I was a huge fan of need for speed underground and underground 2 but from that moment on it felt like the underground racing scene that really drove the franchise forward disappeared with every iteration after. With Need for Speed Heat I feel like I've gone back in time to a recreation of the underground games with fresh visual and a game changing game mechanic called day and night racing.Instantly after playing a few races I felt well invested in this racing title which course as it always has been an arcade racer so don't expect any realistic car mechanics or steering wheel action. This is a real pick up and play arcade racer with fantastic car customisation and engine part mechanics.I'vealways loved the formula of pushing yourself up the ranks and building a better or more powerful car if you like that for a game then you'll really enjoy this game.Even the story in this game for the first time i actually feel a bit more invested since the police are FAR more impactful and have a very strong presence this time round so don't think you'll be flying past them they will bust you ALOT.so be warned.I can't say this is perfect though by any stretch, the story still feels a little off even though improved. The games difficulty also spikes heavily and also dips at points during the game but that isn't always a bad thing if your an average gamer like me.Also the visuals even though improved could.be better for the day time racing but personally I wouldn't complain because the cars which are what we are looking at look fantastic. The racing is just as frantic as I remember and it does get really intense but also frustrating at times due to to poorly placed pedestrian cars which can sometimes just turn in to you or randomly spawn on you.To put this briefly Ghost have made a great Need for Speed game using the game underground formula and if your in to that then there is alot of content here for you.I haven't stopped playing it or stopped getting frustrated with it due to the difficulty spikes! There is only so much you can do with a racing game in this genre but ghost have done a great job with this one.But not without a few flaws.

Can't believe its taken EA 14 years to come up with a good Need for Speed game. Having played Carbon, Hot Pursuit (PS3 Edition), most wanted remake, World and Payback, I was a bit apprehensive about this game. Once I saw the trailer however, and toyed about with the app, I decided to give it a try. After completing the game, I ended up with a massive grin on my face. The visuals were stunning on a standard PS4 (cant imagine PC,PS4 pro or Xbox OneX), handling mechanic was much improved and allowed players to tune cars handling to suit their needs (as someone who prefers sim / grip style cars, this was welcome and it allowed me to tune cars specifically for drift events as well). The selection of cars and customisation were amazing. The variety of races online and offline was great, as was the way the gameplay changes between night and day (night time was more fun and had more police presence). Biggest plus poin however is the absence of lootboxes / microtransactions!Whilst the game was great, there were still some drawbacks.1stly, the plot felt weak / unfinished. the characters were good but otherwise the story is bad (although who plays nfs for the plot).2ndly, the soundtrack wasnt that great and would have prefered some variety / ingame radiostations like GTA. 3rdly, the police presence in daylight felt rubbish. I get that they are supposed to hound you at night and turn a blind eye during the day but they felt useless during daytime.4th - I get there is some form of ranking, but nfs needs to return to a pinkslip- type mechanic offline (ie unlock the cars of driver's youve beaten). That being said however NHS Heat was a fun game and wouldn't mind recommending it to anybody who wants to play a racing game (also cross-platform play is now available so you can play your friends across PC and consoles).

This reminds me of underground 2 so much. The best n4s in along time. The graphics are at least decent on the onex. The gameplay is standard arcadey racing, easy to drift. Two different modes play in the day or night. Day time is normal racing to earn money on closed tracks with check points and night time is street races marked by highlighted arrows with check points. You can customise pretty much every part of the cars from exhaust sounds to wingmirrors.Night time is the only time you can be chased by cops. It is quite hard to loose the cops when you get higher star rating and if you get caught, you loose everything you collected that night.Which is annoying at times. It is pretty open world like forza horizon style and quite alot to do around the city like speed cameras, drift zones and collecting spray paints/decals for your car.I recomend this for any n4s fan, or anyone after a good arcade racer.Cant think of any downers on it other than i heard the story is rather short but i guess that is if you rush through it. So buy and enjoy!

