I purchased this primarily to use during flights. It was easy to store in my carry on, and I filled it at one of the increasingly available water bottle refill stations at the airport. The only issue there was that the refill station functioned with an electric eye, which didn't recognize the Vapur bottle as being in front of it. So I had to "trick" the refill station by placing a finger over the electric eye, forcing the water flow to commence. The bottle doesn't really have much insulation, but I found that the water remained cool enough to drink during my 5 hour flight. I don't know how well it would do on a hike on a warm day, though. And once empty it is easy to roll up and stash away.My wife carries a traditional aluminum water bottle for flights, and while they have their benefits they are not as easily stored. My one issue is that the bottle isn't as easy to dry after use as the manufacturer suggests. Because of the material and design it tends to collapse on itself toward the bottom as water is consumed, so the interior walls of the bottle often touch one another. I recently used it at home and a week later, despite it sitting in an air conditioned room with low humidity, it still has numerous water droplets inside. I'm not usually a germophobe but I have to assume that bacteria is breeding in those droplets. And the suggestion of drying it by turning it upside down is easier said than done. Again, because of its construction and design it tends to topple over when empty and upside down. So you'll likely need to prop it against something and keep it out of any breezes as it tends to topple when exposed to a breeze since it is so lightweight. I keep trying to open the bottom section to keep the interior walls separated but they naturally tend to collapse with time. Perhaps inserting something such as the handle of a long spoon that might help prop it open would help.I haven't tried hanging it by the carabiner yet. It seems sturdy enough but the bottle, when full, has a bit of heft to it, and the only thing I had walking around was belt loops. I feared it would prove to heavy for them. I suspect hooking it to a backpack would be a better match. All in all I am pleased with the bottle and I plan to take it on my next flight to keep hydrated while on the plane.Update 7-22-16 I think I have found a solution to the bottle drying conundrum. Vapur's website suggests leaving the bottle upside down on a drying mat to dry. Well after about a week and a half my bottle still had a good number of small water droplets clinging to the interior sides. I decided that the problem was that these droplets were so small that their weight was insufficient to cause them to drop to the bottom (or actually the top, since it was resting upside down) of the bottle. So when the only way to eliminate those droplets would be through evaporation. But with the bottle upside down that would never happen (they would simply condense again on the bottle's sides and it would be perpetually wet). So I left it upside down for a while until the larger drops had run out, then flipped it back onto its base. I did blow gently into the opening, which caused the bottle to expand. Then I left it sitting upright and within a day the remaining small droplets had evaporated! With that problem solved I am happier still with this purchase. Let's hope it holds up to repeated uses. So far no sign of any damage, but I've only used it a few times, and I haven't frozen it or run it through the top dishwasher rack...Update 11/10/18 - After losing my first of these I purchased a second about 6 months ago. Sadly it began leaking from the cap on the second use. I discovered this the hard way by setting it down on my seat on a plane to stow my carry- on only to find a puddle in the seat a few seconds later! I don't think I'll be buying a third...

I'm a minimalist and been looking for a bottle which is portable and can hold a descent amount of water. This bottle fits the bill perfectly. At first, I was skeptical based on the design. A hard plastic bag, really? I kept looking at the silicone roll up bottles and even bought the Aquabod, which leaked by the way. Here are the things I like about this bottle:1. It rolls up to be REALLY compact. The plastic "bag" I was so concerned about, turned out to be its most endearing feature. The attached carabiner on the spout acts as a nice clip to hold the rolled up bag in place. I can easily empty all the water out of the bag, roll it up and chuck it in my bag before going through airport security (remember,no liquids allowed). On the other side, I would unroll it and fill it up at the water fountain before boarding the plane.2. The spout and carabiner design is well done. The spout is not the type which you have to squeeze water out. Once opened, you can pour the water freely into your mouth. No need to suck or squeeze the bottle for water. The cap closes securely without allowing water to leak out. Carabiner is nice because it allowed me to clip to the front of my backpack so I have easy access to the water during the walking portions of my trip. Also, the clip allowed me to hang it on the back seat in front of me on the airplane rather nicely ... and out of the way due to the bottle being more oval in shape, when filled, than round.3. It's LIGHT. Compared to the Aquabod, the weight is unnoticeable when empty.Overall a well designed and manufactured product. It's made in the US. If I had to give it a con, I would say that when filling it at a water fountain, the bag would bend/wrinkle since you have to turn it slightly side ways to catch the water in the fountain. But this con is also its pro since this is what it was constructed to be, a flexible/collapsible water bottle. Filling it on my cruise trip was no problem since they had pitchers of water available, so having it standing up while filling was a breeze.Tip: Before filling it with water, take off the cap (of course), and blow into the bottle to fully expand it. That way you will ensure that you fill the bottle to its fullest potential.

