I purchased the 'Manfrotto Big Element Traveller Tripod with Ball Head - Carbon Fibre' - specifically for a trip to Iceland in Nov/Dec 2018 to photograph the Northern Lights - so weight and being compactable were key requirements. (as I also travel regularly, keeping as light weight as possible is important for me)I use a Canon 5D Mk IV and an assortment of lenses, so the 8 kg carry capability again is perfect.In the case of photographing the Northern Lights, I was using an f2.8 14mm Samyang Lense.Out in the field (and the dark) I utilised the bag hook underneath to further weight stabilise the tripod, as there was a light wind blowing. This worked perfectly,though it was a little fiddly pulling down the hook whilst wearing gloves.To avoid hunching over (not easily done wearing multiple layers and jackets)- I ended up fully extending all the tripod leg sections, due to the high tilt angle towards the sky and again, this proved fine and worked perfectly.The only negative (which was entirely my responsibility) was that I failed to check that the rubber feet were screwed in tightly (as they are interchangeable with supplied stainless spikes) ... and consequently I lost one of the rubber feet that fell off in the dark.A replacement part has been ordered (£13.18 after p&p and 20% tax added) so a very expensive small piece of rubber and metal screw thread) ... so, I would advise to regularly check the tightness of the rubber feet, to avoid expensive replacement parts, but at least the replacement parts are readily available, which is worth something in itself !I did find I have to be a little more diligent with ensuring the twist-lock was fully 'locked' on the legs, unlike the clip system of my previous tripod, but again, this isn't a problem for me, rather an observation for anyone considering purchasing this tripod.The lightly padded carry bag with a drawstring was perfect whilst out and about and I was still able to carry across my body whilst also carrying a sling backpack.This also ensures that it takes up minimum space when packing in your hold luggage suitcase.All in all, I am delighted with this tripod and I am looking forward to many years of use and at this stage, don't see the need for anything heavier or larger.I hope this review has been helpful for those considering purchasing this tripod?

I bought this tripod to replace my smaller BeFree one travel tripod. This tripod reaches a lot higher, has a better head and is nearly as easy to transport as the BeFree one.Immediately upon using the Tripod, You can feel a build quality difference though, With the Element Carbon feeling not as nice to use. You can tell the build quality is lower than the Italy built BeFree.However the tripod is much studier with its higher load limit, so despite the lower quality feeling in operation, I will still class this tripod as a upgrade.The big issue with this tripod is one that can be corrected. The tripod comes with a 'Arca-Swiss' compatible head. However the bolt mounting the head protrudes into the mount area.The provided plate is designed for this, in fact it provides a extra level of security to hold your camera or lens in if the plate is not fully tightened down.However most Arca Swiss mounts such as a Small Rig or lens collars with Arca Swiss compatible plates will not fit.(fortunately my Peak Design Manfrotto / Arca Swiss plate fitted perfectly, but my Tamron 100-400mm Mount did not.)The cure for this is to replace the bolt holding the plate to the ball head. I replaced mine with a M6 20mm countersunk bolt. The bolt is now nearly flush with the plate, allowing Arca Swiss devices to mount without issues.To replace the bolt you will need a long allen key or some way to leverage the bolt as it is in there tight. Some thread locker would also be recommended as you do not want this bolt coming loose with your camera attached.I used a impact wrench to easily remove and replace the bolt.So overall this is a good tripod. I wish the build quality was on the level of my previous tripod, but it is a sturdy and lightweight platform for a good price.

Not one for writing reviews, I felt on this occasion I should. I’ve used manfrotto tripods for,years and bought this one for weight. It’s lighter than my others and great for travel. Well built and easy to assemble. Screw legs are easy to use and all in all this is a great lightweight tripod. However, there are a couple of niggles. The base plate -a new design from Manfrotto and not nearly as user friendly as their older version. This one has a ridiculous screw that does not sit flush. It took some working out. You have to open the plate all the way open..... and then you slide in the camera and tighten. The old quick release felt much more sturdy. I didn’t like this one at all. Secondly....I don’t seem to be able to lock the camera into position for portrait photos. It seems to only take landscape photos! This tripod is great if you just want a light tripod for travel but everything else I’ll revert to using my old heavier one.

Got the tripod today, have only taken a few shots with it so bear that in mind.Weight in the bag is 1425g. Weight out of the bag with head is 1330g. Weight with head is 1035g. Monopod leg and head weigh 580g. Head is 311g.General impressions are that the tripod is of a good quality. The head is very nice. The monopod threads are good. The twist locks are quick to adjust.It comes with a bag, three spiked feet, a spare head attachment bolt (it is loose when switching the head from monopod to tripod and vice versa, could easily be lost in long grass) and three Allen keys.I got this at £149 and I am pretty pleased with it so far. Carbon fibre, twist lock and a monopod leg were my main considerations.Very happy to get all of those at this price, even happier that it has a Manfrotto badge and the associated customer service. I would have happily paid this for the tripod without the head.

