My daughter loves boiled eggs for breakfast and faced with an egg cup shortage I had to get her one of these when I saw it. It came in a sturdy box which would make it an attractive present - my mum said she wishes I'd waited as she'd have bought it as a stocking filler for Xmas. The hammer to be frank is just a novelty, it's virtually impossible to pull it back and have it hit the egg shell, and flicking it at the egg just fractures the shell into tiny pieces making it hard to pick out of the egg. Other than that though this is pretty cool. The cup holds the egg securely which is great for a child. The hat flips over to hold the discarded shell and the spoon is the right weight and feels nice in the hand.It is marked as WMF cromargan which I haven't come across before so I'm not sure whether it, or the rest of the product is dishwasher safe - some indication on the packaging would be nice, if it was there I completely failed to spot it. My daughter thinks it is brilliant, I'm giving it 4* for hammer being a gimmick and feeling the need to handwash it as I'm not sure about it being dish washable.

I actually bought this as a stocking filler for my partner (who is in his late 20's!!) after numerous complaints about not having any egg cup's in the house! I was a little worried he might think it too childish but turns out he loves it. I chose this last minute over the soldier egg cup & toast cutter after reading reviews stating that the cup was too small & that the spoon was usless. So glad I did. It's a very good size, well made & does the job it was made for. Hammer isn't upto cracking standards for adults but I imagine would provide alot of fun for children. The spoon is good quality (stainless steel) & can actually be used which you don't usually eggspect with these items. There is a removable plastic drop in tray which makes it easy for washing & a lid to keep the egg warm until it's eaten. Hoping to get one myself now!

I bought this as a present for a child and had to discipline myself not to keep it for myself! It's great fun - kids love it. The boiled egg sits inside the head of the little man, and the hat closes over it like a lid. The hat is on hinges so you don't have to worry about it getting lost. The silver egg spoon goes through a slot in the hand, and the little hammer is attached to the hand and doesn't come off. The 'hammer' is made of rubber and has a little metal bobble at each end - even the most determined small child wouldn't be able to do any damage with it. The figure stands on a wide plastic stand. It's sturdy and has a nice smooth design so is surprisingly easy to clean. It holds a normal sized boiled egg (or if you prefer at Easter, a chocolate egg).

I bought this for my 3 yr old nephew and his parents has given this product a 5 star rating. Previously my nephew had a white egg up and he used to take the egg out and throw the egg on the floor. I saw this on Amazon so bought it and my nephew loves it as he has fun opening thegreen hat on the egg cup, tabs the egg with the spoon and best of all he does not throw the egg on the floor. It is fun and a bright egg up and is very sturdy as it has fallen on the floor a few times but there is no damage to the egg cup. Good value for money. 100% would recommend it.

An instant hit with our egg-loving toddler, only a couple of slight disappointments, the "hammer" is actually flexible rubber and does not come apart from the main body of the egg cup. Inside the eggcup there is an additional "cup" which the egg sits in, presumably so you can remove it easily for washing, however ours lasted about two weeks before being lost (grrr) and the lid on the cup also separates from the body a little too easily, so I'm sure that will be the next fatality. HOWEVER it is still a great product and I would buy again.

Purchased this for brother (in his 20's!) after he saw it in another shop and got rather excited by it. Found it to be cheaper on Amazon after the other shop became out of stock. Delivery was very quick...the product arrived at my house before Amazon had even changed the status to dispatched!! :-) Ordered on a Weds evening & it arrived via Royal Mail first thing Fri morning!Great novelty item for an xmas stocking filler...comes in other colours too.

Bought this as a spur of the moment purchase for my son. While it isn't particularly practical, the hammer just dents the egg, the hard hat top holds the shell and it's a devil to clean, my son loved it. It's a fun product. Certainly a lot bigger than I imagined.Just a shame it can't peel itself, I still have to do that for my boy as the egg is just too hot for him to do it himself.... "Daaaaad peel my egg for me!". Where did I go wrong?

Purchased for my nieces as they get tons of chocolate eggs at easter.Great way to get them to ask for eggs at the weekends. Only disappointing thing is I thought that the hammer detached to break the egg but it doesn't but then again I suppose this also stops it from getting lost. All in all a great novelty gift and I think they would be great for adults too as I now also want one :)

I love these egg cups, my kids love these egg cups and everyone we have shown them to have loved the egg cups, I can highly recommend them - large enough to accomodate large eggs, the spoons are great quality and the hammer is not detachable which I thought at first was a disadvantage but is most definitely not. They also come boxed so very nice for a gift.

This product is well made, fun and funtional. I bought it to encourage my very fussy 4 year old son to try eating an egg. I have to say it worked. Only missed out on 5 stars because it is quite expensive and we have yet to crack the shell with the hammer (although obviously the spoon works fine for this)! Would recommend.

Bought 3 of these for Easter gifts to my kids as an alternative to chocolate. Their faces said everything when hey opened them, they were over the moon. The egg cups are really well made, the spoon supplied is really nice to hold. The little hammer to crack the egg was a big hit! Literally! Superb, would recommend!

This was bought for my nephew so he could be like his brothers. There is something about the happy face and great quality that just makes this the perfect addition to the breakfast table when kids are involved. High recommend this and his friends (there are other colours) for anyone wanting a smile at breakfast.

This little thing is so cute. The kids love it. They eat up every scrap of boiled egg, and relish the shell-bashing that ensues with the little hammer! It's fabulous and very well made.A great alternative easter present we got our boys - knowing full-well they'd be bombarded with chocolate from others!

Egg cup looks great. Makes me want to use it. It was bought as a present for 5 year old grandson. I know he will love the look of it and it will encourage him to eat his boiled egg. I haven't given it to him yet so don't know if the hammer is for appearences only or if it really will crack the egg open

This is a great little egg cup. The photograph is a very good representation, however, it should be clearly stated that while the spoon is detachable, the hammer isn't. There is a little cup insert that allows for the egg to be turned for hammering though, so it all works out in the end.
