I've run one of these for about two years now and am generally very pleased.Good: It's fast and pretty quiet and not too expensive (the pagewide tech is very clever and does what it says on the tin on that score). The autofeeder is ok and the scanner's up to the office-level standard. HP support has also been very attentive, even if they haven't managed to fix most of the problems. Were it not for ongoing issues (see below) I'd be delighted with it and give it a solid 5 star review. However, there are a few things that are very annoying. I'm using it with a Mac, so not sure if it's just me, the Mac-printer interaction or generic to all OS and so on.Bad: The printing colour fidelity to originalon-screen is not great so don't think about using it for colour-critical jobs (it's not really intended for that anyway, as a general office printer). Also, when I set it up, I had problems. HP ended up telling me just to use wifi rather than USB (to unplug the wifi full-stop, in fact). So what's the point in advertising it as a USB connective device in the first place? And good luck if you're using it in a poor wifi zone. Worse, however, has been its twitchiness in waking up (intermittent) and periodic disappearance in terms of interaction. It shows up in the print menu but then you get the 'printer not found / not available' dialogue when trying to print. So you try the usual 'turn it off and on again' trick. Only it doesn't shut down half the time and you end up having to physically unplug it. Then, when it comes back, you often have to re-install it using system preferences (as I have just had to, prompting this belated review). That's all very annoying, clearly, but I only use it at home and principally it has one user (me). Were this a shared computer in the office I'd imagine someone would have taken a hammer to it by now. Multiple software updates over a couple of years have failed to fix any of this, alas.Don't get me wrong; I really like this printer generally and would definitely think about buying a newer, updated model. And all these problems might just be isolated and down to me and my kit (or maybe I got a slightly twitchy printer). But if some of these problems are more generic then HP really need to fix their Mac compatibility and provide a more reliable product in terms of its interaction with input sources.

First off this is an excellent printer and scanner. The speed and quality is amazing, easily comparable to a work group laser printer. The only slight problem we had was after initial setup the printing of solid colours was slightly 'streaky'. However, after leaving the printer overnight and re-testing in the morning the problem disappeared, it appears that the ink needed a little time to work it's way through. No problems since then.It is great value for money but as we're all aware the cost is ink cartridges which, for a full set, looks like it'll cost around £200 for 3,500 pages. The initial 'setup' ink cartridges report they'll print around 1,200 pages. This was an upgrade from an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 which was a little noisy due to the moving printer head. With the printer's PageWide stationary head that shaking and rattling has gone. Also, unlike the 8600, it doesn't need to pause to let the ink dry when duplex printing so duplex printing is a good deal faster.Overall, a top quality printer that I thoroughly recommend.

After 8 years my previous HP laserjet was getting tired so I bought this for the office. Previously I have had a laser but it seems inkjet is the way to go. The ink cartridges are a similar size. I paid about £250 plus VAT and HP are currently doing a cash back offer giving you £130 back. Introductory ink cartridges are not full capacity but HP have to make their money somehow. I've tried after market ink but it's not as good as the original.Great printing, the touch screen works well, scanning to email and your computer is a great feature. I've not used the fax facility. Easy to set up and log onto the network so everyone can scan from it and print to it.This one does duplex which is a big paper saver. You can get a whole ream in the tray as well which is useful. The only downside is its slightly noisier than a laserjet but you get used to it.I'm now buying another one for a charity I run.

We have had this Printer in the office for about 10 Months now and we have just changed the cartridges, There are 2 people full time & another person part time working in the office. The Printer has been great since we purchased. There were a few small issues with connecting wireless in the first few weeks, one computer kept getting disconnected but after a few weeks it seemed to settle down without any problems. I worked out the price per page is about 1.74p per page & our old printer was 4.7p per page. The amount of waste we were producing with plastic cartridges changing them every other week was ridiculous, So I feel much more at ease changing a cartridge only once every 10 Months.I highly recommend this printer if you are using a printer every day in a small office.

I love this printer - we have one at work so I thought I'd get one for home as the kids print lots for college and school. It's really fast and quiet (so much better than my old colour laser). It holds a good stack of paper and I'm using this through wi-fi so I don't have to have a long ethernet cable going round the room anymore. Screen is very clear and easy to use. The manual input tray is being used a lot at the moment as the kids are printing on 5x3 and 6x4 cards for revision purposes. I've set it to turn off at night via settings which makes me feel I'm doing my bit saving energy!I know the ink isn't cheap but we are still using the original cartridges which came with it which are goodfor around 1000 pages.

We have installed it as a network printer for our small business. So far, its been excellent, good print quality and the output is fast, which was the main reason we purchased it. It seems to be good value for money but we are yet to find out how long the ink cartridges last and they are expensive to replace. We have not been able to figure out how to scan a document to a network folder but scanning from the software on any of our machines, networked or bluetooth, works well so not a major concern. It handles double sided scans and prints really well, which is a relief compared with our brother printer, which has never worked properly. So far we are really please with our purchase.

Bought this printer to replace a Canon inkjet that failed recently. The speed and quality of this printer is amazing. It's literally as fast as a Laser printer! Prints from Sleep Mode in 2 secs flat and then prints at a crazy pace with great quality. The pinter is quite big, but was simple to setup and install. Highly recommended.

Excellent printer for small office (4 staff) . Very quick thanks to the page wide cartridges. These are pretty expensive but seem to last a good while. One star deducted for appalling software. Loses connection frequently so scanning doesn't work. Have to use print doctor/ reinstall/ hp smart ona regular basis

Everything you need for a home office printer. You can even send items to this printer via your phone. Prints quickly..and despite the price of the ink, if you print a lot like I do or have a family using it, the ink works out cheaper than standard ink cartridges.

One week in and this HP a big improvement on the Xerox we just ran out of patience with. It's slightly smaller than, much quicker, quieter, more user friendly and even an IT luddite such as I could set it up on our little network of four office PC's.

This printer meets expectation. It's fast , easy to set up and definitely a step up from the normal domestic ink jets.Printing using the iPhone or ipad is also very simple. Not sure how long the ink will last but here's hoping a long time.

started using the printer and found it large but has all the features a small business needs. works a dream and very cost-effective in terms ink but maintaining great professional quality.

Excellent delivery service, arrived quickly. printer is excellent and quality of prints very high. Can't fault the service or the printer.

Very very good all round. I was apprehensive in spending so much on a printer however very pleased. You pay for what you get.
