong. and the time you were away (the time you were riding in Rockport in Most Wanted) a lot changed. the city has been divided in sections and each section is controlled by a crew of street racers. You have to win races in sectors to control them. after you win a fair deal of races varying from circuit laps over checkpointruns and A to B races to drifting competitions (on closed circuit and in the mountains)you are challenged by the leader of another crew and that challenge consists of a race through the city and then on to a 2 heat race inone of the canyons that surround the city. You can still drive trough the city in free roam mode and occasionally you will be noticed by police wich you will have to evade and like in Most Wanted there are pursuit breakers that can keep the heat off you.positive:-they cut the dragraces wich were annoying in previous installments-drifting is a fun new racingstyle instead of dragracing-graphics are very good for a machine that isn't a true next gen.-lots of different cars varying from american muscle cars to exotic racers-a great new style of visual upgrading that lets you shape bodyparts.negative:-all races and gameplay is at night so sometimes it gets really hard to see where you're going-police radio talk is less elaborate than on most wanted (they basically use the same police radiotalk but without the places and positions of Rockport)All in all this is a worthy followup for most wanted (it even shares thesame storyline)

Working similarly to Most wanted as it is the sequal, there are some changesThe biggest one, is that you dont fly most of the races alone, instead, you have one of your Crew Members to help you out, and there are 3 types you can useDrafters: When theyre working, drive behind them and you become much faster, go around corners slightly easyer, and when the member stops, you get launched aheadBlockers: Like a heat seeker missile, they chase after their target and smash into them, making their target spin outScout: Works all the time, scouts go on ahead and look for any type of shortcut nd it appears on your mini map for that race, but be careful, just cause its a cut, dont mean that its a faster routeA bad change,is that the first car you chose decides your crews car class, meaning you cant get all the cars in the game on one profileThere are 3 classesTuner: A street car which is best for cornersMuscle: Not much of a turner, but acelarates the bestExotic: Mainly supercars, these things are all roundersGetting it on the gamecube brings the Graphics down slightly, and instead of seeing the opposing crew leaders open their window and talk to you, you just see the outside of their car and they use a radioCarbon is a good need for speed game, but if you are one of those people that ae mad about how it looks, then try it on a different console

Ever thought to yourself "would'nt it be great if NFS-Most Wanted had an expansion pack"?Well now here it is.The gameplay in the aspect of the way the cars feel/drive is exactly the same. The damage on the cars is exactly the same, the police chases are the same even with the same music.50% Most Wanted30% Underground220% Something newNearly half of the game is built around the same engine that made Most Wanted so if you've got a good feel for the previous game then this one shouldnt be a problem. The Underground2 comes in with the entire map at night. Loved having all those lights streaming past you as you sped through the streets? Well now you can enjoy it all over again. And now your taking over territory by winning races. The new features in the game is the car modeling (customization). Its a little tricky to figure out at first as it doest give you a clear choice. Well no I lie, it does give you a choice but then you can edit that choice making new variations which will take some planning. The 'Wingman' is also a new feature with some races adding a sort of ally to race with you and help you out. The only down side is they can often get in your way and you spend some time cursing them rather than thanking them.Another new addition to the NFS series but feels more of an expansion pack than a brand new title.

I really liked the last need for speed game on the PS2, first thing you notice is the graphics have been improved again, which of course is always a good thing.Need for Speed Carbon delivers even more extras, players face the ultimate test of driving on treacherous canyon roads. The engine sounds are even more realistic than ever before. The name of the game is to race for control of city blocks, You race against rival gangs on thier turf, then you have to take on there "crew" leader in a "life or death" race in the Carbon Canyon.Even more cars including "muscle Cars" and "exotic cars" this will prove once and for all who makes the best cars. They have added even more to customize your dream car,a new revolutionary "Autosculpt" customization tool gives you the power to design and morph your car in every way imaginable. You can build your own crew where you have to choose your crew members and use their skills on the road and in your garage, this will help you win races and they help to customize your cars. You can designate any of your crew members as a wingman, where you can trigger his special skill to knock out your rivals. From the website they say the game has 50 Real-World Licensed Cars, where every car is tuneable so you can customize their look and performance to suit your crew.

I own 'Carbon' and 'Most Wanted' i prefer this one mostly because ofthe layout of the user interface.Being epileptic i personally found it much easier on the eye, i couldplay it for longer than most wanted as the graphics seemed 'softer..'The gameplay is great, although its too short for my liking, i like toget stuck for a bit, get annoyed, leave it then come back with renewedpurpose..! I really enjoyed the canyon, different..Customizing cars is one of the best points in eitherof the NFS games..however i found that if you mess about to long then go and race it locksup..!! The autosculpt feature is a fantastic addition to the game. The game's graphics are smooth and as i mentioned before; 'eyefriendly'..The characters are so realistic i had to look twice..The music was good; only good as i only listen to hardcore..!I like the fact you need a new profile each time you go for a differentstyle of car. This way you can maybe see which is best for you. The storyis different with each one, not much but enough to keep it interesting..The Challenge Series in the game is a bit harder than the one in 'mostwanted'.Overall, this game is good fun and worth a look.

