Xylophone is wooden but having said that all instruments makegood musical sounds for both grandsons aged 4 and 18months. Theitems come in a strong wooden tray for ongoing storage. They have hadmuch play since Christmas and been dropped continually but all stillpristine.

I usually love Melissa and Doug products but I was disappointed with the quality. A few splinters that needed smoothing off and under the wood on the xylophone there is foam which immediately got picked at and pulled off.

i bought this for my baby nephew and he was so excited. it came in great condition and all the instruments work very well. as log as he's happy, i'm happy.

These instruments are of a beautiful quality. I was also very impressed with the presentation crate they came in and as it is a gift it looks delightful.

bought for grand sons birthday as his sister had the band box he love to playing the instrements with his sister