Need for Speed games have always been a simple pick up and play racing game, i love more realistic racers like Forza, GT, etc etc but Need for Speed have always been a game to just have some fun and easy pick up and play type racing. Graphically its nice, the tuning side is more fun than previous games and its easy to just jump in and play with a good cheesy street racing lifestyle story to go through. Its a 4 star because personally if like me you want easy and fun to play game inbetween playing some serious game for a break, then i dont see why NFS Heat couldnt be that game. Dont expect mind blowing, but its good for sure.

A return to form for Need for Speed - if you like slightly more arcade racers than games like Forza and Gran Tursimo, but still enjoy endlessly customisable cars then you'll probably like this. The races are fun, the day and night modes work well as they change up how you play completely (though the police are sometimes unfair), the graphics are pretty great (sometimes stunning even), and the music is perfect for the neon soaked Miami type setting. Well worth it if you've enjoyed games like Need for Speed or Burnout (or even Forza Horizon) before.

Great game overall, but the main story felt a bit short. Just when I thought it was getting started, it ended.Car choice is pretty good, with plenty of modifications for most cars. Some exotic cars, such as the Ferraris, don't have many modifications, which is a shame, but most cars can be customised well. The only thing that stops it being a true sequel to the Underground series (apart from the name) is the music. I don't think they've quite captured the soundtrack and style of the earlier games yet.

Very good game ! Overall it’s a really good game, there’s lots to do in the game and it’s all easily accessible. The game runs like most of the need for speed series where you are in a battle to become the best street racer in the city but like any other nfs the police are your enemy. This can be quite a task as the rep levels you gain to progress through the game can be deducted from you if your caught by the police ! But 10/10 very good game and a good direction for nfs to keep moving in

This game is the Need for Speed comeback I wanted. The game works great, it's fun to race. The social aspect, joining a crew and playing with friends makes it a title that just won't get boring. The day and night racing mode is a great change. Night racing is fast, dangerous and exciting. It's a risk versus reward system. Risk a lot and win a lot. The game could benefit from more racing modes, more cars and few small improvements but overall it is an amazing NFS comeback.

This was a Christmas present for my grandson. He reckons it’s the best gift he ever got and it’s just fantastic and some other chat about cars and power etc that means very little to me.He does have restricted time on the PS by his Mom and he says his Dad plays it as well so I think it’s a good game.I gave up after Pac-Man and can only play Tetris, I was quite a good Candy Crush player at one point so my ability to give an opinion on the game is very limited.

I’m glad to see need for speed taking the right direction. the last two games were disappointing but need for speed heat ticks all my boxes it’s fun it’s easy for the little ones but can increase the difficulty if it’s a little too easy. It’s a stunning game set in Miami and it reminds me of the need for speed games that I played in my childhood such fond memories. It’s great for new and returning players. worth purchasing without a doubt.

This is a return of the acclaimed street racer. And definitively an improvement of the two previous instalment (NFS 2015, always night-time and Payback - iffy loot system) Here you have a choice of both day and night. The day = cash, night = rep. Cash to buy cars, rep to upgrade parts. There is a story, but let's face it, customising your cars is where the game shines. Its worth a shot at least.

Wow what a game to play and the graphics are absolutely stunning on a 4k TV but they are just as good on a normal TV. The police in this Need For Speed Game are a lot more aggressive than in the other Need For Speed Games. Which makes it all the more fun in trying to escape them I would have liked to have seen the side missions like what was on Need For Speed Carbon and the original Most Wanted.

Stopped playing NFS years ago after they got a bit rubbish, but this is a strong return to form and a very enjoyable game. Story is decent enough, and there's enough variety and depth in the race types and cars to keep it interesting. Really enjoy the difference between night and day. Can sometimes feel a bit fixed how fast the police are at night, though, and that can get frustrating.

The last few nfs games have felt bit rubbish but this one is defiantly not like that. Day racing is more about cruising and races (unless like a donut you drive into a police car) nights are about sprint racing and police chases so you get to pick what your in the mood for. So if your like me and love underground or original most wanted you most probably will be happy with this game

Brilliant... So much better than paybackFirst started playing it last weekend and I have to say it is a huge improvement over payback, I think it has a hint of NFS undercover about it,theirs just something about it that makes it a fantastic game. Plus they've got rid of those stupid speed cards... What were they thinking when they put them in paybackAbsolutely fantastic
