We bought this set for our train captivated two year old, and agree with other reviewers that this is really good value for money, and is a lovely toy. Building the track and changing layouts is as much fun as running the trains, and there are lots and lots of options with the huge range of pieces.It is fair to note that of the 130+ pieces there are quite a lot of non core railway bits and pieces - signs, animals etc - that may or may not be of use to you, but there is still an awful lot of track and interesting items here, for example the turntable and engine shed.We would highlight two niggles:1. The bridge sections need a solid flat surface to set them up - they use unfixed individual wooden block supports under each raised track section and they fall over very easily.

Ordered this when i made a off the cuff decision to browse the daily Lightning deals. Made the perfect Christmas present for my son.Lots of track, most of which is great quality. A building, bridges and plenty of variations in track design. My son also received a Brio train which ran on the track flawlessly (while it worked) and several Thomas and Friends trains all of which glide along fine.The only downside to the track, and this is really clutching at straws is that the blocks to raise the elevated sections of track can't be fixed to the track. So the slightest knock of trip (by son, daddy or mum) destroys the track layout. I can't help but think some soft of temporary fixing solution could be used (sticky back velcro etc..).

Our 3year old grandson asked for a Brio Train set for his birthday. We looked around and found them to be rather expensive, then I found this!Although it's not quite so well made as brio, there is VERY little difference. Because of this I was a little apprehensive about buying, should have worried at all! This is a FABULOUS train set. Big and well made, with everything you need to get started and it is compatible with Brio and Ikea sets. You can also buy various "add ons" from Amazon which are simply fab and half the price of Brio. This is kept at our house and gives hours of fun - for Nan and GaGa to! If we get any more pieces we'll have to get an extension!!!

just had the train set delivered and first impressions are not great. i hope the train set is ok but the box is slightly damaged, torn by the handle and the corners crushed,, there is no protective wrapping so it now looks like i bought the train set from the car boot sale, second hand. whats up, couldn t you be bothered wrapping it. its a christmas present for a 5 year old so i dont think he will be bothered, but i am, slap the invoice on the box and post it,eh! slack work.i have no doubt the train set will bring hours of fun, but this box will have to last so a bit more care and attention to detail wouldnt go amiss.

We bought this one as I had read that it was compatible with both Brio and Thomas wooden railway. It was so much cheaper than both of those, and loads more pieces included. So we got this and then bought the Thomas train and a couple of his mates separately. It's a big hit with our 3 year old but I think it we'll get quite a few more years out of it yet, as you can make it as easy or complicated as you like and the trains and tracks are really well made, great quality. Very pleased :)

Fabulous train set! Super opportunity for my young 3 year old son to develop language along side his 6 year old brother. From Christmas morning to today it has not stopped. There are a fantastic number of interactive opportunities such as turntables, cranes, junctions, train shed, bridges, and trains! I would give it the thumbs up all round except that sometimes the train tracks fall of the risers that are a little bit fiddly.

It's brilliant. Yes young ones (my son is 3) do knock the track off the bricks very often - I re-build sections about 3 times an hour. If it gets annoying I will build it without bricks til he's older. As others have said, you can combine it with other sets. It comes with a few sheets with configuration suggestions which I really appreciated!

Lovely train set for the money I paid. Loads of track to make lots of different lay outs. Seems well made but only giving 4 stars because of the way the blocks hold the track up when using the bridges. Daughter (3) was forever catching it and knocking it over. Even 8,11 year olds were knocking it over and they were being very careful with it.

Everything I was looking for and more. I’ve bought train sets in the past with x number of pieces, only to open them and discover over a third are nothing to do with the tracks etc but are dummy animals, people or buildings. Not here! Just enough “other” pieces included to make this the only wooden train set you’ll ever need.

This train set was bought for my 4 year old son, he loves it. It provides hours of fun on a daily basis, the track can be placed in many different ways.The train set is durable, fun and looks great, I am very pleased with this product.Not only is this a must for boys, my daughter age 3 also enjoys it.

Nice big track layout with interesting additions such as cranes, bridges, sidings, engine sheds etc not to mention the trees and signs. Should keep my grandson amused for hours. I have only put out a basic layout so far but plan to add a new feature every few weeks or so to get maximum play value.

This is amazing value! So impressed! And my two and three year old sons love it! Only downfall is that some of the bridges are held up with bricks and so the little ones keep knocking them down, but thats their fault for getting over excited! Definately recommend to any young train enthusiast!

This is such an amazing product...very safe and me and my boy play for hours together...I come across it while trying to find a small train set...but I thought I might aswel get a bigger 1 for a great price! Couldn't have asked for a better train set.can tell it is made to last :)

Beautiful toy, really happy with it. Bought it for 2 yr olds birthday present. He was well able to use it. Only problem was he kept knocking down all high rise pieces so we took most of the elevated bits down & left him with one small bridge. Well worth the money!!

An extremely well designed and beautifully made train set. A real success with our 2 1/2 year old Grandson who plays with it non-stop. it will continue to give countless hours of enjoyment plus the challenge of re-building different track layouts.
