My 9 month old son started to show an interest in musical instruments, so I searched for a tambourine that would be suitable for his age group. This product is designed for 12 months+ but was okay for my son. The bells are contained within a plastic casing so there is no danger of him cutting his gums on them (as everything at this age must be gummed first!). It is a little heavy for a young baby and he couldn't lift it up to shake until about 11 months, but he used to like banging it on the floor and would enjoy it when I would shake it around. We received a turquoise colour toy which was perfect for a little boy, but I wouldn't have been disappointed with any other colour.

Please see my review on Halilit Toddler Music Orchestra Musical Instrument Gift Set for general review of this product. I have dropped a star for this instrument as it is quite large by comparison with the other instruments in the Gift Set. It is intended for the same age group but in my view should perhaps have been a little smaller. It does not enjoy quite the same appeal to our 10 month old granddaughter as the Gift Set instruments do. I would say it would be better for a slightly older child. Having said that it is a lovely safe instrument.

A fantastic idea for baby safety but I must say I think the quality of sound suffers with the chimes(?) being behind the plastic - their movement is restricted, let’s say.It is quite heavy and for my 7m old its nearly too much to hold but I was aware of this before I bought it, the idea is for him to become familiar with the sound etcI received orange and I’m happy with that!

I like the fact that the metal discs are protected by the plastic shield so can't injure, but like other people have said the tambourine is rather heavy and it is weighted more on the disc side so is a bit awkward. However, my daughter has discovered that it makes a pretty good object to throw as it knocks things over well while making a noise.

I'm glad to give it a try! Well made, safe and really nice sound tambourine. I get the yellow one, it's a dark yellow. It also could be a lovely gift because it comes in a box. Despite it is quite heavy my almost 6 months old son is able to hold it, shake it and most important bang it on the floor:)))Excellent service.

I was a little unsure about this before I bought it but it has been a great purchase. We have enjoyed playing with homemade shakers and maracas but this introduces a different sound and variety to the sound that can be produced. It is very easy for my baby to hold and seems very safe. A big hit!

This tambourine is very big and clunky, and my son often hits himself in the face with it by accident. It would suit older children, perhaps 3+.The metal parts aren't accessible, and are covered by a plastic shield, which is why I bought it, but will be putting it away until my son is older.

this was a really good buy. it is too hard and big for a young baby - it is more for a toddler but my 9 month old still plays with it and loves the sound it makes. the good thing with this tambourine is that the bells are in an enclosure so it is completely safe for kids

My daughter had played with these at play groups and loved them. She really likes playing with the tambourine, it's so well constructed and completely safe. It's not as noisy as the jingle bells or shakers that she has, but a good contribution to the music time we have.

I bought it for my 11 months old daughter, it is a bit big for her so not a favourite item yet, but I'm sure it will be because it has a great sound. Lovely musical toy, I highly recommend to buy it. We love the Halilit musical instruments!

Brilliant toy - my 7 month old son loves it! It isn't too awkward for him to hold, is strong and not flimsy so I know that no parts will break off and it makes a beautiful sound. Would definitely recommend to others!

Lovely, safe tambourine for little children. Really happy with this instrument. My little one loves it. The silver discs are behind plastic so they can’t hurt themselves on it. Excellent design & great price

Bought 2 of these as christmas gifts. Sure the children enjoyed making "music" but don't know about the parents???!!!! bought them with 2 xylophones so there would be plenty of festive cheer.

This tambourine was a perfect Christmas gift for my 11 month old. Just the right size for him and I love that the bells are covered as he has a habit of putting everything in his mouth.

bought this tambourine for my 6mth old daughter. Its a fab little toy and its safe. the metal parts are behind a plastic guard so little one cant get to them. Perfect for small kids.
