My daughter was given this when she was about 2 as a present and she loves it so much I bought it as a present for a friend's child. It is very well made with a lot of parts (not in a bad way) and very intuitive for small people with small hands to use in their imaginative play. the 'cookie' piece has Velcro used to attach the 'icing' piece and to attach it to the 'baking tray'. All the cookie pieces can be stuck together as a tube and then cut up with the knife, organised on the tray with the icing added. There is a oven glove and spatula too, so they can go in and out of pretend ovens. And then there is a cardboard tube for the cookies to be stored in once cool and finish. The variations on this are endless, and of course the parts can be used as general part of cooking play.Over 2 years this has consistently been one of her most used toys!A tiny word of warning - it may go without saying, but the over glove is not suitable for use with a real oven, and is so realistic that a child may be need to be persuaded of this fact.Have fun.

Lovely little wooden 'cooking set' to go in my niece's play kitchen - a baking tray just like mummy's, a wooden knife and spatula and 12 cookies with velcro attachable toppings. You can store the cookies in the dough roll and use the gingham oven glove when putting the tray in and out the oven! Lovely quality, good paint finish, nice colours; there's really nothing to criticise in this, apart from maybe the cookie roll could be more durable. It's great for imaginative play.I bought this set for a 2 year old, despite it being graded 3+ years as it will be used with Mum's supervision and the pieces are rather large - I don't know that a toddler could actually get one in their mouth, let alone jammed in their throat. But as they can be tenacious little beings, it's always better to be safe than sorry, so it will be supervised. Just want to mention that I chose this particular set because the pieces are bigger than some of these cooking sets you can buy, which would cause me more concern.

This is a really nice toy - well made in traditional styling. All of the pieces are attractively coloured and made out of good quality beautifully finished wood.Birthdays are a favourite role-play activity for the preschool children I work with and this little set really supports their interest well: allowing them to imagine all kinds of birthday scenarios, practice sharing, turn taking, customise their own cakes and even practice their basic maths skills (counting the segments, the candles, and different kinds of toppings they want on their cake). The set comes in a nicely made wooden storage tray, complete with compartments for storing the candles and topping pieces. The only thing more you could have really asked would have been a lid for the top of the storage tray, to help ensure that the pieces are kept safely.

My 2.5 year old son enjoys this addition to his toy kitchen. The cookies Velcro to the baking tray and each cookie consists of two parts (base & icing). There are 12 cookies and the wooden tray has 12 Velcro patches so they stay on and you have a spatula to remove from tray and a knife to cut the cookies.Pros- wooden tray & cookies good quality- comes with oven mitt & knife & spatula- encourages roll play- would imagine will last a while as appears same good quality as other melissa and Doug wooden toysCons- might want to check measurements to see if fits in your toy kitchen oven (it is bigger than we thought)- the cookie tube is cardboard & after first use the paper sleeve already moving so I would imagine this won't stand the test of time & reason for losing a starOverall a good product.Would recommend.

This cookie set is fantastic. My one-year-old son loves pretending to serve us cookies, and also enjoys disassembling and reassembling the "cookies" and "icing". I have no idea where the knife has disappeared to, but I really liked it for the brief period of time that it was around! (I'm sure I'll find it under some ridiculously heavy piece of furniture in about 10 years). My son also likes playing with the cardboard tube that the cookies came in, almost as much as he likes playing with the cookies themselves (and on some days, even more!). It's almost like two toys in one.I do wish that the oven mitt had a little hook to hang it up with, but it's not a big deal. Also, the cookie tray fits perfectly into the "oven" of our KidCraft play kitchen, almost like it designed specifically to do so.

I bought this for my daughter for her 2nd birthday and she has enjoyed it so much that I have just bought another for my nieces for Christmas. My little one particularly loves to slip on the oven mitt. Even just putting the cookies in the tube seems to keep her amused.Melissa and Doug products are such good quality - we have several of their toys. I loved that it came with some ideas for educational things you can do with this as well as the pretend play aspect (eg counting the sprinkles, grouping white and brown icing and so on)The only minor issue I have is that trying to pry the cookies off the tray with the spatula is hard for me as a grown-up,maybe there's a knack to it but I've ended up resorting to twisting and pulling them off because the velcro is too good.

