Bought this for my 82 year old mum for her tubs of Lurpak. Before I gave it to my mum I tried it out to make sure it was okay and at first it seemed as if the holder was too small for the 500g tub, however you just need to give the tub a hard push into the holder - it is a very snug fit. Very nice quality at a good price. The only slight downside is that it is hard to take the lid off using the small knob on the lid but my mum gets around this by just gripping the sides of the lid to take it off and has no problem doing that. Another plus is that it stops the spreadable butter getting too runny as it did before in my mum's warm kitchen. Looks smart enough for the table too. Recommended.

I bought this butter dish to hold cartons of spreadable butter. Before ordering, I measured the carton I was using ( Lurpak spreadable) . Compared with the dimensions given, it should have fit easily, but it was a little too big, owing to a lip on the butter. I had measured it with the lip.It is not a major problem as I cut a bit of the lip off, and it fits fine now.The measurements given at the top of this page are very wrong. A butter dish of those dimensions is massive. I measured mine and it is 9.5 wide, 14.5 long, 7 high (cm).

I bought one of these tub holders twenty or more years ago, but my 'tub' contains cooking salt! I greatly dislike the open salt pigs, I think they're called, as I don't like my salt open to any flying visitors. Now I have a tub holder for my butter. They are excellent quality and my salt tub has a plastic butter tub containing the salt, but any salt spilled aroung the top of the metal tub has in no way made the steel suffer, it is as good as new. I recommend this tub holder for butter, salt or whatever other use you might think of.

This is great for any spread pot that I have bought so far but the only issue is that the edge is slightly higher than the tub so when you try to scrape any spread back off the knife into the pot, it ends up on the inside edge of the pot and hence on the inside of the lid when you put it back on. It’s just a minor irritation, as it is great to be able to put a perfectly acceptable stainless steel container on the table without seeing the spread tub itself - and I shouldn’t be scraping spread back into the tub anyway!

I have been looking for a tub like this for many years. As others have said it fits a full brick of Canadian butter which is a big deal. I also like the lid design which covers the sides. For those of us who "wipe" excess butter from our knife on the side, the lid covers without touching. My only criticism is the ball "handle" which is looks nice but is awkward; a ring design would have been better.

They give it a 25 yr guarantee, which will see me out !The standard 500g rectangular 'spread' tubs fit snugly, and the looks won't disgrace any table setting.Insulating properties are good. Its predecessor in my house was ceramic, which was not so cold to the touch straight out of the fridge, but when dropped, it smashed into smithereens. Hence, this practical replacement..

I love this dish. A 500g tub of spread fits into it perfectly and looks nicer on the table. The only drawback is the condensation on the dish when you take it from the fridge - the solution is to take it out a few mins before it is needed and to wipe the dish dry before setting it on the table. Perfect. It is something I've been searching for for a long time.

This butter dish is fantastic. This dish which actually holds a pound of butter is designed so much better than the traditional butter dish. Also there is way less mess, and I have even noticed that my son...who is a butter nut, now takes a more reasonable amount, as he used to take a big chunk when the pound was all exposed. Great product

I really like this...this is my third butter/marg holder but the first non ceramic one so won't break when it hits the quarry tile floor....(mind you I have not tested it so it might dent!). But apart from that it has a simple attractive design....and its light. some say about the finger marks...I don't really mind that. So far so good.

This butter/margarine tub looks very good on the breakfast table, so much better than just having the supermarket tub on display. I think most 500g tubs would fit in it.This stainless steel tub looks very stylish and it is very good quality, I would recommend it to anyone.

Brilliant idea. My tub is always out as can't stand hard butter, even soft spread ones. Found this and works perfect with 500g tubs, not just lurpak. I think a bit pricey but worth it. Only issue, shiny material causes finger prints. Wish it was satain finish

Wonderful item! It actually fits the whole block of butter- it has quickly become an essential kitchen product that is used daily! Everyone who comes over asks where it was purchased...I will most likely be buying a few more now as gifts!

28.9.2014

As previous reviews state the fit is snug but just right once the butter is pushed in. Also agree it is easier to pull the lid off by the sides, not the knob. I was so pleased I bought my mother one., she is pleased too.

Handy, butter dish which I use in the kitchen for cooking butter as it is hygienic and easy to clean. Kept in the fridge is keeps the butter at a safe cool temperature much better than ceramic or plastic containers.