**Update**Been using mine every time I leave the house, for work, school, or other, it's been 18 months and only now has it started to leak.I really liked this bottle, I rarely cleaned it, as I only used water, and it would get slightly musty smelling if I left it in the sun, but I honestly washed it maybe 6-7 times in 18 months! Also, I've stepped on this several times, by accident, and I only weigh about 110lb, but still! My stepping on it didn't cause the leak though, just noticed it around where the cap meets the plastic of the bag.wish I knew how to recycle it.-adult childBought one for each of us for Christmas. Adult children LOVE them and use each day. I use mine only when I want water (no ice or flavoring)and am out and about shopping, hiking, etc. I'd seen a co worker with one and she loved hers, highly recommended them.At work I want to add half ice to my water so I used a covered cup. The opening would also make it a little harder to refill using the water cooler dispensers. I'd have to put the opening right up around the flow valves from those machines and I am not confident with our cleaning crews attention to hygiene. (Somehow I think if there is more air space then my drink won't get contaminated--could just be me.) When shopping though, or WHEN I CAN'T FILL IT FROM HOME, then it's great--my go to bottle, use it 1-2x per week. Wonderful for air travel because you can just collapse it into your bag or pocket. My kids love it, use it at their work places, school, work. They fill them up, partially freeze, even use them at home instead of the endless barrage of cups. They like to use them at home because the house cat considers any open container an invitation for her to have a sip.I would have liked to purchase different colors. We put our initials on ours with a permanent marker. I thought I was ordering different colors, was amazed at the change in price. So, out of all of the reusable containers we have purchased and used over the years, this seems to be the best water container.

Just received a week or so ago; everything fine so far. No leaks! It will be a good travel bottle as it compresses flat, and good when weight & space are considerations. Good volume--you can fill it halfway if you don't want to carry as much water. Two elements built into design which do enhance functionality, but present special issues of convenience/care:(1) You probably want a funnel with a narrow neck to be able to fill the bottle and not have liquid go everywhere. The opening is small; I measure the interior diameter of the opening at 1/2 inch. That's as it should be though, because(2) You've got to be careful drinking from it. I'm used to the "suck & sip" straw system in a rigid bottle. You've got to be careful to tilt the bottle right so you don't get too much liquid coming out of the opening & thus dribbling/sloshing yourself. Again, these are elements that help create the functionality of a roll-up, compressible bottle. They aren't design flaws--just design compromises to be aware of.The bottle is (to its credit) designed to sit upright on a flat surface, even when partially filled with water. It has a pleat in the bottom. It will sweat with cold liquids--of course, so will any bottle filled with cold liquid in a warm environment. One element I'm not so thrilled with is the carabiner clip, which has a metal piece on a hinge that connects with a larger green plastic piece that forms a halo over the bottle opening when folded over. The metal piece seems to slip forward & backward, in front of & behind the plastic portion of the clip. In other words, I'm not sure how much I trust the carabiner feature as a secure way to hold other things (such as the funnel I mentioned above). If the carabiner is used to clip a partially-filled bottle onto something else, then the weight of the bottle should be sufficient to secure the clip (keep it from opening inadvertently). But I think that part of the whole might have been designed a bit more securely.

I've had my 1L vapur water bottle for 5 years now. It remains my favorite water bottle. This water bottle is great for travel. I love to travel and usually take water bottles with me as I'm strolling through cities and running through airports. It weighs next to nothing and takes up so little space when empty that I always have room for it in my purse. It rolls up very easily and also stands up easily too. You don't need to worry about it falling over. It's never leaked (but continue below). Because the bag is flexible, it doesn't need to intake air as you drink water which prevents the "glug" when you drink. As a result, the water flows out faster, and I actually have found that I drink substantially more water when using this water bottle as compared with my nalgene. Like a bong built into a water bottle (lol), which is awesome when you're trying to stay hydrated. On the other side, it's not easily cleanable. Don't get me wrong, this wouldn't prevent me from buying another, but it's worth mentioning. After each use, I make sure to flip it upside down with the top screwed off to ensure as much air flow as possible to dry it out. After many uses, I do usually need to soak the cap in bleach overnight, but most of my other water bottles require this as well. I've never tried putting it in the dishwasher. The other thing that is disappointing is that the seams on the sides tend to crease and rip if you're rolling it too tightly. This is what's caused me to purchase 2 of these bottles. Eventually, I learned that you can't roll the bottle up and use the clip at the top to hold it together- this will eventually wear it out. However, I've had duct tape hold my bottle together for the last 4 years, and it doesn't concern me one bit!Even with my two concerns, this is still my favorite water bottle. I highly recommend it for anyone trying to increase their water intake or avid travelers!

