We have used these pans for over 30 years and have finally started to replace our volcanic orange pans, not because they have worn out, but having spent a small fortune on a new kitchen, we felt that the existing pans did not match and therefore as the intenral lining were starting to deteriorate on our more regularly used pans, we felt that it was time to change them for pans which match our new kitchen colour scheme. We intend to still use the original larger pots as they are perfectly serviceable, but the 20 cm, 22cm and frying pans are going to be offered to our local charity shop which will secure a good price for our well used, but durable and very serviceable pans.So how do we use them?We have an AGA, which we use for around 8 months of the year and for the remaining 4 months, we use an induction hob and a fan heated electric oven. In and on types of cooker, these pans provide an outstanding cooking utensil. This new version has only marginally changed. The fabric is still cast iron, the enamel is durable (our original pans are testament to this) in every way they are the same with the subtle exception that the handles are larger, allowing for the pan to be lifted with thicker oven gloves and the knob on the lid is now stainless steel, replacing the bakelite/vulcanite on our original pans. One last thing, we have purchased the teal variant and find that this colour is particularly pleasing on the eye - shame that we couldn't just get the originals re-enamelled1

Le Creuset's reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very well-deserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. My oldest Le Creuset, very similar to this one, is over fifteen years old and despite quite regular use is as effective and useful as ever (with some expected slight discolouring that doesn't detract from its performance). The Le Creuset casseroles as easy to use, whether on the hob or in the oven. Just as importantly, they are extremely easy to clean. I've cooked lots of different things, I've occasionally over-cooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. I'd highly recommend that anyone buys one of these as it'll probably last you decades. I like how over the years the handle on the lid has changed to become metal, which should make it harder to break. I did once drop a lid and break a bit off the handle, but this should not be an issue with this latest Le Creuset casserole.A slight issue is that the listing (at the time of writing) lists the capacity at 8.4 litres, whereas the label on the box states 8.1 litres. A small difference but perhaps something to be aware of.

I have collected quite a range of Le Creuset gear. Its all good quality but the quality is sometimes non essential given the cost e.g. a super solid heavy pot is not really needed to boil an egg, warm milk or cook veg. Any pot will do for that, why take the time and energy to heat through the heavy Creuset pot ?But this casserole is one of those buy once buy well and it lasts forever things , a superb large pot for long term simmering on a low gas either on the hob or in the oven. It retain’s heat and (along with a Le Creuset silicon mat https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creuset-Silicone-Cool-Tool-20-5/dp/B004BKIG5Q/ref=sr_1_1) can also be used as a serving dish on the table for stews, casseroles, curries etc. The only weak possible point I can see is the handle on the lid - but these are replaceable in any case. The other Le Cresuet item I think is excellent is the solid one piece griddle pan. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creuset-20193260900422-Signature-Griddle-Pan-26/dp/B00HYXO7J6/ref=sr_1_13 I have two so I can do 4 steaks at a time. (A square one may fit steaks better) I can’t see how these won’t last forever. MIne have been going near on 20 years so far and all good !

Appearance: I have the 24 and the 26cm in Marseille Blue. First off the colour is gorgeous and looks really lovely on the table.Weight : I was expecting it to be very heavy but I have been able to lift both with food with no problems. It definitely is heavier if you lift it with the lid. But I haven't struggled to lift it.Price v performance : I dithered about buying LC for the longest time because of the price and my first purchase of a Dutch oven was Sainsbury's Home version. I had to replace it due to the enamel chipping off. I decided to bite the bullet and buy LC. What a revelation! The food doesn't stick to the pot, the heat distribution is excellent and cleaning it is a breeze.Definitely don't regret buying it, and I went on to buy another size. Whilst it is expensive it is definitely value for the money as I can see this lasting for years. The food stays warm in the pot for ages and cooking the food on a lower heat actually tastes better as all the flavours from spices and aromatics are gently absorbed over a longer time.Don't let the price put you off. I wish I had bought these pots years ago.

