A cutting board with interchangeable surfaces appears, at first glance, to be one heck of an idea. I found the prospect of changing chopping surfaces to avoid cross contamination appealing and sensible and the actual raised cutting board surface makes it easy to transfer the things you chop from board to plate (or pan). In addition, the base is pretty sturdy and stays anchored where you put it. Those are some of the positive features of this product.Unfortunately, there are some of negatives too. First, the product is larger than the average board. (That can be a positive or a negative depending upon the size of you kitchen and the amount of storage space you have available).I personally would not leave it out on my counter for a few reasons......it takes a lot of space, it's not all that attractive and I don't like clutter on my countertops...plus if you choose to store it out of sight it takes quite a bit of space in a drawer or cabinet. Second, calling the removable surfaces silicon foils is misleading because the reality is that they are PLASTIC and they are easily scored by your kitchen knives. While this product was designed in Germany it was manufactured in China.......and whether it's a toy , a gardening product or a kitchen utensil.....after reading about all the safety and health issues involving products imported from China my confidence level when it comes to these items is less than stellar. In addition, in my humble opinion, the item is overpriced. I think I will stick with the glass cutting board I have been using. It's uncomplicated, adequate in size but easy to store, is easily cleaned with hot soapy water and was made the chance of bacteria lurkig in knife cuts is non-existent.

I bought this for my boyfriend who is a qualified Chef and thought it would be ideal as we have a small kitchen and single kitchen sink, basically limited space.Prior to purchasing this we had a wooden board so were always having to wash and sanitise between food types and to be honest it was too big for the sink.We were going to purchase separate boards to help prevent cross contamination but the lack of space led us to these. This is his review and he kept it simple because the solution is...Looking at it it's a great idea and would work but for one thing, the mats don't stay in place. You can place a damp cloth underneath and that helps a little but it's not foolproof. The size and weight are great, the board itself being raised is great and it doesn't move due to the anti-slip pads on each corner.I'm not bothered that the mats scratch, that's always going to happen and as they should be sanitised before use anyway, they just don't stay on.The 4 corners [plastic studs] need to be designed in a way that lock the mats in place, it's a simple as that.I wouldn't recommend this board until this issue is addressed, maybe they should have given a few out to Chef's to test before running them out, the feedback they would have obtained would have been invaluable.I'm going to have to give it 2 stars because although I like the idea, the design flaw leaves the end product very annoying to use and you'll find yourself swearing at it a lot.~Steve
