These are nice cutting sets from Melissa and Doug, a really clever idea as the pieces are stuck together with velcro and they come with a knife so children can cut pieces off. We ended up with another of these sets that features bread and vegetables to cut and is actually much better than this set. It contains 8 items to cut whereas this only has 7, and it also comes with a wooden board whereas this doesn't.So if you're looking at a set like this then I would recommend the other 8 piece set as they are similarly priced. Otherwise my daughter has had lots of fun with these and they're great for developing cutting skills!I'm a mum of two who does lots of research and relies on reviews to help me choose the best products for my family. If you found this review helpful I'd appreciate if you clicked the helpful button below to let me know, thanks!

Wow! What great quality and such a good idea!I gave it my daughter for Christmas and she loves it! She plays with it everyday and has very quickly improved her dexterity skills when holding the knife and the chopping action. (I’ve added a lift video of her playing with it when she first got it). It’s great quality wood and such a good idea! I’ve already bought the pizza set for her birthday! She’ll be 2 years old, so even though the set recommends from 3yrs +, (I took a risk as she’s quite advanced for her age) and it’s really helping her develop her dexterity skills.I would highly recommend this set and the “Melissa and Dough” series. Their products are fantastic quality, great value and my daughter loves them! Thanks Amazon for the great deal and great product description! :)

What a great buy! Thank you too Amazon people for prompt delivery. My 1 year old grandson simply loved receiving this for his birthday! He has taken a shine to kiwi fruit especially and plays with all but the kiwi halves are his favourite! He must think it is the most realistic as he just keeps chewing and sucking on them. After a week has passed there is still no sign of chipping or losing parts into his mouth! I loved the excellent quality of this toy and the neat wooden box (crate) it arrived in which makes for easy sorting and storage which also teaches his to pack-away! Since the first day of opening this sturdy gift he now plays with it in many different ways.First day was mostly tasting and gnawing at the kiwi fruit. It was really good value for money too!

I love this! I bought this for my two year old because I thought it looked fun and I would have loved it when I was little - I also thought it would make her understand about her food and eat fruit and veg. She does love it and it is easy enough for her to use as the fruit is chunky and splits quite easily with the little knife. The knife isn't any where near sharp but I always supervise her just in case. I think that she will grow into it as a toy but likes playing shop etc with it at the moment. I think that these are beautiful toys but still very robust as my daughter is NOT delicate! I liked it so much I bought the sandwich making set which is soooo cute as well.

My two-year old loves this fruit. Who would have thought cutting a little velcro dot over and over again would create so much fun!? It's good for learning colours as well. The only fruit I don't love is the kiwifruit which is more grey than light brown, and the banana could have done with a bit of black on the ends to be closer to a real one, but would buy this again regardless. And it is a toy which needs adult interaction, otherwise once all the fruit has been "cut" (in about 30 seconds!) the fun is over. But my daughter will cut this over and over again, and make me dozens of cups of tea with her tea set, when I'm sitting on the floor with her.

I purchased this set when my daughter was 17 months. She was immediately captivated by the activity. Now 3 months later, she has not tired of it and shows obvious delight each time she hears the scrunch sound when cutting the fruit. Personally, I chose this set over others because of the melon and banana that can be cut up in 4 and 3 parts respectively. It teaches more than just how to divide in half. I would have given the product full marks if the quality of the finish had been better. The velcros are not very flush, there are big blobs of glue sticking out, the painting is only fair.

Really high quality product and well worth the money. It seemed expensive, but when I compare it to the quality of other play food I've seen around, you get what you pay for. My son (2 1/4) loves fruit and has enjoyed cutting it, arranging it, serving it, cooking it, and 'washing' it in his little play kitchen sink. It has prompted lots of describing food - naming, size, shape, colour, taste. We also bought the pizza party and food group sets, and have found these equally well made and appealing. I think these will last the test of time; not sure abut the laminate floor though.

This is a lovely toy with lots of useful play functions, including:1. Sorting - sort the fruit by colour, by size, by favourites: great for young toddlers2. Teaching fractions - half a fruit, a quarter of a fruit: this is great for pre-schoolers3. Pretend play - for a teddy bear's picnic, or with a play kitchen - great for all agesTherefore although they say 3+ on them, our 14 month old already loves them and I think they have great longevity in them. They are well made and they can be stored in the wooden crate box they come in. A lovely toy.

Brought this for a friends little girls 2nd birthday, was undecided of whether to go for the wooden or plastic cutting fruit and am glad I chose this one. Product is very well made and will last ages as we all know children can be heavy handed at times. I didn't get to open the box but my friend said it was gratefully received by her daughter and will wait to test it out when my two go round.Overall really pleased with this product and would definately recommend to anyone.

Bought the Melissa and Doug fruit cutting set for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas, and am so pleased with it.The quality is fantastic!!Really well made and my daughter enjoys cutting the fruit with the wooden knife, it makes a satisfying crunch noise! It comes in a wooden crate to keep it all in.It's kept my 3 year old entertained and also my 5 year daughter, in fact they are playing with it now! Will definately buy more of the melissa and doug sets.

Bought as a present for my five and two year old nieces, along with high tech toys and cameras, and have been informed that all the electrical toys were instantly discarded in favour of playing with these. They certainly looked to be well made, and come in a fun wooden box, much like you might get in the supermarket, which just added to the appeal. As a teacher, I'm also pleased that there's scope for teaching the girls about fractions with these, too.

My little girl loves playing with her teaset. Spends hours pouring tea, so I knew she would love this. She got it for her 2nd birthday, initially she struggled cutting the fruit up but now is an expert (within a week), and loves sharing it out. She knows that the melon gets cuts into quarters, banana into 3rds and everything else into halves. obviously she doesn't really understand fractions, but good to get the mathematical language in early

Great little toy. These are all wooden painted items, and are very durable for it. Capable of taking the battering my 3 year old boy has given it. He plays with this toy on a regular basis making fruit cocktails for us for pretend dessert.Velcro holds the pieces together, and is separated easily with the wooden knife. It also means you can make such wonderful fruit as mel-anas or pear-berries. Highly recommend, for children from 1 to 4.

I love everything about this set! It really keeps my son occupied. He feels included and doing what the adults are doing. It comes with a safe wooden knife and the cutting points of the fruit are well adjusted for that. The velcro on the inside holds the fruit together giving it a very real like sound when chopping it. Even I love these toys. A big shout out and thank you to melissa and doug.. whoever they are.

My 4-year-old daughter and her friends love it! For me the biig plus is that I can finally let my one-year-old play with her sister, without being afraid that she might swallow something (she likes to put everything in her mouth!). My four-year-old is also happy because her baby sister can't break, tear or chew this toy, so she actually wants to play with her! I will definately be buing more of melissa & doug.
