Bright lights and karaoke seems like a recipe for great fun, throw in some topnotch V-Tech technology and you are onto a winner. V-Tech are not a company to produce simple toys, but pack their stuff with microprocessors so they do a lot more. Some time so much that it is a little overwhelming. The 'Vtech Kidi Super Star LightShow' is a case in point as it has a lot going on for the average 6 year old. There are over 10 various buttons and screens to press, so you may want to reach for the instruction manual early on to get the most of the toy. Depressingly, the six years olds get used to it faster than the parents!Keeping things simple is best and you can use it as a great karaoke and lights display.

This junior karaoke microphone set has been a real hit with our 4 year old daughter. It comes pre-loaded with a handful of songs to croon - including Side by Side, Who’s My BFF and the future classic You’re There For Me (Always) - and you can also connect to an external device such as an iPhone to play music to sing along to. There are a range of features to keep children interested,such as a musical statues game.The system is fairly easy to navigate for a child,with simple buttons labelled with icons. There is also a small screen display which aids navigation and also displays moving images during songs,so it can be useful to teach pre-school children about technology.

My daughter is absolutely over the moon with this product. She is 4 years old and constantly singing either on her own or along to films and TV. I play in a band and do a lot of singing/recording myself and it is really nice that my daughter has started showing such an interest in music.This is the perfect toy/product to introduce and encourage singing along to music. It is easy to set up and sturdily built. It is well designed, both in terms of the easy to use controls (obviously my 4 year old needs some help with things but she's pretty much got the hang of most of it) and also the layout of the mic clip and the handy little shelf to place a tablet or phone so you can plug in more tunes.It comes with 8 built in songs which are not too bad,

My kids all love this, the boys and girls especially my 4 year old who insisted having the first go and predictably blasted out a rendition of 'Let It Go' from frozen once I'd set her up to the track. I love how it can remove the main vocals of a song to allow them to sing along solely on their own although my little one is better when she can hear the vocals or she forgets where abouts in the song she is!The disco lights are an amazing and fun touch and once the main lights are dimmed they really light up the room and my children have had several friends around our house for a 'Karaoke Disco'!! They love that you can press an applause button and have cheering after they've performed,

This has been a huge hit with the children - aged seven and eight. They didn't like the pink and purple colours at first, deeming it to be 'a girls toy'. But once they got started on it, they seem to have turned it into an obsession!Basically, you plug a music player (such a your phone) into it, and it takes out the main vocals in songs so that you can do karaoke. There are flashing lights, and it looks quite good in a dark room.When they get home from school, they go straight to it - the other toys are all ignored. It's amazing, really. The oldest has always been into singing and performing, but this has taken his interests to an entirely new level.There are some rhythm based games on it,

Bought for my granddaughter for her birthday after her seeing it advertised on tv. I thought it was a lot of money and expected it to be a one off wonder but have been proved very wrong. She turns it on to sing along to the tunes enclosed with it, or those on my phone, and the light show is very pretty. Not only her, she's 4, but my grandson, 2 years, also picks up the mike and switches the light show on. So is worth the money and keeps the children amused as when they have friends round, they also like the idea of having the mike to sing nursery rhymes.

My daughter is a singing so it goes without saying my granddaughter is heading that way too. My equipement is too expensive to play so I thought this was be ideal. Its super easy to set up and for the price it can do so much. Love that it had 8 built in songs so you can be up and running straight away. Disco lights . voice changing and audience sound effects what more can a budding super star need. I am amazed to be honest its not twice the price. Would make a singer in the family very happy. If i get a chance I will be on it myself ha ha

Purchased for a 6 yr old Pros:Unit is very easy to set up & use.It works well for a kids karaoke & is easy for my 6&9 year olds to use without adult help. Cons:The sound quality isn’t greatVolume of the backing track/microphone doesn’t turn up very high. The microphone lead isnt very longWould be great if the unit came with 2 microphones.Its quite expensive considering quality & durability.Overall:The children have loved playing with it; I would say I am pleased with it.

My 5 year old got this for Christmas and has barely left it alone since. It was easy to put together and start up, she figured out the control quickly and has enjoyed testing all the functions.She loves the funky monkey dancing game (musical statues) but there is plenty to do.I've been pleasantly surprised by the build and sound quality and all the different functions that mean it's much more than just a karaoke machine although the device holder is smaller than I'd like.

My 5 year old girl loved it. Her 2 year old sister enjoyed it too but too little to get the most out of it. Been dropped a couple of times and still going. Light enough to carry around. Though could do with a little more weight at the base as it falls over easily. Not used it to play own songs yet but everything else worked well. Microphone sound fades In and out a little for no reason. Overall very glad I bought it. Most played with toy this Christmas.

Bought for our 6 year old daughter for Christmas. Her and her little sister enjoy playing with it. Its sounds ok but when you add your ipod you cant hear it very well. It could also be sturdier, it's a little top heavy so easy to topple over when the kids are playing with it. We bought it at the reduced price so worth the price definitely, not sure I'd pay full for it. Lights looks great too on it. Makes a little disco in the living room. Overall a good buy.

Bought for my 5 year old son. Height is adjustable to various heights which is good. There’s probably too many different functions for a child of this age as most of it he won’t use. The preloaded songs aren’t great. However you can hook up your own device and the microphone will quieten the singing on any track so this is great as my son loves to sing along to his favourite songs. Could do with louder volume but it’s fine. Nice and stable and great colours

My daughter already owns the orginal Vtech Kidi Super Star which she has used for the last two years and still enjoys playing with. This model also offers a raibow style light display which is adds to the caraoke athmosphere. You can plug in a smart phone or a table etc and use your own playlist to feed into the toy. My daughter loves the applause button and her and friends often enact pretent signing competitions. Will make an excellent Xmas present!

Gives a good sound (adjustable volume) and the lights are great - real disco! The stand itself is adjustable although that and the unit holder is a little flimsy. This was a great present for a 6 and 9 year old. They are on the microphone all the time, including giving me orders from the sitting room! Overall, this is great for what it's intended for and gives hours of fun. You can play alongside with others or use the various features alone.

Not originally on our Santa list but has definetly been played with the most! Hours of fun for all the family and the sound quality is excellent! Purchased for my quite tall 8year old who loves to sing and was worried about the height of the stand, I shouldn’t have been, it comes in sections and we haven’t used all of them yet so this will grow with her. Delighted with product. Was reduced when purchased also, so a very happy mammy!