I purchased this as I was enticed by the idea of a water bottle you can fold, and saw the raving reviews on this one. There's a competetor brand that has a life time guarantee, but had one of those screw on plastic pull tops that can squirt (but with having kids, I knew would be lost in 5 seconds or get all dirty if fell on the ground, rendering the water bag useless).I noticed after buying this, it said nothing on the Amazon site about how long it was to last for? So I went onto the main Vapor site, and.........3-4 years (depending on use.) :(So my logic tells me it all comes down to how much you fold it, and it moving/being squished around for will dictate about this time frame. My solution to this is to only fold it when you really need to.If you can, just pack it flat as is. My guess is it will late longer.Another reason why I bought this one was where the carabiner was located to carry the bag, ON THE SCREW OFF TOP!Think. If you are applying the load bearing carabiner onto a part of thin plastic (a part of the water bag itself), there is a high chance it will rip and dump water all over something important if it's caught on something and tears. This won't happen with the Vapor anti-bottle.Stand up great on own.Water oddly tastes better....not sure what causes that. You can see how much water you have left from the see through skin.DON'T attempt to open and drink using one hand..............on second thought......go ahead! See how wet you get your cloths as it flops around on you like it did me. :)Spout you drink from allows for a nice easy flow. I don't feel I have to "suck" on a straw to drink. Just tip and good to go.Stands up still on its own (on flat surface) when only 1/8 full!

I took this water bottle on a 2-week trip around Peru and it was PERFECT! Very lightweight and compact, so I could carry it around in my purse and fill it up whenever we found potable water. The neck is also big enough that you can use a steri-pen in it to sterilize the water, which is great for camping, 3rd world countries, etc. I never had any trouble with leaking (as long as I screwed the top on tightly - you do have to make sure it's on pretty tight), the sipper mouth was a great size and easy to keep clean, it was easy to fill, stands up nicely on a table or whatnot, you can squeeze the air out when it's partially full and it magically becomes a half-size water bottle... it was wonderful in every way!We had no taste or smell issues, and it even seemed somehow resistant to the mildewy funk that often besets my Nalgene bottles if I don't empty and clean them frequently.I bought the 1L size, which was perfect for my needs - big enough to keep me hydrated when I was running around during the day, small enough to not be heavy, bulky, or hard to carry. And again, easy to refill (even in the back of a bus going along bumpy dirt roads and around cliffside hairpin turns!).Everyone else on my trip was jealous of my Vapur and wished they'd bought one too!My only complaint is I very clearly ordered the blue color, and got sent a black one instead. I didn't have time to return it before my trip, so I just used it anyway, but you shouldn't offer color options if you're not going to honor them... grumble, grumble. In conclusion: buy this water bottle, and do it far enough in advance of your needs that you can return it if they don't send you the color you want ;)

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this bottle and having had it for about a month with daily use, I will say as far as water bottles are concerned this is by far the best! It has successfully managed to supplant the Nalgene bottle I've had and used for years. It is slimmer but taller than the Nalgene and holds the same 1 liter. It is truly the dream bottle: easy to fill, compact and light weight when empty, fits well in a backpack when full, (surprisingly) sturdy construction, and the spout is well designed.Expanding on the last point a little bit (and the thing I like a lot about this bottle) is how easy it is to get a perfect mouth full of water. You simply let the bottle and gravity do the squeezing for you; gently hold the bottle up and you have a perfect mouthful of water (if you attempt to squeeze the bottle you will get too much water).Obviously the Nalgene will always hold its place for hard core rugged backpacking but this Vapur Element bottle is fantastic for everything else: hiking, camping, day trips, traveling through an airport (it packs nicely for getting through checkpoints and filling up with water on the other side), road trips, going to the gym, and having water with you throughout the day. This being said you can use this for almost anything you would use a Nalgene for only it folds up to be slightly larger than a thick Sharpie when empty.Having purchased this one I did buy one of the smaller .7 liter Vapur bottles for my wife and will give it the same review. Well done Vapur!

I bought this water bottle June, 2015 to use on a trip to Europe. It performed terrifically while abroad. It was super convenient to finish it in line for airport security, roll it up and stuff it in a carry on, then refill it at a drinking fountain on the other side. In Rome we regularly filled it at the many public fountains. Also, some restaurants wanted to sell us bottled water. If we had any left over, we poured it into our bottle and had a ready made "doggie bag".Since returning I have used it every day. I take water to work (at a school) and use it to refill a cup with straw at my desk. I can refill that cup twice fully from this bottle, though usually more as I add ice to the cup.It has been in and out of my backpack daily for almost 6 months. However, today the plastic near the base cracked and water leaked all over my desk before I noticed anything had gone wrong. While it lasted it was great, and I loved it for my travel. If I were about to do another big trip like that one, or even a camping trip, I would probably order a new one. But for use at school 6 months seems like a short lifespan so I will probably look at a new nalgene to replace the one my husband stole from me when I started using this one all the time. ;)

