Since 1986, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has presented its saga in the Shonen Jump Magazine, then in the Ultra Jump edition since 2003 with the Steel Ball Run Saga. And since the anime releases broadcasted from 2012, the series has gained a worldwide popularity and reception. Both with the public and critics.Indeed, that series displays an emotional and powerful adventure about the JoeStar Dynasty and the conflicts they have with a crook named Dio. A Heathcliff-like psychopath whose crave for power makes him evolve into a powerful vampire who dreams to eradicate humanity. With his new Undead powers, then his Stand abilities, which his descendants/rivals inherit/obtain as well,Dio and the Joestars enter a war that travels many historical periods/countries/generations. In appearance, an adventure of magic, hidden powers, and heroes trying to save the world. But in reality, an ode to humanity and its ability to survive through willpower and human strength. Whatever tragedies and fallen allies/friends occur on the road of life. And in this game, that family lives through another storyline. An official one presented by Hirohiko Araki himself, which is wonderful as this makes it a certifiable narrative of the Joestar family. A story where the various eras of the series unite together due to an army of former enemies/brainwashed allies who are trying to unite a Holy Corpse whose powers could destroy many universes.Of the story, which happens over many days, we witness the Joestars’ trials in uniting the corpse, but also reuniting with friends who had passed away. And for fans of the games, this is a moving moment as it allows those people and their friends to speak together and trying to make amends over the flaws that they had in the past. Through subtle dialogues, but also various side-missions certain individuals can perform. And all of that through many funny and sharp dialogues the characters have between themselves. A mix of comedy and action that respects the manga/anime series narrative. All thanks to Hirohiko Araki’s presence. Indeed, the dialogues/scenes/emotions are always precise and faithful to each individual and the banters certain pairings add much to the chemistry/rivalry between them. Due to that, we get beautiful moments between Joseph Joestar and his son Josuke Higashitaka, Iggy and Polnareff, Lisa Lisa and Jonathan Joestar, and Jolyne with her father Jotaro Kujo. On another note, it is interesting how we get to encounter the alternate reality of the Joestar family; through the Steel Ball Run and the Jojolion runs. Especially as the Jojolion sagaa is incomplete. Which makes me wonder how things would have been different had that branch already been completed in the magazine Ultra Jump. Would we have had more individuals joining the fight? more narrative opportunities? Who knows. Either way, the storytelling in this game is satisfactory, which is refreshing considering that several tie-in games have disappointing plots. Therefore, just for the story, this game is a worthy purchase for the PS4.In its game designs, Eyes of Heaven happens on stages set within each parts of the series. Using the original stage designs of the Brawl game All Star Battle alongside those conceived for Eyes of Heaven. Though it makes me sad that we don’t get to explore and fight inside all of those All Star Battle levels. Indeed, several of them would have fit perfectly with the narrative of the story, like Dio’s Mansions, Rome Streets, and the house of Yoshikage Kira’s father. And although some of them appear in crucial cinematic, their lack of exploration is a small criticism that l had to say. Of my wish to rediscover again those levels through Eyes of Heaven‘s gameplay. Especially when some of them had superb Finishing moments in All Star Battle. Moments that reminisced iconic scenes of the manga series. And through the few Finishing ones that appeared in the game (three I think) were great, I wish there could have been more. One for each stage offered.About the gameplay, Eyes of Heaven is both Battle-oriented and Adventure like. Travelling through stages set in different eras where the characters, in battle moments, fight in an exploration-way around the levels. So different from the Brawling nature of All Star Battle; which didn’t allow players to dive deeper into the mood of this surreal manga series, especially for locations like Morioh town, the Naples Train Station, the Rocky Mountain Village, and Air Supplena Island. And in terms of visuals, what an amazing level of work the artists pulled out. For the Morioh town levels, the artists used Fauvists colours for the sky; warm palettes which go well with the art references in Hirohiko Araki’s Art who was influenced a lot by Gauguin, Matisse, and De Staël.Of the characters, the range of playable people consist of either three or two persons for the first, seventh and eight arcs, while for the second/third/fourth/fifth arcs, more than five characters appear in the adventure. And for each, the character designers reused the models used in All Star Battle, but also honed them according to the Anime series; giving them colours more accurate to them, and even