Wow! This tripod is amazingly rigid! I am so sick of cheap wobbly tripods - this one is in a different league, totally rigid and reliable. Everything is totally secure, including the head - this tripod can handle heavy medium format cameras with ease. Mine weighs 1.33 kg (as shown, with the head on, but not including the bag). There are two questions you should ask yourself:(1) do you want the carbon fibre or aluminium version? (the aluminium version is a lot cheaper, just as rigid, and only 20% heavier)(2) do you want the big version or the small version? (the small version is roughly 20% shorter/lighter than the big version, but not quite as rigid)For me, the big carbon version is the one,it's a fantastic tripod for heavy duty use. But of course it would be overkill for a small camera such as a CSC, the small version would be better in that case.

Really sturdy and robust. I use it for my spotting scope in target archery and it's been sat in heavy rain and wind all day long without moving (I use the hook to attach a paracord to the ground with a tent peg and use the interchangeable leg ends. It comes with a set of metal spiked ones and flat rubber ones - brilliant idea). On grass, the spikes make it stay put completely. The carry bag is very robust too and useful, only awkward thing is to fit the tripod in the bag, you have to invert the legs after every use (and do the same setting up) but other than that, a rock solid, waterproof tripod that can survive the elements!

The price of this compact tripod is great. Sturdy despite the small size, and is not too heavy for putting in your hand luggage. Overall great quality (as you would expect from Manfrotto) and I'm really satisfied. Very stable - Time-lapse - video - long exposures tried it all with success. Also even at cold temperatures the carbon fibre was ok to the touch (didnt need gloves!). The monopod option is also very useful.I have used this predominately for portrait and still life work both indoors and outside (-10) and performed well with the weight limit (I use a 5D with L series lenses...). Great product!

On opening the bag within the box I removed the tripod and immediately realised this is quality. I've had the similar q666 copy and this is far better. This is my third manfrotto tripod and all carbon fibre. Feels solid and of good quality. Was surprised how tall the tripod extends to as I'm 6' 1" and don't have to bend down much. This is very lightweight although my be free is lighter. Highly recommended for travel as the convertible monopod is easy enough to change and use.

I am very impressed how compact this tripod is, yet packed full of features. You can remove one of the leg and use as a monopod, the tripod can be fully flat, twist and lock legs, decent head with locking. You can also place weights on a retractable hook on the bottom for added sturdiness. Whilst being light for travel and compact, the tripod can take a load of 8kg? I have Nikon D500 with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens, and the tripod managed this load easily.

The ball head is so annoying, you can't adjust it to how you want it easily. Want to pan up? Sure! just unscrew the- oh, it went down and to the side..It's impractical andb barely usable, and say that the camera's tilted to the side a little, you have to undo that single screw and pray you don't mess up anything else tooFor build quality though, very lightweight and packs really small, although one of the rubber feet fell off without me knowing

This tripod is sufficiently lightweight and sturdy to overcome my reluctance to rely on high ISOs and avoidance of long exposures. It is neatly packaged and comes with carrier that can be slung over a shoulder with ease. It bears the weight of my Sony A7iii and 70-200 lens very effectively.My only criticism is that the legs are so stiff (or the instructions for correct use so minimal!) that folding the tripod up again is quite a challenge.

This is a great little tripod not brilliant for extra long exposures but good for lots of the more regular stuff it’s very small and light. I have used Manfroto tripods for years and have never had any problems this is the same.Look round a bit and there are loads more firms selling very similar units. The Neewer is £70 less. You may find better but that’s best at the moment. Good case.

This is a superb tripod , It is extremely sturdy with no wobble , I tried many travel style tripods , The cheap Chinese ones are total rubbish compared this , it will also double as a MONOPOD , the legs will splay wide open , for resting on a wall etc. it also comes with a carry case . all in all I am very pleased with this tripod .

Only 4 stars for sturdyness as the a good wind will move it. But its easy to expand and tighten the legs amd folds into a nice small bundle to carry. Not a fan of monopods so never will use that part of it.If you buy it take the alum key and check the tightness of the bolts, mine were a bit loose.

Fot travel it does the job as it is so light. its a compromise as it does struggle with some heavy Nikon lens combinations. I use the self timer on the camers just to temper any vibrations. Its ok with a D5 and 50mm or 20mm lightweight lenses. its not perfect but it fills a gap.