Bought Apr.2017. Used regularly. Cooks well. Takes high heat. Robust. Looks great. Dishwashers well. The 24cm almond-coloured one is a good size for a small family. It feels the same as my old one in regular use from Feb.1981 - just as robust, cooks just as well, cleans just as easily, but the 2017 one is easier to heft while wearing oven mitts due to Le Creuset making the side and lid handles bigger, making the design now pretty much perfect. The almond shade of cream is lovely (Amazon incorrectly says I bought cerise). It has a definite 3-dimensional look due to Le Creuset's trademark gradated shading from top to bottom (imitations tend to be the same shade all over, looking flatter). It should last you a lifetime with care. It may last you even with some mistreatment, as my old one endured well despite having stuff burned on, being dropped or scraped with metal tools. My old one is still in use, there's nothing wrong with it save slight staining on the inside base - I handed it on only because I got a different colour (this almond one) in an Amazon sale. Recommended.

Just received my Le Creuset Casserole. The Amazon Delivery man brought it to my door (3rd floor, no lift) which is nice as opposed to other companies who buzz you and leave items down the hall way / common parts.I was longing to buy a proper casserole and nothing but Le Creuset could do it for me. I know that there are some cheap copies made in China but it's nothing compared to the know how of the traditional handmade manufacturing / craft Made in France since 1925 still perpetrated today. I also choose the original Volcanic colour to keep with the tradition. I am French so maybe I am biased, but in France I used to cook in a Le Creuset casserole so would never consider a cheap alternative when I want to put all the love in my cooking to prepare delicious meals. After having unpacked it,I washed it as instructed and it's now on the hob cooking a beef ragu that I have just prepared and that is gently simmering...I choose the 22 cm: perfect size for 4 to 5 person meal and not too heavy.Highly recommended and lifetime investment. A must have in the kitchen.

I was always in love with Le Creuset because of the the quality. Yes, it's expensive, but as my mother always said: I am not wealthy enough to buy cheap. Le Creuset is an investment for life. I am not only a hardcore foodie (travelling around the world to eat at the most exciting restaurants), I also work with top chefs as their international PR (my clients are worldwide). So food means a lot to me! I bought this piece for cooking - on a stove and in the oven. I liked the fact that it can be used for both and that it has an amazing heat distribution, is durable and beautiful. But then a month ago I started also baking my own bread. I got obsessed with bread making (it relaxes and it is very rewarding when you see your results)and one of the reasons my results are so good, is this casserole! You need to keep the humidity in the bread when baking, and a very high heath. And this one is an ideal piece for great results. When my daughter moves on her own, this will be the gift she will receive for me. This says it all!

Just what you would expect from Creuset, second to none quality - which is reflected in the price and the colour is just beautiful. Not yet cooked with it, but their reputation is such that I am sure it will a great asset to the kitchen !Update: Have now used several times and have found it to be excellent. I've done several stews, curries and chicken dishes in it - all on top of the stove, not any in the oven. Keep the temperature of your hob/stove on low as the heat radiates really well and then you won't burn anything. When you have finished cooking let it cool down before you wash it - don't be tempted to plunge it into cold water as you may damage it.Cleaned up really easy and it produces lovely food - well technically the chef does the meat was very tender on all occasions.Plenty big enough to get 10 chicken breasts in and all the rest of the ingredients.

I can honestly say this magic pot has changed my life, making it so easy to cook up great stews and perfect ragu. I love the way you can put the heavy lid on and any evaporated liquids from frying base vegetables such as onions and carrots get sort of recirculated around and keeps everything moist and cooking perfectly. Combine this with the heavy base, meaning an even heat, and ingenious ceramic coating mean it's almost impossible to get anything stuck to the bottom and only very little oil is needed at the beginning for an outstanding gentle fry to soften vegetables. Add to this that once the base is made up and any stock, meat etc. is added,I can put the lid on and place it in the oven to take care of itself for the next couple of hours while the my mouth waters at the delicious smells coming from the kitchen, make this one of my favourite Amazon purchases.