I really did enjoy this game. As all the NFS games it looks great although not so sure about some of the cartoon like touches but you wont see them after a few races. Its very easy to control the cars and with style in some corners and im happy to see the return of Drift to the game just a shame that we had to lose Drag (but if they we going to be anything like Most wanted drags races its a good thing). The game isn't as long as most wanted in races and milestone challenges but it makes up for it with some incredibly hard races to win mainly canyon duels if you haven't got the right car for them you will struggle. The money is scares which is a shame no long can you redo races for more money as the prize for them is very low second time around so be careful what you spend. Again like Most Wanted you can't modify the cars as much as the underground series but the paint and vinals have been improved.Great game and NFS is always a got to own game for any PS2 fan in my opinion Most Wanted is the better of the 2 but there is still no rival to Need For Speed. Thank You EA Sports

When youve got a Wii the 1st thing you need is a driving game and for me just because of how cool it seemed to use the Wiimote like a steering wheel!! I must say i nearly swayed towards Excite Truck because it seemed a lot better gameplay and in a way i may have been right. I think that the career mode on NFS Carbon is way too easy the only really hard part about it is the police chases (you can hardly ever get away unless you really good at taking tight corners) and the canyon duels because it always seems that your opponent it miles better than you and you crash off the canyon thing and have to start again. The good bits though... graphics are ace and the detail on the cars are better than Ps2 in my opinion. The drift race is cool but hard to get used to. i still love the drag race in Most Wanted and was hoping theyd have brought that into Carbon.Overall i would probably reccomend someone to get Carbon over Excite Truck because its more realisiic and the graphics and gameplay are better but the career mode could have been a bit longer.

Carbon is much different to Most Wanted, but in most areas its better. For example the police chases are much better and as in real life if you run over a spike stip/singer, your car doesnt stop(like in MW) but slows down, which it does and with autosculpt, where you can create tour own bodyparts (eg spoiler or front bumper) and the range of mods which you cant do this to is great, along with the vast amount of different vynils. However, they could have put a bit more effort into it, as it isnt too long and the police cars and voices are exactly the same as in MW, but the idea of reutrning to rockport is good. The crew/wingman and territory idea is good and the carbon duels wher you can drive off are great fun,but rather challenging, but i think they rushed getting it out and maybe spent a bit longer manking it.. wel longer, however it is still quite long. I prefered the daytime like in MW as you could see your car and its customisation, and other racers mods, but at night is gives it a real feel of being more realistic.

i agree with other reviewers that the same old bodykits are boring but there are other aspects that are more funpolice chasesmy first NFS game was underground 2.you can only race so many street racers before you have to get on with your career and no policemost wantedi like the inclusion of police chases but you are very limited with the graphics on your carscarbonpolice chasesmulti layered graphicsexact choice of coloursrace events as many times as you likechallenges and rewardsthe only disappointment with this game is the lack of things to mod. you cant change as much as you can in carbon but i can live with that. the police chases are my biggest attraction to this one.i dont like track games and without the police, games are boring. there is something strangely satisfying about ramming a cop car and sending it flying while you floor it away from the next one who chases youcombine the extra mods and cop cars and you will have a fantastic game. come on EA, lets see it

This game is a must buy for racing enthusiasts. The graphics have been upgraded from the last game which is always a plus. The actual game has had some updating too with the addition of the carbon race, new drifting style and the introduction of the auto-sculpt feature. This is incredible, you can buy a part for your car and then change the look of it to suit you. For example, you can make the front grill on a muscle car bigger to make it look more aggressive and you can curve the rims out and in.The only negative I could find with this game is that they have taken out the street X and drag races that you can find on NFS underground 2.This was a bit of a downer as I thought they brought a new dimension to racing games. All in all this game is great for gamers who love to customise every aspect of their car and who love to follow a well plotted storyline.

Carbon is quite different to MW. The graphics on the PS2 are strained; the cars do not look realistic (almost cartoony) and the frame rate can be slow at times. Also, all the races (at least at the beginning) are at night which is a real pain as sometimes it's difficult to make things out. And they're not very realistic either - for example, no other cars on the road!!I think the crew / territory idea is good and puts an extra twist on it but the lack of net play is pathetic. Surely the concept of online crews with organised meets would have been ideal for this game.In short, it's very different to MW. The crew / wingman is good but for someone who is addicted to MW, I find it difficult to settle into Carbon.Maybe it'll come with time but be prepared for a bit of a shock....

I read the reviews before purchasing the game and they all complained about to little cars and boring storyline. What a load of rubbish!!this game has around 40 cars, more than nfs most wanted. The storyline is very intresting and the crew is a great idea.the only reason that it is not 5 stars is the fact that in the previous nfs games the driving was very simple and enjoyable. however now it is very lifelike apart from the muscle cars that powerslide ridiculasly.Overall not as good as NFS most wanted but a great game