I purchased my first Vapur soft bottle at Target, overcharged in price but was impressed by the quality for a 16oz water bag. This version is the big daddy and holds enough water for me to get through six hours of baccalaureate-level classes.Positives:Great for motorcyclists, conforms to the inside of the bag.Once empty, can be stored in jacket pockets or other small locations. The head always ends up in the same direction, never have to worry about grabbing the bag in a weird direction. The mouth is perfect for the "thirsty" individual, you don't need to squeeze or had pressure to get the perfect water-flow. (But you can if your that desperate for water.)Negatives:The D-Ring doesn't let the bottle form to your hip,so it's not great for sport events or walking around in public.Edges are a bit sharp, not enough to paper-cut, but definitely can be felt. It's height means it will fold over on itself when 2/3rds empty and standing. Not much of an issue if you don't mind a limp bag.I was looking for a water bottle that could be used both bedside and on the go, this fills the gap and has fully supplanted its use as my main vessel for drinking water.

I really like these bottles. Bought 4 when we went on a vacation. Great because we could roll up and take in through airport security and then fill up on the other side. One of the best features is the carabiner clip that will hold it when rolled and also to attach to the outside of bags. We would put 2 on the outside of our camera backpack and 2 inside another backpack that way not all the bottles were in one. Also plan to use for sporting events where you cannot bring your own water and the movie theater.2 things I do not like and why I only gave 4 stars: A bit difficult to wash. They can go in the dishwasher but hard to keep standing up.On vacation we rarely had a dishwasher and I felt like they were never fully washed because no way to get inside although I suppose this is the case with regular bottles too! Also a bit difficult to get used to drinking from them because they are not stiff and you end up with the edge kind of sticking up into your lip. I wish they would redesign this part somehow. But all in all a great purchase and I would buy again. Have only had them for 1 mo so cannot attest to durability but so far so good.

Great water bottle. Buy it. Don't overthink it! Does not leak and the spout is very easy to drink from. The bottle stands upright even when half full. Some tips for cleaning and drying. I wash mine with denture cleaning tablets. I use them to clean all of my water bottles. The tablets are perfectly safe to use, after all some people use them to disenfect their dentures which go in the mouth. They don't leave soap residue and the bottle is clean and disenfected. I dry my bottle on a wooden plastic bag drying rack.(hint, also sold on Amazon) I blow into the bottle so it opens completely and pop it on one of the wooden sticks. It dries with no problem. If you don't want to invest in a plastic bag drying rack, place a couple of chop sticks in a glass or dish drain, blow open the bottle and place the chock sticks inside. The inverted bottle will dry completely because excess water drains out, and any random water droplets dry from the air circulation. I've had no problem twisting off the top, filling the bottle, cleaning the bottle or drinking from the bottle. I believe that the negative comments are really due to "user error."

I noticed that my kids were leaving their Sigg water bottles behind and I asked them about it. They said they were too heavy. The Kleen Kanteen and glass water bottles are heavy too. The camel back inserts are too floppy. Because the price was low enough, I decided to try these. Both my kids love them! They like that you can fold it up and doesn't take up too much space in their backpack or pockets. We only wish they came slightly bigger and more color selection. I haven't figured out the bottle top selection yet. I used it once for hiking and liked it too. But, while I was walking, I couldn't drink from it w/o stopping so that it wouldn't splash all over me. Compared to the other brands, this is way lighter. And it doesn't roll down the trail or hit your leg hard while you are walking. We are considering getting a cover to keep it cooler. I would probably not put water flavorings in it. One of my kids put some kool aid into his Vapur and so far it's ok but I haven't tried to wash it yet. I am considering using denture cleaner tabs (which is what the Sigg cleaning tabs are) to clean them.

Had this water bottle for 3 years before it finally ripped and I have no idea why it ripped but it did and I am absolutely getting another one, besides the water bottles that keep your drink cold for hours this is the greatest water bottle I have ever owned, I have taken it through lots of hikes and you cannot beat it great convenient and of course the best part once it is empty hardly takes up any room or weight in your bag ect... this is the actual reason I bought it in the first place I wanted something that pretty much disappeared once it was used and it does! the carabiner it comes with is great for attaching anywhere from your pants to your bag. Cannot say better things about it and for the price don't think twice. You can freeze it or let it heat up, I placed it in a stream to cool my water and it did just that and I did not worry about any other water getting in, it has a rubber seal to keep everything in and you hear a hard snap when you close the lid so you know it is closed and the cap is not coming open unless you want it to.