This is my first piece of Le Creuset and I have to say I love it. Prior to purchasing I looked at other similar casserole pots. So happy I chose this casserole pot. I cooked a fish stew and it came out perfect. The heating is even, and the pot keeps the food hot for a long time while on the table. Other companies make similar casserole pots made in China and the only pot I looked at in person was one that Tescos was selling for 45 pounds. That pot was called Tesco’s own. It was smaller than this pot(26cm) and felt much heavier. I did not think this pot was too heavy at all however it’s a sturdy pot and certainly not for frail people, but otherwise ok. You have to dry inside and out when finished,no scrubbing with abrasive sponges or scouring pads. There is no reason this can’t last for years. You really do get what you pay for.

We have a large iron casserole pan made by Chasseur - had it years and it is very good. So when needing a smaller one, we went for the same brand; sadly, what was sent had a matt-black finish on the inside, not nearly as good as the enameled finish on our original Chasseur. The Chasseur went back and we ordered this Le Creuset instead. Now, I'm sure you pay something for the name and it was nearly twice as expensive as the Chasseur but the quality is very good indeed. The exterior finish - ours is Marseille Blue - is very well applied with attractive colour variation. But more important is the smooth interior enamel, as this makes it so easy to clean. So, despite the price,we are very pleased with this pan and it works very well - slow cook stew or bread, both equally good. Can't fault it.

I am lucky enough to own several Le Creuset cast iron pans and to my mind, there are none finer. Versatile, very hard wearing, heat retaining, easy to clean and attractive. Of course, the larger ones can be heavy but this is a small price to pay for total reliability. There are easy do's and dont's in owning and caring for cast iron pans but once learned, your pan WILL last a lifetime.I purchased this latest pan because one of a similar size given as a gift some years ago, and I hasten to add NOT a Le Creuset, began to lose the internal enamelling. Something I was not aware of: you can bake in Le Creuset pans. It had never occurred to me before to bake a cake or loaf in one.MUST try that!Good old Amazon Prime... my pan arrived the following day of purchasing. THANK YOU, AMAZON.

Beware buying one of these..... Mine only lasted 30 years of heavy use :-) Joking of course as 30 years is a bit more than anyone can expect. My old one had just lost its shine at the bottom and so was getting difficult to clean. These are a wonderful long lasting casserole. This new one has a metal handle whereas my old one was non metal and I prefer this new one. It can be washed in the dish washer and I've done that just once so far. Sometimes you will cook something in it that seems to clean it back to new. Did a casserole that had wine vinegar in last night and that seemed to make it look like new again so I may look into better ways of cleaning it as I don't like putting it in the dish washer regularly.Expensive but highly recommended.

We’ve had this for nearly 20years now, I only use Le Creuset and was lucky enough to buy the range when it was significantly cheaper than today. They all cook fantastically, if used correctly they get the maximum out of the flavours and never disappoint. The strange thing with the 26cm is it seems to cook even better than the others we have - all smaller sizes, maybe that has something to do with it.Perfect for cooking a main dish that has fed up to 8 comfortably, it often forms the centre of cooking large family meals. If food sticks it’s been used to hot, simple really. Easily fixed by a long soak after. Don’t stress...More memories of family meals around these pots than I can imagine, one of my most treasured possessions.

There are numerous imitators of Le Creuset that in general do a decent job, but none can truly match the real thing. The heat distribution, the control, etc, are beyond reproach. Yes, you pay for this in terms of cost, but a LC casserole dish, properly cared for, will last a lifetime (and beyond). The one snag is the weight. LC products are robust, but very heavy. This becomes a big problem with the larger casseroles, which weigh a ton when empty, and when full, may be at the limit of what some people can manage to lift and manouevre. If you are frail, have arthritis or similar, I would strongly suggest handling the item in a shop first to see if you will be able to lift it safely.
