This Melissa & Doug Smoothie Maker Blender Set includes 24 realistic accessories that make a great addition to your child’s play house & kitchen, and is one which my Niece is having lots of fun with. What I particularly liked about this product is that unlike other kitchen play sets, this one has a modern theme to it.It’s not everyday that you see protein powder in your child’s play set, but it is something that your child could relate to in this day and age.It comes with a functional blender which spins by using its dial at its base, a knife with a chopping board, milk, a drinking cup and many fruit accessories for fuelling your child’s imagination. The fruit accessories are very vibrant, hand painted on good quality wood that is both sturdy and sure to last longer than your typical cheap plastic toy.My 1 year old niece currently enjoys roleplaying as a ‘drive through smoothie business’ in her playhouse that contains a window which opens and shuts. It’s funny to see her make the smoothies on her table and hand them to me for on the go. It has also allowed me to teach her the value of team work. While it’s on the pricier side of £24.99 (currently £22.41) you are pretty much paying an inexpensive price of £1 per item. If you compare this to most other play blenders in this price range, you are getting a good bang for your buck as most play-sets make you pay for their accessories separately! Therefore on the basis of quality & value for money, I highly recommend adding this play set to your children’s many toys, as it is one you won’t regret.

Just when you thought there were no more toys that would entertain a grandchild, along comes this Melissa and Doug smoothie maker. It is on the expensive side, but the majority of it is made of wood which means it is ethical as well as long lasting. I heartily approve of these old-fashioned materials coming back into fashion. It has so many different features to keep a child’s attention; besides the blender and the base, there are slices of banana and strawberry, pineapple, a kale leaf and a carrot. The clever bit is the reversible inserts for the beaker, straw included. You just slide them into the beaker, and from the outside it looks as if you now have a smoothie in your glass ready to drink. The blender actually turns when you turn the button on the base unit, and no batteries are needed. You also get a "knife" so that you can pretend to cut the fruit and vegetables, a recipe card, a carton of milk and a bag of protein powder to add to your smoothie. Each wooden piece of fruit or vegetable, apart from the kale, has a small velcro patch on them, so they attach to their partner so that you can really "cut" them apart. Our grand-daughter loved this, and so far she has not got bored with it; she has gone back to it again and again which is the sign of a good toy.Altogether there are 24 different parts, giving plenty of scope for varying play. It will, as the title claims, help develop motor and social skills (two children together would have great fun making pretend smoothies for each other), but just as important it’s fun.

Another completely perfect toy from Melissa & Doug. Everything has been carefully thought out. Amazing quality as always as you'd expect from M&D. I and love the wooden toys. Really retro and look so much nicer than their plastic counterparts. We've had an old wooden coffee machine for years which mimicked the old Senseo machine from a decade ago. What I love about this Brew and Serve one is it looks just like my new Tassimo pod machine. It has the main coffee machine and 3 little 'pods' with different coloured coffee symbols on (I assume to imitate different strengths). You pop the 'pods' into the top of the machine and close the lid - just like my Tassimo. Kids love to mimic and my toddler will go mad for this. You also get a mug, ice cube (to make iced coffee!), a little wooden spoon, a carton of 'milk', a sugar sachet and a write-on and wipe clean menu card. The coffee maker has a little dial on the side which you can turn to choose the setting. And then press the little button on the top. Everything comes packaged in a large box where you can see the contents. Would make a fantastic gift and really good value for money. It looks impressive. The coffee set would go well in any wooden kitchen. And would also be ideal for schools and nurseries. The wooden toys last really well and are great for being played with lots by multiple children. Buy with confidence.

I am not sure when smoothies became a thing, but as my child loves them, so they certainly are something at least. We often end up getting one a week or so. Having a toy at home that allows them to make their own smoothie has proven very popular. The 'Melissa & Doug Smoothie Maker Blender Set' has the usual high quality look and feel you expect from the brand. You get a blender itself, some ingredients and even some recipes.I am used to Melissa producing wooden only toys, so it is nice to see that they can use a little bit of plastic if it suits the product. The blender itself is plastic and that makes sense as you have to see through it. You get a chopping board and fruits that you can then put into the blender.Once you turn the bottom you change the inlay to make it look as if everything is mixed. The fun in this set is that it mimics an adult blender well. You get the fruits, but also the option to add milk and even protein powder. It is amusing watching a toddler bulking up - I just have to teach them to shout Beefcake every time they use the protein mix. There is enough included in the pack to play with, but you will probably want to supplement it with other bits of kitchen food you have around the playroom. Most families have tons of the stuff so you should be covered already.

