Oooh, why do I go back to Joseph Joseph?I must just love giving them my hard earned money!Well, the chopping board is pretty, it looks good and it’s a novel idea, though probably more a vanity for us buyers. It has a tendency to move because it’s not as sturdy as they like to claim. So if you’re slicing some lovely bread or meat and you’re cutting, it can move ever so slightly. The spikes to keep meat in place are bloody sharp too! To my surprise they really are sharp!I got it for slicing bread and my irritation of getting crumbs all over the kitchen bench. So in that sense it’s a vanity chopping board for convenience. Now, is it worth the money?Well, that depends on your budget. It’s a lot of money for a novel idea. But it is plastic and does move. So I am only using it for bread.I have a granite chopping board which was five quid cheaper and doesn’t move, so that speaks volumes!Would I recommend it?Depends if you’re one of those people like me that like flushing money down the loo and like making your life mildly easier for a lot of money? If you have a good chopping board and don’t mind cleaning bread crumbs (Annoyance of mine) then why bother? All in all, my final conclusion....It’s alright. Better than average but if you’re on a budget, get a better granite chopping board. If you have money to blow and hate bread crumbs, meat juice running or fruit juices from chopping, then I would recommend this novel chopping board.Beware of its unsteadiness when slicing/chopping and beware of those spikes!

Frankly, it deserves 5 stars.I wanted to review this product before it's first use I was that happy! I also got mine from T K Maxx for a tenner, well worth it ;) This, the larger version, is a bit bigger then my Playstation 3 if anyone has one to hand. Expect some scratches, as with EVERY OTHER plastic chopping board that's ever been made (why split hairs over this?). It doesn't diminish the quality or application of the board at all, the borders and tilt combine perfectly and work exceptionally. To give people an idea, I have uploaded a picture of the board after its first use. I went to town on it with my brand new - US import - pairing knife (ultra sharp!) and my 9'' kebab knife (even sharper!).It held up fine, and btw, unless your changing a baby's nappy on the spikes, there won't be any blood. They're sharp but not nearly as sharp as people claim, maybe it's an updated version I have..Washing it up was also a lot, lot, (lot) easier then any of the pots, pans and even cutlery I got through last night. An absolute dream, even between the spikes. If you have difficulty washing this up I would seriously question your credibility in any kitchen, as well as the extent of your evolution. It may sound like i'm bias, you'd be damn right! Joseph Joseph (one guy) and his mate John Brauer designed this and i'll be looking out for more of their products but at a reasonable price. Don't pay above £11-12 for it.

I love to cook, and I consider myself a great home chef (I also have the approval of others), and you know what they say: "behind a great chef there's always a great cutting board" (and an excellent set of knifes, but that's another story).Joseph Joseph's Carve Plus is exactly that, does a good job, and the silicone thing around the edges is excellent in sticking to the kitchen counter. The plain surface side is ideal and with a good working area, although it scratches easily (but my knifes are always super sharp). On the other side - literally - the spikes are indeed useful for carving all sort of stuff, very resistant and pointy, but you can easily hurt yourself if by accident, let's say: bash your hand on to it...I found myself using this function more than I was expecting, the carving not the bashing-your-hand-on-to-it thing. So, if you are looking into a nice cutting board, give this one a try.

I have been looking for a good quality chopping board for ages and this has been on my Amazon wish list for a while.By a stroke of luck I came across it in House Of Fraser on sale for £7.50.I love the fact that whatever you're chopping stays on the board and doesn't end up all over the worktop because of the raised edges.I know it sounds crazy but I actually look forward to chopping things now.I haven't yet used the side with the spikes for joints of meat but I can see that all the lovely meat juices would stay on the board so they can be added to the gravy,I would recommend this chopping board and would have been happy to pay full price for it. After all if it's good enough for Nigella,it's good enough for me, although I'm more a Domestic Harlot than Domestic Goddess.

Apart from loving the colour, a lovely shade of green, this board is fantastic. The spikes on the meat carving side hold the meat in place while you carve. Absolutely the best carving board ever. The meat doesn't slip at all and the meat carves perfectly whilst all the juices are caught on the board and do not spill. The board is easy to clean using a round washing up brush.Did I mention that the board is also non slip on both sides?Buy this, you won't be disappointed. Makes carving a pleasure, not a chore.I use the other side for cutting bread. Again, the excellent design means all the crumbs stay on the board. The board is easy to clean and so far, no knife marks on it,despite using newly sharpened knives.I highly recommend this product.

