This was purchased for by nearly 3 year old nephew for Christmas, he's very much into imaginative play. I've bought lots of Melissa and Doug products before, so assumed I would be getting good quality and fun items. It really is a lovely set, the packaging is lovely too, definitely gift ready. It comes with a polyester tunic with fleur-de-lis insignia and a “chain mail” hood and sleeves. A foam shield with fleur-de-lis insignia and a Velcro arm strap and a sturdy foam sword that’s durable enough to last, (but soft enough to not hurt when the little knight inevitably whacks his cousins with it.)So if your imaginative little one wishes to slay monsters or defend castles (or just swing a foam sword around)

We've bought SO many dress up costumes and because my son is happy with them all, so am I. Except that this one is a mum's delight. It is incredibly well made. He is nearly 6 years old so the 'chain mail' helmet is a little snug. I decided to remove 2 of the 4 velcro fastenings that fitted under his chin and it took me nearly an hour to unpick them!! I'm not complaining for that hour's work, it tells me how well the product was made. I've washed the whole costume (not sword and shield of course) on 40c quick wash twice, and it comes out like new. I will, and have, recommended this product to everyone I know who has active kids. Well Done Melissa & Doug.

The quality of the Melissa and Doug costumes is very high and you do get what you pay for. We also have the pirate outfit. The costumes are so detailed with lots of layers of stitching with patches and emblems etc. They are also super easy to put on - just a line of velcro pads down the back, so the kids simply walk forward in to it, sliding their arms in the sleeves! One thing that I will say is that they are quite warm costumes as the fabric is thicker than on cheap ones. I am eyeing up more in the range. This fits both my 2.5 year old and my 4.5 year old, who I don't think will grow out of it for a couple of years at least.

costum came early, came in a box on a hanger. ordered this because the reviews for mike the knight helmet were not very good and when you look at price this isnt much more and you get a complete set. the product is wonderful, made so much better than anything you can buy in the shops. dont be put off by the fact that it doesnt have a proper helmet as the hood i think will do the job. not sure how long the sword will last but know my 4yr old daughter will love this and reconsie straight away what it is. definetly recommend this it is wonderful. it does say for 3-6 but not sure if it would fit a 6yr old.

Wow, my boys, 4 1/2 & 2 1/2, love these outfits, they have barely taken them off since they arrived and I must say that they really do look very cute in them! The clothing part is extremely well made and of a generous size, the fabric is lovely and I am very impressed with the quality. The sword and shield are great too, the shield handle is adjustable and they seem pretty robust. Overall, we are very pleased with our purchases and will definately buy more Melissa and Doug outfits if they are as good as these!

Brilliant quality item, my 4 year old can use it for a couple of years more as it is slightly on the larger side. The fabric, the stitching is of very good quality (essential as it is to be used by an excited 4 year old) The foam sword and shield that comes with it are of good quality too. The product comes with its own hanger - so easy to store in the wardrobe when not in use. Got it at a deal price on Amazon and I am mighty pleased with product.

Shame on me for buying a knights costume for school project instead of knocking one up with a machine, as many parents did, but you know, time poor stressed out mother some times Amazon just saves the day... this is really well made, bit expensive but can see it will last a long time... keep suggesting my son puts it on for every party he goes too, novelty wearing off but heh he loved the sword the best..

Great costume. Fabric is best quality I’ve seen on a kids costume. Sort of velvety felt on the chest / shiny for the chain-mail. The shield is tough and the sword strong if a bit bendy. I was worried about the fit as age 3-6 is such a big range. My 4 yr old wears age 5-6 and its perfect on him, I expect it will still fit in a year, just more like a t-shirt. On a 3 yr old it’d be more like a long tunic.

I think I went up a rank in my sons eyes the day this arrived. I was a bit unsure when I bought it because to me it’s a bit expensive, but I have to say it’s definitely worth the money. Much better quality than the costumes I’d seen in the shop and the sword and shield are really sturdy yet soft enough for a 3 year old to run around with. Very pleased and would definitely recommend

Bought this for my nephew's 3rd birthday. He was delighted with it and wanted to wear it straight away. He did have to roll the sleeves up a little, but it still looked great, and at least he will get years of use from it. The quality is fabulous, and it looks like it will wear well. Well worth the money, and would definitely buy other items from the Melissa and Doug range.

I'm writing a review for this costume despite also buying the pirate costume as this had less reviews. For both sets, I'm really pleased with them as are my children. Good quality. Good price. And also nice colours. The product is also safe in terms of the foam weapons which I let my 2 year old son play with. He's tried biting them off but the foam is quite strong.

Really good quality outfit, far better than anyother play costumes we have bought and great price too. Would definitely look at this brand for further costumes. The sword and the shield were great too, but the velvet quality of the top was excellent. Wsh it had trousers, but I bought cheap jogging pants to complete the set. Really good, definitely worth the money.

Although quite pricey, this costume is really good quality- the tunic is well-made and the sword and shield are durable. The colours are bright and appealing. Really pleased with this purchase- my little girl is a Mike the Knight fan so is thrilled to have some 'knightly clothing'. I will definitely be buying more Melissa & Doug costumes in the future.

Fantastic, everyone impressed with the quality of the product, little one loved it too, that much he had to take it to bed with him. I am sure he will get plenty of use out of it. Another child visiting said he had one and his mum said it has been very good and had a while now and still as good as new. Highly recommend

3 yr old grandson adored this knightsCostume to go with a wooden castle about as big as him! The outfit is wonderfully made, great colour and ace hood - he looks great in it and loves wearing it! Thoroughly recommend it - it is big (rolled the sleeves up a tad) but not too big but will last him for sometime to come!
