Looking for a birthday present for my little cousin, I saw this product and thought it would be perfect. He seems to really like those electronic plastic instruments, and this seemed like a good step up.Luckily, I was absolutely correct.The instruments are well-crafted, with excellent sound and are perfectly-sized for small children. As another reviewer noted, the cymbals are not especially loud, but the tyke took to them very quickly. The instrument provide good stimulation for children, and they're basically just really fun to make noise with. They are a good introduction to percussion instruments for small children, and quite like the proper instruments they would use in school.

We've bought quite a few Melissa and Doug toys over the years and have been very happy with them so my daughter bought this as a birthday gift for her four year old cousin.In the very nice velvet lined box you get several basic musical instruments.- Clacker- Cymbals- Tambourine- Tone blocks- Maracas- TriangleThe instruments are well made and feel nice in the hand. In use the clacker, tambourine, tone blocks and triangle make a good sound. The maracas are a bit quiet and could do with more rice or seeds inside them to give them more of a 'shic shac' and the cymbals are a tad tinny to be honest. But overall this is a great little set to introduce music/sounds and rhythm to a child.Recommended

This is a nicely presented little set of musical instruments from the Melissa and Doug range. In common with many other items from the same manufacturers, the instruments come packed in a sturdy little wooden storage box that is only a lid short of being perfect. The instruments themselves are of good enough quality, although the cymbals are a bit tinny and the tambourine doesn't make the best noise when struck.All of the items in the set are either banging or shaking instruments, so the set is slightly limited when it comes to range, but even so my nephew has spent an enjoyable time making a lot of noise, to say nothing of accidentally bashing his daddy with the maracas!

This is a great little set and it's good value for money. We only received ours today but it seems well made and compared to your average children's instruments, they all sound good too. The shakers are disappointingly quiet (but we have a house put of plastic bottles filled with pasta and rice so shakers are not what we need!!) but the selection of intruments and their sounds make up for it. Very pleased with this set.Big Zing time :o)

I gave this to my nephew for his birthday and my sister sort of happily reported that he played with it everyday. A nice collection of instruments for kids, and my brother in law thought the triangle was great for calling everyone to dinner. Nothing seemed shoddy or poorly made and it has been thoroughly tested. The maracas are a little quiet but my sister was happy with that. It's drums for xmas!

Bought this for my grand daughters first birthday. It is very well made and her and her three year old sister, nanny and mummy had a fabulous sing a long on her birthday morning. Favorite piece is the triangle. Very well made and delivered on time. Very very pleased with the product, would recommend it and would buy from site again. This will be around for a long time as it is so well made.

I like this set, it's very colourful and has a good variety of instruments in it. Once all the plastic packaging has been removed and the instruments are in the box I feel like there could have been room for another instrument or two and my only criticism of this set is that I thought the symbols were a bit small. Other than that, very happy and would recommend to a friend

Actually bought this for my 5 month old for Christmas, even though it's not for children so young, he absolutely loves it. Definitely one of the better quality musical instrument sets although I do think that the colour on the maracas and the clapper will come off over time. Overall, I would highly recommend and for us, I expect it to last several years.

This was bought as a present for a 1 year old and they love it (just have to supervise with some elements as is meant for older children). Was surprised at the quality of the product as it exceeded expectations. Also a lot larger than I thought. Would love to get one of these sets for my own child and would def recommend!

This is a lovely music box. The triangle and tambourine are great. The cymbals are not very loud though! I bought this set as I was looking for wooden sticks, as my daughter loves banging sticks together at the music group we go to. All in all the set is of great quality and well worth the money.

Bought this for our little boy as a present for when the 'dummy fairy' came. It's great,- expensive, but great. He loves the various percussion things in the way that children do. Everything seems robust and I have no concerns over quality,- and have previously bought Melissa and Doug stuff too

Simply excellent. My 8 month old took to this with a penchant and we join in. Within a week, he has learnt a lot about rhythm and improved his motor skills. He now takes turns "singing" while beating the tambourine, excellent!!When he gets tired, he uses either of the jingles as a teether :)

looks great quality - bought as a Christmas present and was bigger than I'd expected. I'm sure the little girl (3) is going to keep her entire family well entertained with this! Can't comment on the quality of each piece as its all been wrapped up - but it certainly looks like it will last.

I bought this for my granddaughters (aged 3 and 11 months) and as with all Melissa & Doug products it is extremely good quality and beautifully presented. I've yet to hear the noises it will make but I am looking forward to that and I know my granddaughters will loe playing with it.