This is a replacement for another one of these that I've had for five years. There's not even anything wrong with the old one I'm just super lazy sometimes and would rather get a new board out of the cupboard than do the dishes. There. Now you know all my secrets.Really, it does almost exactly what you'd expect a board to do. Old one lasted five years (and still going strong despite heavy, slightly overenthusiastic use and a set of sharp as FORK globals that someone gave me in the mistaken idea that I was too sensible to slice chunks out of my own fingers. Spoiler alert: I'm not but that's a different review) and I'm buying one exactly the same.

My husband had complained many times about the metal carving board we were using as it blunted the knife. When I found this plastic one, he was very pleased. We have been using it regularly for about 6 weeks and so far it has performed wonderfully. We have been careful not to carve into the plastic prongs so far!The size was large enough to cope comfortably with the Christmas day bird.Good points: dishwasher safe, does not blunt the carving knife, collects juices from meat without them spilling onto the worktop or dining table. No bad points found yet although, I am mindful of other reviewers comments re softness of the plastic.

This is a great idea - chop on one side, carve on the other. I'd definately recommend the large size one - it's a good size for a family, but not too huge. I really like it because it is light weight and easy to clean. The down side is that it is dishwasher proof, but I find it hard to fit into our fairly normal sized Bosh dishwasher. Also, as other people have said, it does mark very easily. Not an uncommon problem with plastic boards, and means it doesn't blunt knives, but probably might not last as long as some others. Time will tell! I also like the non-slip edging which keeps the board well in place.

Fits in the drawer, does what it says on the tin. To all those reviewers that complained that knife cuts were left in the surface, I have only one word... REALLY? This is a PLASTIC product. All kitchen knives will leave a Mark if you insist on applying pressure to any surface other than metal. Just use a very sharp knife and you won’t need to apply pressure to cut through your meat. Think of ‘stroking’ the cutting board as OBVIOUSLY applying pressure to a plastic board with a sherp metal instrument (for example a kitchen knife) will leave a Mark. It’s not rocket science ?

I got this chopping and slicing board because I keep sharpening my knives, and have decided to get another ceramic know and using this board means the edge won’t be damaged by cutting on a plate.I would recommend this to anyone but the side to cut a roast joint grips well, but not sure yet whether the ‘spikes’ are too long yet?I am alone live alone and eat maybe three times a week, and I still have not cleaned this board from two weeks back as I was too ill to stand at the sink. Thats why I am not sure whether the spikes are too long or not.Take caremrbluenun

I love all things Joseph Joseph and I’m just happy that I am in a position to buy their products now.Did I need this? NO. Did I want this? Yes.Plus added benefit of stopping the OH flippin out over moving joints and spilt juice. It looks lovely and it works a treat. The spikes in the middle are sharp enough that it holds the meat in place, and allows a sturdy base for carving. But the aspect that has saved a lot of swearing in the house is the lip of the board which collects all the juice and is easily manoeuvred into gravy pan.Touch!

Best chopping board I have come across so far! Meat now stays in place while cutting, drippings all run to one side and: super easy to clean. I went looking for a new board when my husband kept muttering and swearing while cutting roasts and chickens. I was fed up with that and this board has done wonders. He now is happy in the kitchen again and the atmosphere during the meal is fantastic. What a way to increase our relationship! Never thought a chopping board would make such a difference.

I bought this having seen my brother using one for the turkey at Christmas. Its a good size so can accommodate the largest joint or turkey. The integral points on one side stop the joint sliding around and the sloping format allows the meat juices to be easily collected and poured into the gravy. The flexible edges stop the board from skidding around in use and being plastic, it does not damage the cutting edge of the carving knife.Thoroughly recommend it.

This replaced an old wooden cutting board which, despite me adding non-slip feet pads, was never satisfactory because they kept coming off in the wash. This new board, apart from having two workable surfaces, does not move even when faced with a tough cut of meat. Don't let the seemingly ineffective spikes fool you. They are very sharp.Nice colour (red model) and will last for a long while and always look clean and hygienic after a wash.

If you roast meat, then this is the board for you. It's just the right size for a large chicken or a beef joint, and not only allows you to let the meat rest before serving, but also lets the juices run off without going all over the place. The spikes are sharp, and hold the meat well. One change could be to make the edge on the slanted side a bit higher and add a spigot to drain of the juice, as pouring can be a bit messy.
