Have been looking for a decent pair of carpenters pliers to replace a 1950s era pair I inherited that broke.Not knowing Knipex, a search told me that they make great quality pliers and grips, that you pronounce it 'Kuh-nip-ex', and they are German. Germany is well known for tools and metal manufacturing, so what the heck, I bought them.I've had them a month and they are serving me well. Incredibly tough jaws and the flat hammer also comes in useful for knocking nails through.I can't fault them to be honest. They're a joy to use and just do the job as well as can be expected. I trust them and don't see them failing mid-job.

A really useful addition that's been added to the 'big job' toolbox. Enables a single tool to be used to put floorboards down or for a lighter hammer for certain trickier to get to tasks. The only negative is the angle of the striking face - you'll clatter your knuckles getting the pin/nail to sit fully home in its unboxed state. Tbh, I expected that prior to purchase and was always going to run the face over a grinding stone to prevent that issue but I just find it incredible that whomever at the R&D department couldn't have sussed that one out. Ah well, no biggie, I'd buy another.

Overall these are a great pair of pincers; they look and feel very good quality, the pivot is smooth and just about the right tightness, while the jaws are well aligned and properly honed. They cost me 3 or 4 times as much as the manifold Chinese-made alternatives, but at least they do the job properly and feel like they'll last. The only thing I begrudge is that I now have fork out for a premium product in order to get similar quality to that which my grandfather took for granted :-/

Amazing quality, bigger than i expected but i should have read the description, no regrets as these work perfectly for pulling nails , bought for removing and snipping finishing nails and these are perfect in my tool beltUpdate: Having to buy another set as many people asked about them and that led to someone stealing them even though they had my names written down the handle , locking tool box is my next purchase ?

In a word, excellent! Good size, easy to operate and can be used to both nail and remove same. Highly recomended.

I am a cobbler and these pincers are just the perfect tool for my trade, knipex never fail to amaze.