I have been buying Melissa and Doug toys for almost 15 years and won't stop now if my family keep producing sprogs and M&D keep producing fun, quality toys like this! I think we are all getting concerned about our planet being swamped with plastic, so for anyone with those concerns--go natural and buy wood!Melissa and Doug are famous for educational toys that help little ones acquire new skills such as co-ordination, dexterity, socialising and sharing, problem solving, practical skills and for developing memory, imagination, language and numeracy. Worth every penny for your child to become so well-rounded.This cake maker set includes the food mixer, which has a blunt, blade-type whisk for safety--no trapped fingers. The mixer has a dial to "adjust the speed" and a crank handle to work the whisk & bowl. A recipe card indicates how to make a pound cake and a box of pretend cake mix is provided. The 2 pats of wooden butter and an egg are included and a spatula type knife can be used to crack the egg (2 parts held together with Velcro) and to pretend to empty the bowl and smooth the mix into the provided tin. A "cooked" loaf is also provided. The set is, as with all toys in the range, well made, brightly painted in non-toxic paints and will last for many years of happy play.

I really like this wooden stand mixer play set from the Melissa and Doug brand. The set is well made. Most of the components are lovely, chunky and durable wooden toys and the set combines brightly-painted elements with clear-varnished wood. For me, one of the nicest features of this set is that it includes props to support children in replicating proper cooking in their role play: ingredients, tools, recipe and finished product. The mixer has a lovely working crank handle that turns the beater in the bowl, as well as an adjustable dial for the speed control, the egg 'cracks' open. This is a relatively new item from Melissa and Doug, and although the set is predominantly made from wood,it does include a variety of materials. My nephews love it - my whole family own Kenwood stand mixers and this set lets the boys make their own imaginary cakes, scones, pastry, dough, cookies, meringues... And more, at any time they like. The only criticism I have of this set is one of anticipation. When children put wooden play food into a bowl and stir it, the paint can chip. With this set, the egg parts and butter can fit into the mixing bowl and get whizzed around using the whisk, so all of these components are likely to become chipped.

This is an interesting set that combines a sturdy plastic smoothie maker machine, and cup; with pieces of Velcro-backed, painted wooden cutting food. I like the variety of pieces that go into this set, and that the manufacturers have really tried to replicate the kinds of things that adults put into smoothies: it’s not just fruit that’s represented, but vegetables, milk, and protein powder too. There are three different coloured inserts for the smoothie cup, so different coloured drinks (according to the ingredients going in) can be made. The milk carton and protein powder packet have been made to look and feel like the real things. This does have the effect that they’re going to be a bit more vulnerable to damage than other pieces – the kale leaf,ingredients/drink selection chart, and cup inserts all looked flimsy but seem to be made from a fairly thick, flexible plastic that feels quite tough. One thing I really wasn’t so keen on is that this involves a lot of plastic packaging – with both moulded upper and lower plastic tray surrounding the pieces.

We think this is a really good toy for any toddler who wants to mimic his parents' smoothie making activities. The set included a realistic looking blender, along with various wooden pre-chopped pieces of fruits (strawberry, banana, pineapple and a coyple I can't honestly be too sure of). These pieces are quite large and safe, not so small that they could be swallowed. You also get a fake, and pefectly safe, knife so they can play at chopping the "unchoppable" and already chopped pieces of wooden fruit. Once the smoothie has been made there's a transparent cup and straw to pretent pouring it into. In actual fact what has to be done is for a provided insert to be put in the cup to replicate the colouring of the smoothie created. All the pieces are well made and safe for any child over the age of 3 years. Our niece loves it anyway. A great fun toy that will also develop imagination, motor skills and with any luck...... smoothie making skills. Well worth the money.