added in new costume designs as well. In sum, gorgeous 3D models accompanied by the voice actors of the original anime series. For instance the late Unshou Ishizuka, whom the anime community misses dearly. And speaking of the voice acting community, what an incredible team of actors were involved in the game. Each of them gave excellent performances that follow the storyline and the people`s emotions. As such, this game is a great masterclass for fans of anime and voice actors as to how to perform emotional stories through the voice. Which I insist seriously as some actors have tried that kind of performance in animation or video games, and their work was disappointing. As for the music, what an amazing soundtrack from Chikayo Okuda. Involved in other project like the Hack Series, but also the excellent Asura’s Wrath, this musician gave in Eyes of Heaven a music that respects the surreal/action atmosphere of the story, but also the various musical references in the series; such as 1970s UK Rock, Heavy Metal, Rock musicians like Prince, Pop Music, and punk. And what a great idea from the game’s makers to present that soundtrack in a gallery section. Of my favourite tunes, I loved the Morioh Theme, the Mountain Village One, the Alternate Higashitaka house, and various battle themes available in the game. Another favourite tune was an oppressive and apocalyptic theme that used cellos and which was absent from the gallery mode. Which is sad because it recaptures the dramatic tension of the series. A tune that I wish and hope people behind the video game series will get to include into Eyes of heaven's Gallery in a game update.Speaking of the PS4share option, it is awesome how people can share excerpts of the game on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Through that Playstation 4 functionality, players can present online portions of Eyes of Heaven that give the game a great publicity for the game, but also allows fans to connect together and display their favourite moments. Though I have to warn everyone that at the second third of the game’s story mode, all PS4share options are blocked; to make sure that no spoilers come out of the story. A strategy attempt that I quite agree with, though anybody going on YouTube can see that some players who did playthroughs of Eyes of Heaven have managed to show those non-shareable moments as well through their video recording softwares. Either way, my PS4 warning is a fact that I wanted to speak of to anybody who wanted to purchase the game.Alongside that story mode exists also battle modes players can do between each other. Either online or at home, as they can play against each other, or let the CPU play with himself against two teams and perform for fans a match of which they have no control for. Of the online matches, it is sad how there aren’t that many players anymore. Indeed, it’s as if after a couple of years, people have dropped that game aspect and have either left Eyes of Heaven for another game to play, or prefer to participate only into the story mode. Therefore, to any fan of the game who is reading this review, I encourage them to play online as well. For the more players are present online, the more chance people will get to enjoy these online matches occasions. As for the availability of the game, people can purchase it both ways. Either as a physical copy, if you live in Europe Japan or other regions. But if you live in North America, the best way is through the digital editions available on the PS4 store as you can obtain there extra side missions and special playable characters like Saga 4’s Jotaro Kujo.In sum, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure; Eyes of Heaven is not only my favourite video game release of a popular anime/manga series, it is also my favourite Playstation 4 game as well. A great addition to anyone’s video game library.

I was skeptical due to the price, but the content you receive for such a price is amazing, full content at that with all characters int his crazy roster of favourite characters from the Jojo series.Compared to most games like CoD or to relate to the genre Street Fighter X Tekken where it charges full price but then loads you with pointless DLC (the latter being ON-DISC! What a rip-off!) it is a godsend of a fighting game. The roster is huge and colourful, full of both heroes and villains alike, even fan-favourite side-characters. The fighting style is very similar to J-Stars, giving the battle-ground more variety especially due to the interactions that can happen in stages, want a simple open area for fast-paced fun? No problem! Want a atmospheric battle in a burning building? We got that too! The specials and ultimates themselves are a treat to watch, though a little distracting with censorship on many.I highly recommend it, even if you aren't a fan of the manga/anime.

The game shipped and arrived brand new very fast. Really enjoying the game. Having only Recently gotten into the JoJo franchise I find this game is really fun so far. and yes don't worry, while the language is not English there is subtitles done in a comic-book style for everything which just adds to the awesomeness of the games story.