My brother bought this for my little boys 3rd birthday. Its a great gift for this age. Its a nice little package with many elements and very easy for toddlers to use. It all attaches with velcro and is easy to put together and take apart. There are educational suggestions on the back of the box for counting, etc. He loves slicing up the dough and taking it in and out of the oven - the oven mitt is a real hit. My 6 year old has also enjoyed it they play cafes together and often make me tea and cookies. We bake alot at home but the 3 yaer old is often frustrated that he can't do the putting on the baking tray and in and out of the oven bit so this is very satisfying for him.It seems pretty durable - my boys pretty rough with toys but so far it has held up really well.

This is a great little product for kids to role play with. Our little one loves tea party's so we brought this so she could pretend to bake and make the cookies for the tea party. The Velcro is tough enough not to fall off and the cookies stick to the tray and the icing tops sticks to the cookies - or as our little one does by making both cookies and flat cakes! Comes with an oven glove, spatula, cutting knife, baking tray and a biscuit / cookie box to pack them in. Very sturdy product, nice and colorful. Our baba is 2 & 1/2 and loves this product & i love it too. Pleased at how well all the items have been smoothed off,so no little splinters. Will look into buying more products from Melissa and dough as they will last!

This was bought for my 2 year old daughter who loves role play. She adores making the cakes and baking them. However, the wooden cupcakes (rather than the plastic icing) ended up being coloured in with the pens and the pens do not wash off. With some cream cleanser, a toothbrush and a lot of patience, I've managed to bring them back to new again. As others have mentioned, the pens are not washable ink (and for those that have managed to get them to wash out of clothes - what's your secret?!) Our cupcake cases too, quickly became scrunched and useless, but these have been substituted with silicone cases now which are doing a great job. Over-all,this is a really good toy in concept and design but needs improving in areas.

I have bought this for my daughter ready for Christmas. She is two and a bit and having got it out for a quick check last night I know she will love it. It comes with a tube for the cookies which can be put together then 'sliced' using the knife, iced - using the wooden topping bits - and slid into the oven on their own baking tray using the oven mitt. This manages to combine tons of her favourite things like cutting and decorating things with the overall value of pretend play and the set itself is presented beautiful in hard wearing wood. Considering the price of some wooden cookery toys I see in local toyshops, I'm sure I'll be back to buy more for birthday presents for her friends.

This toy is brilliant, My little Girl is yet to play with it but i know she'll love it on Christmas day! As well as the obvious fun of pretending to bake cookies the toy is also educational and on the back of the box you receive the set in there are numerous tasks in which you can do with your child using the cookies, mainly counting and colours but also hand/eye co-ordination by taking them away and letting your child guess which has dissapeared!!An excellent and very pretty product, brilliant for role play and no doubt my little girl will be selling them in her pretend shop on christmas day!! I will definately be purchasing more from the Melissa and Doug range in the future!

I bought this for my 2 year old niece to go with her new kitchen. i knew she'd love it as my daughter had one for her third bday, she is now 5 and still plays with it. I love this set it looks beautiful to give as a gift and the kids love to make all the cookies up on the tray and put in the oven or keep in the tube and offer biscuits or count them out. Obvious point I know but don't leave the cookies out in the rain as the wood will split - my daughter was obsessed with carrying the tube around for a while and left a few out which were ruined. No fault of the toy as the reason I love it so much is that it's wooden and not plastic.

I purchased this item for my 3 year old granddaughter. I like the products from this company as they are not flimsy like the majority of children's toys these days and educational. The item came well packaged and it looked attractive, but I thought it was pretty limited in use. Although this is probably not fair to say, as my granddaughter has had fun, making up the cupcakes and decorating them with the pens included, plus she can wipe off her designs and then be creative and 'decorate' her cupcakes again. Good product for little fingers, durable as she can re-invent the cupcakes and she can also play with this with her friends.

My 3 year old daughter loves this. Out of her many Christmas presents this was her absolute favourite and she has played with it nearly every day, offering everyone cookies, counting the cookies into boxes, transferring them into bags, wrapping them up as presents, checking which flavour you want. I was rather taken aback by the popularity of this present. It probably helps that she likes cooking so this is playing at something she understands well. On educational value - we keep losing the odd cookie and then she has to count them, check them against the number of spaces on the tray, and work out how many we are missing.

At first glance this looks like quite an expensive toy given that there are lots of cheaper toy food options about. However, this is a different class of toy than the cheap plastic cake/play food options around. Firstly this is a much more durable and attactive looking toy. Brightly coloured it wears very well and puts up with lots of play time. In additiion to the cake slices you also get candles and various topping options allowing the cake to be customised depending on the play options. It is great for imaginative play - birthday parties; cafe; tea parties all sorts of fun and is well used in our house. A great toy.
