I bought this for a friend's child. when it arrived i did think it looked quite plasticy (which sounds silly as it is plastic but hopefully parents/toy buyers will understand!!) and it is really light so was a bit worried if it would be ok! but i have to say that i was completely surprised at how it sounds! you have to blow and press the keys at the same time to make a sound and it is actually tuneful! not like a recorder where they can just blow and get that awful whistle that is sure to make you hide it!!!! it is loud enough to be heard but don't think it is loud enough that you would find it too annoying if your child gets addicted to playing it!overall i was really pleased with my purchase and would recommend it!may well be purchasing more for my children and as presents!! really really good price i think! It feels sturdy enough in your hand and seems like it will be fine for general play but perhaps not for those that like to excessively bash toys off things!

Bought for a 4 year old. She liked it but didn't play with it as long as I was hoping. Didn't really get the concept of notes and also found it a lot of effort to summon the lungpower to play it (though it's manageable!). Maybe she'll grow into it.However, we all thought it was a great toy and good value. Looks good, doesn't sound horrible or noisy. Each key plays a note so it's not like a recorder or wind instrument where you need to cover more than one key to progress through notes. Since each key plays a note this means you can play several notes at once and thus play chords. So, for a toy instrument it's got quite a bit of potential. Not the toughest toy and I doubt it'll like being stood on or having the keys picked at.Overall, a nice present.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 3 year old grandson. Thought it might be a bit complicated for him, but was so wrong. Obviously, he cannot play a proper tune yet (!), but he soon mastered the fact that he has to use both hands for the different notes and was blowing away quite happily. He also had a toy guitar, so we all had to take turns in being in his band. I think this was great value - yes, it is not the strongest item, but it is still quite sturdy and it hasn't been broken yet. I think it would probably need someone standing on it to break it.I would certainly recommend this as a toy for a young child to have great fun with in the noisiest possible way without deafening thosearound them.

My daughter's Grandma and Grand-dad bought this for my daughter about a year ago and she has always loved 'putting on a show' and playing a variety of tunes on it....sounds more like a noisy racket to be honest, but my daughter enjoys herself!! As my daughter's grandparents do not live locally the saxophone is kept at their house to play with when we visit. Due to the fact that she loves playing with this saxophone so much, I decided to buy another one for her to have at home. The quality and durability is extremely good for the price. I would recommend this product to a friend. I might also recommend purchasing some ear plugs at the same time though!!!

Have ordered this for my Godson for Christmas. I have tested out, and it is quite hard at first to get a note out of, I have a feeling he may struggle, but being one and a half this is probably to be expected! The only quibble I have (and this is from the point of view of a professional saxophonist - I am aware this is only a toy!) is that it works in the opposite way to a saxophone, (or any other instument), the high notes are at the bottom of the toy and the low notes at the top. Obviously I do not expect this is going to bother my Godson! All in all, a fantastic product for the price, am very pleased and would recommend.

RATINGS AREHow much fun is this toy? ............2How would you rate this toy's educational value?..........3How durable is this toy?..............................2How do you rate this toy overall...................2Quite impressive in the box, online, a bit plastic looking, not as strong as i thought it would be, needs adult supervision, i wouldn't suggest children under 2's.i have bought other musical instruments, e.g drums, tambourine, flute, harmonica which are much more sturdy than this item. CHILDREN'S MUSICAL TOYSI'm not sure how long it will last, time will tell.Maybe this toy is for older children.

I play the saxaphone so my kids always want to join me when I play music.I have a 2 and 4 year old so I bought 2 of these and they love playing them.Neither of them have any issues playing them, and they seem pretty tough. My only issue are the notes are the wrong way round (lowest at the top, highest at the bottom), but the kids don't notice this so it's not a major issue (just takes a couple of seconds to work out a tune on it if you play it)They are loud enough to make some good music, but not so loud that you'll regret them playing them!Great purchase for kids interested in music!

It was difficult to find these. Surprisingly. The reviews I read weren't great for any of these toy instruments so it was hard to pick any at all which was frustrating. This is a lovely sturdy plastic saxophone. Kids are so happy with it.Each note is different and you can play music on them.On the box are some tunes to learn which was a great bonus. This is worth buying, it is great value for money.I am really happy with it and really glad I bought it. The kids are over the moon with it.Great extra for the music box. Really wonderful

I love that it is so realistic and the sound is quite decent ( I dont need ear plugs!). I got it for my 5 year old and its easy for him (and me) to actually play it. The only downside is that it's not metal so you'd need to treat it gently like a real instrument, so you don't break any of the keys/springs. And of course, no sharps or flats, so good to get familiar with just C Major and the basic keys. But overall definitely worth it as a first saxophone for a little one!:)

Bought this for my niece who absolutely adores it, it's a little hard to blow down as I'm sure other reviewers have picked up on but after a good bit of practise (days/weeks) the 2 & 1/2 year old can play it better than me! Whether other children would stick at it as much I'm unsure, as she was kept interested by the fact her Dad has one. It's pretty 'plasticy' and seems cheaply made but fitting for the price paid and not noticed by the receiver!

Bought this for my 2 year old for Xmas and he has barely put it down (apart from when his 8 year old brother nicks it for a go!). It is surprisingly good quality for something that looks so, well, plastic. The pitch actually sounds correct on each note. The only thing he loves more is his bontempi electronic rock guitar with light effects (there are lots of different models, the one he has which is great! is the 24 6830 model)

I've bought about 3 of these so far to give out as birthday presents, as well as the clarinet. Since I've discovered them, I'm going to buy the accordion too. Every kid I've given them to loves it. Though it only really goes for kids up to about 6 or 7. It doesn't play that loud, has a soft muted sound, so it's not annoying for parents at all (though they all think it's going to be when they see their kid open it up).

I have not unwrapped this from its box so as not to spoil the gift for my 6 year-old's birthday. But it appears to be well made and, from reading other opinions of it on Amazon, should be easy to squeeze out a tune ( eventually ! ). It also seems great value for money and I might purchase the matching trumpet or clarinet in due course so the boy can get a 'feel' for different instrument, albeit 'toys'.

Bought for 4yr old Grandson after watching local busker, He loves it. As previously read in reviews, the sound is far from irritating and after practice, this toy makes a good recognisable tune (by Grandad!). Fabulous for that first 'proper' instrument and he's very pleased with it. He now wants the trumpet and clarinet! Yes it's plastic, but wouldn't expect anything other for the price. Very pleased.

Bought for my 2 1/2 year old for Christmas along with a few other musical instruments. Not the easiest one to play as you have to press now the keys and blow at the same time. She mastered it fairly easy though. Older children who come to visit can't fathom it out on their own though. She has managed to pull some of the keys out although it is still in good working condition after over a year of use.