I have been buying Melissa and Doug wooden toys since I first became a Granma--bit of a gap as they all got older--and now I can start again with Great-nieces-&-nephews! These toys are a joy and so much nicer for our planet than tonnes and tonnes of plastic. They are well-designed, bright and cheerful (and non-toxic) and encourage so many different skills. Co-ordination, dexterity, sharing, memory, imagination, choice, word recognition, socialising---and of course learning in a fun way how to perform practical tasks. This coffee machine is a great addition to Melissa and Doug's range. The machine has an opening & closing lid, into which you can pop the coffee pod. Then turn the dial on the side of the machine according to pretend strength of coffee. There are 3 different pods to choose from and also provided are a menu for the barista to take the order, 2 little mugs, sugar and creamer, an ice-cube and a spoon.I can't wait for my first cup!

Our youngest is having lots of fun with this set. We regularly use a nutribullet along with many of the similar ingredients - protein powders, (plant) milks (the one in this set has a cow on the front), fruits etc. So now we can make our smoothies together! There are plenty of pieces in this set to have quite a bit if variety of smoothies and there’s a fun recipe card that you can tick off like a menu. No batteries are required as the blender turns manually using the dial. It’s all good fun and it’s nice to get our wee one interested in healthy foods. In fact some of the smoothies they have made look a bit more appetising than our ones! It’s maybe not the cheapest if sets but it does appear good quality and something that won’t just fall apart after a few plays. There are also quite a few pieces in it and the fruit pieces are made from wood and nicely decorated rather than just cheaper plastic pieces.

This review is for the Melissa and Doug smoothie maker. The product as per all other Melissa and Doug products is very good quality. The item came well packaged and very nicely presented and would be an excellent gift for a child. The items come with a blender and lots of different wooden fruits. The blender is also made from wood so I expect this product to last a while. It is a great set to get the kids imagination going especially if you have blender or similar adult mixer that they have seen you using and wanted a go.The wooden pieces are nicely painted and finished. The package also comes with some instructions on how to make smoothies and what fruit to mix. There is also a drink cup and straw and coloured paper to put inside the cup to make it look real.Great item, kids loved playing around with it.Note you can’t make real smoothies in this or add any fluids. It is a toy.

I had been looking for some kind of tea set for my 2 year old son for a while that was neutral in colour and also looked like it would be robust enough to last a good few years. So glad I found this one as no one else seemed to have what I was looking for. My son loves to dip the tea bags in the cups and you can also get them to match the colours of the tea bags to the colours in the the little box which is a nice added feature to this set. Given that this is a wooden set I think it will stand the test of time with my two boys and visiting nieces and nephews, the only thing that may not last is the thin clear plastic lid for the tea bag box, I can imagine someone leaning on it the wrong way would break it.Other than that I am very happy with this set, as are my children.

This is a brilliant play set for ages 3-7,the 11 pieces consist of:coffee maker,2 cups, spoon, milk, sugar, 3 coffee pods, ice cube and menu card. You can't use it with real food or put it in the microwave or dishwasher, but kids can have loads of fun putting the pod and cup in the coffee machine and adjusting the setting to make the perfect cup of coffee, just like Mum and Dad.You can put an ice cube in the cup if you want iced coffee, and you have sugar, milk, everything you need.Children love make-believe,and they can use their imagination to conjure up the sounds and smells of drinks being prepared and served.I know my grandchildren are never happier than when they are running their own cafe and treating us all to pretend food and drinks, all served up with lots of love!

This is a mostly wood toy (except the bowl & turning spatula) & the cake mix which is cardboard. This is good for little children as it’s healthier than playing with plastic toys {it’s natural materials}.The set is very well made, sturdy & quite realistic for little ones to pretend bake. For example the cake mixer actually turns & the dial also. It’s ideal for playing tea parties (along with tea cups etc if they have it). It gives their child-like imagination something to play with.Plus perhaps it gives them confidence for baking/cooking later on when they grow up! Or when mummy is baking & they want to bake with her!I’d say this is more for girls though boys can bake too. It’s from a very good brand: Melissa & Doug, who make high quality toys.

Fantastic detail from the very reliable Melissa and Doug. I really love it that so much is wood and not plastic. Child can add ingredients to the bowl and turn the handle on the mixer to whisk. A lot less messier than letting them help for real but a learning process towards the time they will be allowed to bake with mummy or daddy.A good choice of pieces in support of the mixer (see product description). All on a scale with other M&D products. This was a Vine review but I have happily purchased from this manufacturer and never a moment's regret. On this occasion, my granddaughter was stirring a drink in a glass and reciting Pat A Cake only the evening before delivery. Her delight at seeing this might make her think she has magical powers LOL.
